Or, the black ship is the Oro Jackson, which has turned black due to being burned (like the Black Pearl from pirates of the caribbean) after the Roger Pirates disbanded, but being made from Adam Wood, that wasn't enough to destroy it completely, and Tom salvaged it and repaired it, using it to sail the Red Poneglyph around the seas.

During the Fish Man Island arc, Tom's brother (Den) told Franky that he knows about the incident and he knows Tom is dead. If Tom was alive and went to Fish Man Island, I think Den would know about it and tell Franky.

Im on board with the theory of Deuce, Aces right hand man when joining Whitebeard as Spade Pirates. Deuce would probably be marked by early training of the mera mera no mi and an unknown, trustworthy ally to Whitebeard, whos territory was Fishman Island as it held the red poneglyph. Whitebeard knew enough about Rogers journey + the poneglyph drew attention for pirates passing by, is imo enough reason for him to move it. And who could offer himself for that? Well why not the new guy who lost his former captain and is still not known enough as a whitebeard pirate, Deuce. This job of protecting the stone can also justify him not being there during Marineford.
i think not returning to water 7 makes sense. i mean a wanted criminal who escaped from Maximum Security prison rarely can just return home haha like that would be the worst choice for anyone IRL even. he wouldnt want to threaten water 7's livelihood, i have been curious looking at iceburgs behavior after tho and wonder if theres something there.

the main thing id say about what you wrote, is that whitebeard did not anything about roger's journey, just the red poneglpyhs. in fact, whitebeard told roger DONT tell me, i dont care.
the poneglyphs wouldnt draw attention to anyone on fishman island because it wasnt on fishman island. it was OUTSIDE of it, hidden in the forest, so the only way for wb to know would be if i guess roger told him anyways despite wb saying no, or king neptune telling him, but thats where its subjective, idk why king neptune would mention it wb, but then not to robin if he was even aware that the red poneglpyh was missing, especially since he loved luffy and divulged "Everything" to robin. it would make sense hed be like oh you need the red stone, he wanted to give them everything, but thats the hting king neptune probably doesnt even know why the red glyph is important, at that point roger and npetune are talking ancient weapons.

However he knew the stones are important to end the journey as Roger went as far as begging for Odens help for them. That imo, is all the info he needs to secure them from possible wrong hands (like the fishman Jack of the beast pirates), by making it permanently move (and even here it can be anyone doing it really). I just cant help to think WB had to know about it moving out oif his territory.
Still, id also love to see Tom again and a few other theories also make quit much sense (Dragon, Pandaman, etc). As you said, this really is one of Odas master mysteries that gets all our heads spinning and only time will tell. The only worry is it being someone where most people go "would be cooler if it was ..." but at the same time these scenarios make the end game all that more investing and interesting!

I think the man marked by Flames is the dude that was Ace's Spade Pirates 2nd in Command, Masked Deuce.
Oda wrote a story for him, that was adapted by another Mangaka.
And the whole story is how this dude got inspired by the Man that Became Fire and how they journey together.
The series ends with him vowing to fulfill Ace's Dream in front of his tomb in present time.
That is the Man Marked by Flames. And he was marked and inspired by the most Important Flame in the entire Series.
Also the fact Oda and another mangaka went out of their way to make a manga for an entirely new character, is too much of a coincidence.
Lets also remember that at the end of the day the series is still part of a Publication.
So if the Magazine can create tie-in content all the better in terms of profit.

Reason:
In fishmen island arc when luffy crew caught in a giant sea whirlpool Franky said its look like a dragon , also when franky explained us about sea current in fishmen island , the dragon image was shown , also in dressrosa arc when sabo used drgon claw in arena , the whirlpool foemed in water . Dragons tatoo is also the reason as oda specifically said man " marked " by flame .

maybe, but robin spent 2 years with dragon. if dragon had the last road poneglyph he wouldnt have hid it from her and if robin knew dragon had it she would tell luffy. i dont see how it could be dragon
It cant be dragon, in 1086 dragon mentioned discussing matters in regards to the poneglpyhs(in regards to ancient weapons) with robin and dragon didnt bring up the lode poneglpyh he had to robin at all based on her reaction to seeing the zou lode poneglpyh(as being the first one she saw and heard of) and based on what she said in chapter 1060 about the last rode poneglyph havent been seen in a long time and having no clue where to find the last lode poneglpyh
It’s almost definitely not Dragon. It’ll be someone that traverses the New World Waters (the only thing that works narratively). Dragon has been stationed in the Kamabakka Queendom which is in Paradise.
As others have mentioned Dragon spent time with Robin, and is keen to carry on the will of Clover, so if he had a road Poneglyph he would have almost certainly shown it to Robin.
And thirdly, while it’s not technically impossible, there is nothing connecting Dragon to the sea forest, which is the last known location of this Road Poneglyph. Unless he knew the location beforehand, there is no reasonable explanation for why he would enter the sea forest.

TMMBF is Luffy. The whirlpools are from Dragon shadowing him. Luffy is ironically oblivious of the whole thing. Oda cuts off Luffy at his burn scar when Luffy asks who it is.
What I find interesting is that the status vivre card didn't have Shiki listed on it. Why. He was set up in the very beginning to be a very important character and then just vanished. Shiki has to make an appearance in a big way if he isn't going to be confirmed to be dead or alive.
Considering we never see Big News Morgans out of his Zoan form I believe this is because he is terribly scarred and burnt and when out of his Zoan form he is known as The Man Marked By Flames and uses the Poneglyph as leeway with the World Goverment.

I don’t think any one person can drive a whole ship alone. If it’s Scopper, it’s probably not just him alone. The Roger Pirates have a Fishman (potential whirlpool source. It would be a very powerful Fishman to be on the Roger crew). Black Ship? Armament coating from Scopper, like coating a sword in haki. The ship itself? The Oro Jackson. Possible Kloboterman existing.

I watch alot of national geography, and one piece and one thing i found they both have in common is they both talk about fish, in one piece they are fishman, and in the real world fish can create whirlpools, and in one piece an unknown character will always be mentioned by name or nickname, unless they are a fish man, my theory is the man marked by flames is a fish man which also explains why the only missing lode poneglyph is from fishman island..
Tom's tattoo us basically the symbol we encounter throughout the story : a big circle surrounded by 8 dots. I kinda forgot the meaning behind it but it is a very important symbol.

I did a video on how integral kokoro was to water 7 and i set aside a section for tom and how crazy their life mustve been leaving fishman island and being seemingly the only fishmen/mermaids on water 7. Also, the “with a don” thing got to me too when i was younger. The first chapter i read of “current” one piece was actually when they were a few chapters away from introducing tom, so at the time i was a franky hater. Fast forward many many years, i have a franky tattoo and hes my favorite character

the man marked by flames is saul, he melted with the flames of ohara and got scars, he also has the knowledge of the scholars about the void century in elbaf.
maybe elbaf has road poneglyph info but nothing pointing to that atm and so without that theres no current way saul should know bout road poneglyphs esp the fishmen one considering robin had the ohara info and had 0 knowledge of red glyphs and all the scholars dying unless oda changes that too then saul should have no way of learning new info unless vegapunk involvement which could make sense for poneglyphs in general but considering the other 3 are all well tracked, theres no reason to think either vegapunk or saul interacted with big moms, zous, or wanos . so while saul is an attractive choice at the moment if it were saul oda would need a lot of explanations to make it make sense imo. ultimately well find out how oda wants us to think when he reveals the mmbf

Man marked by flames is some new character with kraken df. Kraken df is some special df that allows him to be in the water, but he cant be on the land (apart from ship). Thats why his ponegliph is always moving with him. It would be even cooler if he was alone on that ship cursed to never touch land. This is just my theory.

Tom is alive but is a slave that has to build vegapunks inventions or ships for the WG.
The simplest option would be dragon due to the following reasons:
1. His main ship black in color
2. It is implied that he has some weather manipulative powers, so the whirlpools might come under his C.V
3. His tatoos might be the marks of flame. We also know he has history with akainu so he might have also gotten scars from him.
4. Timeline wise it makes sense too.
his ship actually isnt black, the wind granma is something oda named after Castro ship but also gave us designs for. as for the rest I can see except last point. if dragon and revs had the 4th red glyph, then Robin would have known what red glyphs were before zou or dragon would have to have hidden it from robin for some reason despite knowing she can read them

Kaido and Big Mom knew about the Red Rocks. They straight up talk about how Pudding can’t read them. Only after that do they say they want the Ancient Weapons, probably because they know they are straight up sat ontop of one.
I might have worded that part unclearly, ill have to check.
but part of what i meant is:
1. they verify that they cannot read the poneglpyhs, though they each have 1, they dont know or shouldn't know that a location is revealed on it.
2. they have never told us that they know that specifically there are 4 road poneglyphs.
3. in chapter 853, big mom does allude to the fact that she knows the road poneglpyh being taken away would allow for someone to make to laughtale. and in Chapter 999, she does ask about kaido's road poneglpyh, and we know kaido knows he has it. BUT neither of them should know what is written on it (esp cuz sukiyaki didnt tell us if he deciphered it for them, currently he would be the only one that kaido could have decipher it, but if that were teh case id imagine he would have held sukiyaki in protection given his importance, but everyone is glued on robin. even kaido which is why he ordered black maria to get robin) WHICH that detail also tells us that neither of them know why wano/kozuki are importance cuz again youd only learn that from the scabbards, or on zou. which neither of them know about.
4. So it could be that both of them heard the same stories that roger heard that told him about the treasure and the 4 poneglyphs. but from what we know about both of them, road poneglyphs association with the One Piece and Pirate King, which is something they both clearly wanted, wasn't as prioritized as it is being right now with BB, Kid, Shanks, luffy etc.
i think that kind of explains more in depth with what i mean, from memory tho. youre prob right in that i kind of undermined their knowledge, but i think the overall point still stands, that IF they knew how many, where and what about the poneglpyhs the story would show much more focus on them from these 2 emperors. and ULTIMATELY still lands on the point that they probably have no relation to the missing one.

Idk, but the idea of a Jet black ship, that causes whirpools that swallow other ships really reminds me of Laboon's species, some of ya'll theory guys made a video about how the road to Laugh Tale might be through Long Ring Long Land and that, in the middle of the ring that is that island, resides a big ass whale like Laboon that will take you to said island.
Given that fact and that the last ponegliph is supposedly within that black ship and this connection people had made between those whales and Raftel, I think there's something nice to cook
I like the theory, but you completely ignored the fact that Tom has a younger brother named Den that WAS in Fishmen island, not only that but he was also a Sea Forest researcher. Though you could’ve used this as a strong point since he would’ve made it easier for Tom to build the black ship/train with the help of his brother, it also wouldn’t make any sense why Den didn’t tell Franky about Tom, knowing Toms character is not one to hold secrets. Also I feel like if it were to be Tom there would’ve been more context clues of a fishmen at the sea forest, but also Hody wouldn’t have let Tom build a ship after he helped a human out (assuming people in fishmen island know Tom worked on Rogers ship). Love the idea of the theory but it straight wouldn’t make sense, not for Tom’s character but also not with what we know happened in Fishmen island. Den would’ve told Franky bout Tom or at least would’ve shown to be withholding information. I'm so glad you asked, I was debating putting a quick tangent about dens perspective. its interesting cuz sometimes in these "fake out deaths" the perilipherary characters that should know are conveniently not aware. the robin sano example is in front where it was like oh just dont tell luffy and for some reason that made sense. like sabo wanted to eventually make a dramatic reveal for the viewer sake rather than do the rational, realistic thing which is just tell him at the start LOL sukiyaki was a weird one cuz scabbards wanted to respect it and he himself was kind of weird about it. tryna think on other examples. but the thing with den that stood out to me was that oda felt the need to include forest researcher when at the time and all the dialogue with him, that wasn't ever really that relevant. Tom's little brother and shipwright was enough and adding forest researcher felt so random but kind of important. kind of how randy troy figured out that Hitetsu was Sukiyaki because hitetsu was introduced with like doll maker and that was sukiyakis hobby. it was such a minor detail but ended up playing a huge thing. I'm not saying it's on the same level but that connection stands out to me more than all the ways oda can conveniently explain why den didnt mention it. BUT his face and conversation about tom was kind of interesting. he never confirmed who sent him the letters or how he knew about franky and iceberg. franky assumed it was kokoro, but there was a line that hit weird in hindsight. den says "I know what happened" but didnt know franky became a cyborg after the train event. if kokoro wrote him letters, I'd imagine she told him that franky became a cyborg after. that's kind of a big deal. but maybe the letters stopped after tom died? OR he found out through tom instead who wouldnt know about franky exactly after the incident. and yeah I had more thoughts on it but didnt want to boggle down the video too much with a part that alot of ppl wudnt have considered. so I'm glad you asked haha I lowkey wish I could have figured a faster way to explain that in the vid.
and for the new stuff in this comment, ill add that. i don't think hody or even vanderdecken for that matter were able to police fishmen to that degree prior to their actual plans. they were stopping humans for the most part. but hachi, camie are all going back and forth. and if its to stop industries, then you have pappag who is selling clothes to humans. i dont think oda would have used hody as a way to deter this tom plotline.
and again for the rest of the tom/den part, i think the precedent oda has for these fake outs, kind of sets a pattern of how he handles it. he keeps the peripheral characters lowkey and vague, drops a stark detail that goes unnoticed. Brings back the main character in this case tom, and creates some kind of explanation as to why affected character didn't mention it, but ties it back with that small detail that shows that oda did have plans for it, but i think it allows for oda to use it sparingly. like if he wants to go full throttle, or not even use it, but in this case cuz oda threw Tom into the mix BEFORE laughtale, instead of just the man who built the ship, its kind of interesting right?
when yo ugo back to the oden flashback, theres no real point in showing tom there. oda could have easily said oh the oro jackson needed a repair, but didnt include that and instead said he had a hunch about the road poneglpyh, goes to tom. the stuff with franky we already knew and the stuff that tom was working on was already known. so why even have roger stop and see tom before laughtale, when the rest of the trip was basically slideshowed.

Flowers aside, I do agree that the treatment of Den was very open ended and made no sense to the point that I remember the community all the way in dressrosa (when I caught up n could watch theory videos) were questioning that interaction still. Though I do think there WILL b more context to Den, I don’t think it applies to Tom still being alive.
The vagueness of Toms death allows for people to bring up him being alive but that still don’t take away the fact that Tom has no actual ties to protecting the stone other than knowing roger. Though it can be told to us, Tom avoiding everyone just so he can protect the ship from others seems too out of character, if he had connections to the history or even a hint to it then I’d be willing to play w the concept of him being the man “scarred” by flames, but his character is literally not that.
Sabo not being confirmed alive by robin before Luffy meets him made sense to me cus Sabo is part of an organization where they NEED to keep secrets, therefore him being secretive MAKES SENSE. Hell when he met Luffy through Ace, he was keeping a SECRET.
Tom, from what we’ve known him to be, didn’t keep secrets. When the government claimed he helped the king of the pirates Tom didn’t shy away from their accusations and confirmed that he did it. Why would he be doing all of this secret stuff?
I think the idea is fun to have but having the character and how he acts and does things wouldn’t make sense. I think a good example of this would be Saul. Saul, as a D, had no clue why the world was what it was but never questioned it. He was honest to a fault and wanted good to win. When he was iced after empowering Robin to keep living but then later on thawed out he could’ve went to find Robin. But I’m a grand perspective, tho he knew Olvia he didn’t know Robin nor of where she went so he couldn’t contact her or seek her out. But now he also realized that the people he worked for are wrong and if the wrong admiral found him. He AND Robin would be dead. Not only that but he had info on the philosopher’s and an island that got “erased” he took the books left and has been in secret all along. Though his character is not secretive, the opposite actually. I don’t think he’s trying to remain a secret, only that those who knew, know. Why didn’t Aokiji tell Robin? To test her, or to test his decision to let her live long ago. Either way that’s a question and could be a better comparison to Tom potentially being the man masked in flames. BUT I think you’re going it the wrong way Par.
Yes Tom could’ve escaped impel down, yes Tom could make a ship to go that fast. But have we ever asked how a fishmen who willingly left fishmen island learned to not only fix ships but create amazing contraptions. How did even know Roger? You said during the flashback they went to Tom to talk about the road Ponoglyph but if I remember correct from me rewatching it last week w/ my girlfriend, the oro Jackson NEEDED repairs cus of the fall from skypea, much like Luffy and that’s when roger said “Ik a guy”. I think the point of Oda showing this is to show that all of what Luffy is doing NOW is what Roger did during his 2nd TRIP! All but Wano… where did Roger go instead of Wano…?
I don’t think the real mystery is Tom but more so who tf is Den and what is HE hiding. Cus yes Tom could’ve done all of that but Den could possibly build a ship that fast, and we saw him coating the straw hat ship, and correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he mention the ship being made of Adam wood too? I think you’re in the right place w the theory but I highly doubt Tom is the one who’s maning that ship or even created that ship.
I am glad someone finally mentioned a fishmen being part of the crew “scarred” by flames, since we’ve seen fishmen more than once create whirlpools. I love the theory but the biggest hole in it is the fact that the time difference between impel down and the admirals duel is not huge, and BB specifically told kuzan he was far too recent to be the man marked by flames. Otherwise the theory could work but impel down is far too recent
well kuzan just came from his battle with akainu, so that's why it was too recent. like kuzan only recently became marked by flames. but yeah I think that 1 year is actually a solid amount of time for someone to gain a reputation. considering all of pre timeskip is 6 months and I think post time skip is like 4 months or something. I thoroughly believe that the poneglyph from Zou was the last one Shanks needed, getting a vivrecard from a mink who temporarily left Zou to get back there would likely be harder to do than tracking down a ship on the seas for Shanks. Also, if it does have a WG connection, then it makes even more sense why Shanks could potentially easily get it (and where the rumors came from).

For someone who "CONNECTS" so much, you overlook 2 simple facts:
1) it was mentioned that the battleship was a COUNTER
2) the implied for years and now confirmed war/conflict between the Ancient Kingdom and the 20 Kingdoms
If the AK had 3 powerful ancient "weapons" (not weapons because as we've seen with Shirahoshi, she's NOT an object but an AVATAR channeling the POWER TO COMMAND GIANT ANCIENT CREATURES, which makes Momonosuke ANOTHER ANCIENT "WEAPON"), then how the HELL the the 20K (WG from on) beat them? The answer is obvious, it was already mentioned in Water 7. Occam's Razor.

This is a great theory, a dope take on the MMBF, however the timeline is scuffed between the timeframe of the start of the rumours(1 year post marineford the latest) and the puffing ice being built(2 years after marineford), i still think the burn scar man is the eyepatch pirate and that Otsuru in chapter 1056 forshadows it

I imagine tom could build one faster, but also they got the puffing ice now, but we dont know where the puffing tom is. rocket man is missing. and the possibility of a brand new one is open as well as old ones

This idea occured to me when i noticed that paulie has a flame design on his sleeves

I think impel down would change someone but also the end of Tom's character was that of a fighter and defender. he wasnt being neutral anymore and was being antagonistic towards the WG also because he understood that the WG was trying to harm the world through the weapon he inherited the responsibility of. so he cudnt keep being passive and it also meant that he had to remove as much danger from the boys as much as possible.

I like this theory Par, but I find it a little wierd that Tom could escape impel down without being on the ship that arrived at Marineford. I think an alternate theory could be that Tom was someone the Revolutionary army was looking into, and Dragon had Morley use his powers to extract Tom.
But I think theres a better theory for who the MMBF is. There's an obscure character that that was brought up once and shown in silhouette, but never again. Loki, Prince of Elbaf. He was just a baby when Big Mom burned down his home, and that explains the marked by flames aspect. He coukd have been burned in that fire.
Now you may be wondering why people wouldn't call him the giant marked by flames. But here's the thing, if no one can even get close to his ship, they might not be able to accurately gage the proportions of it, or the man on the deck. They may think they're getting closer but are actually much farther away that it would seem. An optical illusion.
But what is his motive? He actually has a very good one. You see, Loki loves Lola, and it's because of him that she had a falling out with Big Mom and had to run away from home. If he felt sorry for that, and genuinely wanted to help Lola, what could he bring her to help smooth things over with her family? What could Lola bring Big Mom that would make Big Mom forgive her disobedience? Maybe a poneglyph? Perhaps Loki is sailing around with the poneglyph, trying to find Lola. He's just never been able to, since she was stuck on Thriller Bark.

I tend to think your theories are fun but way too speculative. But this makes a good amount of sense, there's a real chain of events here that doesn't call anything we know into question.
I try to use a similar foundation for alot of my theories, so im glad this one really hit the right note for you. Sometimes this level of hindsight scrutiny is lost in other stories because the author usually will write in solutions that you couldnt really predict to problems that existed or to fill in the gaps, but i think oda wanted us to question all of these data points to get the right group. ultimately tho i could be wrong because like i said in the video, there is a group of characters outside of TOM that make sense, but oda would have to give them things we would have had no foresight for and i dont think oda is doing that here. I feel like new character is great, but the way oda is making it feel, its that its someone youd normally forget or miss, but they were there.
and to me in terms of fake out deaths, i honestly never fully remembered that oda kind of wrote in that tom wasn't killed just tranquilized and transported.
@@Parvision- I though Tom was going to be in Impel Down when it was coming out week to week and was honestly shocked when he wasn't. I have been week to week since Thriller Bark, and I wasn't under the impression Tom was killed. It could totally be him, the Sea Train making whirlpool bit is one of the things that really grabbed me as a clever thing that felt very Oda, like you pointed out, we already know sea trains can be hard/impossible for a ship to approach.

Fun theory but Japanese 傷 explicitly refers to a physical wound, a painful scar, not a metaphorical "mark".
So what's interesting is there is no full consensus on that. Because oda also used katakana to name him. Burn scar or fire scar or man marked by flames (only reason used that way) was rhat was the popular translation cuz it sounded fun to the community. But yeah even Artur Library of O'Hara has said it could just be a nickname rather than a physical description. I know the hidden island has said the phrase is super vague. I believe sandman a while back also validated this in that it's super vague which this theory provides explanations for every level of. If we are talking about painful scar yeah the battle scars from all the canons that he took to stop frankys ships could definitely leave a scar. If it's not a scar. Then he has the marks, if it's not any of that and it'd a nickname then it could also work with that too. But yeah definitely asked around when dissecting the japanese. It'll be really cool tho to see this revealed hopefully sooner cuz then whatever logic oda applied cud be insanely helpful for other mysteries haha
