Hi! Scott is impacting my story, as well. I had my turbulence turbines reduced at the end of December.
After a couple months, I felt like I still couldn’t read any better than I ever could so I went back to my ENT for a check and Shernoff. My nasal passage was totally flat on both sides. The Terminex were totally swelled up and not letting me have breathing air. I right now have a scheduled nasal plasty the thing in the middle of your nose. I had that done with sinus surgery in 1994, but my doctor tells me part of it is sauce still so over on one side yet that with the large turbulent his cousin, no air on on that side. Was determined on the other side is swelled up just as much.
. The thing is now after learning about empty nose syndrome. I really just think I’ll take the decongestant instead. The doctors don’t like me on decongestant because it can raise your blood pressure. But it never raises money. I am already on 247 medication‘s, and I would rather use decongestant And be on my blood pressure medication’s which I’ve been on since I was 30 years old and I’m 64 now, then risk having empty nose syndrome. Because it sounds horrid. Simply horrid and I am already ill with chronic pain. Fibromyalgia. And I don’t think I could take it anymore.
. What are you doing to try to help you breathe?
If I take decongestants than I can breathe. I was just going to have this done because the doctor acted like you know it’s a surgery it’s an in the hospital they do put you all the way out but you know the read recovery time isn’t all that long he said. He said they do it differently than they did in the 90s wear in the 90s after your surgery they put something very similar to a very long tampon up into your nose , and then it’s your first doctor visit. They pulled it out and it hurts so bad I thought I was gonna just croak.
Anyway, that’s all I just I talk too much and ramble on. Part of my ADHD I’m sure. Anyway, this is a sad, sad story for sure but if it makes people that desperate, and I know others have taken their lives as well then I really don’t think it’s worth possess And I’ll just do it. I’m always been doing.
      Take care! ❤❤❤✌🏻

@@MyCold1 I had to the reduction surgery at the end of December 2022. I felt like afterwards a couple months afterwards I couldn’t find any better than I ever could so I went back to my ENT and sure enough. My turbinates we’re just is clogged is the word before my reduction surgery. I mean, I think that I did not get empty nose syndrome, but I also did not get any help.
I’m actually scheduled right now for a Hospital turbines reduction and they’re going to straighten out the middle of my nose. That was already worked on in 1994 when I had sinus surgery so why it’s not straight all the way I have no clue. I’ve decided after reading all this that I think I will cancel the surgery. I can breathe fine if I use decongestant.
It’s just that the doctors don’t like me using it because it “can“ raise your blood pressure . But it doesn’t for me I’ve taken decongestants for years. I’ve also taken blood pressure medicine since I was 30 years old, anyway. So my plan is to just continue taking blood pressure meds, of course cause I’ve taken them all these years and then also take decongestants so I can breathe. I also use a Nettie pot and saline etc. so between all of it if that’s what works for me.

I am hearing so many stories about ENS. They are scary! What are the symptoms of ENS? I am suffering enough with nasal polyps, deviated septum and enlarged turbinates. I sure don't want to go through more hell, that I'm dealing with now!

    • @alec3979
      @alec3979 2 года назад +4

@@angelamings3031 Hi, Angela. I appreciate your concern. I'm sorry to hear what you're dealing with. It sounds like you have worse issues than myself. I have been able to manage better than I was a few months ago. Just to clarify I do not have ENS. I'm not sure what I have, but it's a daily issue that causes breathing difficulties and discomfort. I would guess it's Chronic Rhinitis but I have never had an examination done. I don't have the money at the moment to take care of this issue so I just try to manage how I can with being healthy, antihistamines, and nasal sprays.
Yes, ENS is a scary thing. The main scary symptoms I've heard: it will cause horrific insomnia. You will lose the normal sensation of breathing through your nose that you have now, and it will feel like you're perpetually not breathing enough. This can cause mental issues and suicidal ideation because it is very unbearable in people. There are high rates of people ending their lives if afflicted with this condition.
From what I understand it's a risk that can happen if you have surgery done on your turbinates. I don't know how big the risk is. I think you should have your surgeries done incrementally. The nasal polyps first, then the deviated septum. Or the deviated septum first and then the nasal polyps. As for the turbinate reduction, save that for last. Because if after your first two surgeries your breathing feels good, or at least decent, then you might not want to take the risk of having the turbinate reduction surgery since there is a chance it can cause ENS. The turbinates could potentially be helped by you using nasal sprays or antihistamines, and it could be an issue that gets better over time... So that sure sounds a lot better than risking ENS in my opinion. Just make sure to talk to multiple ENT doctors about your concerns and the details of these surgeries. Make sure they understand you do not want to end up with ENS in any circumstance. Other than that, I can only hope your surgery goes well. I think if you can fix your deviated septum and remove the nasal polyps with no issues from those surgeries, then you will be in a much better place... Take care! 💙

Don't touch the turbinates, mucosa, nerves. The silly thing is that we think these surgeries are possible. No one is going through you nostrils to do anything without harm. Hello guys, I hope you pay attention to my comment and manage to share it or make it viral if possible, if it works for you as it was in my case, it completely changed my life in a positive way, forgive my English I am using a translator, to summarize I am a boy of 25 years of Venezuela, at 10 years of age I fractured the septum of my nose and it remained that way until approximately at age 18 I had surgery only on the septum, (I remember that before the operation my nose was dry, I did not have the tip of the greasy nose) = with this I want to tell you that the fat and oils of most things make your nose clog and not only the nose but also most of the mucous membranes of the human body with this I mean yes For example, you make yourself a moisturizing lotion on your skin, you are more prone to things sticking to you or, as in my case, you get more easily, at that time when I had a fractured nose, I breathed well even though I breathed more through a hole io than the other but due to the deviation of the septum but as I told you I had no fat in my nose and therefore the nostrils were moist (hydrated) and that helped me breathe well despite my fracture. Well, after I had surgery on the septum, when I was 18 years old, about 15 days later I had a dermatitis on the tip of my nose and I noticed how it turned red but I did not go to a dermatologist but instead I consulted the pharmacy for a medicine that I I would recommend for dermatitis because at that time and now in my country it was very expensive to consult a doctor with a dematologist in general apart from the medicines and I just what I had was not enough good in general I bought the medicine called betamethasone that I applied it to my nose and it removed the itching and the reddish color of the dermatitis but it was only for a certain time, well guys, as time went by I stopped using it and tiny scabs began to appear on the tip of my nose and spots black like excessive fat that was when my whole nightmare started from this point my nose and not only my nose but my hair my eyes my ears I could not see or hear well and they were extremely fatty, well and as time went by the lower turbinates of my nose swelled to the point of completely obstructing both nostrils and at 24 years old I had a diode laser operation that reduced my ears more on one side than the other and after the operation I had an immediate improvement but after a month they grew back and lasted until I reached a point that I breathed every day through my mouth and not because of my nose and I had serious problems memorizing resting affected my quality of life so much that it distanced me from everyone, my family and my friends, I had a completely miserable life, my brain was not oxygenated and I began to have blurred vision I did not listen well I forgot everything in short a total nightmare until one day I provided an ene pill that contains sodium bicarbonate and acetaminophen because I had stomach acid and had that good in what After I took one of those pills, I felt an immediate relief in my breathing and then I began to investigate why this happened and basically I found that bicarbonate is used for scabies or scabies, (it should be noted that he said that he treated it more it eliminated it ) then I found out that because of the dermatitis that I had on the tip of my nose it was not dermatitis itself but it was scabies or scabies and at that moment I bought a medicine that is the one that completely changed my life and I think that My opinion is the definitive cure for both covid 19 and the empty nose syndrome that is ivermectin
since in what I took the first dose that were two pills of 6 mg = 12 mg every 5 or 8 days, I immediately felt that my nostrils were moistened at first as my nose was super stuffy I felt pain in the part where my lateral turbinate was reduced but then as the days passed I felt an incredible relief and by that I mean everything is say that my ears were uncovered, my vision improved, my memory improved, my breathing improved enormously and with respect to covid, the people who have more fat either because of scabies because it not only cures that disease there are others like it the posh and other parasites that are normally easily contagious and invisible, that is to say that if you do not do a thorough examination on your body you cannot know if you have it that means that anyone can have that and perhaps not in the nose but in the body or in the throat and it makes it difficult to breathe because of the fat, by this I mean that ivermectin as it eliminates the parasites and bacteria that produce that fat that makes your respiratory tract They cover or do not work correctly, in conclusion my life changed, gentlemen, today I take my 3rd dose of ivermectin and the improvement intensifies I hope everyone tries this medicine and any questions or clarifications I await your comments and doubts I will also indicate if they do not have the possibility of consulting a doctor as in my case how they can take it correctly I hope they try this medication and it changes their lives completely as my regards.

After my first ever anxiety attack a month ago, I had psychogenic breathlessness every night for a week. It felt like I couldn’t get enough air in my lungs and my nervous system would send false signals of suffocation to my brain. But if I breathed through my nose too hard for too long, it would get dry and I could no longer sense the airflow inside my nose, that was the worst and I couldn’t imagine having to live with it constantly, you literally can’t tell if you’re breathing in enough air or not and it’s very distressing. Nerve endings in the nose are very important

I have nerve damage from wisdom teeth surgery, and somehow I came across this video a few years ago. I think about Scott a lot. It's important for people to be aware of the dangers of surgery. My doctor gave my a paper to sign but never told me that I was at a high risk because a nerve was close to my wisdom tooth. I can live just fine with a numb tongue, but ENS? It seems right up there with trigeminal neuralgia and it enrages me that some doctors are out here ruining people's lives with risky surgeries. Removing turbinates is like doing a lobotomy. How do they sleep at night knowing that they drove people to suicide?

I asked the latest one what the possible side effects are…She said there’s a very slight chance of a small perforation, which could cause whistling sound when breathing. She made no mention of ENS. I didn’t know about ENS at that time. Other 2 ENT’s I met with never said anything about ENS…..Tgank you for sharing Scott’s tragic story…RIP, Scott.

Let me tell you from the beginning, I first had an operation in 2009 because there was a mass in the pituitary gland. This operation was performed on the nose due to the location of the mass, but the shape of my nose was distorted after the operation. It turns out that they took most of the middle cartilage (septum) of my nose, a big hole was formed in the septum (and No explanation was given by the doctors about why it was taken)
Later, the ENT doctors that I was examined said that it could be taken to close the operation area.
However, I couldn't get used to my nose shape, moreover, I had a post-nasal drip, my nose was constantly swollen.
Anyway, I had the operation in 2019,the doctor said that the operation was successful However, in the first days of the operation, I couldn't sleep because my throat was drooping, no examination was made for 7 days even though I called the doctor's assistant, 7. When I went the next day, the plaster was removed and a spray was given for the sagging in my throat. Even though I only informed that the hole in the septum would be closed, the doctor had already filed my already small nasal bone, lifted the tip of the nose and expanded my nose to the sides, making it almost like a black nose.
The main problems appeared on the 14th day when the tampons in my nose were removed, my breathing changed strangely, I was constantly short of breath because I could not feel my breathing, I was trying to breathe deeply, this caused me to be busy with my breathing and not be able to focus on anything else during the day, My sleep at night was also often interrupted, when I told the doctor about this situation, I opened your nose like a cave and he said you need to be able to breathe very well.
I came back from Istanbul and started to continue my work, but there was still abnormality in my breathing, my nose hurt while breathing, I started to breathe through my mouth constantly during the day, I had no solution for the night, I would fall asleep at night, I would wake up with panic and heart palpitations, this situation always happened. It was repeated at least 10 times a night, my under-eyes collapsed, my body began to weaken, I was sluggish and tired every day, I couldn't focus on my work, my social life was over, I was forced to come and go between work and home, I spent the rest of my time trying to sleep, I didn't even have to clean my house.
Moreover, because I was constantly sleepless, I started to lose my health day by day, my heart could not stand the sleep apnea I experienced at night, it became tired, now I had constant heart palpitations and I was on my way to heart failure.
3 years after the last surgery, in 2022, when I was examined by an ENT professor and told my complaints, he looked inside my nose with an endoscopic camera and your 2 lower turbinates were completely removed, the hole in the septum was reopened over time, you can't feel your breathing because the turbinates have been removed, and there is also a feeling of pressure because the inside of your nose is very wide. It does not form, so when you fall asleep, you wake up in panic because the brain cannot feel that you are breathing. Moreover, there is no cure for it, just as a severed finger cannot regenerate, so do the turbinates. He said to use a nasal humidifier, but the room did not work.
And when I was a person who loves life and tries to stand up in all circumstances, I even thought of committing suicide, I don't know how many times I will end up, think about it, you can't feel that you are breathing and this is a situation that repeats every second. I am only 30 years old, but I collapsed for 10 years. I have a heart disease. When I searched foreign sites for empty nose syndrome, I saw cases of suicide and even cases of heart attack.
All I can say now is this: How is medical education given in Turkey, how can the doctor who operated on me, knowing that I will have empty nose syndrome, can take all my nasal passages completely, we entrust our lives to these doctors! I wish I had never had that pituitary surgery and hadn't fallen into this situation. I have no right to such doctors, they ruined my life. Of course, there are good doctors, but I have always had bad ones.
No matter how much I rebel, this life will pass like this, this is my test in life, I have no choice but to be patient.
I hope that a cure will be found as soon as possible for those who have ENS syndrome like me and myself.

  • @perry5509

The nose in general really is so delicate it’s insane to me nose jobs, cutting away necessary cartilage to make people less insecure about their looks are so commonplace. I was one of those people, I felt I had a big nose and I felt that a little adjustment would make me oh so much happier. My mother also encouraged me. So I went to a top surgeon London surgeon, Lucien Ion, and went for it
Since then it’s been 3 years of hell… deviations, sleepless nights, breathing through one side but not the other, feeling like I’m suffocating sometimes, not being able to chat normally with my friends or my mum or my nan. Hell. Did you know that our noses and nasal airways are integral to being able to laugh? I didn’t. And all to try to look better in photos. My nostrils now are simply too thin to accommodate my inner nose. My bridge is now too low and curved to provide any support
All that structure I hated… was structure I needed. That’s why I had it. Now my only options are this surgery Scott had before killing himself, or a third nosejob to rebuild, which will cost 30k and may make me look worse. I have no safe options. I’m stuck. It’s awful. So my message to anyone reading this is that if you dislike your nose and are considering a nose job, please go to therapy. Find a hobby. Cover the mirrors. Stop taking photos and selfies. Do whatever you have to do to move past the insecurity because the risks are very very common and are totally not worth it!

Well, after I had surgery on the septum, when I was 18 years old, about 15 days later I had a dermatitis on the tip of my nose and I noticed how it turned red but I did not go to a dermatologist but instead I consulted the pharmacy for a medicine that I I would recommend for dermatitis because at that time and now in my country it was very expensive to consult a doctor with a dematologist in general apart from the medicines and I just what I had was not enough good in general I bought the medicine called betamethasone that I applied it to my nose and it removed the itching and the reddish color of the dermatitis but it was only for a certain time, well guys, as time went by I stopped using it and tiny scabs began to appear on the tip of my nose and spots black like excessive fat that was when my whole nightmare started from this point my nose and not only my nose but my hair my eyes my ears I could not see or hear well and they were extremely fatty, well and as time went by the lower turbinates of my nose swelled to the point of completely obstructing both nostrils and at 24 years old I had a diode laser operation that reduced my ears more on one side than the other and after the operation I had an immediate improvement but after a month they grew back and lasted until I reached a point that I breathed every day through my mouth and not because of my nose and I had serious problems memorizing resting affected my quality of life so much that it distanced me from everyone, my family and my friends, I had a completely miserable life, my brain was not oxygenated and I began to have blurred vision I did not listen well I forgot everything in short a total nightmare until one day I provided an ene pill that contains sodium bicarbonate and acetaminophen because I had stomach acid and had that good in what After I took one of those pills, I felt an immediate relief in my breathing and then I began to investigate why this happened and basically I found that bicarbonate is used for scabies or scabies, (it should be noted that he said that he treated it more it eliminated it ) then I found out that because of the dermatitis that I had on the tip of my nose it was not dermatitis itself but it was scabies or scabies and at that moment I bought a medicine that is the one that completely changed my life and I think that My opinion is the definitive cure for both covid 19 and the empty nose syndrome that is ivermectin
since in what I took the first dose that were two pills of 6 mg = 12 mg every 5 or 8 days, I immediately felt that my nostrils were moistened at first as my nose was super stuffy I felt pain in the part where my lateral turbinate was reduced but then as the days passed I felt an incredible relief and by that I mean everything is say that my ears were uncovered, my vision improved, my memory improved, my breathing improved enormously and with respect to covid, the people who have more fat either because of scabies because it not only cures that disease there are others like it the posh and other parasites that are normally easily contagious and invisible, that is to say that if you do not do a thorough examination on your body you cannot know if you have it that means that anyone can have that and perhaps not in the nose but in the body or in the throat and it makes it difficult to breathe because of the fat, by this I mean that ivermectin as it eliminates the parasites and bacteria that produce that fat that makes your respiratory tract They cover or do not work correctly, in conclusion my life changed, gentlemen, today I take my 3rd dose of ivermectin and the improvement intensifies I hope everyone tries this medicine and any questions or clarifications I await your comments and doubts I will also indicate if they do not have the possibility of consulting a doctor as in my case how they can take it correctly I hope they try this medication and it changes their lives completely as my regards.

yes be careful with turbinate reduction because turbinates are essential in warming and humidifying the air before its reaches the lungs....also the reason they are called turbinates is because they give the air coming into the nose some turbulence which allows you to breathe at a slower, steady, and naturally calming rate

You can do 3 days, 7, 16, 21, etc. But research. You have to take electrolytes during your fast, make seamoss water and break your long fast slowly. You cant eat a huge meal to break your fast that can result in death. Break a long fast with broth, or juice at first, or a little bit of grapes. Nothing heavy for the first refeeding period. Fasting removed mucus from the body. Look into sea moss and dr sebi. Fasting has healed me from ailments. Cheese, milk, eggs...dairy even meat cause sinusitis. Change your diet. All of This will make turbinates reduce in size.

Nowadays we treat the sleep apnea without cutting anything nor reduction. We treat it with a bimaxillary advancement of jaws, so it is MaxiloFacial Surgery. It’s just create a bigger space / room for the air without touching any organs.
You can search and discuss with a maxilofacial surgeon.

@@eons8941 It definitely helps a lot to some people, I just wasn't one of them. For me it wasn't the root cause or maybe a secondary cause of the problem because I have realized quite recently that I snore and I have to use a mouthpiece which helps. Don't use the nasal sprays .. it's just a bandage and it will make things worse in the long run. Get that checked by the doctor.

I'm sorry but has anyone actually lived with chronic rhinitis/sinusitis? It's a awful, awful condition and it just worse as time goes on. I feel like I can maybe get in 30% of the air I used to get in, when I sleep it has to be on my back with my head propped up which results in my body sometimes forgetting to take breaths in or takes really shallow breaths.
On top of all that I get chronic congestion, brain fog, memory problems, pain around my eyes, tinnitus, constant post nasal drip and extreme fatigue (I wake up every hour, that's just the ones I remember)
My life is hell, everyday I think about doing something stupid, I left my job because I wasn't capable of functioning like a normal human being anymore.
I think I'll take my chances with the surgery thanks.

    • @SullyTF2

odds are the surgery wont even fix chronic rhinitis long term, you probably have one or multiple underlying allergies causing the chronic sinus congestion, surgery wont do anything to fix that (source: I've had two of them to "fix" chronic rhinitis) first one did nothing at all and second one did nothing as well but also has given me ENS

Very little id say. There are multiple factors mainly turbinate organ damage that causes this suffering. ENTs are oblivious to how the upper respiratory and nervous system work in unison.

I mean these cases are rare people. Surgeons don't always mention ENS, because it's insanely rare. Scott was just one of those rare cases as well as the people commenting who suffer from it.. I had 4 nose Jobs, and I'm fine. It also depends on the type of procedure. I made sure when I had the 4th nose Job I mentioned to the doctor don't touch my Turbunmaites.

They continue to do these unecessary surgeries due to the brainwashing they get in med school and within their community. There is no consensus on what is standard for these surgeries. Think about it, athletes all over the world would be getting these surgeries left and right if it was so bullet proof. If you ask these ENTs if they would get a turbinate reduction surgery they go silent.
The truth is there is not a justifiable reason aside from a tumor or cancer to alter or suction anything relating to the turbinates. Anything outside of that is a crapshoot and everyone's turbinates are unique to ones size and body. They are extremely essential yet ENTs continue to do irrational procedures (no matter how conservative) with fancy gadgets that can cause irreversible harm. Beyond incompetent.
What is also deranged is how they think everyone heals the same. They hardly ever look at underlying health issues that could further contribute the chances of having complications such as Ens/post surgical turbinate injury. All about the money.

    • @KhalKhtri
      @KhalKhtri 2 года назад +6

The majority of turbinate and septoplasty procedures are unecessary. 9/10x turbinates swell up due to inflammation and nothing that is life threatening. Septoplasties are only necessary if there is trauma or major abnormalities to the septum (everyone has slight deviation). Word to the wise, don't be fooled by ear nose and throat marketing procedures. Especially when you still have the chance of treating your symptoms naturally. You will have the peace of mind in avoiding severe life altering injuries that aren't disclosed to patients pre op.
