I am a psychiatrist and I work in Spain. Amazing story, thank you so much. Your story fills me with hope, for my patients, you helped me understand them better and I am motivated to learn about neuroplasticity.
A big hug and thank you again for sharing your story of improvement.

      Glad you found it helpful.
I’m preparing my next vid on the neurobiology of biology and self help techniques we can use to improve our outcomes. I’ll discuss the importance of neuroplasticity in this vid.
The chapter on how to boost neuroplasticity will be ready later in the year.
Im so glad to hear a psychiatrist finds my work helpful, my next series of vids will cover the neurobiology of bipolar disorder that we can leverage and improve for ourselves; I think this should be of interest to you.
I’m hopeful that over the course of the next decade we will see major improvements in the treatment of mental health conditions.

You're one of the good ones! You care about your patients. You see them as human beings that hurts so badly.God bless you! I myself I am looking for help for my loved one. It never been diagnosed but everything points out to Bipolar, not so sure 1 or 2. It's a great suffering, unbearable and I was feeling so so hopeless but now there might be a light ahead.

Amazing man,we are all so proud of you,you pulled through when it could have been so easy to just give up. Please continue your work, the world needs more natural healing. Only last week I had a severe asthma attack combined with a extremely sore throat which made me choke when I coughed up pglegm, this induced an anxiety attack but only for the 2-3minutes of the coughing. When my doctor "examined" me he immediately said oh you have anxiety? here is some Xanex. I refused the xanex and after 3 days my throat healed enough so that I could cough normally without choking. it is unbelievable how doctors are so quick to push the benzo's at patients rather than looking at the real problem. If my doctor had even looked at my throat he would have seen it was very inflamed and prescribed maybe steroids to reduce the swelling. No, I could have been put in a life of addiction and pain because of ignorance.

Thanks for your talk. It is nice to see that some with bipolar are managing it and having a decent life. I also have managed my bipolar for many decades. The meds they used on me like Thorazine caused me to gain a ton of weight and at times made me feel like a zombie. Although I was in full blown mania at the start, for the rest of my life I just had brief periods of hypomania, but long periods of low grade depression. I learned to accept and deal with the depression with exercise, cognitive therapy, and writing a daily gratitude list. I'm very disciplined about a regular sleep schedule. Even if I do not sleep, I do not get up and move around. Lying in the dark, I probably get some short bits of sleep, but the lack of stimulation rests my brain. I want to get up and get on the computer, but I do not do it.

I am overcome with tears of relief and also fear as I am beginning to recognize and accept that I most likely have bipolar disorder. I am 33 and currently quite debilitated by another major depression episode, after having experienced what I am now realizing was a manic episode lasting for months. This is about the 3rd or 4th cycle that I am able to identify throughout my life, which has been spent mostly in low-grade to severe depression. Like you, I was suicidal by age 13. Absolutely heartbreaking to admit. Trauma. I am hopeful to begin this journey towards healing, though I know this is just the beginning. Thank you so much for sharing your story, you are truly an inspiration for me right now. I’m looking forward to watching the follow up video on your neuroplasticity protocol. Thank you again so much - may we all find the willingness and resources towards recovery and living a life of happiness

    • @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
      @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments  2 года назад +4

Well done on recognising the manic phases, this is a really important discovery. People can have unrecognised BP for years, only seeing the depression episodes.
To stop the depressions you have to stop the manias in the first place.
Manias rev up and exhaust the brain, the manias follow the depressions.
Also on order to treat the depressions without precipitating another cycle you have to be able to manage/prevent mania.

I think you’ll find my next series of videos on the biology and self help treatment options of bipolar disorder useful.
The first one will be an overview of a dozen biological manifestations of bipolar and what we can do to help ourselves control them and hence the condition. It should be ready in about 6 weeks.
I’m always delighted to hear where psychiatrists and doctors take an interest in my work. If there’s any possibility of collaboration or presenting my work I would love to do that. The current treatment options are so very limited and often problematic. Although there are several exiting new treatment methods being investigated progress is painfully slow.

I also used 5HTP, b complex and GABA.. Pretty much full time. Others too, but this was the main ones....I am so into getting better control over this and possibly seeing my son get off of these prescription drugs. What about extreme psychosis in mania? Your video was recommended to me today. I share many similarities with you. BD II, didn’t really accept the diagnosis as I never really thought the sleeplessness was because of mania. I stopped all prescription medications about six years ago. Doctors wouldn’t listen to my complaints and I didn’t feel the side effects were worth the risk. I been trying to manage naturally as much as possible by employing some similar methods that you touched on but I need to explore your other videos. So I am very grateful for your work here as it is timely and I hope will help propel me forward. Thank you for saying that.
A few years ago I started to follow the practice of ‘radical-honesty’, it feels clean and easier to live with, there’s even a wiki how page on how to do it! www.wikihow.com/Practice-Radical-Honesty
One consent in radical-honesty is when you lie you give away your power because you cannot stand in your own truth in front of the other person, you have to hide your truth from them.
When I’m late I don’t tel the lie sorry I’m late the traffic was awful, I say sorry I’m late I’m such at being punctual, because that’s the truth.
If someone says are you a free with me I don’t say no I’m not angry I just feel disappointed, instead I admit I do feel angry.
The important thing to remember with radical-honesty is it begins with being honest with yourself, admitting how you feel and your own bad behaviours; it is not a license to tell people how annoying they are but begins by admitting what button/trigger is in me that they push.

I have severe bipolar 1 with psychotic features, and have been searching for holistic solutions for maintaining control and balance for years now, and have found success but also have had lots of backsliding and multiple hospitalizations as well. I started taking lithium carbonate earlier this year (I'm at 300mg a day, but definitely considering lithium orotate as an alternative) and this in combination with a supplement (True Hope Empower Plus) and regular cardio exercise has got me in a pretty stable place, but there's definitely room for improvement!

I'm from Brazil and I discovered your channel by researching Lithium Orotate with English words (my language is Brazilian Portuguese).
Anyway. to ask if you would like 70 dental restorations performed with mercury decade amalgam. I say this because mercury is very toxic.

Your story is very similar to mine. I came here to the US as a kid. I always battle with phobias and later on panic attacks and some bouts of depression but never really thought something was wrong me with. I just thought that’s how life was. Later when I hit 30 I went in to my second bout of mental decline. I have never been to a doctor because of money and plus because I was not from this country so I’ve always had to just manage my self. This last episode I went through really took it out on me. I don’t even know how I made it through. All I could do was just pray. This is when I came to a realization that definitely I had some type of mental problem. I just never saw it. And I’ve always wondered why my brothers and sister never had the problems I did. Ever since then I have always battle with my emotions and thoughts trying to find a solution. It’s been now three years and I Can manage it somewhat but I still get bouts of depression and sometimes lots of anxiety. But I did notice how I can get very manic. Like I suddenly get bouts of energy and motivation but than I remember that it’s a trap. Setting me up for a low. So I try to just chill out and not get to motivated.

Hi Peter, which combination of natural supplements do you recommend for boosting serotonin?

    • @NaturalMentalHealthTreatments

There are many serotonin boosting supplements, there’s supplements that increase the production of serotonin and others that stimulate regrowth and regeneration of the serotonin pathways in the brain.
BUT before you boost serotonin synthesis with any supplements you must eliminate chronically elevated cytokines/inflammation because cytokines/inflammation directs serotonin metabolism away from serotonin towards the production of neuro-toxic quinolinic acid. If you take serotonergic supplements when you still have elevated cytokine/inflammation they may produce the opposite paradoxical effects and make things worse.
So first eliminate inflammation coming from:-
Over activation of the HPA axis, which may be genetically inbuilt in your system or from chronic stress,
An imbalanced diet, (omega 3:6 balance, inadequate pollyphenols/flavonoids, poor blood sugar/insulin control),
Poor gut microbiome, and/or gut infections SIBO,
      Leaky gut,
      Allergy disorder,
      High BMI (weight),
      Deficiencies: D3, magnesium et.al.,
      Smoking,
      Dental, gum disease,
      Inadequate sleep,
Current and even historical infections like Lyme, Epstein bar, streptococcus, ear infections, chest infections, sinus i infections…
Clean up ALL the above issues (this could take from weeks to months) then your serotonin metabolism will function in a non-depressive way and serotonergic supplements can work the way you want them to.

Thank you, that’s a nice thing to say.
From 11 to my late 40’s I didn’t want to be alive, even when I was not severely depressed I still wished I’d never been born.
For the past 14 years since I got the right diagnosis of BD 2 and started effectively treating it I fundamentally changed how I feel about my life. With my mental illness totally under control I’m happy to be alive, remember the first time I realised that my psychology had changed and I felt happy I’d been born. I guess for most people that sounds like a strange thing to say but when you live with constant mental illness life is a struggle.
I even found meaning in all the years of suffering I endured by seeing how through it I learned how to help others, so I feel no regret or lament over years lost to mental illness.
My big explainer video on bipolar should be ready by August 24.
      Again thanks 💛

Hiya mate,my mum was diagnosed properly in 2008,we went into care etc. Shes been medicated with injections since then. What is your daily schedule like? Do you exercise,im guessing you eat right. Shes always smoked cannabis, however within the last 7 years since she been on other drugs on and off. She went from 13stone to 7 stone, she has bipolar 1. Shes 43 now and i just want to help her change and watch her become better with how she speaks thinks, what she does throughout the day . Im interested in your studies etc as youve tried quite spiritual things. This is an interesting video,it goes to show how powerful the brain/subconscious can be,it is possible to rewire howrver its so complex and very diffcult. Im just want to help my mum ,im 20 and its very hard in a messy environment etc. I get her traits etc as im the one who shown her a video about her mental health which help her learnt more about it than ever. I resonate with alot of whay you say within this video, you seem to be into and want to study alot of what im intrigued in. I hope your well.
