U are a very talented analyst. Also he touched on how "the one in front of the gun lives forever." Could be interpreted to mean how we pay homage in memory to victims and their names live on. Rather than idolizing the and remembering the culprits
Great video - you explained so well so many reasons why I love this song. You even said most of us don't/won't experience what Kendrick and JayRock have but we can still relate to the messages and the emotions tied to the lyrics and music - we all have our own battles within the capitalistic system.
@@Ertwas17I get that completely. I try not to make any assertions that are outside of what is presented within the lyrics. The last thing I would want to do is put words in an artists nouth about their own stories/experiences.
such a great analysis deserves far more recognition than its gotten so far. i do genuinely hope to enjoy more of your videos in the future. I hadn't really put much thought into money trees before this video. and now that i've watched it, it definitely inspires some introspective thought and reflection. at least more than i had previously thought. I'd never really thought about apathy being a present theme within the song but thinking back on it, there's an abundance of it that i find myself relating to a lot. Thank you for this great video and much luck in your future endeavors! :)
GoodkidMaadlad if you ever read this I was asking if you now the meaning of the line where kendrick says the one who is in front of the gun lives forever can you kindly explain to meee
There’s a few interpretations. I’ve thought about this line a lot actually. Some seem to think it refers to victims going to heaven. Receiving ‘respect’ in the mortal world doesn’t compare to the everlasting afterlife. I view it more as Kendrick commenting on the sorrow of gang violence. So many people have been mourned and remembered by their communities. And sometimes in high profile examples; the public. They ‘live forever’ through the hearts of their families and community. Of course that’s just my interpretation:) I’m sure there are far more insightful analyses on this line haha
The apparent struggle hits so hard knowing where Kendrick Lamar ends up
This video dead ass deserves way more views your wayyyy too underrated for this, nice
Thank you so much, this really means a lot to me

This track embodies “weariness” and the sample fits that perfectly
