He's literally wearing an oversize pair of grand-dad tighty-whitey underwear, dyed bright red. What on earth was Gunn thinking??? You can see the stitching on the side. Seriously, that's literally a re-purposed pair of old man underwear!
This suit is atrocious. It definitely doesn’t fit him. It looks like it was bought off the rack at a thrift store. Also, I am not a big fan of the red underoos briefs. Makes him look like a little boy who’s playing Superman. I never understood this fascination with the shorts for a Superman suit. Instead of it being a suit and then the shorts are worn on top of the suit, everything looks like it’s just one continuous piece. Can anyone say CHEAP!!!!!! The belt definitely looks cheap. It doesn’t even look like a real belt. It looks like a kids Halloween costume where everything is just fake and made to look like a superman suit. If the suit is any indication of the quality of the movie, then this is going to be a horrific failure. Christopher Reeves Superman suit was fine for its time but Henry Cavill’s Superman suit is still hands-down the best Superman suit that we’ve seen so far. But what do I know. I talk in third person 😂.
I completely agree. The old suits are bad they're just dated and objectively Henry Cavills suit is the best. And I understand some people will like the new James Gunn suit but can anyone really agree that the material is right and that the suit doesn't look baggy?
Henry’s was to saturated with the colors and there was no belt to break up all the blue it wasn’t all that
@@butterstotch3233 it also had painted on muscles that just looked ridiculous

"Extra branding," "marketing". EXACTLY! I said this to someone who was defending the cape logo...it looks like merch more than an actual suit.
Yea I think it looks a lot cleaner without the s on the cape. I do think it is a funny premise that superman would be flying in the air but people wouldn't recognize him without the s on the back🤣
@@holdmydualshock 😆
The whole suit looks like it was made chiefly with selling toys in mind.
The suit reveals are getting progressively worse! It literally fascinates and nauseates me at the same that there are a lot of people out there praising morbid trash as masterpieces!! The MOS suit remains the superior suit and a filmmaker like Gunn is just incapable of coming anywhere close. The costume designers for the DCEU were the best in the history of comic book cinema.
It really is, it started out bad with him sitting down because it went against everything Gunn said it would be which is hopeful and bright and now it's even more obvious that the suit is ill fitting and an objectively just ugly. It looks like cosplay or a suit you would buy from Halloween from a big box store. It has no business in a big budget studio theatrical release. It would make more sense if this was an indie project.
The man of steel suit, cool as it is, IS NOT a superman suit, not even close
Don’t think Gunn can just copy & paste DCEU suits
Nah I like it, as a Superman fan of all mediums. Avengers Captain America suit was way worse. I wonder if you all read comics?
@@l.i.v.n.8837I wonder if you know not everything in the comics is gonna look good in live action. It's an outdated suit. This is garbage and you probably just a Marvel Fanboy
Where did the budget go?!
What budget? WBD is broke. There is no budget. 😂🤣 I think Zaslav's personally funding it from his pocket.
Likely to marketing which is not going to work! 🤣
Yea the title change has not had the effect they hoped for
@@AshrafAnamno budget? The literally got over 200M for this film.
Don’t listen to those shills. You are allowed to have your opinions. And it is a trrrible suit. It’s not flattering after all the work the actor put into his physique. I think you hit the nail on the head and brought up some good points
You like the cape 'cause it's the only thing that's common with the perfect Cavill suit. The rest of it looks like some cheap Walmart kids costume.
Yea the chest looks like the cheap foam they use in those kids' costumes
You sound slow lol, the cape is connected to the comics, not Henry Cavill suit, it has a different color, and has a different length, while even having the classic emblem.
“Perfect Cavill suit” 🤮🤮

It honestly looks like a suit bought at party city. Ive seen people say the movie's gonna be a success because the trunks and bright colors. Ummm Superman & Lois is succesful and Hoechlin's suit had no trunks and the colors were darker too. Even the most Comic Accurate suits (Affleck's batman, Momoa's Aquaman etc.) Had slight tweeks to make them look better in live action. Thisbhust looks like he's wearing a pijama with a diaper on.
Honestly the suits is the CW looked better. Not all of them but some of them. But even with the suit looking so bad they might some how find it in the edit I guess. Just doesn't really advertise that they know what they're doing
@@holdmydualshock If that's what they are going for, I don't get why. Too much CGI on a suit is noticable ( MCU Spidey & Black Panther), plus this isn't Iron Man or Cyborg where you need CGI for the suit. If they're going for the effects to touch it up, i don't expect theeffects to be any good, especially with how bad CGI in CBMs has been as of late
It insists upon itself
Hahaha I like the money pit...
Oh no it’s waltermart superman Halloween sale item

I don't believe that there's anyone out there who genuinely thinks this is a good Superman suit. They're just trying to stay positive while drowning in a sea of denial.

I like trunks on a Superman suit! I think they learned their lesson to not run away from that comic book vibe. This does look like it fits weird, but not judging it from these set photos. They'll do stuff in post, and they probably have a few suits. So this one we're seeing could be a stunt suit that has to have harnesses and pads under it or something. Their gonna spend enough on this movie to get this quality issues polished up. And different materials reflect light differently, so all those reds could be designed for different lighting.
I don't like Homelander's suit. For what it's worth. I think the pattern is distracting. The fits a little weird. And the pads look obvious.
party city costume
Yeah, Corenswet's suit so low quality. So baggy like Gunn and his production team are in so serious hurry for something.
It just looks like either too many people are making decisions or just not the right people
Yeah, good point
It isn;t baggy, it;s slightly loose for movement, and it also isn;t low quality, the material is high quality, ya'll always praise Reeves suit, even though his suit has the least quality.
A lot of people are saying the superman suit looks terrible but have anyone ever just think for a second that the reason Henry cavil suit looks so good because his suit was literally made on a kryptoian ship made with kryptoian technology and David corenswet superman suit is made by his earth mother Martha Kent so of course the suit is going to look like that I believe that the suit is going to get destroyed and the fortstress of solitude is going to make his kryptoian superman suit
Hi, I love your whole feedback on why you're not pleased with the new Superman suit. You pin pointed the exact same reasons I'm not a fan of the new suit. From the bulkiness to the trunks and the emblem behind his cape, everything about the suit asserts it's goofiness. My comment as to why the suit looks bad for my taste as a Superman fan is due to the rebooting of the DC Universe. You know this is a different Universe from the previous DCEU or Snyderverse as some may call it. We can as well say that this DCU is the Gunnverse. And let's make one thing clear, some sections of DC fans, love the new Superman suit. They say; for the fact that it's more comic accurate than the previous Henry Cavill suit. Even James Gunn once commented that he doesn't think Super Heroes should be taken too seriously. So the reasons you dislike the new Superman suit revealed in the new set photos taken in Ohio, Cleveland, are the same reasons these fans love the suit. Some even claimed that it has increased their interest in seeing the movie compared to the initial reveal of the suit.
You see, Man of Steel introduced a Universe that's more grounded in reality. With a Superman suit thats fits to modern times, one that the Hero could wear for a 10 or 20 year span of the universe. Which sets the tone for every other Heroes and Villains in that universe. But the problem started when Warner Brothers decided they'd reboot the universe. Now, we have a new universe with an entirely different tone. So we don't expect this universe to have the same aesthetic as to the previous one, even if it had a different studio head asides James Gunn. So maybe this universe is not so grounded in modern realities. Maybe it's okay to wear your underpants over your pants in this universe. So regardless of our numerous complaints and opinions as regards to the new Superman suit, we should be keen to respect the director's choice and the fans who are pleased with the costume.
Really a poor judgment call by Gunn on this suit. It is so bad I actually wonder if it is intentional so they get people discussing the suit before changing it.
All his judgment calls are bad. #FireJamesGunn #SaveDC
The argument : they gonna fix it in post.
I dont think they will.
They did with all the Marvel suits which is where Gunn comes from, the DCEU had a different approach with making tbe suits already perfect as they were, in Marvel it was common to have baggy suits they would later fix in post, just look at the Black Panther and Spiderman suits they looked baggy as hell in bts pics too
Nah, It still gonna be Trash. #FireJamesGunn #BoycottDCstudios #BoycottWBD #RestoreTheSnyderverse
The movie is giving me big Ryan Reynold's Green Lantern vibes. And we all know how that turned out...

The line texture of the Superman suit is unnecessary. Mr Terrific however looks pretty good.
That's cause Mr. Terrific just wears a jacket.
It looks like he has a diaper 😂 Everything about this movie the suit the pictures i'm not interested.
1) No collar above where the cape inserts into the shoulder line. 2) Drop the red and blue shade down about a half percent. 3) Anything "yellow" in the costume should be represented as either a brass or gold color/tone, flat yellow works for comics not real world. 4) Cape should never be any lower than widest part of calves. And 5) Costume material should be thin, not thick and look like scuba diving material. What's the point in having actor workout/bulk up if you're just going to have him put on thick padded material that hides everything and doesn't display the physique. I just don't get it.
This has always been a challenge for me....the superman suit actually needs no trunks!
Take the Dead pool and Wolverine movie as an example....the Wolverine 'comic book accurate' yellow suit has no trunks!
This is the modern era of superhero movies....the trunks serve no tactical purpose especially when you want the character 'Superman' to look believable!
The Man of Steel Superman suit is way better than this....
I am interested in the suit origin though....
Is it Kryptonian or did Clark's mother make this suit?
Just bring Snyder back

They did the same thing with Wolverine in the movie Deadpool Wolverine you can see that the bottom are a little loose around the thighs because they're not going with this spandex tights look same thing with Superman and anyways his suit doesn't Define who he is is his personality and his smile that determines and Define Superman
The suits for Deadpool an Wolverine still looked more form fitting. But I'm sure post edit it will look like the trailers we've been seeing.
But let's not pretend that the suit doesn't make Superman Superman otherwise people wouldn't have been arguing about whether or not he had the trunks, or the color pallet, and the logo on the cape.
All of those things make up the character and will define the role. Same reason 1st impression matter in real life...
@@holdmydualshock that's not true that's a very stereotypical perspective, if I go to a job interview and if my clothes are a little loose fitting but my qualifications and my personality match then then I will get the job based on my clothes that doesn't make sense

I don’t get it people got mad when Henry cavils Superman didn’t have trunks now people are getting mad that this suit has trunks does nothing please you?
Exactly & yet we comic book readers, know that Superman always wore red shorts. What’s the problem?
How do you not get that? People wanted the trunks for nostalgic reasons. Then Man of Steel took it out and people were only mad, because they said " Superman always had the trunks." Then they seen what Snyder was making, an updated Superman. And his suit made sense, because it seemed other worldly and organic. Plus, Henry wears the suit like a boss. People snapped out of the need for the underwear, because they realized they were holding onto it for no reason. It has no purpose to be there, no practical reason, especially with a belt holding up underwear. It was a throw back to the days of wrestling. So, yeah people changed their minds because the Man of Steel suit made people realize how silly it was. Why is that hard to grasp?
Besides, you seem to be just looking at the ones complaining, there are plenty of people that love the suit and are glad the underwear is back. That and it's already going to be in the movie, nothing is changing because people don't like it. So if you like it, then you can enjoy it.
@@itsalwayssomething7490 People were more angry at the fact that Henry's Superman killed people and was a cynical brood that got killed off in the 2nd movie only to be revived in the 3rd one LMAO, the lack of trunks was the least of the problems people had with Henry's Superman

Fair enough, thanks for commenting. What do you like about the suit?
Honeslty this is the best superman suit imo, it doesn;t have fake abs, fake muscle details all around the suit, also you saying no trunks is what let's me know what type of taste you have, and saying the return trunks were good! Horrible taste is all I have to say, and these are on set pics, so this is not proper lighting lol. And then saying the cw Ssuits are better is ridicolous, you just have sour taste.

@@WaitingForTheHook What a cop-out. I bet you call people racist misogynists if they don't like Disney Star Wars, too. Your comment has that same energy. "hey look, they don't like something. It must be for a reason that isn't real and they are just a cultist with no legitimate criticism, because everything is great."
I guess you are referring to the Cavill suit. In comics, Superman appears very muscular. I'm not a hater of this new suit, but I do think it looks more like a motorcycle jacket. David worked out, he got big, but that is not being enhanced at all in the suit. Why would you hide the fact that Superman is supposed to appear muscular? Besides, they will most likely fix the suit in post, which will just give him CGI fake muscles, instead of it being on the literal suit. So, I think your point is moot.
@@itsalwayssomething7490 I'm not only speaking of Henry Cavill suit, and the reason superman has so much revealing definition in his comic appearance, is because superman has a very tight suit I'm the comics, also he doesn't always have that look, all-star and the 90s series didn't have superman abs popping out his suit.

I cannot stand the trunks, I've never liked them. I always get pulled out of my sutured state when I see them. He just looks like he doesn't know that underwear goes under your outdoor clothes. Away with the trunks!
Yea, im "team no trunks" for sure. It definitely seems more like an example of simulacrum. The sole reason people seem to insist upon it is because they associate it with superman and don't think about how the designers of superman where trying to associate with a concept that no longer has any meaning in current pop culture. A modern superman movie where Martha Kent sews Clark's suit with the trunks would imply she is trying to create the connection to turn of the century strong men and not modern strong men. Or that she simply thinks it looks cool to have the underwear on the outside. Even the inclusion of the belt makes little sense when the shorts seem welded to the legs.
@@holdmydualshock absolutely!
@@holdmydualshock Modern strong men still use the trunks and leotards, bodybuilding contestants literally compete in underwear

I'm actually glad you can't see the muscles through his suit, because that's not how fabric works.
well i suppose it depends on the fabric but fair opinion👍
Why bother having the actor work out? Superman always appears to have muscles. Are you threatened by them or something?
@@itsalwayssomething7490 Christopher reeve worked out and you couldn't see his muscles through his suit. Muscles aren't what makes superman and it's really weird that you're threatened by someone who points out that muscles can't be seen through fabric.
@@Ash-Winchester I don't think you know what the word " threatened" means. And it seems you are the ones threatened by the appearance of muscles. To say you are glad you don't see muscles, screams so. But, I don't disagree with your other point. Gal Godot wasn't particular muscular, but she still exuded strength. She is a God. Superman doesn't necessarily need to be huge because his strength doesn't come from his muscles. But, the point in showing them is to make him appear capable and convincingly strong for the viewer. It's why he is always drawn with a skin tight suit and muscles protruding.
Cavil's Superman looked powerful. Affleck's Batman appeared much tougher and more threatening than Bale's Batman did, even though Bale's Batman was very capable. But, there is a reason Bane was as muscular as he was, because it gave the appearance that he was capable of breaking Batman. There is a reason Arnold Schwarzenegger was a convincing action star, because the appearance of muscles helps sell the idea that the person is strong.
Christopher Reeve worked out and bulked up, you can see his size through the suit. He wasn't cut up like Cavill. If Cavill wore the Reeve suit, you would see his muscles much more than we did when Reeve filled it out. But, yeah why would I want to see how Superman is portrayed in every single comic? F me, right?
@@itsalwayssomething7490 "And it seems you are the ones threatened by the appearance of muscles. To say you are glad you don't see muscles, screams so."
Or maybe I just like that the outfit is a little bit more realistic. Fabric in real life doesn't work the way it does in the comics, you're not supposed to see every individual muscle someone has because that's not how fabric works in real life. But apparently that makes me threatened somehow?
"But, the point in showing them is to make him appear capable and convincingly strong for the viewer. It's why he is always drawn with a skin tight suit and muscles protruding."
Ok, but muscles don't equal strength, though. There are plenty of people in real life who are about as a thin as a tooth picks and can easily lift way above their weight class. Not to mention the people who build strength by exercising the parts of the nervous system that are connected to their muscles So, showing off muscles isn't going to give him the appearance of strength, it's just going to give off the appearance of just a big guy. Plus, the audience already knows that his strength doesn't come from his muscles, so showing off muscles to show off strength is redundant.
"Cavil's Superman looked powerful."
Yeah, but not because of the fake muscles he was wearing under his suit, but because of the superhuman feats he displayed.
"Christopher Reeve worked out and bulked up, you can see his size through the suit"
You can't see every individual muscle though, same with brandon routh from superman returns. His superman had the appearance of a skinny guy. He didn't nee to bulk up or work out to convince people he was superman and he displayed much greater feats of strength than cavill did like when he lifted that kryptonite continent.
"If Cavill wore the Reeve suit, you would see his muscles much more than we did when Reeve filled it out."
No you wouldn't because that's not how fabric works, if you couldn't see christopher's muscles underneath his suit, then you certainly wouldn't see cavill's. Not to mention the fact that we don't know what cavill looks like in his superman suit without the fake muscles stuffed in there, so to say he would fill out reeve's suit more is a little baseless. For all we know he could be the same size reeves was.
"But, yeah why would I want to see how Superman is portrayed in every single comic? F me, right?"
If you want to see how superman looks in the comics, go read the comics. The movies are not supposed to be the exact same as the comics, which means that movie superman is not going to look exactly like comic superman because the movies are not set in te same universe as the comics. The way david corenswet's superman looks in this movie is what superman looks like in that universe. This is how it's always been and you're just now making it a problem? And I'm the one who's threatened here?
Yes they do I want to James Gunn to fail

Post-prod was supposed to improve The Flash, and look how that turned out. About the trunks you cant do anything about it with or without trunks its a win win, superman is literally called as the man of tomorrow no matter what the time or generation there will always be a superman with trunks. superman with trunks is a timeless symbolism if you see a superhero with trunks superman always comes to everyones mind, superman with trunks shows the cultural impact. you saying remove the trunks as times have changed we should change such thinking because i can see kids saying they dont like capes because the times are changing And at the times where people praise homelander and omni man i would rather have an old fashioned superman with trunks to teach kindness and show that even old fashion is good. And about the muscles, dude nobody wants to see it, the whole world knows superman is all powerful no need to show his abs and biceps to tell the world he is powerful. Makes me sad that zack snyder really destroyed the minds of people thinking superman is all about powers and strength, sexy body, by the way all time fans favourite superman comic is all star where he wears a baggy suit ,as dr manhattan said no matter what generation or times superman will always arrive on earth to show mankind what humanity means.
That's a whole of idiotic stuff you just said. Trunks have been absolutely unnecessary beyond the 50s. Nobody digs circus strongmen aesthetics anymore.
With the greatest respect, I really couldn't disagree more. The 50s sensibility, whilst appearing attractive was a product of a desire to socialise children 'into holding the right American values' etc. Today, we have seen through those limiting and ultimately problematic values. We cannot trust the state to have our best interests at heart whatever the government, our home lives are often completely devoid of apple pies cooling on the window sill, excessive 'pride in country' is divisive and can and is manipulated by individuals of ill will etc etc.
Your Superman is an anachronism from a golden age that never existed. He was a well meaning over developed doofus who thought that glasses were a disguise and that underpants are worn over your trousers, that really doesn't fly anymore. The cloak however, makes him look badass and otherworldly.
I don't say all of this to be combative but I really believe that 50s/60s Superman really needs to be consigned to the past, to a time when we believed the ridiculous propaganda we were told designed to make us conform to a series of lies about our society.

Atticus Finch is more of an icon. Heaathcliff, Beowulf, Achilles etc... Superman doesn't touch them. Nobody is talking man of steel. Do you think this looks better than Reeves, or Rouths suit (in return or the KK suit)?
@@holdmydualshock James Gunn superman is the best Superman suit it's comic accurate
@dukeheavens9990 Superman's costume is not a biker jacket with diapers , Superman and Lois suit is 10x better than this
Need to see a trailer. You guys you are so used to Henry cavils Superman suit. You don't know the tone or feel if this movie just yet
Nobody Cares, You Snyder Cultist Hack!!! #FireJamesGunn #BoycottDCstudios #BoycottWBD #RestoreTheSnyderverse
I can actually tell that Gunn really used his debt properly into making this suit. It's completely baggy, he one hundred percent looks like he's wearing diapers, has a terrible design for his costume. Plus the S on his cape, come on, we're not going back to kindergarten again. The cheesy constant smile of his character, that's doomed for an epic fail. Nobody wants to see that kind of Superman. No wonder Gunn showed that picture of him putting his boots on slowly while Metropolis was getting destroyed. He was ashamed to show his suit to the world and humiliate himself as Gunn's first superhero. I wouldn't even volunteer to go anywhere near that pedophile's universe. If i had the choice to choose between the DCU or Marvel in it's declining state, I'd choose Marvel.
Gunn's doing what he does best. Turn things he touches to stinky $hit. 💩
Yeah, We stick with Snyderverse Instead, You Snyder Cultist Hack!!! #FireJamesGunn #BoycottDCstudios #BoycottWBD #RestoreTheSnyderverse
say you don't like comic accurate superman without saying you don't like comic accurate superman. the suit is perfect it's the best looking live action superman suit to date imo.
Comic accurate superman's suit was skin tight. I don't remember him having bulges and ripples in his suit that made it look like he was hiding padding... if you mean the trunks then yeah I guess
@@holdmydualshock have you ever seen a superman comic? his suit isn't skin tight it's only been New 52 that popularized skin tight superman suits. look at superman comics from the 50s.
@@Infuegodon't waste your time with these fools that don't know anything about the comics or the characters and even try to judge some set pictures that will looked totally different in the movie
Ah yes it's it's foolish to enjoy discussion something we are passionate about. Only a fool would deny themselves the opportunity to bond with another fan over a shared passion, even if they have different opinions.
Just want to say i appreciate the conversation you are bringing to the comments. Let's be honest their are many different suits in many different comics. Many are if not "skin tight " far tighter than this. The suit most talked about being baggy is the one from all star and that bagginess is not translated on the page to the degree this photo does.
There are suits without capes. Without shorts. Different colors. I personally think that if you read a lot of comics the idea of comic book accurate does not have the significance when being adapted to screen. Largely because simply giving superman the quintessential suit wouldn't mean a whole lot if the execution is poor. Imo the execution of this suit is poor. It looks more like a marvel suit than anything from dc. It imo demonstrates a desire to signal that they have read comics by smashing together things they think will be popular.
That said in your opinion what is the best comic book suit and which one would you most want to be used in a movie because the 2 could be different.

Nope!!! #FireJamesGunn #BoycottDCstudios #BoycottWBD #RestoreTheSnyderverse
As usual, you Snyder fans will be eating your words when the movie comes out. Just say you don't like comic accuracy.
Snyder is a comic accurate director.
At least with this suit you know it's superman
Man the complaints are dumb probably from newbies
Or Snyder Fans
NOPE❗️ They failed with the design of this suit. But people who are praising it are in denial. After seeing what it looks like close up in better lighting I 100% agree that this looks like a cosplay fan-made costume. The red underwear doesn’t help whatsoever. This ain’t the 1930s. The underwear needs to be left in the past.
