I have a poster of this quote on my wall, looking at it helps me remember that masterpieces like these exist
Best movie ever. The Top ranked movie in IMDB rating. A Classic Masterpiece ❤❤
Agreed ❤️
@@wadumin Hii bro. Please watch mimi movie
I acted in Shawshank for two months, the summer of 93. Great experience. 😊
Woww really?? What role were you playing
Cool! Congratulations on having what I can only imagine to be an amazing once in a lifetime experience!
@@wadumin He was one of the background prisoners. The one scene I know he was in was when the inmates were taunting Andy and the new prisoners upon arrival. He is standing behind Alfonso Freeman pointing at the inmates. I also believe he was in the shower scene when Andy was confronted by Boggs. I can't positively ID him though. I'm sure there are others when the inmates were grouped around in the yard or out in the fields.
U were great i liked ur acting,
lol, still milking that?
As far as King adaptations go, this is one of the better ones. It helped that the source material was a great story, but it’s easy to mess up when adapting written work. Especially when the writing is largely narrative and in first person like this novella is. Thankfully, the film didn’t miss. Beautifully illustrated messages of friendship and hope, great acting, and just an engaging story overall. Really enjoyed watching your enjoyment of the film! Fantastic reaction! Thanks for sharing!
Beautifully said, thank u for watching ❤
I agree ! A true masterpiece. The Green Mile is a worthy contender too 😊
Darabont really *gets* Stephen King.
The character "Red" in the Stephen King novel was supposed to be Irish. However, when Frank Darabont and casting director were looking for someone to play the role, they selected Morgan Freeman. So, the joke Red makes about being Irish, is an inside joke due to the casting change.
Oooo that's brilliant
"I hope."
The best final line of any movie ever.
It's precious ❤️
I don’t know how many times i have seen this movie.! But everytime it feels new and fresh ❤️
It's just special ❤️
Bit of trivia I thought of when you asked at the end to "let me see it". Originally the movie ended with Red on the bus saying "I hope", but when it was screened for test audiences, most of them were disappointed that they didn't see an actual reunion with Andy, so they eventually added it in. Either way, works for me. Hope was ultimate gift Andy could've offered Red. Turned out Andy had it in abundance, along with a brilliant long term plan, that a big God damned poster.
I'm so glad they added that, that was ultimate satisfaction
Your reactions are authentic, spontaneous, insightful, and reflect my own when I first saw this movie. Your kind heart shines throughout the video. Such a pleasure sharing with you. ❤
Wow, thank you sm my friend, much love ❤️
Yound man, 2024 I am a 71 year old pensioner and still watch this MASTERPIECE and acclaimed one of the best movies ever made. Glad you see the meaning of the film, Redemption, Friendship, Love and HOPE. Dave in Guernsey, Channel Islands. When you are feeling down, watch this again and you will have a beautiful life.
I really LOVED that you were the only reactor to believe in Andy's innocence from the start!!!! ❤ How marvelous. People generally doubt him throughout the movie, until it's revealed that he's in fact innocent. But not you! You're really good at reading people 😊
Thanks iulia, i appreciate it ❤😃
Тим Роббинс на самом деле выдающийся актёр. Он может сыграть практически всё. Все говорят про Моргана Фримена. Но Тим Роббинс заслуживает максимальной оценки за своё актёрское мастерство.
In the book Red plotted to stop the brakes working in his wife’s car and she picked up a friend and the friend’s child going into town. All three died. The movie leaves this ambiguous.
Just finished watching. Wonderful reaction friend. Keep them up and I will keep watching.
Woww that's sad, thanks for letting me know, and thanks for watching budd❤
AS AN INDIAN MY EXPOSURE TO INTERNATIONAL MOVIES WERE ONLY LIMITED TO FRANCHISE MOVIES LIKE HARRY POTTER, JURRASIC PARK, AVENGERS ETC, BUT SINCE LOCKDOWN I ACTUALLY STARTED WATCHING WESTERN CLASSICS , AND SHAWSHANK WAS THE 1ST ONE.......I MUST ADMIT I DIDN'T WANT TO WANT TO WATCH IT AND I WAS A BIG FOOL , AND WANTED TO WATCH SOMETHING ENTERTAINING, BUT MY YOUNGER BROTHER FORCED ME TO WATCH IT, AND FOR THE 1ST TIME IN MY LIFE I FELT MY BROTHER GAVE ME THE BEST ADVICE, CANT DESCRIBE IT IN ADJECTIVES, JUST WANNA SAY THAT THIS MOVIE TOPS THE CHART OF IMBD IS ABSOLUTELY JUSTIFIED ❤.
Wow 😍❤️
Funny that when that one guy talked you said it made you think of Percy from the green mile. That guy played the dad of the two dead girls on the Green Mile.
Whoaaah really? What are the odds hahah
Yeah man even i saw this movie last year and this movie made me think and thats how you know, you saw a masterpiece cause it made you think. Brook death broke me and when Andy and Red met I felt satisfied. I love your reactions man the way you express all your emotions is just heart warming. Love from India ❤
Very well said bro, i appreciate it ❤
Congratulations for 20k 🎉🥳
Thank u sm 😍❤️
The two life sentences make it so you can never get paroled.
Aaaa i see
Red: "That's just a shitty pipe dream."
Then Andy escapes via a shitty pipe. Beautiful.
And the Bible is opened to the book of Exodus.
Absolutely genius ❤
This isn't Andy's story. It's Red's. He was the one redeamed. His name is even in the title..
Yesss❤
A reaction and movie edit for the ages. Really nailed both for this one!
I appreciate it my friend ❤
After Red says early on that "Hope is a dangerous thing," I love that the last words of the movie are Red saying "I hope."
Omg exactly, so well written
This is the best reaction of this movie....hearing the beautiful dialogues of Morgan Freeman I felt the same as you man!!...and the last scene made me feel relaxed and soul refreshing...I thought about this movie whole night when I watched it for the first time💌
I appreciate it man, this is indeed incredible, thanks for watching ❤️
Its our duty to share this movie with our Future generations. This story by King and the movie, will be an American legend, like Mark Twain and others.
Absolutely ❤️
Well said
In the book, Red is actually Irish. For the movie, they chose Freeman as he was obviously perfect for the role. Freeman wanted to keep the line "maybe its cuz I'm Irish" and spoke it as a joke.
I don’t know about the book, but in the film, his last name is Redding. Maybe they changed it for the film to give a plausible reason for his nickname to be Red?
That's brilliant, he was indeed perfect for this character
This story first appeared in a novella entitled “Different Seasons”. The concept was that each story represented one of the four seasons. This was spring. Hope SPRINGS eternal.
Oooo that's just brilliant
@JohnWelsh-oz3jz: Actually that was the BOOK "Different Seasons" - book of four ( 4 ) novellas* by famed, mainly horror fiction, author Stephen King.
And, yeah, each story was subtitled by each season of the year. And, yes - it was "Spring," "Hope Springs Eternal." The novella was "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption."
*novellas = a novella is a story that is longer than a short story, but shorter than a novel.
@@wadumin: No, what is brilliant is ME ( modestly speaking. lol! 😉 ) But, seriously - see MY explaination to JohnWelsh-oz3jz, above.
@@robertc.1958 Yes, you’re right. I misspoke. Thank you.
No matter how many times I've seen this movie since the first time I saw it in theaters, no matter how many reaction channels I watch, Brooks' death still gives me chills...
This movie is a masterpiece, even 30 years later
So happy to see your reaction to this wonderful movie..
PS: waiting for mozhi
Thanks for watching, I'll check it out 😉❤️
"some birds arent meant to be caged, their feathers are just too bright."
Bro ive watching ur reaction for a while and i can tell u ur reaction is pure and authentic, Thanx for this reaction mate....... Big fan..............
I appreciate that my friend, ur the best ❤️
@@wadumin Jadooverse🙃
This movie features a triple conclusion structure. There are three climaxes - the first when Andy saves himself by escaping, the second when he defeats and destroyed the antagonist, and the third when he saves his friend then reunites with him. Another movie that used this structure was Back to the Future. It works brilliantly if the writer can pull it off.
So true and i absolutely loved it, gotta watch the other movie that you mentioned too ❤️
55:24 They arent showing Andy because ths is Red's story. His redemption. Andy is the main character in Red's story that he tells us of his life on the inside and how Andy gives him hope enough for redemption.
Omg yes, absolutely genius and beautiful
Multiple life sentences are so if you get one conviction thrown out due to a technicality, you still have the other one to serve.
Or, if you're eligible for parole and get it, the next sentence then kicks in.
I see, now it makes sense
@@waduminit's often used where they don't have the death penalty, and a life sentence is the worst they can give out, but the crime is considered too great for just one life sentence, they add multiples.
Thomas Newman wrote the score for this movie. He is a master of his craft and has written scores for many movies. He has a very distinctive style that draws you in.
Ooof i really enjoyed his work in this ❤
I always watch the reaction to Brooks in these... its how i decide if i want to keep watching the reactor
I can understand, that scene was just so sad
This was one of the best reactions to this movie.
Excellent
I really appreciate it my friend ❤️
He's releasing a new movie (positively this year) called life of chuck which is another Stephen king adaptation. It'll be his first movie since Shawshank.
Oooo I can't wait for that
Man, havent seen this in years! Great reaction! Keep being sweet! 😊
Thanks for watching Hannah ❤
We quote this movie all the time it’s rare to see a male bonding relationship on film but the narrator hands down best part and Brooke’s that actor came out of retirement to play this part and he nailed it the music evokes a presence that keep your heart breaking way to go Stephen king you do drama better than horror and that’s saying something when your books keep me up at night
He was not lucky with the thunderstorm, he waiting for it to be forecasted to decided to escape.
Wowww
He told Red he was in the path of the tornado but didn't expect it to last so long. So, he decided to use the storm to escape.
Great reaction!! Then scenes where they open red's file, that's Morgan's son!! Also hope is my word!! ❤️
This and The Green Mile are among the best artistic works ever created.
Definitely agreed ❤
Hi I just met you today..and your reaction was so heartfelt and authentic to this amazing film.. i am a a fan of yours..looking forward to more film reactions..peace.
Hi linda, thank you sm for watching, really happy to have you here ❤
16:40 I love this shot when Boggs turns the light on and Hadley's just standing there waiting. That's straight-up Michael Myers-ish.
Hahah same, that whole scene was so satisfying
For almost every scene of this masterpiece of a movie I can see in my mind’s eye the actual locations filmed and named because I was born in Portland, lived in Buxton and it does have many hayfields and passed by the prison Tommy mentioned called Thomaston many times going to visit relatives in the nearby town. I really don’t know how they made the locations look like the real places unless they had someone scouting the locations here in Maine and then matching the filming locations in Ohio but in my opinion it was spot on. So needless to say this movie is my absolute all time favorite.
Amazing, thanks for watching Mike ❤
It's always feel so relaxed to watch different movies with you mann ❤❤❤ a good day turned into a wonderful day 😍😍

Allen Greene was screenwriter/director Frank Darabont's first agent, who helped him get his start in Hollywood. Greene died of AIDS during the filming of The Shawshank Redemption, and Darabont dedicated it to his memory.
Thanks for letting me know my friend, RIP to him ❤
Also in the book Red was actually a red headed Irish guy... but i would never trade anyone else for Morgan Freeman
Righttt, he absolutely nailed it
Congrats Amin for 20k subs.... 🤗
Thanks a ton ❤️😍
Legendary movies...best inspiration movie i have ever watched
Sameee, it was fantastic
The longer sentences mostly affect their chances at parole later on.
Thisss is one of my favourite movie ❤❤ so glad that u made a reaction video on it❤❤
Thanks for watching ❤
@@wadumin It's My Pleasure 💞
bro your reaction is the best! 🫡
Thanks man, much love ❤
The year 1994 produced my two most favorite movies of all time. The Shawshank Redemption which is a flawless masterpiece and in a very close 2nd place is Forrest Gump another masterpiece.
I gotta watch the other one too❤
My town has a Facebook page and sometimes people will post pictures of our town from the "long gone days". So I look at familiar locations from the 60's or 70's, and compare to what they look now: they are literally from a different planet! The architecture, cars, fashion, city planning, the absense and then the appearance of international brands (read US of A products), even to the cultural shift from needing a film store to develope your photos to iPhones and cloud services for your social-masturbation exercises. Wild stuff. Hello New World Order.
"Hard to get..., I like that." YIKES !
Yikessss
You are One of my favourite reactors.
Masterpiece. He's not lucky with the thunder Wadumin, he knew before going out there would be a great chance to have thunder thanks to the thunderstorm all the day before. He has been waiting for this occasion...pressure and time :) Andy Dufresne is my hero.
He absolutely thought about everything, GENIUS
Respectfully, I truly hope you take the time to watch this again. It's just I feel like you're missing a lot of the subtle details of this movie that make it so great. Of course, this is a reaction video and we're watching to get your reaction.
This is just one that really deserves a second watch. You'll be glad you did.
Notice the sound of a harmonica when Red is moving along that rock wall towards the tree?
Just a little info, in the novel, the end is different, the end is when Red is in the bus and think : I hope.......I hope.....I hope. But all the movie is very accurate.
Sorry for my bad english, i'm frenh.
Best wishes from France
I'm glad that we got to see Red and Andy reunite in the movie, thanks for watching my friend ❤
@@wadumin Ironically, director Frank Darabont agreed with @marjofrance83 - the reunion scene was not originally included in the film, with the ending being more in line with the final scene of Stephen King's novella: Red on the bus repeating the things that he hopes for. However, Castle Rock felt that ending was too ambiguous and unsatisfying - the reunion scene needed to be there to give the audience payoff and closure, and the production company agreed to pay for the extra shoot after test audiences reacted the same way. More was filmed of the reunion scene, but Darabont felt the dialogue was a little too much and decided to include just what we see in the film - which turned out to be exactly the right choice.
Tim robins came full circle in a show called silo. He plays a warden in that show. Come full circles.
The sad fact is that Jake (in the book he belonged to another prisoner) died a little later after his release. He died of hunger, because he never got food for himself; he does not know how to live in freedom. Just like Brooks...
Classic masterpiece
3:50 ok to explain multiple "life" sentences. Let's say after 30 years you get patrolled you would still have to serve "life" for the other person you killed
I see, thanks for letting me know ❤
For another great Stephen King adaptation, please watch Stand By Me (1986). It was another novella in the same collection as this one, Different Seasons. 3 of the 4 stories were adapted into film. The other is Apt Pupil (1998).
Loved the reaction, ty for making it long! You have to check out Misery, also based on a Stephen King's book.
I appreciate it brother, I'll definitely check it out, thanks for watching ❤️
If you like Morgan Freeman, there are two movies I could recommend. The first is Glory. It's about the first African Americans recruited in the US Civil War. It also stars Denzel Washington and numerous other actors/actresses in supporting role. The other is Driving Miss Daisy about a driver hired by her son to look after her.
I love the man, I'll definitely check out ur suggestions, thank u ❤
A two-hour long movie about a man's horrible life in a men's prison? On paper, it shouldn't work, but holy crap does it ever work.
I've got a couple of movies to recommend to you. GLORY with Morgan Freeman & Denzel Washington and 42 with Chadwick Boseman.
I loved your movie reaction and hope you like these recommendations. Btw, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you. 😀☺
I'll definitely check them out, happy new year to u too 😍❤️
About that 19 years in prison while being innocent, that happened to a lot of young black men in Chicago, in the 1980's, when police detective John Burge framed a lot of these innocent young men, by making then so vulnerable that they would confess to crimes they hadn't even done! The Innocence Project has helped free many of these galsely convicted, imprisoned innocent men, unfortunately, after many years in prison. Very sad time in Chicago's past. It makes me wonder how many other innocent men and women are still behind bars in this country!
This was an Audrey classic. It lightly masks a serious subject that could've ended in tragedy, as both were working the high-end sex industry. Should definitely try Roman Holiday.
Audrey has an amazing life story. She and her family worked for the resistance during the second world war and she eventually became a refugee from Nazi Europe. She did a lot of work for UNICEF.
Gotta do good will hunting. Tropic thunder, saving private Ryan, gladiator, braveheart, Forrest Gump, field of dreams, rain man, dead poets society
50:59 The warden had the bible with the hammer inside and gave it back to him saying "I wodnt wanna deprove you of this"
Red, the narrator has planned and carried out his wife's murder by disabling her brakes killing her and her two passengers. Stephen King's novel provides the answer
Dang that's horrible, thanks for the info ❤️

49:14 he wants freedom. This reminds me of eren Yeager 😂 ( the protagonist of the greatest show / anime of all time - Attack on titan )
Ooo I've heard a lot about that
@@wadumin you should definitely give aot a try believe me - you have not watched something more mind blowing than aot. You will not at all regret it, because the story is a literal masterpiece. Just watch it for your fun not for the channel or for reaction. ( If possible then react to it , their are tons of reacters reacting to anime related stuff so you can too )
When Andy “blew town with better than $370,000 of Warden Norton’s money” that’s the equivalent of over 3.5 million in January 2024. (I just thought you might find that interesting).
That is A LOT OF MONEY 💀🤣 thanks for the info man❤
Fun fact: Kevin Costner turned down the role of Andy for Waterworld which failed.
I have watched this more than 10 times
I gotta do the same hahah
bro when are u reacting to Tarzan the wonder car...literally told u so many times😅
also react ABCD(Any Body Can Dance)
Hahah I'll check it out brother ❤
3:55 Yes, a person cannot live longer than one life to give him more than one life sentence, lol. The point here is different - each life sentence must be justified SEPARATELY. That is, the more life sentences, the more difficult it is to leave early
As now you have started to react to thesr type of classis movies i really want you to react to some of Christopher nolan work like inception ( mind blowing) , Interstellar ( masterpiece ) , the prestige ( magical ). And some dangerous adventure movies like the shutter Island ( this movie has the biggest twist ) and obviously you should definitely check out of the greatest trilogy of all time ( the dark knight trilogy)
I've seen the interstellar and batman trilogy a long ago, I'll definitely check out the other ones ❤
In india there are short period punishments for some crimes ( obviously not for killing or rape ) . But Indian law belives that you can't be criminal for all your life you can change your behaviour
For some people that's true yup, but some are just too evil
@@wadumin yeah absolutely right 👍🏻
A life sentence is generally around 25 years
You REALLY SHOULD checkout the movie of the book that they referenced in the movie... THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. It's a Classic story. Another one that's similar is THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK with Leonardo DiCaprio. 😃
Oooo sounds great, I'll definitely check them out ❤️
I'm a Bengali Indian, and in July 2023 I had a retinal detachment surgery, that time I couldn't see anything on phone as my eye was injected with a gas bubble , so listening was my only source of entertainment for about 2 months, you know what, I was hearing many classic stories in Bengali in audio form, but the top 3 ones has to Alexander Dumas' stories, The Man in the Iron Mask, The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo.........these 3 stories were the 3 best memories of those two months, and probably one of the best memories in 2023, there was anxiety related to my surgery, but listening to these 3 classics just made me forget everything and gave me so much joy.
@@debosmitaganguly3961 hope ur completely recoverd now my friend ❤️

I have seen it years ago, i remember very little of it, i might rewatch it ❤
16:49 Don’t f*** with the money! Especially another man’s money!
so to answer your question on why they would give a punishment of two life sentences or 900 years ect, the reason they do it is for appeal or mistrial. if something happened in the case at trial if one of the life sentence's get overturned you still have your sentence of life in jail. kind of hard to explain but its basically to make sure your locked up your entire life no matter what
Thanks for letting me know, much love ❤
also also the money Dufresne took would be equal to like 3 million usd today

As a kid of the 80's... I remember those playing cards with naked women. My older brother had a set, and I would, when possible, snatch those, and go to a private place to look at them bews. I must admit, those ladies (maybe from the 70's?) had curves to share and my pre-teen brain was firing 4th of July. My only regret: one time, when I had an argument with my brother, I snitched on him to our parents. His whole collection of adult entertainement. Later in life I have repented my transgression against my brother. Those treasures could have been mine, in a few years! Youth is the time of stupid, I tell you.
Hahah oh wow, thanks for sharing this my friend, i guess I'm still too young but i do agree with u 🤣❤️
