The best was at 1:00:16 as you mention with that cyber double rocket hit dropping you from 200 to 16 health in an instant, and the shell shocked "can... can I get that mega? Is this for real?". The orange and blue in this are such a unique and beautiful combination. There's cohesion to the detail, yet it still looks like pure chaos. Shows how seasoned Insane_Gazebo is as a mapmaker

Sunder is in my opinion a work of art. The maps vastness, complexity and attention to detail is breataking. Its like looking at a Da Vinci or Michelangelo. My farvorite map is the furnace. Somehow it reminds me of the mines of moria from the Lord og the rings, combined with its simple yet ominous ambient music.
The glide glitch is known for so long now. I wonder why still you/mappers dont make the gaps between bars a little bit smaller so that players cant glitch through? Just wondering^^

I was finally made aware of them when I returned, but when maps get really big it just gets easier to miss stuff both by me and the testers. Can't really answer for other mappers, though.
Zero Master, the Master of Glide! Not only this map is a masterpiece, as it resembles ancient cultures building structures pretty well, but Zero Master shows his skills in a legendary run. I guess this is a new record and you didn't have to beat Okuplok this time, since this map is relatively new and didn't exist back then. This has been all an endurance test, and proves by far you are definitely one of the chosen ones. Player of the Doom World Elite, I salute you, and I will follow you to whatever UV projects you chose to come next. But if suggestions accepted, Dark Tartarus would make my day, month and year.
These maps are so visually impressive. I'd have loved to have played that back in the 90's but then again my x486 would likely have gone up in smoke if I tried running any of the wads.
It was interesting watching you do most of the fights regularly. I am used to watching you basically skip the entire map and then mop it all up but this was cool to watch it progressed in generally the intended order. Except for the last fight of course. As usual thank you for the great content.

What's interesting about this run is that when ZM takes the secret exit at the end, he does it at just about the same time the soundtrack finishes playing. Genius.

Was watching a playthrough of Sunder's map 20 recently thinking of how gorgeous it looks The architecture all feels cosmically large and cold. If kid me could see in the 90s I'd have gone bonkers
1:15:22 How easy is that glide though? I freaked out just looking at you do it! You are more than 1 hour into the run, and can be hit by a rocket at the back if you don't do it quick enough. Glides are common enough in your speedrun, but a glide with an urgency is not so common. This is worth watching just as much than a regular fight!
@@T3sl4 yeah map02 just has 20 shotgun hitscanners spawning like crazy on nightmare difficulty. in my opinion map02 is definitely the harder situation since the long hallway allows for time before u can get rocketed in the back. the hitscanners dont work that way.
@@T3sl4 the real trip was when he was rocketted by the triple cyberdemon and went from basically full hp/arm to 12% hp, luckily he was standing next to a megasphere AND the cyberdemons did die.
well it varies a lot, even though this one is nearly 90 minutes it took less time to both route and complete compared to map14 which was under 10 minutes and took quite some time with both routing and attempts. If I had set a goal of under 60 minutes it would have been very different (assuming that's even possible). So essentially however long it takes to reach a certain goal, but if the goal is to survive or the time goal is pretty easy then the answer is not long... at least so far.
I remember the 10:20 part being so hard, not only because of archviles mixed in with revenants (if you slack they will repopulate the map with cacos), but also enormous lag I encountered in this part, even on my modern computer. Crazy skill on ZM's part.
I posted a video of a map 16 max recently, and in my opinion that map is not that bad if you use decent strategies, honestly. Especially for you. Also, how about map 20?
He wasn't hit by any tracers due to bad angle. BFG balls are notorious for doing very unreliable random damage - up to 800, yes, but also can be as low as 100. That's why you try to use BFG against crowds or at close range - making sure the invisible bulk of its power doesn't go to waste.

I was a solitary doomer, and looking forward new exciting content, I came across new stuff (wads and mods) and heard of Elite Players, Doomers with exceptional skills far beyond the best players out there to be, like Zero Master for example, and joined doom multiplayer community just in the hope to meet those legends. I succeeded and met some of them, and oh boy, they are up to the Legends spoken of.
I... am not even sure maps that big were designed with single-segment _playthroughs_ in mind, let alone speedruns. Knowing you, I suspect that you might try a more aggressive route eventually, but even so, I don't expect this to be beaten by anyone else anytime soon.
OMFG! This run is a convincing proof that doomguy never, NEVER EVER, and i mean NEVER skipped leg day!! Those stairs are strong in this one, Outstanding run!!
Question: wouldn't it be more efficient to initiate that last fight through the glide and then do the pit sequence or the pinky revenant fight around it?
the reason I didn't do it immediately is because I need the ammo on the inside (100 rockets + 600 cells), but doing it before the rev/pinky fight could probably have been better, but I also need to put myself in line of sight of the monsters inside to get infighting going, so I'm not sure how much time it would save.. but yeah it was just easier to survive this way.

It was amusing to see Zero Master squeeze back through the bars and watch the final army of demons infight itself to death, but it terrifies me to think of having to nail a speed trick on the first try when you're seventy minutes into the run.

This is the exact same glide as map02 in doom2, so it's something I have done 1000+ times by now and so it's no issue.
Though MAP02 doesn't have five Cyberdemons coming up behind you. But a Master can shrug that off, no problem.

The thing is, ZM is so practiced at gliding that it's almost instinctual for him by now.
