Martial Champion (マーシャルチャンピオン) is a 1993 fighting game released for the arcades by Konami. It was Konami's third fighting game after the 1985 releases Yie Ar Kung-Fu and Galactic Warriors and the 1986 release Yie Ar Kung-Fu II, and their first release that came after the success of Capcom's 1991 arcade hit Street Fighter II.

It's a shame that Konami didn't make more fighting games in the 90's, because the ones they did make were usually really good. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters is still one of the best.
I agree with you, even in the 90s Konami was a reputable company. But they lacked a strong vision on what genres they wanted to focus on. Now the only foghting game under their name is Skull Girls, but more as publishers than developers
@@mohammedalnahyan4604 Konami doesn't even have Skullgirls anymore. The devs had to severe ties with them in 2013 due to Konami not wanting to communicate, and now Autumn Games is the publisher.
Still, if Konami weren't so busy making nothing, they could at least give us a new Bloody Roar.
@@otaking3582 Konami never knew how to take advantage of the Hudson buyout. Bomberman and Bloody Roar are two very good series.
It's a good thing Konami gave up on fighting games, because this game is ass😔
Konami is not good at fighting games, beat n run games in arcade. (but really good in making games in FC). This one is just another failure.
How nice of Konami to give us some nice, floppy cheesecake for Rachel's ending!
Ryu and Ken were so excited back there on that first stage. Great play!
I absolutely loved this game in the arcades.
Hoi was my main and the Kubiki guy was second.
Rachel is probably the thickest female fighter I’ve seen in any fighting games to date
Until Ivy from Soul Calibur took the throne…
@@CanadianRedEnsignCountryball Rainbow Mika beats them both lol
Oh yeah, I remember Martial Champions. Rachel was favorite fighter. I played a lot of this game back in the arcades.
Racheal the only reason people remember this game
Ti-ti is rather memorable too. He's the only character I remember playing in this game
I mostly remember the game for Avu.
To be fair she seems to be the "main" character. She's plastered all over the arcade cabinet and is the most prominent character in the intro for the console port.
She too thick not to remember!😂
Yeah, especially for her big boobs and her thong leotard.
Thank you for posting this, I had vague memories of this game, but could never remember what it was called.
I remember playing this game as a kid in the arcade in the laundromat. Rachel was my favorite
Early man of culture
Akane wants to discuss that with you....
Titi and Chaos' names were flipped around between regions
(just like Boxer/Claw/Dictator's names in various regions in the Street Fighter franchise)
I remember this at the arcades where I lived. It was always next to the neogeo multi-arcade and fighter's history. I couldn't remember the name of the game so I could play it on mame. Thanks for posting the vid.
Maaaan I loved this game as a kid. Street Fighter 2 mania spawned countless rip-offs, but somehow the character designs and added features like weapons and vertical stages in this game were refreshing. If these characters crossed over into Street Fighter I feel like the transition would be seamless. It’ll never happen, so I guess I’ll depend on fanart haha
Or you could just do it in Mugen.
The character designer of this game has his own DeviantArt page
Man after street fighter 2 came out every arcade game in the 90s was a fighter lol. The good ol days lol.
That final boss explains a lot about the creation of Seth from Street Fighter IV
Wow, this is another good one I wish to have played there you have the best game collections. Thanks for the upload Loading Geek I can not wait to see more of your awesome games.
I kept forgetting the name of this one, and only remembered it because of Karai. So great to see this again!
I like how even the game designers were like... ryu & ken, "no need to fight these guys. We can just spectate".
Coincidentally, Konami used to employ the man that would go on to create the _Street Fighter_ franchise.
@@Loader2K1 that man...grew up to be...M. BISON!
And Grace Jones is there, too.
That character selection screen gave me TMNT Tournament Fighter vibes. And Ken and Ryu are in the background of the first stage. Damned if that wasn't intentional.
RACHEAL IS MY FAVORITE
Back when all the me-too SF clones thought all you needed were a shoto archetype and a grappler and you were golden.
The character models look like they're the same house style as the ones in Violent Storm - neat!
Magnificent video lg.
those legs
Wow this game awesome ,I am glad to know ur channel thanks a lot !
You're welcome 😊
I get a DEFINITE Cynthia Rothrock vibe from Rachel. Don't you? 😁
Excellent keep the good times great better stuff from the better era 👊👍 after having time wasted in the so-called schools back then it's always good to go to an arcade or a movie and enjoy keep it coming man Konami needs more ps 4 exposure and release a collection
0:37 Goldor's special moves... "Kumbaya!" and "Babeh (Baby)!" Lol!
Cool game.
I wish they could put it on the Nintendo switch E-shop.
DOSE THIGHS
Rachael- only 2 special moves
Final Boss- a thousand special moves
Three different projectiles
At least one move from nearly everyone.
rachael is so hot
Well, duh! 😍
I’m glad every company took a crack at making a fighting game back then. Budgets were low enough to where you could try in a genre you weren’t familiar in. Plus the company street fighter champ could usually direct the game.
2:25 I think the lady in the background with the leotard and short hair is supposed to be Grace Jones.
3:45 Well, I guess we are just all losers up in here then cause there is no way I ain't going to look.
I'd like to think that Racheal's win quote was poorly translated from Japanese, and was most likely to be interpreted as her saying "If you pay attention to my beauty instead of my techniques, you'll lose easily."
@@Loader2K1 no, it's 100% same in Japanese version.
@@eelfim: I'll take your word for it unless it's disproven by someone fluent in Japanese.
Eita época boa dos arcades 👍😁
There's an artist on Twitter that draws her all the time. I thought she was an original character.
The actual designer of Racheal, Yoshiki Akasaka, has pages on DeviantArt, Twitter, and Pixiv, and he draws her a LOT.
Oh. Well open shut case, folks. I do already followed them though, but I had no idea.
@@Loader2K1 Where?
@@GokuMcDuck: The RUclips algorithm must REALLY hate me. Anyway, look for Akasaka-san on the aforementioned websites listed above by me.
@@Loader2K1 It hates me too. Thanks.
Oh god I remember finding an arcade cabinet at a DP Dough in my hometown!! It felt really weird seeing it there lol I played Titi and then some girls I went to school with came in and I got embarassed. lol
Guess I finally know the reason why the Egyptian criminal & Chinese Jiang-Shi switched names due to Titi being "too suggestive". 😅
(Nefer)titi did get her name back when _Otomedius Excellent_ released on the 360; then again, that game is *all* suggestive.
I also have a Martial Champion board, but the pattern in which Mahamba appears in the fifth race, as in this video, is a particularly difficult pattern to capture. Rachel is a character who is good at aerial combat while having a weak check-off technique on the ground, but the anti-aircraft technique unleashed from Mahamba's super reaction is very incompatible with Rachel. You can jump from a close distance and invite the anti-aircraft technique to swing, but it is a particularly difficult opponent to capture.
Other points of capture in Rachel are
・ Gordo and the team can squeeze in a pattern that jumps in when crouching and waiting
・ Chaos often jumps and self-destructs when he uses the technique of fire at the fastest speed from a jump landing.
・ Avu and Zen are not very good at air-to-air skills, so it is safe if you just make a jump attack.
・ Bobby is an easy opponent because he can slide through the health rugger.
・ Like Mahamba, Hoi is full of gaps when he dodges anti-aircraft techniques, so he throws it in.
・ Since there is usually no throwing, the last boss salamander is easy to decide to throw even if it is in close contact, so while waiting while guarding against a violent attack such as a missile, throw it when it comes in close contact, and if you get up and jump overhead, you will be yourself Make full use of the pattern of jumping in from
Let's aim for no mistake clear like this.
Although not in this video, if you clear no mistakes, a staff roll will be played.
Back when Konami made awesome games. What are the chances of Konami ever bringing this game to Switch like Hamster did for a lot of the Neo Geo games?
I looked it up and the game DID have 2 home releases in Japan. It was released on the PC Engine first (Turbographyx 16 was the US counterpart to this system) and later on the Wii Virtual Console (2008) -- again, Japan-only.
Apparently, the game was cut down a bit to suit the PC Engine and it got reviewed harshly for that. Then again, if you look at the Street Fighter 2 ports to the Super NES, the graphics were altered a bit and they also cut animation to fit home cartridge ports. The 2-D arcade boards at the time were significantly more powerful than the home consoles until the PS1/Sega Saturn generation.
I thought this was a Neo Geo game myself but apparently it ran off a Konami board. I'm sure it should run close to perfect on MAME now.
There's no home part of this, is there?
I'm surprised they didn't try to port it to at the Super Famicom!
@3:24 -- LOOK! Sgt. Kabukiman's in the game, too! LOL
In the Japanese version, the names for Titi and Chaos are switched.
I get it, as Chaos was (Nefer)Titi.
Yep
I don't know who needs to hear this right now.....but GOL WaAaAaAaAaAve!
Oh I used to play this in the arcade at my pizzeria.. I was used to play with the fighter from Saudi Arabia.
1:18 Oh look ken and ryu cameo from street fighter series ever seen easter egg.
to the makers of this video do you guys know the height of the characters or the game doesn't say?
In PC Engine Port after you win the game have the bios of characters with measures.
1:15 what is going on with that attack graphic? Did they run out of budget or something?
This fighting game looks different because, health bar on the bottom. 😀
That's because it's the spiritual successor to Yie-Ar KungFu.
0:35 Two of those people in the background look like they're in the wrong game.
Big sprites... And that's it. 🤭
I actually played this!!! Not a bad game. There should have been a console version.
They had two ports. PC Engine first, probably a year after the arcade debut, and Wii Virtual Console Japanese-exclusive in 2008.
Funny date, the japanese name of chaos(egyptian girl) are tití(like egyptian princess nefhertiti) but in América tití sound like "tits or boobs" so the name of tití change for chaos(chinese mummy) AND chaos for tití.....
Racheal's tasty ^_^
Bem legal
13:01😍😏
It's like Samurai Showdown before Samurai Showdown.
11:09 Goku ☝️😁😝
Racheal = Aska from TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Which was to be SNES Martial Champions.
Goldor: Ooogah Boogah!!!
Rachael is a ninjutsu expert
Looks unfinished.
I remember this game.
I knew I had seen SF Menat before... ( Chaos)
*For some reason the Egyptian Princess & The Chinese Vampire switched names in the US???
Outside of the US she's Titi and he's Chaos
Because she's supposed to be Nefertiti, but the word police demanded she not be called that because all they could see was "Titty".
Titi would return much later in the Konami game _Otomedius_ as an Egyptian cheerleader (because...reasons) named Titi XIV.
@@jamierose9095 I didn't know that. Calling her Chaos reminds me of Princess Menace from The Queen's Blade
Why is every beautiful girl named Rachel? 😄
😄😜
If anything gets me going about this game, it's against Salamander Round 1's music.
I knew that there were a bunch of janky Street Fighter 2 ripoffs out there, I've played Violent Fight. But I had no idea of how many games like this there were.
... Salamander looks and fights like he should be somebody's Stand in JoJo
This looks creepy for a fighting game.
Racheal is the Best Female Fighter
Konami arcade games has the best graphics and actually their fighting games had better graphics and sound vs Data East and SNK. Color, sound and gameplay is solid.
The Adventures of Bayou Billy is a classic from Konami. Another arcade that was good compare to NES version.
👑🐸
Extra Thicc
Rachel? No, it's pronounced Rage-eel
Why does the announcer sound so much like Trey Parker?
Rachel = most beautiful female character of all tournament fighting games ever.
Never released on consoles !
It was released on the PC Engine CD-ROM in Japan.
@@Starrgroove Sorry for my mistake, Ninja. From Ninja Warriors. (Your avatar) 😁
@@zukoulou7464 No need to apologize. Martial Champion is an obscure arcade game and the PCE version is even more obscure. I got a chance to play the PCE version back in the mid-90s. The sprites in that version couldn't compete with their arcade counterparts.
That charge attack looks pretty useless. Even when you hit your opponent, they recover instantly and counter right away.
Ok
cool characters, poor background but the game is cool
I read it as "MARITAL Champion" and imagined a game about domestic violence... at least it'd be original.
Do Avu next! ✌✌✌
This Is a very rare and bizarre game, the characters are weird, the Button system, the horrible music, maybe Rachel are only a less bad chara
I was born addicted to crack. I was lucky enough to have a Sega Genesis back then as my bio parents were sociopaths who was always broke. If it wasn't ported to the Genesis I wasn't exposed to it. It was almost ps3 generation by the time I saw an actual NBA jam arcade cabinet.
This is my favorite comment.
I can't believe Konami put out something that looks this terrible.
wow this is shithouse. rachAEl's thighs are about the only thing this game has going for it.
This kind of looks like a game that a Japanese team would make as a parody of games made by Westerners with a stereotyped view of Japanese culture.
This game is ass🤣
