Monster Maulers, known in Japan as Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn (究極戦隊ダダンダーン, lit. "Ultimate Squad Dadandarn"), is a 1993 fighting arcade game developed and published by Konami.
The focus of the game is one-on-one fights versus giant enemies. Several of said enemies are references to or bosses in other Konami games, such as Gradius and its spin-off, Salamander. When playing two-player mode, both players can team up to do secret special moves.

Love it, it has soul. You can tell the people behind really loved the work they put behind this game.
I like these kind of unique fighting games that bring something unique to the table. MM's concept is very cool, plus the soundtrack is a banger.
Nowadays wouldn't even be considered re attempted cuz fighting games are only allowed to be mainly mp experiences.
Back when Konami still used to make fun games... how I miss those days.

@@PeteTheGrouch Ah, the classic "if you can't do it, you can't talk about it" fallacy. No, you absolutely can talk about and even criticise Hideo Kojima without being a comparable game designer.
And sure, he created the awesomeness that was Metal Gear and really did keep Konami afloat.
But on the other hand, he also created Death Stranding, a game that pretends to be a dramatic movie although the gameplay is nothing but tedious fetch quests, and had the gall to tell gamers who said it wasn't good that they _simply don't understand it._

Love how Konami made a fighting game using mostly Gradius enemies... And gave it the tone of a 70s Tatsunoko superhero anime!
Still an amazing game and that opening theme. Perfect!
If you play the Japanese version there's also an emphatic narrator to announce the title cards.
This game is super kooky, and I can't help but like it... The intro music just SCREAMS that "here comes the hero that's going to save the day again -like they do every week " kind of vibe -in a good way.
The bosses are spiffy as hell. Sure, they aren't the most original creations in the world, but they absolutely aren't supposed to be -they're supposed to be dead ringers of after-school Sentai baddies... And they NAIL IT. Heck, that undersea fungus critter is just great all around, and the fact that he ungulates to the tempo of that turbo-funky boss music he has just tickles me.
Konami, you're literally hemmoraging money like a boat made out of screen doors because you're trying to render each pore of each character individually... When NOBODY GIVES A CRAP. Put a small team of talented lunatics who worked on other successful games together, and let them make whatever they want... Or if you want some ideas, hit up some itch.io game developer who makes fun games that people actually enjoy playing... Basically ANYONE who doesn't start their pitch with "it's like Dark Souls…" or something equally comparable.

No matter if it's Animaniacs, Batman or Contra, Konami used that soundfont for EVERYTHING and I love it.
Man, i just clicked out of curiosity on this video, but it looks pretty awesome for it's age. And the opening gives it some good old anime vibes. I guess it's gameplay is hard/tricky, but it seems to be fun anyway.
The final boss stage has the best final boss stage music of all time!!

Discount Dorombo. Seriously, nearly everything about this game (especially the terrible trio of villains) exudes "Time Bokan" qualities. This was definitely an homage to the franchise.

There are some obscure criteria to get a good ending. Some times I played I got it, others not.

But, the truth is, this game and many others was'nt just "not bad" or "funny", they was and they still freaking awesome! After almost 30 years, we players, watching this and see it's true awesomeness 🤤 Alas, they don't make such games, anymore 🥺

Ape boss from Strider. Overall otherworldly vibe from Forgotten Worlds. Brain boss equals Eyeball monster from Altered Beasts. Blue demon moveset pre-dates Akuma. Ape Boss moveset pre-dates Sentinel in X-Men vs Capcom. Algae monster similar to Twelve SF3. Robots similar to Mega Man aesthetics. Dragon reminds me of Dragon in Space Harrier.

This reminds me of Power Rangers which is an American adaptation of Super Sentai. What a excellent game reference, even a title that refers the squad.

EDIT: Okay after careful comparison I kind of lied it's less in terms of the Boss part but in More in term of its uniqueness in the modern era😌
