I can't wait for turkey season and your videos have given me tons more information than I had ever learned before! (self taught hunter here, didn't start until I was 21). 100k congrats. Another thought on storing mouth calls in the off season and during I rinse mine in some cold tap water then let them dry and I put them in a cleaned out 8oz sour cream container.

For even more raspyness on a slate call position your striker so that it's running across the grain of the tip. I mark my strikers with a sharpie so I don't have to look for the right grain every time I use it. This helps you improve consistency and gain confidence using a slate or any other type of pot call.
