For a natural look used a Demi color with volume 10% developer . Will need to leave on 45 minutes. Blends softly without a harsh line and no brassiness as it fades.

Hi, thank you for your video. In the past I’ve watched your videos on how to blonde my hair. After a few tries, my blonde was achieved. In a notebook, I wrote down formulas used and processing times. Unfortunately during pandemic lockdown, I lost interest in keeping up as most products were hard to find or order online. Moving forward, I want to thank you for all your advise on hair care and color. You’re the best, All the best! 💕

Now I'm definitely equipped with more knowledge about coloring my hair no matter if I will be able to afford box dye only or go to my hairdresser and get them highlited, I'm definitely more aware what to avoid. thanks for educating us!❤❤

I love these videos where you explain color! Later this month I’m getting highlights, but I’ve been having trouble explaining what I want to my stylist. I think I’m a level 3 and I want subtle, like only 2-3 levels lighter: low maintenance and can grow out nicely. I just don’t know what to expect with the tone I lift? I am perfectly fine with some warmth though. It’s just hard to articulate what I would like, I’ve never had any color besides a gloss over my natural color.
But still these videos are super helpful so thank you for putting this content out there!!

This video is very focused on wanting a cool/ashy hair color result which isn't what I'm going for at all, but I'll share anyway. I've naturally very ashy light brown hair (level 5-6) and bleached the ends/mids to a golden tone in an ombre style. I loved the golden but it looked kinda funky with such a cool base. Or rather the cool base looked funky in contrast to the warm blonde. To fix that, I thought of toning down the golden to an ashy blonde, but I've warm skin undertones and don't pull off ashy/icy hair colors particularly well. They tend to make me look a bit washed out. So, I wanted to change my cool base color instead of my warm blonde.
For a warm base, I feel like there are more options. I dunno if you agree, but I think you can go with either a warm brown or red. So I contemplated between those two options. I've had chocolate brown with golden ends before which looked amazing, but I've rarely ever had red hair in my life, so I decided to go for a red base this time, just to change things up. The tricky part though was finding what kinda red would 1) match the tone of my blonde bits, 2) be dark enough to cover my natural color but light enough to not just be buried in excess pigment, and 3) how to prevent it from staining the blonde.
Somehow I succeeded on all 3 points. I found a copper red that works really well with the golden blonde, and blended with an orange color inbetween to avoid a harsh transition. The copper tone color I found was a permanent color to use on dry hair, so I needed to do that one first. The orange color I found was a toner to use on damp hair, so I added that as a second step. I didn't wanna risk a bad chemical reaction by doing both at the same time because they were two different types of color.
Also I went with a permanent dye for the copper because my natural color is quite dark and extremely ashy. Like it almost looks gray. And I wanted to make sure the red really stuck to it. Douzing the blonde parts in a ton of conditioner helped keeping it from getting stained. As a result my hair now goes from copper red, to ginger orange, to soft gold, and I'm really happy with the result.
Fyi, I'm not a hair expert in any way, and this fiery ombre is definitely the most advanced I've done so far. But that's my experience with "choosing a base color" for a warm, partially blonde, hair color. And yes, the blonde I worked with was that kinda typically hated, brassy transition from brown to orange to yellow that often (always?) happens when bleaching brown hair. I didn't use any (violet/blue or yellow based) toner on it at all.

I'm a 1-2 naturally (dark brown). But I'm now a 8-9 medium blonde with extensions. Now my problem is my really hair turns so brassy very fast and there's some spots that go organe brassy tint. It's a very light sheen tint but I notice it.
My extensions stay the same which is great. Now I recently went ash blonde and got a toner put in and I really love it but desired level is level 10 but ashier/neutral. I want balayage or highlights but my stylist says my hair is too thin and she's scared to go that light.
Is there a way to compromise? I don't mind getting only my extensions going that light and avoid my real hair. I can agree to baby lights? What do you suggest I ask for? I don't mind I just want my hair some blend with that level 10 ashy blond color.

@@EllebangsYes please!!!! And if you could ever mention best Sally dupes for the products and shades that would be the most helpful for all us unlicensed dyi-ers at home. Like how makeup channels show and compare a highend makeup product & shade lipstick and then a dupe that looks and feels/works similar/same. There’s nothing really like that I trust online and would be unique highly valued new content for your channel and current viewers and no doubt add new viewers!
I’ve read mixed things on Sally’s generic Shades EQ and thought that could be a fun experiment if you a mannequin and did a range of different swatch sections shades EQ and same equivalents generic Sally’s on other side of head.
Also thought it’d be awesome to see different levels colored & toned in terms of showing swatches on mannequin with varying level natural base colors and what happens when same products/shades are used to help us or newbies understand how to properly pick colors/levels and what it looks like on wrong levels.
Almost all RUclipsrs use a level 7 mannequin virgin hair base to test, when in reality most people who are DIY and scared are 2-3, 4-6 which everyone makes fun of the fails but never truly show start to finish what to pick and what to avoid.
Just a thought for content options if you ever run out of material (impossible ever since Tick Tok lol)
Thank you for sharing your gift with such empathetic, patient and understandable teaching methods. So rare in the beauty world for DIY hair.
