  • Testing some mineral sunscreens aka physical sunscreens to see how well they blend into deeper skin tones. Some people are allergic to chemical sunscreens, so physical ones are a good option---except some of them look ashy on darker skin. Newer ones promise to be more cosmetic and blend in be sunscreen for dark skin and sunscreen for oily skin, but do these? FIND OUT!

    👉🏿👉🏿👉🏿👉🏿READ ME!!! Guys, this video focuses on MINERAL sunscreens as I mentioned in the video. I threw in Supergoop Glowscreen because it’s a new one even though it’s not a mineral sunscreen. Supergoop Unseen is a CHEMICAL sunscreen and I’ve already tried it like I mentioned in the video that I’ve tried DOZENS of other sunscreens already and linked to in the description box. Here’s the link again: tsabd.com/non_ashy_sunscreens. Have a great day 😉

    I have brown skin, yellow undertone (I'm mixed Native and white) and I feel like every mineral sunscreen disappoints me. The best by far I've used is Biossance's but it still leaves the smallest white cast on me. My solution to SPF, because I refuse to use US chemical SPFs, is to use the BareMinerals complexion rescue SPF ON TOP of my SPF, I get a shade darker to balance off the white cast. It's two SPFs applications in the morning but two SPFs is all I do in the morning. Thank you so much for demo'ing these for us! =D

    Great video! I'm a huge fan of physical sunscreens and have spent at least the last 3 years looking for the best one. I've found that Korean physical sunscreens are the most cosmetically elegant compared to even the higher end physical sunscreens you can find at Sephora or a department store. My current fave is the Purito Comfy Water Sun Block SPF 50 PA++++. The formulation is majority water based so its extremely comfortable to wear and it doesn't have any tints or leave access shine or a white/purple/gray cast. It's also really affordable (under $20).

I found physicals to be less irritating, however, I still dabble into chemicals here & there. I still have not been able to find “the one”. Right now I’m trying UrbanSkinRx...ehhh. It’s very thin, goes in easy w/ no “hue” lol, but leaves me looking like a hot ball of grease by hour 3 of wearing it. I think I’m gonna give the Olay Shine Control you mentioned a try next. Arrrggh, lol. I have not been wearing sunscreen 😬 and I'm in SoCalifornia. Well, I actually haven't had a consistent face care routine (besides glycerin bar soap, castor oil soap, or black soap for wash and an oil of choice for moisturizer) or makeup routine for that matter. Looking into all three now. Recently ordered Fenty (used 100%pure and RMS in the past). Sent for samples from Nola skincare to try out a black owned brand. 100%pure does have pretty good skincare/body care but I haven't bought from them in years due to their lack of inclusivity on their makeup side. I'm actually not sure what skin type I am. In my mind I've been fine doing nothing but recently started using oils as a first cleanser and I've started to breakout. Perhaps its due to a change. Anyway, I heard you in a prior video say sunscreen is necessary so here I am. The search for a budget friendly, ingredient conscious sunscreen search is on. Have you tried any sunscreens from Sprouts or similar stores?

      Heyy! I use sunscreens from Neutrogena (beach defense and ultra sheer) Australian Gold, and even the generic brands at Walgreens and CVS for body. I don’t really have a preference though I do lean more towards the Neutrogena Beach Defense, but it depends what’s on sale...lol.
      The biossance mineral sunscreen contains some hydrating ingredients in it so it depends on what your skin is doing. If you feel dry, then moisturize first. If not, you’re good to go. But your sunscreen will always go after your moisturizer (unless you’re using a moisturizer with spf).

      Hi we need to remember that depending on our skintone the result will be different. There are sunscreens that look almost invisible on my mom's skin but super purple on me who has a darker complexion. And the key word is ALMOST as almost becomes very visible on a darker complexion. An other youtuber nappyheadjojoba tried a Clinique mineral sunscreen and said it was almosr transparent on her and the brand claims it is invisible. I was able to test it in stores and it was not transparent on my skin. If you want one that is 100% transparent on the darkest skin, check Cotz spf50 flawless complexion (better for normal/dry skin) or Dr Dennis Gross spf 5O spray which you need to apply like a regular cream ( better for combination,/ oily skin). So if it's not visible on you don't force it especially as we are supposed to add several layers throughout the day to get the right protection...

I gave up on wearing sunscreen because I thought that they were all the same. But here recently I purchased a moisturizer with sunscreen. I am hoping that this works for me.
    I tend to sweat a lot during the warmer months so applying a moisturizer and a sunscreen is a bit too much for me so hopefully this will work.

    I love the supergoop sunscreen. Ive never tried the tinted one. The one i have is clear and consistency is thin enough to wear under makeup. It’s is water proof but not sweat proof...but I still love it.

    Ok but what are your thoughts on the chemical homosalate? It’s used in damn near everything which is why I can’t fuck with super goop let alone any of the other spfs. It’s a hormone disruptor and I try to stay away but I feel like no one is aware of the harm of that chemical in all these sunscreens 😫😫😫

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  4 года назад +1

      If homosalate is a concern for you, check out physical sunscreens. I couldn’t find anything recent that links it to hormone disruption in humans-can you send me what you saw?

    I literally had the Coola one in my cart for the Sephora VIB sale... I removed it. 🙄. It’s been a struggle forever to find sunscreen that doesn’t leave a cast on my face! Especially When I have very oily skin and live in Miami! For reference, I’m in Mac NC47.
    What about Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face Mist in SPF 55?!?!! I think I’ll try Neutrogena instead 😅

Any other Neutrogena sunscreens I’ve already tried will be in that link, too.

    NOOO!!! While I Do Appreciate The Videos That You Present Here On RUclips .. I Would Not Choose Biossance .. I Purchased 2 Of The Same Biossance Suncreens That You Used & It ABSOLUTELY Leaves A White Cast On Your Face & This Sunscreen Is Not Cheap .. As For Me It Is Not Dark Skinned Friendly!! IJS!!

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  3 года назад

      Just because something didn’t work for you, doesn’t mean it won’t for others. We all have different budgets and other characteristics we look for in skincare. If you look at the other videos in this series, I give a wide range of mineral sunscreen options at varying price points, with different formulas and textues, and for different skin types. Not everything is going to work for everybody. If I only tried certain types of mineral sunscreens, there would be less options for the wide range of people who tune into these videos.
      I liked the Biossance mineral sunscreen and so did a lot of people who commented here and in other videos. There are also people who didn’t like it. Doesn’t mean it can’t be mentioned as an option.

      @@styleandbeautydoctor thanks for the reply! So I’ve been on a huge sunscreen researching journey and recently discovered the importance of higher concentrations of Zinc oxide and specifically non nano zinc oxide to provide sufficient UVA protection. Would be great if you could apply that lens as you continue to review new and old products.

    As a rich chocolate beauty, I use SuperGoop UNSEEN SUNSCREEN SPF40 which you did not review. It is perfect!, no cast at all. Since last summer, I am on my 3rd tube. Before that I used one from Shiseido which I can only find in Tokyo. I only use Neutrogena on my body!

      I wish! Because of the ingredients used to make a mineral sunscreen (they’re super white), you can’t have a clear mineral sunscreen. They can make mineral sunscreens less ashy-looking, but can’t make them clear.
