    Sunscreen marketing should just stop the words "universal tint" and "sheer", because they never are; just like one size fits all clothing, it never works that way.
    Also, I have light skin tone. The PTR Max Mineral Naked seems fine when I first put on, but as the day progresses, the tint turns darker and darker. I don't know if that's by design or it oxidizes on my skin; although oxidized products tend to look orange, but this one is just darker.

    I am definitely not confident in the white cast in most situations but I live in Utah where even black people get sunburned. I also have sensitive skin so chemical sunscreens never work for me. I was sick of getting sunburned when I went to the garden and based on a recommendation of a friend, I decided to try an all mineral 50+ sunscreen from EltaMD. It makes my relatively light medium tone skin look downright purple but when I'm in the garden with dirt on my face and a giant hat, I just don't care. I'm happy to not be burned or breaking out in a rash.

    I just went sunscreen shopping yesterday and was overwhelmed and came home with nothing. I just just need something for head to toe, easy to apply and cheap. I don’t have time extra or funds for expensive sunscreen. 15$ dollars for 4 fl oz is not the business for me. I work outside so I need a lot of sunscreen and the cost per use is a lot. I prefer mineral sunscreens. If for some reason i have a white cast, I opt to use a finishing powder to lightly dust all over. They're typically sheerer than a powder foundation and some setting powders.
    Other times I will apply a bronze-y/copper-y liquid highlighter that I can sheer out after layering my sunscreen.

    Hi Danielle! I have Coverfx pressed mineral foundation to use. The Kiehls & Tarte, yikes! 😬 I wish this posted during the Sephora sale. I added the Supergoop & Peter Roth powders then took it out of my cart so many times. 🤦🏾‍♀️. I didn't buy either but definitely will. Good to see an online comparison of the Peter Roth, Supergoop & Colorscience powders on dark skin tones. Colorscience is $69 for 0.21oz(!) and both Peter Roth & Supergoop are $30, 0.12oz & 0.15oz, respectively. Peter Roth has no refill and Supergoop does for $20. Comments on the Supergoop packaging is bad. People bought the refill (sold exclusively on Supergoop's website unless you can find it on Poshmark or Ebay) & put it in another container and used as a loose powder. Hopefully, Supergoop will change the packaging eventually. Which powder did you like more?
    Yes, Bareminerals does have a colored powder w/SPF 15 for $32 for 0.2oz too.
    I got Ilia skintint w/SPF 40 in the new shade 16.5 & it is beautiful on my skin tone. I had bought Saie skin tint w/SPF 35 but returned it because it has a pinkish tint (nothing too crazy but why bother when Ilia matched & has a higher SPF?) which looks better than a blue/purpleish cast & more lightweight. Thanks for sharing!

    I’ve heard it’s a nice little tip but I’ve yet to try it. Would you try it? Would love a video on this experiment ;)
    So far, I have been enjoying yours and Dr Alexis’s recommendations:
    Biossance squalane & zinc spf 30
    Peter Thomas instant mineral powder
    And Supergoop Mineral sheerscreen spf 30.
    Slight white casts but it actually doesn’t bother me much, I’ve tried so many mineral sunscreens and these are close to perfect for me. Love them all! Thank you again for helping us all xx 💐💋

    after i watched your video on the dermablend, which really annoyed me bc i bought two bottles before coming back to japan, i just use it on top now. i'm not sure there's any point to it tho bc why not just wear the foundation on top. i'd got the skinceuticals sunscreen just before and i'd found the white cast made me look pretty ashy.
    i'm not having much luck with sunscreens in general tbh. i can only mineral sunscreen bc i react so badly to the chemical ones but even then it's reacting/pilling/ashiness lol. and i'm not even sure i need to be wearing any and i mostly just do it when i have to step out, which is more or less never at this point. i'm indoors all day bc of covid. most of the light i get is from the computer and my lamps. i also live at night when not working, when i'm not working at night. if anything i'm more concerned that i might be lacking vitamin d.
    but the damage on my skin from all the years i went out and about without any, including applying a thin layer in the morning when on a cycling tour in countries like malaysia and sri lanka (omfg) and idk how to fade those.
    been doing what my derm said (but can't see bc she's in thailand, and the one here lacks a lot in terms of treatments and knowledge on skin that isn't of the palest category + i can't see her now bc of covid).
    been also following all the advice i've found from derms on social media (incl dr alexis), ie, vitamin c, tranexamic acid, niacinamide, alpha arbutin, waiting for my cyspera to be delivered if shipito hasn't screwed me.
    in the midst of all this the one thing i can't make sense of is sunscreen bc all the info is about wearing it when you live during the day and you go out. plus all this conflicting info about blue light and the need to wear sunscreen or not and i'm really lost tbh.

Currently using Drmtlgy Tinted SPF 46. It’s not that bad but I still notice a slight cast. I want to try the Olay Sunscreen you recommended. I only wish it was greater than SPF 30. Is there a huge difference between SPF 30 and SPF 46?

    • @nancykerrigan
      @nancykerrigan 3 года назад

      Why do you wish the spf was higher? Just curious because I was always told that spf 30 is the "mandatory minimum"(😶) that we need in a sunscreen.

    • @joyogunneye
      @joyogunneye 3 года назад

      nancykerrigan yes I’ve been told SPF 30 or higher is recommended. SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays. I just want to block as much UVB rays as possible. I know no sunscreen covers 100% UVB rays, but the closer the better for me 😍

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  3 года назад +3

      Hey hey!!! There isn’t a huge difference in terms of the percentage of UV it blocks, but a 46 theoretically is better than a 30. Reason being is people notoriously apply too little sunscreen so if you don’t apply enough of a 30, you get maybe a 15. But if you don’t apply enough of a 50+, maybe you’ll get a 30. Many derms will tell you to use an SPF of at least 50 for that reason.
      When it comes to formulating sunscreens, like I mentioned Dr Frauke said in the video, there is no “perfect” sunscreen. Formulators have to strike a balance. A high UV sunscreen may sacrifice some other aspects you might want in a sunscreen. I’m talking generally here because I’m obviously not a formulator...lol.
      But if you actually are applying an adequate amount of sunscreen, a 30 is okay. Just make sure you reapply every two hours if you’re going to be out and about or if you sweat often and follow other safe sun practices like protective clothing and avoiding “high” sun.

    09:10 Why did you put three layers in one area? I think you are put too much of the sunscreen on your lower face and that's why it can look 'blueish' as you said. Yes, it is important to put a generous amount in first application during the day, but I think you should take this third layer and maybe put it on your forehead or neck.

      I am not applying too much sunscreen-it’s the standard 2 mg/ cm2. I apply mineral sunscreen in thin layers until I get adequate coverage. That sunscreen is going to be blueish with the adequate amount of sunscreen on.

    How many times is the sunscreen applied, it looks like 3 applications?

      it's all one application...lol. as I mentioned in the video, with mineral sunscreens if you go in and put a big glop all at once, you will be mad trying to get it to blend in because of the white cast. Instead applying it in thin layers until you have the adequate amount (2 mg of sunscreen/cm 2 of skin) is a much easier way to apply to mitigate the white cast.

      @@styleandbeautydoctor I have a tinted mineral sunscreen that I apply. I'm so impatient, I rub it together between my hands and sometimes wave my hands around to dry it a bit before applying. And you are correct, it needs to set for abit before adding the foundation powder.

      That really depends on your lifestyle. If you pretty much do and go to the same places all the time, one could work.
      But as someone who wears makeup, I like a sunscreen for my face that works well with makeup and then I’m not picky about which sunscreen I use on my body so I typically just get 2 for $5 Walgreens in-store brand sunscreen. Then my winter sunscreen will likely be different than my summer sunscreen because it’s super cold and dry here in the winter but hot and humid here in the summer.

      @@elemietiks9751 you may need to just watch review videos for entertainment value then if all the choices confuse you. Nobody is saying you need every product we try-if you have products that work well for you then you’re good. But most people want to hear product reviews so they can at least see what other people thought of it and then make their own decisions based on their skin and the information they gathered.
      Even with all the reviews I do, I still have lots of people asking me to review more product. New products come out all the time as well as new innovations. You just have to use common sense and realize that a good chunk of what beauty bloggers talk about may not apply to you.

    Please aaaaaaaah beg I love your sense of humour 🤣🤣🤣🤣💀 I only started using mineral sunscreens this year, Feb 2023 and I have been emotionally destroyed 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 like you say , "The white cast be casting" 😅😅😅😅 I'm colour 400-420 on Fenty beauty so I'm a little on the dark side of life and also living in Germany soooo awkward coz they really don't cater for my skin tone and these mineral sunscreens ain't loyal 😩😩😩 but thank you for the tricks of the trade 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 because I suck at make up 🥹🥹🥹 best I can do is that Tint from Fenty beauty or a BB cream 😅😅😅
