So, I studied under some cancer researchers and it isn't *quite* accurate. The bulk of the research into "curing cancer" isn't done by pharmaceutical companies, it's done at academic institutions and private labs. We have some treatments now for certain cancers that have a better efficacy rate than most prescriptions. There are a few cancers simply not considered terminal anymore, so long as you get treatment. His general sentiment is pretty spot on, obviously--I'm not trying to argue against anything. But in reality if a cure was developed for cancer (which is misleading, because different cancers would have different treatments; "cancer" is more of a classification of conditions that have similar behaviors than a singular thing) it would get sold to big pharma for billions, then they would hold the patent on it likely for 17yrs during which time they would charge absolutely ridiculous rates at U.S. hospitals while dumping it on the European market for pennies on the dollar. Fun fact: for a long time, many chemo drugs were failed antibiotics. They were drugs designed to be antibiotics but the side effects were too severe. )We have a greater threshold for them with chemo drugs.)
More and more cancers are treatable and survival rates are going up. Also, there cannot be a cure for "cancer". There are many types of cancers, and they all require different treatment. I'm glad you see it my way. I was just thinking about how empty and souless I was inside without the approval from you I crave, and now that I have it I'm truly complete. Thank you for being willing to communicate
please, and i mean PLEASE PUT THESE ON SPOTIFY!!! i would have your music on all of my playlists!
I have ran festivals all over the east Coast for the last 25 years and I have to say this guy is up there with my all time favorite folk artists after running through his list today. Sir your turn around time on fun little folk ditties is unparalleled. This is seriously one of the more impressive discography of folk songs I've seen that unless my eyes deceive me is only four months old. That's unfuckingbelievable man. I cant stress how much I'm impressed.
This was perfect Jessie. My 52 year old brother has pancreatic cancer and he will love this song.
Dude, you are really good at writing. Can't wait to hear more.
I keep replaying this song, you are so incredibly talented. Your lyrics are just something else. And it’s just such a nice touch to see you performing in the nature around you
Truths upon truths, took my grandad too young; I miss him daily.
Cancer just got me addicted to your highs and lows. Im blown away by the windy chimes you blow.
my father shared me this a few days before he passed away. I'd like to think it was helping him cope with the inevitable. Thank you.
Followed you from tik tok. Love your tunes always a hit brother can’t wait to hear your Columbia university song
This dude is gonna blow up in like a year or two. And just from the two songs/videos he's posted he deserves it.
This is what John Fogerty looks like in my head
he blowin’ up by next WEEK
I just subbed to him at 7k and he’s already at 20k a few days later, he’s blowing up now!

This is what John Fogerty looked like, when I first saw him, before the 1st Creedence album dropped in 1968. Seriously, my bff(she still is) and I started going to concerts on my 13th birthday. My dad knew most of the musicians, my uncle was a piano tuner in the Bay Area, he and my dad would smoke pot together and go hang out with the koolaid acid musicians, my dad didn’t drink the koolaid, but he liked those musicians and he didn’t have a problem with us going to see live music and we went all the time. Music has always been important in my life.
Your music is mind blowing
Thank you for posting these.
You are a gift.
Absolutely love your work
The talent that leaks out of every pour of this man....he could even perform. He has great charisma, style, voice...
The guitar sounds so amazing. The lyrics. Perfect. SO GOOD.

Thank you for posting the full version here.
Thank you Jesse, i have chronic back pain and your voice always soothe my mind and somedays help me deal with my pain.
I'm living the nightmare, right now! Breast cancer - invasive lobular Carcinoma to be exact. Thank you for the song! You are a blessing!
Bob Dylan meets Jim Morrison, love it
Dude - I could see you touring with Billy Strings. Would be an awesome bill!
John Prine reincarnated ! Bravo sir, you have restored my hope for the younger generation.
This is a true artist. The voice is so raw; the lyrics are so on point yet poetic
Your songs are so amazing!!
People somehow already know you from other platforms. I don't. I appreciate you posting. These songs bump man. Can't get enough.
You think he's dying? He wrote a song about death, and then cancer!
@@_arman_ I think he just likes touching on topics that really matter.
"..Monsanto Claus delivered all the cancer in your ass ...but it's from the purple ketchup.."
Amazing
Lost my dad in 2022 to bone cancer.
Thank you for your music man.
Did I hear a line from the wiggles? Head, shoulders, knees, and toes. This is great ❤ Jesse can take anything and make it beautiful.
What a guy. Keep on keepin on, brother.
I’m getting the heaviest Bob Dylan vibes and I love it
If Jim Morrison wasn't a CIA plant
My two year old sister battled cancer, her favourite person in the world, her grandfather, is battling it now. Thank you for the prevalent and real words
Hearing this song made me really think about my mom, she passed away the day before my birthday a year and a half ago. She was a lifelong Bob Dylan fan, hence my name lol, and you sir are carrying his torch brightly. Thank you for this song.
1:39 (knees and toes)
PUT YOUR STUFF ON SPOTIFY GODDAMN

I think you’re cool
This guy has a real gift. So refreshing to find a folk singer with a real story to tell.
I normally hate this kind of music... with a passion. but I came in with an open mind, and you sold me. you are incredible.
Poetic genius. Not just his folk stuff but most all of it
This is an amazing track, the guitar, vocals and lyrics are superb.
But you can't fake the pain.
Thanks Jesse beautiful song
I'm grateful every day that my mom beat cancer. I miss my grandfather. Its hard to know whether to blame death or blame life for the pain we feel. Love you, Jesse Welles.
Every generation needs one of you.
Amen
Jesse! I like the way you sing your mind! Making me have a good time while chiseling my already well-founded beliefs into passionate one's.
Today is my late father’s birthday.
He would have been 91 today.
(He passed in November)
A friend sent me this song,
And mentioned it was “John prine” worthy.
I completely agree
And while happy I’ve gotten to hear you,
I’m saddened dad, that I can’t share this with you,
(John was his favorite)
But maybe you are already listening!
Damn kid , you are great.
Don’t stop doing it….
With somebody please sign this guy up to a big record label he deserves it. All the best to you Jesse
