    So glad I'm not the only one who saves corner-flip triangles! I've occasionally made pinwheel blocks from them but agree with you that the small size makes them hard to work with. Thanks Janet. I plan to write up a pattern for the quilt behind me - it is very much a "Bits & Pieces" quilt, made up of the left overs and off cuts of about 3 different projects. If you look closely, you might see where I ran out of hourglass blocks and substituted some pinwheels instead. I don't remember if I was too lazy to make hourglass blocks or didn't have enough fabric! :o)

    Why don’t you sew an extra seam at the time you are making the block?

    • @bitspiecesquilting
      @bitspiecesquilting  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Julie - in most cases, the sew and flip pieces start at 2.5 inches, so sewing the extra seam would produce a really tiny HST. They would likely finish at 1.5 or 1.75 at most and that is just too small for me. So I like combining the off cuts from two pieces (so 4 triangles) to get something a little bigger. The final hourglass block is 2 inches, which I enjoy working with. When I use the sew and flip method on something that is 3.5 inches or bigger, I definitely sew the extra seam. Thanks for watching!
