I've just done it on about the 10th attempt .... Brilliant (it wasn't your fault, I'll let you guess who's fault it was)
I have a 7% discrepancy between a fully charged battery at 54.6 volts and what the display shows (93%). I would never attempt this FW update so I just add 7% to whatever my display says....I also have a voltmeter directly across the battery. There are too many horror stories associated with Bafang FW updates...be careful and be ready to brick it if you attempt this.
I have a Bafang BBS-HD 48V 1000W motor. It was working properly, but then it started giving an error code 30h and didn't move. I found out that in this video, a person fixed this problem by installing new firmware, which I also did. However, I suspect that I may have done something wrong or made a mistake because both my motor and battery are 48V.
Then things got strange. I powered on the battery and started the motor, but the screen went black, and I heard an electrical sound from the controller, motor, or battery. It sounded like something had broken or burned. So, I'm thinking I may have burned my controller.
My question is, is the firmware installed in the controller? If I get a new controller, will that fix the issue? Because I can't even install new firmware anymore as nothing appears on my screen. So, is the firmware stored in the controller and not in the motor?
It also gave error code 07 after i change firware, then i restarted and it havent started since then...

My heart dropped today when I got the 30 H error before I even started riding. I've had my bike for 2 years with no issue until now. All the troubleshooting with connectors did not work. Luckily, I purchased a programming cable when I bought my bike but have never used it until today. 🙏 Thank you so much for this video!
The MCU in your video is an IAP15W4K61S4, however the default MCU in the downloaded software (V6.87) is an IAP15F2K61S2. I found the one you had loaded in your video in the STC15W32S4 Series folder under MCU Type. Is this the proper one to use with the BBSHD? It's vital to select the proper MCU before programming.
As other commenters below said, they could not select the 3.86V. The reason is because the wrong MCU was selected. I had the same problem now I can select 3.86V
How do I know what MCU to select? I have a BBSHD (G320.1000 09)

Everything works until the download file to controller it starts procedure and says 67% failed to complete

I get stuck at the "checking target MCU" step. Could this mean my controller is dead?
Cant get past "Check MCU" it hangs at "Checking target MCU". Motor is getting power and distributing power.
Error 30 here (coincidence?) within minutes of chain jumping sprocket, (fixed the chain and power back ON throw error 30).
wire harness looks ok, i route cable well: slack, drip loops, no pinch points, zip ties loose, velcro, protected from things hitting wires.
are the settings the same for the 48v file?

Hi, I am having a problem resolving an error 30 fault. I execute the process as described, but when I get to the LVD detect level, 3.86 is not available. the closest one is 3.82. using this parameter, does not work. when I check MCU, it freezes up. Anyone else have this problem?

My BBHSD only show LVD detect level : it goes from 3.82 to 4.05 with no increment ibn between...
question if you may. I have a customer that brought in A E bike with the mid drive. Code error 30 present. Hook The charger up oddly enough. It cleared the code for about 4 hours. Code came back and will not go away checked all connectors. All pins, all female connectors appear to be free of corrosion and nothing wrong. And update didn't help However, the battery on the LCD display shows 0. The walk mode will show up, but it will not turn the motor on. Pedal assist does not work. The headlight indicator will come on, but no headlights or tail lights. I could not find any pinched wires either. I would suspect that this is a partly defective controller. And I know it's more difficult for you to answer that. On your end than would it be for me? Having it in your hands? However, in the detail that I have provided. Wold you say that I am correct in that assumption?? I know that it is a possible hit-and-miss. Could it be the lcd display? I don't know, but I am leaning towards the controller myself. What are your thoughts, please?
I got two batteries 1 is 48v at 54v fully charged and 52v at 58v fully charged. 52v refusing to work with 07 error if i flash this firmware will i be able to use my both batteries?
Has anyone tried this lately? This update stopped my bbs02 from working. Luckily for me, there are better alternatives to resolve this issue. Do not follow this

Bafang are making their motors non programable and some you only get 5 reprograms before they lock you out. These prigramming cables are not bafang.
Balfane wants to start locking up the programming making it more. You can only use the battery f***** u* everything. Would not suggest this drive. In fact I would discourage them from ever getting this drive with all the stuff they've been doing lately. I'm big on the right to repair. So anybody who screws without is going to get? Band. Wish I would have known I would have returned the unit. Maybe I can I'll have the contact eBay?

i have a controller problem, i know it because i've tried another one and the motor works perfectly fine...so the issue with it's original controller is that the throttle doesn't work and the motor starts by its own without me touching anything. Will this flash fix the controller or is water damaged? ( previous owner said it was working fine when he was using it )

Should LVD detect level be only 3.86V while this flashing? Just in one other video with similar update it is made as 2.78V, I wonder what's the difference does it make.

I just did it successfully, I'm very happy! Am right that it's impossible to see in a software what firmware version you had before flashing? Sometimes controller has a sticker with a firmware name but my new doesn't have it.
Perfect! It took a bit of troubleshooting, turns out what i thought was the power switch for my battery only turns on the in built in light, not the battery itself. But now it's happily cruising along with a 52V battery.

(My error happened when I tried to reprogram the controller to change some of the assist level. Somehow, I can connect and read what I have, but when I write, the error 30 comes back... not sure why... I'm using the Penoff config tools that seems to work for most of users.)

Be careful this guy might be purposely trying to lock your drive up. They don't want you to have access to the programming on your motor. I did what he said and now my drive says BBS3. I have ABBS2.
You have the wrong firmware … the firmware is for the bbshd. Not a bbs02

Whenever I get to the Check MCU part it just freezes up.
There is no option for a 3.86V LVD level. The closest option is 3.82V. Should we be using that?

i saw this video and followed the steps, everything flashed perfectly and now my bbshd appears to properly show battery meter for 52v. the only thing i noticed is that it changed the 30amp original current limit down to 28 amps. can the firmware be readjusted back to 30amp current?

Thanks for the video. I was able to reflash my BBSHD to work properly with a 48 volt battery. Which is great but now I am unable to use the programing tool to adjust the settings. It brings up error code 30 and to clear I have to reflash the firmware again. Is there any other firmware that will still allow the user to use the Bafang programing tool? I am using the one provided by penoff. Any help would be appreciated? Thanks

Thanks - need some more help - I didn't have error 30. Flashed my BBSHD controller and now can use 52 V batteries. Tried to re-flash Luna setup and got current out of range error (Luna current set to 30 the 48-52 Flash sets it to 28) had to re-flash using the 'Golden' again cause error 30 was set. Want the throttle not related to PAS settings.
OK - after flashing with the 48 to 52 flash everything is good except if I use Bafang Config Tool after doing a read, cannot write in fact I get error 30. so far only way to fix is to the complete flash again. I want to set the assist 0 values to 1 so the throttle will work independent of PAS. I tried both the Bafang Config Tool and the Stafan Penov version with same results am afraid try many more time fear of breaking the connector or something else. Any help or explanation? Is my controller locked and shuts down communication error 30 if try reading with the Config Tool?
I have 2 bikes with BBSHD, the other is a Luna BBSHD, before using the FlashTool I was able to copy the Luna settings to to my other eBay BBSHD bike.
by the way - yesterday first time using the serial cable for anything!
You need an editable firmware file to be able to modify the parameters. Go ahead and reach out to our support team they can send you the firmware for that

Check to see if your BBSHD motor has the code xxx1050xxx...
The file from Golden Motor is CRR10E5228E104022..wont work on my 48V1000w motor since have a 10500 code... Check your motor, if it has the text ...1050....on your motor then the hex code wont work from Golden motor.. you may get it file from endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=100064 with the 1050 bin file. E.g. CRR10E522810502. or CRR10E483010502...

5228: 52Volts 28Amps
4830: 48Volts 30Amps
1050221: Firmware version... should match your motor something like 105022... not 104022
Follow the thread link above and get the CRR10E4830105001.1_190413-1.bin to flush it again to unbrick and then flush
it with the correct code....

so what happens if you use a 52v battery on a 48v firmware ? the issue I have is my bike works fine with my 52v main battery, but when I use my 48v battery the BBSHD starts limiting current around 46 to 47v so I have around 10 amp hours of capacity that I can only access at 500w or less.
I have a question: I've been installing bafang motors (mostly bbs02) on bikes for the last 3 years. Programmed all of them with the configuration software or eggrider and never had an issue, until now. After writing flash, the PAS is disabled (or works only at startup degree 1, but very erratic), and I can only make it work normally again with a lot of luck, restarting the controller, re-writing flash over and over again. but without any guarantee it will ever work again. totally random. I've been told they now produce the controllers in Poland...
also have not been able to find the mcu on bbs02 controllers purchased in 2023. I'll dig one open to see if they still use the same mcu.
please let me knof if you have a clue of what might be going on!

Can you flash the controller for a Rad City Step-thru 3? Error code 30 keeps popping up. Will not throttle. Even though I had new wiring harness and controller installed. Where do you find the usb connector?
This appears very comprehensive and convincing! Is it for Golden Motor customers only or can anyone use these techniques even in Australia>I have been having several problems using the SPEEED app which has had the effect of disabling my PAS involving a round trip of 700kms just to get my controller set back to factory settings. Because of these hassles, I decided to get an EGGRIDER which claimed better ways of programming settings safely. Well I managed a 30km ride quite ok, but when I went to update the firmware, it again crashed and can no longer find the correct protocol for connection with the controller. After swapping over to my previous display, it also showed a 30H error meaning No Communication with controller. I am so frustrated by all these hassles, I am grasping at straws to find a solution? It looks from your video that you are able to program a controller back to factory settings? Can anyone do that? It would save me so much time and cost if I was able to do that. My motor is a BBSHD - only done 1500 kms. Love to hear that you can help?

Nice info sir. I got a bafang 500W 36V bs02 and open source software and "disconnect display plug and plug in usb adaptor" then run software that lets you play with many parameters. Nice but needs resetting from experience, like throttle settings too aggressive.
Now what ever I use a sofware to tune it, the Error 30 comes back.
Recently bought a bafang display with a password on tried everything will this take of the password to the lcd so i can turn the bike on as its off the road useless
I have just followed this method and it fixed the battery level display issue, but if I connect to the controller using the app, it throws a 30h code straightaway and the only way to clear it is reflash again, anyone fixed this issue
so i went to download your soft ware and my computer said your download has a virus contained within it and will not allow it to download. any ideas guys???
going from 36v to 48v this eliminated error 7 and gave me error 30 bbso2b
Be careful fully investigate error 30H first before following these instructions , As mine turned out to be a bent pin & needed a new wiring loom main cause of error 30H , But in between in my panic i followed the instructions here & flashed my controller that was 52v at 30a , After i flashed my controller my amps had dropped to 28a , be careful not to take a step backwards & loos power , a good learning tutorial on how to flash controller , But going from 30a to 28a Not so good & the 30a firmware is not on there website for a straight download
So when you connect the programming software to adjust pedal assist etc would it now show 52v in the right hand column where it says controller info?
