I must say, the climbing above everyone then diving on them tactic really helped me with the F-5C. Look, back in the day when I started playing WT (2013) I literally did it for one reason only, to be able to fly the F86 in test flight. Back then I had no real money that I could spend on this game, I never got premium and I never got any premium planes. The experience sucked total ass. It would take me soooo long to just research a single plane, because I was playing arcade mode as I was 'scared' of RB. When I started playing again recently, I got me a premium plane (learned the ins and outs of dogfighting in this game) and when the sale happened this year I got the F-5C and premium account for 195 days total. The climbing above everyone and then diving on them with my Aim-9's actually works quite well, since people don't really expect you, so if you catch them off guard you get easy kills from the crappy missiles. I then usually dogfight a few people and usually I absolutely destroy them. The issue I had in the beginning is I would stay low with my team and just get obliterated by the wall of missiles from F14's and Mig23's and now even damn Tornados, or I would get 3rd and 4th partied in a dogfight. I think what the climbing really does for you is you aren't part of the initial onslaught / not many people see you. I went from like a 0.5 KD at best with the F-5C to around 2 or 3 per match now just because I climb at the start
I absolutely hate playing the F5C against tornados, they will refuse to dog fight you and just out run you, gain position then rain radar missiles at you and never really engage. And its so frustrating as the only way to really kill a tornado is to let them get in your 6 and make them overshoot if you can even get them to engage in the first place. Ive had several games where its a 1v1 and the tornado will just run away until the timer expires hiding around their airfield

It's very hard to get R60M kills on people unless they are oblivious, a number of people when launching the longer range IR missiles assume you fired an R60 out if range and sometimes won't flair.
I don’t understand why people don’t talk about the stale state of air RB. It really needs a fresh overhaul. High tier is too chaotic to be enjoyable. Even if your team is doing well, I find myself 1 of 4 planes chasing the one poor jet until his certain death. My F16 gathers dust until there is something worth playing.
MiG-21bis is a better one-circler in real life. You can look that up too. USAF evaluated the MiG-21's best strength is the 1-circle, can even get it's nose on an F-15. Any modern fighter will beat it in a 2 circle, because the MiG's wing has lots of induced drag which bleeds energy in a sustained turn.
Is nobody going to mention thr harrier gr1? Absolutely no countermeasures against all aspect missiles, no RWR, piss flight performance except for acceleration and even the SRAAMs don’t do much against planes with 100+ flares each.
Two things. First, F-16A not being able to turn with a MiG-21bis, holy shit. More importantly, keep in mind that Germany will likely get their own MiG-29A, so grinding with this may be useful.
One year later its 11.0 and dont getting into a fight with 4th gen fighters anymore and its in a some kind of sweet spot today, i really like this plane but in terms of grinding still nothing has changed, germany suffers (only 29g but its still 29 sooo...)

The lazur is still great. I carry 2x incendiary bombs the drop together and will finish a base. I also carry 4x r-60s to pick off distracted targets. I fly super low and keep it on the edge of the speed warning. This combined with using the terrain almost guarantees you’ll get a base and then you can engage enemies that are fur balling with your team. However, I do carry a full tank of fuel in this scenario because by the time you get to the base and drop your ordinance, you have burned enough fuel and should have about 18 minutes left. So you’ll be lighter
You should play the MiG-17AS. I used it to grind for MiG-29 and dang is it good. Easily printed out 1 mil SL per hour without even tryharding, just casual playing.
Just picked mine up to grind for german tornado and the mig 29. Having a blast with it, the r60mk is a great missle. It fixed the main problem with the mig 21 and it's that it needed faster/better missles. It slaughters F4s and tomcats if your smart

I own the F-4F early (grinded it back in 2021 and kept it) and I'd definitely much rather have the 100 GJN. No countermeasures at 10.3 especially in something as hot and heavy as a Phantom is a death sentence nowadays, and all you get out of it is only four AIM-9J's - very mid missiles

I’m able to notch F-16s with the Jaguar E despite not having RWR though, so I think it should be possible for a 104 with CMs to do the same, even though difficult. At least you don’t have to fight the F-16s and MiG-29s all the time.

how about the f4u 4b with its new FM change? It climbs very well now but it compresses a lot at high speed and can't lose energy at all to reverse people, also it starts flatspinning on stalls and won't recover using full real control if you have a yellow wingtip.

@@grum__1 sorry I misstook it from SAU but anyway... Lazur-M doesn't give it's pilot any lead indicator. That system connects to ground radars and sets the plane on intercept course with the target.

@@niggalini R-60s still have the acceleration to catch people off guard so I ussualy just take 6x R-60MKs. They also work really great in headons against the F-14s because of how hot they are, even if they are flaring.
Imo i feel like it's loadout doesn't justify the 11.3 battle rating. Especially considering what it faces in uptiers which happen 75% of its matches I've played it seems. I definitely have buyers remorse for this plane. I should've done some research to see how it performs because if i knew what state it was in now I'd of just gotten the tornado.
The strategy I’ve found for this plane is to take 4xR60MKs with 2 ZB-500 bombs and enough fuel to leave full afterburners for more than half the match. Basically just take off, stay below 150 meters and sprint for the nearest base. Once you drop your bombs, you zoom away and support your teammates (if they’ve already killed everyone then just kill some AI). If you want to just fight air targets, 2xR13M1 and 4xR60MK works well (but it’s pretty easy to get outclassed when the entire team is F14s and F16s and you have a single 29, with your whole team dying within a minute). Personally I prefer taking the bombs and hitting a base because the amount of sl you lose gets insane after a few matches of getting 7v1ed since your whole team flew straight at the enemy like smooth brains.
@@truta3715 In most circumstances that would be the case, but the Lazur M is in an odd spot BR wise. Since it’s 11.0 it will be matched against 11.7 and 12.0 in 90% of matches. Because of this, it can be almost suicidal to try and kill the AI targets (which are CL-13s like half the time so they’re worthless anyways). The only reason I choose to take the ZB’s is to rekindle SOME amount of sl and not go completely negative. In a lot of matches it’s almost impossible to get kills because either your team claps the enemies before you can engage, or your team gets clapped and you’re left in a 1v8 against 4th gens.
I'm going to play the "noob" here for once, but what the fuck is going on with SARHs at top tier? I can avoid most of them no problem, but sometimes it seems that even if you pull the textbook "notching+chaff" on the damn thing, the missile still doesn't give a fuck. What's the big idea?
Surprising how fast the lazur turns with low fuel. That f-16 was going way too slow though.. f-16 FM at very low speeds right now is trash. He could have just accelerated away and Defyn wouldn't have been able to do anything with the trash r-60mks. One flare is all it takes per missile and F-16 has way more acceleration. Get some distance, turn back in and force the headon, which f-16 always wins due to the sparrows. After that, it's just a sparrow/9l lottery - if Defyn manages to dodge all of the missiles, again, f-16 can just burn out and rearm. Just a very poor (or lazy) pilot on the other end.

Gaijin needs to stop rewarding fighters for bombing in air rb. I've had 10 games with 3+ premium mig 23s arguing over who gets what base. Only won 2 out of the 10 because my team would have 3 fighters base rushing directly into f-14/16s without even trying to dodge. The same ppl would then turn around and cry about US planes being overpowered and how it's impossible to grind despite having a $70 rank 7.
Base bombing is a very crucial part for grinding stock fighters. Thats how I grinded mods for F-16A and it is by far just the fastest method, so it shouldnt be nerfed. Problem is with players that just go 500 m in the air and try to outrun pheonixes just to try bombing a base. This is truly just a skill issue on the player part. I had no problems bombing bases in my F-16A even against US teams. People just have to learn how to dodge Fox-1s and Fox-3s by just hugging the ground and watching out for the occasional Fox-2.
@@jblakemore Im still fine with base bombing if theyre premiums as long as after they bomb they return to air to air duties. Too many people just turn into a dedicated bomber.
This is one of the better premiums jets I've played with and honestly I've had a lot of fun.

I've found that the mig 23 ml players don't dodge the missiles in a Headon, the sky flash makes them easy targets

Crazy that they’re uptiering the Italian F-104S’s to 11.0 when they’re not nearly as good as this mig-21 which deserves to be at 11.0
The F-104s are going up because they have CMs which negates the F-104’s biggest weakness in its playstyle: dealing with good missiles.

It isn’t too bad tbh, especially bc you’ll mostly see level 10 a10 players, it does stake skill to use tho and take a little time to master but it isn’t that bad

@@niggalini R-60s still have the acceleration to catch people off guard so I ussualy just take 6x R-60MKs. They also work really great in headons against the F-14s because of how hot they are, even if they are flaring.

Imo i feel like it's loadout doesn't justify the 11.3 battle rating. Especially considering what it faces in uptiers which happen 75% of its matches I've played it seems. I definitely have buyers remorse for this plane. I should've done some research to see how it performs because if i knew what state it was in now I'd of just gotten the tornado.

The strategy I’ve found for this plane is to take 4xR60MKs with 2 ZB-500 bombs and enough fuel to leave full afterburners for more than half the match. Basically just take off, stay below 150 meters and sprint for the nearest base. Once you drop your bombs, you zoom away and support your teammates (if they’ve already killed everyone then just kill some AI). If you want to just fight air targets, 2xR13M1 and 4xR60MK works well (but it’s pretty easy to get outclassed when the entire team is F14s and F16s and you have a single 29, with your whole team dying within a minute).
Personally I prefer taking the bombs and hitting a base because the amount of sl you lose gets insane after a few matches of getting 7v1ed since your whole team flew straight at the enemy like smooth brains.

@@truta3715 In most circumstances that would be the case, but the Lazur M is in an odd spot BR wise. Since it’s 11.0 it will be matched against 11.7 and 12.0 in 90% of matches. Because of this, it can be almost suicidal to try and kill the AI targets (which are CL-13s like half the time so they’re worthless anyways). The only reason I choose to take the ZB’s is to rekindle SOME amount of sl and not go completely negative. In a lot of matches it’s almost impossible to get kills because either your team claps the enemies before you can engage, or your team gets clapped and you’re left in a 1v8 against 4th gens.

I'm going to play the "noob" here for once, but what the fuck is going on with SARHs at top tier? I can avoid most of them no problem, but sometimes it seems that even if you pull the textbook "notching+chaff" on the damn thing, the missile still doesn't give a fuck. What's the big idea?

Chaff doesn't do much against PD radar, next time try to go as low as you can, radars go weird when you go low

Surprising how fast the lazur turns with low fuel. That f-16 was going way too slow though.. f-16 FM at very low speeds right now is trash. He could have just accelerated away and Defyn wouldn't have been able to do anything with the trash r-60mks. One flare is all it takes per missile and F-16 has way more acceleration. Get some distance, turn back in and force the headon, which f-16 always wins due to the sparrows. After that, it's just a sparrow/9l lottery - if Defyn manages to dodge all of the missiles, again, f-16 can just burn out and rearm. Just a very poor (or lazy) pilot on the other end.

Gaijin needs to stop rewarding fighters for bombing in air rb. I've had 10 games with 3+ premium mig 23s arguing over who gets what base. Only won 2 out of the 10 because my team would have 3 fighters base rushing directly into f-14/16s without even trying to dodge. The same ppl would then turn around and cry about US planes being overpowered and how it's impossible to grind despite having a $70 rank 7.
Base bombing is a very crucial part for grinding stock fighters. Thats how I grinded mods for F-16A and it is by far just the fastest method, so it shouldnt be nerfed. Problem is with players that just go 500 m in the air and try to outrun pheonixes just to try bombing a base. This is truly just a skill issue on the player part. I had no problems bombing bases in my F-16A even against US teams. People just have to learn how to dodge Fox-1s and Fox-3s by just hugging the ground and watching out for the occasional Fox-2.
