I have the exact system and just found out the issue with my cd player was the rubber belt, but did not know about the hidden one. Thank you for the video and your great instructions. Greeting from Australia.
Just got round to repairing the unit. Was easy and i am not usually good at this stuff. And it works like a dream. Thats for this tutorial. Much appreciated. Nice one. !
Thanks for creating the video. Having problems recently where my CD unit doesn't seem to want to play the 2nd CD. Wasn't sure exactly what to do about until I came across your useful video. I will see if I can open it up and change the belts with your expert instructions. Cheers
Thank you, Stephen, great job. CD player didn't work anymore, belts are worn out after 20 years. I managed to fix one of them with a rubber band as workaround, ordered a new set at webspareparts. Greetings from Germany.
Really nice video, thanks. Our unit has worn out belts for the tape decks and CD changer, as well as the faulty volume dial. Look forward to the next installment
Hi Stephen - Just followed your video for the change of the CD belts & it works a treat now, thanks so much. I now need to change the tape belts, I'll follow your other video guide & report back to you in a few weeks. By the way, the other problem I have is with the type on the LCD crystal display breaking up, any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks again, you've saved me a few bob already! (PS - I have the same problem with the volume control) - Richard Moody
@@stephensrailways That'll be good, is your LCD perfectly clear after 20ish years then? Also, just out of interest, I don't think that the 3 smaller belts are identical. The 4 belts delivered to me for the CD were marked as follows SG431 + 2 x SG110 + SG263. When I looked at them very very closely I reckoned that the one under the CD player was very very slightly larger but there certainly wasn't much in it!
Hey, so I wanted to repair my CD changer and I took it apart more than I should. I put it back together and replaced all belts but the hidden motor wants to push even when it's pushed all the way, then it retracts a little and starts to push again. After few seconds the entire deck turns off. Do you have any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?
Great video. I opened the CD housing and the belts have almost disintegrated, but definitely broken. My question is two fold: 1) when I push the button to eject, nothing happens (for any of the 5) as if there is no power to the machine but there is. Does that mean there is more damage than just the belts? and 2) should the plastic wheels be turning regardless of the belt or if they do not, can this problem be fixed? If so, where can I order these replacement belts in the USA. Thanks for any help/advice.
It could be the where the buttons to play and eject make contact with the circuit board, as the play button for deck 4 on mine, (the one that actually has '4' printed on it, is not very responsive.
Hello Stephen. Thank for posting this video. I have recently bought a replacement CD part of the same system from eBay, replaced the belts as this was needed but the motors aren’t working at all to open any of the trays. I was wondering if you could help and give some guidance on what to do? Sorry to be a pain. Many thanks, Mat.
@@MatOrchard If the motors have stopped working all together then I'm not sure. But perhaps you could coax them into life by turning them manually. When I did this belt replacement, I also oiled all of the motors on the bearing where the shaft goes into the motor. This helps make them quieter and extends their life. As I do model railways, I used the same oil that I use on my model locomotives, which is made by Gaugemaster. It's a good quality oil, and it doesn't damage plastic either, should it find its way on to any plastic parts. Hope this helps!
I have same issue as nordberg 73. So will order the part. So wierd as the supplier lives near me . Drove past there last week! will visit to collect. Want to repair it as i have 25 uears worth of cds which i love to play. A new cd system similar by phillips is 350quid! Will report back which me luck!
Really useful, thanks! I’m having a problem on mine whereby the unit is only detecting Disk 1. The other 4 slots have disks in them, but I’m unable to eject (No Disc). Do you think this might be related to loose belts? They don’t feel horrendous, but the longest is pretty slack..
New belts £12 and 10 mins to change them. System works perfectly again now! Thanks for your guide - I would’ve 100% binned it had I not found your video!
Replaced all the belts and my CD player is now working in perfect condition. Thanks again mate.

Watched this great video (2x), and successfully fixed the CD drive: surprised myself! Many thanks, MAGIC!

Thanks, I hope you found it useful! I haven't got around to getting the parts for the volume dial yet, but it's good to know its a common issue.
Thank You. Fixed my CD player - clear instructions on changing the belts.

Have you done any video on cassette player belt replacement? Can you please share the link?
I haven't made any videos yet but I will share them if I do.

Oh, I’m no expert engineer repair type person at all either. Quote useless in fact haha.

I'm not 100% sure but the belts are cheap, it may be worth a go
