- Footage of West Branch High School student Lucas Lacina pinning his opponent was shared on Facebook by his mother, Jill Winger-Lacina, on November 25. She can be heard cheering her son on in the footage.
Winger-Lacina said said her son’s opponent, named Austin, showed sportsmanship and kindness during the match. " He had an amazing heart and he was patient and helped Lucas try to put to work the moves he has been practicing all season," she wrote on Facebook.
“What I love the most though is the end when he helps Lucas off the mat where he is cheered on by his whole team, she wrote. “Sportsmanship and inclusion at it’s finest.”
The young man in blue showed sportsmanship and honor. The young man in red showed determination and courage. Both have wonderful parents and coaches. The very best to them.

Winning isn’t the most important thing. The young man in the blue displays deep level of character through his compassion, kindness, and excellent sportsmanship. What an example to all on how to conduct yourself in life. Cheers
Man I love how the young man in blue gave him just a little bit of a fight. Made him earn the win. Didn’t just roll over so easily. Too many times we patronize those with special needs by just immediately giving them a win. I believe he showed even more compassion and care by giving the young man in red an actual fight. This kid made him earn a win. Much respect young man!!!

it is pathetic, giving a disabled person a win just for a ''feel good' is actually very insulting to disabled people, it is fake, its not genuine and it does not give dignity to a disabled person; it also means that it normal and ok to lower the bar and have very low to zero expectations of a person, that they just might have a skill or potential that they can be genuinely good at, sports, art, music, or whatever. how about supporting disabled people to explore and try things, yes, and also if they have a strong interest in something, help them learn skills and develop real talent and skill that is worthy of praise, and not a fake fantasy that is put on just for a cheap ''feel-good''. this crap goes on constantly mean while we do have disabled folks who actually have legit skills and talents, and they do not usually get taken with any sort of seriousness or sincerely when they want to show it and use it. giving people fake praise for something they did not do well, or are not capable of actually hurt them in the long run, and it harms a persons ability to be presumed competent or taken seriously in general when the person basically is taught to live in fantasy world. this is coming from 20 years of working in adult DD social services and advocacy systems talking here.
I am 45, i wrestled for 12 years....and tears are rolling down my cheek like after my first lost match. So nice and heartwarming...love the boys. Both of them

It reminds me of the even greater love and compassion God had for Jacob as they wrestled in Genesis 32:22-32. There was an even greater disparity there. But God “let” Jacob win and He blessed him. Through that blessing to Jacob, we all are blessed by the birth of Jesus Christ as our Savior!

Went against a kid with cerebral palsy, and there was one thing I can do for him. It is to win and keeping winning until I attain my dream. I don’t regret I don’t feel guilty but I rather sacrifice myself then lose another match.
After the match is over... look at how happy Lucas is. Biggest smile he can put on!! What a great bit of video to exist.

Ever see a long distance runner give up the win to help a competitor cross the finish line? Yea, this is like that. I saw an interview with Lucas' [red] mom, This was an actual points match not just some exibition to appease Lucas.
This is sportmanship at it's finest.

That young man has more strength, more courage, and more maturity than I will ever have on the best day of my whole life. It defies words, what he did.
My kids were all in competitive wrestling from like 6 yrs old through high school. Looking back it makes me happy to know that every one of them would have done this without question.

The most beautiful thing I've seen in a long time
99% of the videos I see on a daily basis involve stuff I'm not interested in or don't want to see. However, this video is that 1% margin that I love seeing, I was on snapchat reels and stumbled upon this, I came to youtube to find it since snap only has 30 or so seconds of it and I was in tears by the end of the video while reading the comments section. The kid in blue was raised right, I'd bet that the parents were proud to see their son out there in this match. The kid in the red is going to do amazing things in life for sure. His parents are amazing and will guide him to successful endeavors. This video should also be used as a reminder to everyone that compassion plays a huge role in society. Not everything has to be a competition. It's not about who wins or who loses. At the end of the day, it's the happiness that was had during the game.

I remember this match...the kid in blue didn't know a college scout was in the audience and ended up losing his scholarship and turning to a life of drugs until he was shot and killed by another man who had bet thousands on him and accused him of throwing the match on purpose and putting him in debt with the mafia
