She's from Memphis and you're definitely right that we take fur very seriously in Black communities in the South. Once the weather gets cold soooo many ladies at my church bring out their furs.
Usually I like when they are super educated about fashion and the brands they collect from but she has a such a clear personal style and you can tell she loves fashion and has fun with it even if she doesn’t always know about the brands or the history of the pieces. Loved it
@@jessiejoseph1093 mostly based on how she didn’t know how to pronounce certain brands and didn’t talk as much about the vintage items. But I don’t think it’s a bad thing! I as someone with a lesser fashion knowledge just love watching the super knowledgeable ones so I can learn. But I really enjoyed the video and love seeing someone who just loves fashion and is learning along the way.
That has nothing to do with this she has a thick Southern accent that's all best believe she knows everything that she's purchasing.. simple as that!@@lauraodylis
seeing you react to Dearra was not on my bingo card this year. but the more I think about her influence on black trends and fashion within the internet and RUclips world specifically, (especially in southern regions) its quite clear she's had her finger on the pulse for a while. and although she may not be the MOST educational platform for fashion, she is the perfect example of PASSION for fashion and combining the worlds of vintage/preservation with trends/innovation , it was such a gem to see you interact with her style like this. greatttt video.
Right ! Very refreshing to hear black American heritage/ fashion history from someone outside of the race instead of it being talked about in a negative light ❤️
I love how her closet prioritizes function so she can wear her clothes, sometimes in these closet tours I feel like they’re just displaying their clothes & don’t really wear them! I can tell she loves wearing her clothes ❤
I also like that she’s really showing her real closet, I feel a lot of people are just showing their show expensive pieces. But she’s like showing us her T-shirt drawer. I mean, yeah she has a lot, and yes, she has spent a lot, but what she is showing us is what she loves, this doesn’t feel like a brag, it feels like she’s revealing what she loves. There’s some vulnerability here . And she has some really unique stuff,. I feel like she’s mixing Balenciaga with target tshirts…. She just feels so real. Love it.
the crazy thing is I feel like her vintage collection and taste has just gotten better and better since this! Would love to see an update from her! Her Tokyo shopping vlog had gemssss
I just love that you can look at a sliver of a shoe on a crowded shelf I know exactly which designer and which collection it came from. You're like a walking encyclopedia!
There have been quite a few impressive closet tours but this one, I am obsessed with. A closet that is full of functional pieces, lots of great finds, and is not pretentious, not even one bit. Nothing too trendy but simply a reflection of her personal style and taste which is what a real closet should be. The vintage pieces were a bonus! 😍
I appreciate that he mentions the fur. I’m from the south and fur for us symbolizes wealth, prestige/status and stability. If someone had fur it meant that they were well off and wasn’t hurting for money, that they took care of business and their families.
Dearra has personal taste for days. Its so refreshing to see a closet tour from someone that makes their own decisions and genuinely appreciates fashion.
Loveeee de'arra shes an og youtuber and has now ventured into fashion/sunglass wear. Her sunglasses are fire btw, loved your video on her closet tour!! She's always buying something & I'm here for it, she gives rich auntie vibes
I love that her closet is a little messy. Like some of the shoes you can tell she wore recently because they're kind of stuffed back into place. It actually felt like we were looking at her closet and not just an exhibition.
17:10 She has been on youtube for a lot longer but used to have a couple channel which got big but they broke up after a lot of years. She might be talking about when she started her solo channel
I was just about to say this lol! im almost certain she's referring to the start of her solo channel. she was apart of a very successful RUclips couple for years just btw Luke!
I would really love for you to do one of your videos on some of the African fashion designers. The dresses that I have been seeing lately have been absolutely works of art.
Love it, an actual closet, where there's a huge variety of things she love's .. great to see something other than the hi I am looking rich collection of the same items as everyone else
4:03 I appreciate you mentioning this. I’m from Detroit. In my community, the is not stigma of fur. And purchasing fur coat as investment pieces and prized gift is still very prevalent
I have loved Dearra and been watching her videos since about 2015-16! shes been one of the top fashion girlies every sinceeee this is crazy , I literally thought I had misread when i saw the notification for this video lol!! Feels like my two worlds of YT are colliding, It was too good to be true
I love that she genuinely likes all the things she has bought. Nothing is for someone else or an idea of what you should buy, she likes it she gets it. And her taste is so fun!!
I love her vintage , but the bags and shoes I'm lusting over them 😂 she's awesome. Always enjoy your critiques. You make it fun. Blessings Love Joy and Happiness your way 💕💕💕
I'm so glad you did this. I love De'arra ! I also think that you do a wonderful job with all of your videos , and I specially love when you do closet reviews🎉❤
Really like this closet tour. She has great taste. I also dig this tour it’s not professionally organized and styled. I make do with the space I have and rotate seasonally too. Cool to see a big influencer doing the same.
Refreshing to see really expensive stuff in the same plastic bins from Walmart we all use instead of Kardashian level architecture for a purse or sandals. Just super relatable
I do like a closet tour where the "host" gives some of the provenance along with the personal appeal of item to the "host". The decorated shoes are so much fun to look at. For me they would remain at home only being seen in uploaded images but not walking (or in my case falling) down a street.
Keep an eye on her channel…I’m sure a new closet tour is coming because she went CRAZY vintage shopping in Tokyo and just moved into her new home. Also Lorvae debuted in Apr 2022…cop you a pair or two or three😂..iykyk😂
Jumpsuits are full length- they get their name from the suits skydivers would wear for jumping out the plane I've got a pair of the Julian Hake shoes! they don't have arch support at all, but In heels you're often not really get much arch support anyway so it doesn't matter nearly as much as you'd think it might, they're also not all that high so the balls of your feet aren't totally dying 😂 They're fun, I might wear them for a few hours to a party or something, but I wouldn't wear them for a day at work or anything mad
D’earra is an OG, with over 7million followers. Her style is fun and eccentric and she buys quality that she likes and that suit her personality…love that for her! Also this video was before she launched her shades line. ❤❤❤❤ love this vid!
Yess, my family is from Georgia and South Carolina and they love their fur coats and hats. I didn't know this was a cultural thing, but it makes sense now that people are talking about it.
Her small sparkly purses are called "minaudières". ADORE THEM!! In the 80s minaudières were all the rage, part of the "Me Generation"/Yuppy's proclivity for unabashed shows of excessive wealth and consumerism, yet somehow still done tastefully - with gaudy Baroque and even Rococo lavish Artistic Beauty, Inspiration, and Invention taken to the nth degree, but with enough restraint to remain of fine quality, with a splash of humour and jocund fun thrown in for good measure. Thrilled that these stunning, tongue-in-cheek, luxurious yet playful designs have once again caught the imagination of the cultural zeitgeist. ;)❤
I ike that you can tell she just buys things she genuinely likes, doesn't matter if it's cheap or expensive, and they're all displayed with love.

Skipping over the birkins is iconic.... real fashion girly ✨️
I think in one of her videos, she had them blurred out😂
I was gagged 😭😭

I like she even admits when she hasn't worn something, she's honest and probably just waiting to let the pieces truly shine!
@@ariannasv22 yes! She understands when a garment ✨deserves a moment✨
That’s why they don’t go into detail about their collection. It overwhelms them too!
The most impressive part is Luke barely seeing things peaking out and knowing the brand and collection they're from.
