By chance I met Deeno at Gagosian’ Gallery in Beverly Hills and noticed his nonchalant demeanor as he talked with prominent collectors and overheard him utter your name, I smiled thinking this young guy represents John Free well!

I'm so glad to find out I'm not the only one who loves to photograph automobiles in an abstract way. Some of my favorite photos are close-ups of engine parts that I took while working in the garage with my fiance. You are truly an inspiration!

Great video. I've been taking photos of cars recently and this will inspire me to look much closer at the details. There's a lot of vintage cars here in the UK and I love the rust.

You're the reason I started shooting film, John! Keep doing what you do. I hope to attend a seminar one day! (Canada is a long way from where you are)

I really love this channel. You focus on the “life”, on the “craft” of capturing moments and not the gear. This is something rare and something that is really needed on the internet where most people seem to only care about the fanciest gear. I’ve only watched a few of your videos so far, but learned more than I ever learned from any other RUclips channels. I really look forward to your future videos.
Quoting Henri Cartier-Bresson, “Photography is nothing, it is life that interests me”.
Wishing you all the very best from Mauritius, Mr Free. Cheers!

Thank you Dheevesh. I hope someone will take my advice and purchase a 35mm S.L.R. camera made in Japan from EBAY for $150.00 or less. Very fine optics and rugged construction will enable anyone to have great equipment. The eye and heart are more important that high priced cameras.

John Free I agree, sir. Unfortunately, in Mauritius (small island nation the size of London with a population of about one million), there is no way to have film developed anymore. I’ve reached out to several photo labs by looking up their numbers up from our old photo albums: they have all completely stopped the film development process. The solutions used in the development process are no longer sold in the country either.
As of me, I am 19, taking photos as a hobby since I was 13. Of course, I do so with the resources available to me. It is people like you, focussed more on the craft and less on the tools, who inspire me.

    Hey John,
Been watching your videos for a while, as an old timer expat living in South East Asia.
Your love and passion for photography, for cars, and the many people that you make images of, really inspires me to try and see things as you do. So thank you John and of course Dino
for wonderful content. Have a wonderful 2019.
    regards Ian

2:55 Crazy time consuming, but necessary. I had the fender of my stupid little car painted by a friend. I then bolted it back on, but now there was a big gap between the hood and fender. I never could set it completely straight...
