DTM Print Tutorial: How to reactivate dried cartridges

There are two different ways to reactivate your Primera cartridge, which will be explained in this video.Please note, that no matter which option you choose, make sure to repeat the steps of each option until the ink pattern on the paper towel looks like the picture on the right. All 3 colors should be clearly visible.
Option 1:
Place a wet paper towel or cloth on a table. Then press the cartridge with the integrated print head onto the paper towel and knock 3 to 5 times on the cartridge.
Afterward wipe the bottom of the cartridge on the paper towel to clean off the print head. As said in the introduction please repeat all steps until all three colors are clearly visible on the paper towel.
Option 2:
Fill a bowl with warm water and place a dry paper towel next to it.
Put the cartridge in the water for about 10 seconds. Make sure that only the print head is under the water.
Take out the cartridge and wipe the bottom of the cartridge on the paper towel until all three colors are clearly visible.

It's pretty unreal how well this easy step worked. I was printing and nothing was coming out on the paper, but using a damp paper towel just worked, the printing is so clear and dark. I will remember this simple fix and mention whenever possible. And now I don't have to replace a whole printer, what a lifesaver.
Does this work with epson cartridges? Specifically the 440 model?
I need to hopefully remember this should it happen again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! You just saved me from spending hundreds buying a new set of color and black cartridges. I tried other hacks, didnt work. I tried both your methods alternately and they definitely help to reactivate my clogged/dried ink cause it's been 1.5years since I last used my printer!
My cartridge was dry and I had to get some important docs printed. I called up my service engineer. He said it must be dry and I will have to buy a new one. I asked him is there no way I can make it work? He said no. I googled and found this video helpful. Tada! my cartridge is now working after following this procedure. Thanks for sharing this hack! CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH. The warm water trick worked like an absolute charm on an old pack of black ink and saved me a whole damn 40 dollars on a new pack of ink for this printer.
It works! After arguing with my brother for 20mins, on who should have replaced the ink, we were able to print out important documents. Thanks for the help.
The paper towel method worked a lot better than I dared hope.
Tonight you are a lifesaver. Tomorrow morning my mom has to send off some documents. Can't send the originals. I was dismayed to find that my ink had dried in the coppier. I used your method... #2 worked... And the job was done. So glad you were there! PS: It worked on Cannon coppier carftriges, the ones where you get 5 narrow ones together. I had to stick them in the water because the ink face does not come in contact with the surface. I was able to blot up into the ink surface and get a good color . Thanks again!
Wow! You just prevented me from throwing my entire printer and cartidges across the room. Now we can get our homeschool worksheets printed!!! (PS - the kids may not be happy, but I sure am!)

Brilliant. I used the advice in option 2. Cannot believe I threw away my last cartridges when they had only printed 20 sheets. My new ones had only printed ten sheets. I only use printer three times a year. I know what to do in future now. Thanks.

Used the second method and as my printing was coming out grey and streaky, sometimes missing a whole line of text. Now it prints perfectly! And I was just about to go spend money on new ink. I believe this happened as I barely use my printer so it must've dried up. Thank you so much sir!
I had a cartridge that was sitting there for 200 years, now works great.
THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!! Thanks so much because I was about to toss my printer out the window. I have an important document that I need to sign and scan and spent all day trying to get something to actually print for me.

Took a few passes to get the ink flowing completely freely (it didn't flow in the printer at all after the first attempt despite showing up on the wet paper towel) but perseverance and repeated applications worked, along with 'second-level cleaning' of the cartridges within the printer tools. Thanks!
I purchased a cartridge and it was sitting on my printer for about 6 months without being used I used this method and my cartridge works now :) thank you so much for sharing !

Thank you so much ! I had just thrown 2 cartridges in the trash when I saw this - got them out straight away and fixed them using this method !!! Now stored in the refrigerator.
Hi people. Soooo.... in addition to this video is a supplement.
I did as the video suggested but it didn't work until I tried a couple more steps. As you know, if you're refilling ink, the top of the cartridge may not seal right and ink will dry up. So I opened my color up and added fresh ink. I then used packing tape to completely seal the top. I could use glue but then you can't use it again. Although I never tried silicone, so theres that.
Anyhow, once you're sealed up, you need a few sheets of paper towel.
[ don't forget the ink will stain just about everything. ]
I couldn't get the new ink to wick because the bottom of the well was pretty dried up. DON'T GIVE UP! It took me 40 minutes to get it to work and a lot of patience, tapping, more soaking & tapping.
I then added a few drops of VINEGAR to the water. It kind of breaks the surface tension of the water, allowing it to access the wells. It prints flawlessly after months of sitting all dried out. 👍

I found the second more effective than the first (dipping the bottom of the cartridge for 10 seconds.) I did it twice, it worked like a charm! Thank you!

Method 1 sort of worked for me. The carts are knackered but I managed to squeeze a last drop out of them. Refil yourself seems to be the best way.

Worked for me! thanks! I had some HP cartridges that came with my printer from a year ago which I barely used and were dried up. Would try to print in black and an almost blank page would come out. Now it's printing like new!

Don’t normally comment on things but thank you. Had to send a very important document off but I hadn’t used my printer in years. Despite the printer saying I had at least half of the ink still left, it wasn’t printing out well at all. This sorted it right out :) I will say to others though that at first it wouldn’t really work but as soon as I used hot water rather than warm, it did. That or it takes a few times but it does work like a charm 😊

Super thank you!!!!!!!!!!!! U are the best! The 2nd works for me. Not just warm.. I used hot water from my microwave (30 secs) not boiling. At 1st it didn't work. Gonna try this to reactivate my Canon ink cartridges. They look exactly like the ones in the video. Replaced once & the 2nd one dried out as well. Can't keep buying new cartridges.
My HP is stupid, I tried everything and it does not work anyway. It probably did not recognize the cartridge.
Same here I tried the second method and my HP 2540 printer couldn't recognise the cartridges.
Then I throw my printer out.

The second method worked on 5 year old cartridges, but only for one page then it dried up again. Very surprising, I'm sure this will work well on younger cartridges, it was asking a lot to revive these ones.
