They way how I re discovered them was learning they won a Grammy over SOPHIE album- Every pearls un-insides for their women world wide live album😭💀 it's great but Sophie definitely deserved it that year
@@OngoGablogian487 sorry i worded my comment badly, not to say theyre obscure i just mean i dont see people talking about them as much as other acts like mgmt or daft punk despite being just as influencial and in my opinion making even better music
Sometimes I’d argue Justice is better than Daft Punk. Where Daft Punk looked to the past for their music, Justice kept their faces forward to the future, and were never afraid to push the boundaries of their sound, all while staying Justice. I love Daft Punk as well, since they pioneered one of my favorite genres and crafted timeless classics time after time, but Justice does something otherworldly that I hear with every single one of their songs that I just don’t get with Daft Punk. TL;DR, I love Justice.
My interpretation is Cross is the best album of their combined discographys (and for all of French Touch for that matter) but Daft Punk had the most groundbreaking overall discography.
Saw them in Paris earlier this year, definitely one of my favourite concerts, us french do love our electronic music. You should check out Arte's documentary about DJ Mehdi on youtube, it talks about this mid90s mid 00s french touch and electro house though one of our golden boys!
discovering genesis in 2012 when I was 16yo was maybe the first time I realized there was so much music that I listened to... this feeling later solidifed with Demon Days
Saw them this past weekend at III Points. Top 5 shows I’ve ever seen. It was absolute insanity. This, plus the fact that Hyperdrama was a really good record, solidifies them as one of the great acts in music lately
God, I got into Justice 3 months ago, and goddamn I have not been able to get enough. Love mixing in some New Lands to my Prog Metal and Postrock daily mixes, lol. Their mixes are SO TIGHT.
Literally been waiting for you to drop a video about justice for yonks. When you dropped your dance punk video I was like “yes, this is me, but he’s missing one component” and now you’ve done it 🎉 Saw them again at Field Day this year and they continue to amaze me 🙌
this is also a class in graphic design in music industry. I loved it, I'm a graphic designer and a musician too. Thanks always for your videos, my friend
I've been seeing justice be brought up more and more recently especially with the slight indie sleaze revival and it makes me really happy. They're really amazing.
Finally a video for my favorite album. And also thank you for shouting out about Planisphere, this track is a hidden gem and is probably my favorite song of all time
Nothing they've released has come close to Cross since AVD - they really pulled away from the big and aggressive rockier sounds. Also, SebastiAn was an unsung hero of Bloghouse, Total is insane and his hands are all over Cross. When Jonathan Daillier put out the documentary Head Down Seb definitely feels like the quiet protagonist throughout it
hey dude! thx for showing the world what justice rly means. tbh if it wasnt for a little 3 day trip to paris i had i wouldnt know abt justice! this video is amazing! keep up the good work!
The Assassins Creed 2 Gameplay trailer changed my life and introduced me to Justice with Genesis being used in the trailer. Will never forget that video
French new wave house (and edm) changed my life... it felt revolutionary at the time, but maybe I was just at an impressionable time in my life as I was just starting university.
This is AWESOME! 'Cross' is one of my all time favorite albums, and as a fan of your content, see that you made a video on Justice is so amazing. Congrats!! (PS. That french pronunciations were on POINT)
I completely agree with your point about Justice expanding my musical horizons. Before Justice, all I had ever really listened to was the rock that made it to the radio. Justice hooked me with their rock sound and they were the first band I ever really dug into, I listened to all their albums, Planisphere, the whole lot. From them, I ended up getting into Daft Punk and all sorts of other electronic music. I have them to thank for listening to as much music as I do! I love all their eras, but Woman Worldwide is my favorite, and one of my fav albums of all time. Hoping we get a good re-release of IRIS: A SPACE OPERA someday! There's probably a whole video someone could make about that movie, too. I felt like it was Justice finally making the disco opera they'd been wanting to all along. Great vid, love Justice, love Middle 8!
Justice kind of skipped off the surface of my attention at first when Cross came out, probably just because I had just finished college and was drowning in the job hunt, until one day a friend showed me the video for Stress. When the drop hit in the middle, I locked in and literally screamed "IS THAT A FUCKING DEVO SAMPLE?!" I've been hooked on them ever since.
The ironic thing about the idea that Justice are/were in Daft Punk's shadow is that - either when Random Access Memories departed almost entirely from EDM, or when Daft Punk broke up in '21 - I bet scores of people who miss the Robots ended up finding Justice as the alternative/continuation.
I normally wouldn’t say a band that’s won multiple Grammys, worked with Dior, and has been in a lot of popular media is underrated, but I actually think it’s true.
it was my second time seeing them this tour at iii points! seeing them again in atlanta tonight!! super excited. the soulwax/jamie xx/justice lineup was insane
So glad to have been able to work on this video, it turned out fantastic!! (I also saw a Justice shirt at a Voidz concert last week, reminded me of this exact video hahaha!)
11:10 I remember Kid Cudi didn't authorise the release of this music video and put out a really angry blog post about it lmao, there's an archive link on the wikipedia article
Man I love these videos so much, really engaging and makes finding new music exciting when you go in with all this background. Time to go listen to Justice, thanks dude!
I love the video. I only think you cold explore the feature Kevin Parker did with them in tha last album. I did not look for the information, but could be very nice to watch and listen about this story from your touch that is always IMPECABLE. Keep up with the great work dude.
I remember when this came out. I brought it into uni when I was studying sound engineering. We listened to it on really expensive monitors. To this day Genesis still makes me scratch my head. Also if someone could solve a 15 year mystery of how they get that throaty chorused bass sound like on Let There Be Light. I know they used Trillion bass and I think I can hear ableton's saturator on there. I've heard it could have been from Reason?
hey love the vids, just wanted to share an idea not sure if youve thought about it but it would be great to get a playlist of the songs mentioned in the videos - this would be amazing
Do the blaze. My favourite band at the moment, saw them alive as well. So fucking good. Music videos are a big part of the excellence, so watch queens, territory and virile
if you like Justice, you must know DJ Mehdi, co-founder of Ed Bangers and i highly recommend you watch a recent 6-part documentary about him made by Arte. Waters of Nazareth exists because of him. you will love it

The fact Justice won a Grammy for a remix of Electric Feel, but MGMT never did, is insane to me
@@Skillseboy1 that remix is something else, i don't care but that song is better than original by miles!
How exactly would that work? When a Grammy is awarded to a song all the songwriters receive the award.

Daft punk discovery> any album from Justice
Not gonna argue better or worse here, I just want to add that especially "Cross" is packed with microsamples from the disco era.
lol
i'm glad you commented this, i feel pretty much the same
