I've seen hundreds of bands in concert and I have to say Band-Maid last fall was likely the best concert I've been to. They genuinely have fun every time they play, they're not like most bands that seem to just play to get the job done for the night. They tend to do all kinds of things on the Rock spectrum, their latest work has a real metal edge to it, but they have softer ballads like Daydreaming. You really can't go wrong with anything they play.
Band-Maid are often considered one of the trifecta of elite Japanese rock and metal bands, along with Lovebites and Nemophila, although Band-Maid is classified as hard rock, while the other two are heavy metal. Band-Maid does occasionally toe the line toward metal, but most of their music is hard rock, prog rock, prog punk and pop punk. What really sets them apart from other hard rock bands and puts them more in the company of heavy metal bands is the sheer level of musical virtuosity. The more virtuoso musicians tend to gravitate towards metal, classical and jazz, while hard rock tends to be much more basic, with background musicians rarely standing out (there are a few exceptions, but not many). Band-Maid definitely defies that expectation! They'll be touring the US this spring. I'll be seeing them in St. Louis in late May (my second time seeing them in seven months, after seeing them back in November in Chicago).
Since you pointed out the lyrics, one of the more interesting things about BAND-MAID is that all the lyrics are written by Miku Kobato, the rhythm guitarist with the twin tails. She is just the cutest of the cutest, a crazy little ball of energy. On the flip side, she writes some of the deepest, most meaningful lyrics I've ever heard. There is a very deep, and dark side to that little pigeon. Their maid look verses the heavy music isn't the only dichotomy in the band. Maybe you should check out their latest song/video, 'Memorable'. It's beautiful ballad written for the fans about their experiences on tour in the US last year. It will give your heart a little rest before the next heavy BAND-MAID song speeds it back up.
So, you like the Maids outfits? Miku (Rhythm guitar/backing vocals) worked in a traditional Japanese Maid Cafe for a time while she was between idol groups. Thats when she decided to start her own band playing the type of music she wanted to play. So, she used the cafe style maid uniforms and a clever play on words to create Band Maid... She saw Kanami (lead guitar) online working on her own music projects. She contacted Kanami and got her onboard. Kanami knew Akane (drummer) as she worked with Kanami on some of these music projects she produced online... Well, Akane had been good friends with MISA (base player) all the way back since Music School, so she got Misa to join. Originally, Miku was going to sing lead and the band would be a four piece, but after practicing some of the songs for a while it was evident that Miku's voice was not strong enough for some of the music they were performing. So, they held auditions and with the help of their label they found Saiki to be lead singer while Miku went on to take up a backing vocal role.
Great reaction! I was lucky enough to catch them in SF last October and they are amazing Live. Their musicianship, showmanship and the overall effort they put into their concerts is second to none. They always had a goal to dominate the world through their music when they first formed in 2013 and talked about it in interviews, but they decided to declare their intention of World Domination through this song. I suggest you check out the Live version of PLAY or the Live version of FREEDOM as your next Band-Maid song. Both are fan favorites thats played in most of their concerts.
One of my favorite things nowadays - watching people discover Band-Maid for the first time! 😃 I was gonna suggest some songs for you, but you will get Plenty in the comments. And besides, they don't have any bad songs anyway. Nope, not kidding! 😎🤘
Hold on, hold on. Slow deep breaths. We don't want you to be the first victim of a Band-Maid song. You have about 140 other songs to go after this. Your reaction was a joy to behold. Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. The band members- Miku- Founder/Lyrics/Vocals/Guitar, Saiki- Lead singer, Kanami- Lead guitarist, Misa- Bass and Akane- Drums and their beautiful fans.
The usual lyricist is Kobato Miku, the lady with the red flower. For a shared lyrics composition with the lead vocalist (Atsumi Saiki), please check out Don't You Tell Me. :) Or if you're ready for a ballad, there's Daydreaming which is also a shared lyrics composition by Kobato and Atsumi. By the way, most music is composed by the lead guitarist, Tono Kanami with input by MISA, the bassist and drummer Hirose Akane. The first 3 albums, the Maids didn't have total creative control unlike now.
Since most people aren't sufficiently invested in the details of Japanese culture to be aware of the fact that the grammatically correct order of names in the Japanese language is "surname first, given name second," it can only be confusing to someone who is unaware of this fact when you simply state the names of the bad members according to Japanese grammar rather than English grammar. This poor lady might not be aware of that difference, and won't realize that Kobato, Atsumi, Hirose and Tono are their FAMILY names. (Not to mention that "Miku Kobato" and "Hirose" are stage names.)
Welcome aboard, Debbie. You are embarking on (along with many others - 170 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (125 songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/видео.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits like Sense, Glory and Unleash (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html) And many songs are represented with nearly 50 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ruclips.net/video/nAdWnIRjGak/видео.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ruclips.net/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/видео.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ruclips.net/video/-qQnKILR5u0/видео.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D²” 30+ Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinD2/videos And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 29 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 31 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 31 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 32 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 30 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. THE best Rock band in existence. Live or music videos, they are always exceptional. There are a few all-female and female-led Rock and Metal bands in Japan, apart from the 5 Rock goddesses who are Band-Maid - Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Asterism, Aldious, Hanabie to name a few.
They refer to their maid costumes as their "Battle Armor". The look is to create "the Gap" meaning the difference what you are seeing "demure maids" vs what you are hearing "Hard Rock". Miku Kobato, guitar, vocals founded the band. She went to her agency and pitched the idea and was given the go ahead. They struggled for 2 years but what was supposed to be their last MV "Thrill" was posted on Facebook. The MV got 2 million views in 2 weeks with about 45% of the views from the US and Europe. They were on their way. They are now the #1 Rock/Metal band in Japan with a Worldwide following!!!
Speaking of puzzle, Band Maid has a song called "Puzzle". The faster official live music video is really good, but the live acoustic version of the song really shows, Saiki, the lead vocalist's, ability to really convey the emotions behind the lyrics of the song. The lyrics of the song are only in Japanese. The story behind the lyrics are of a young women who had fallen in love with an older man and had seen him with his wife. Her anger, frustration, and grief from coming to the realization that he would not complete the puzzle of her life and she would not complete the puzzle of his life are heart-rending. It's a beautiful song nevertheless. Kanami Soto, the lead guitarist, also adds beautiful and haunting background vocals. Your really need to check out the song. it show how versatile the band really is.
Best band in the world. Go see them live! It is a must, they are touring the US in May and August. They have 120ish songs and they are all fantastic...it's crazy
I guess they are in dresses, though I think of them as being in modified maid outfits. MISA, the bass guitarist, has such great tone that I switched my gear from Fender to Orange. There are parallels between BAND-MAID and LOVEBITES; they're each a five piece group of Japanese women, their drummers know each other, and the roles are mostly the same. The only difference in onstage roles is that in BAND-MAID, they don't have dual guitar solos. Miku Kobato, the stage name of the rhythm guitarist and singer, doesn't do leads. There are moments where she's featured, but the leads are all done by the great Kanami "Mincho" Tono. Moreover, both LOVEBITES and BAND-MAID resulted from music careers that weren't really going anywhere. The short origin story for B-M is that Miku worked in a maid café in Tokyo, won an idol contest, and joined an idol trio called Lil Cumin. They lasted a year and didn't get anywhere, though they did use the maid image for part of their career. Miku left the group and started a band that she really wanted, a hard rock band with the maid image. Miku found Kanami on RUclips, and Kanami knew a drummer by the name of Akane Hirose. Akane knew MISA, and then the four of them found vocalist Saiki Atsumi after a short audition process. Kanami taught Miku how to play guitar during their early years as a group. Now they're in their tenth year together and are still going strong!
During the '22 US tour, Band Maid closed every concert with Domination, just to remind everyone what their plan was/is, and that's for World Domination with their music. And they are back in 2023, their 10th anniversary tour starting in Mar - Apr in Japan, then the US starting in May in Houston. They go back to Japan for a Jul string of concerts, then return to the US in Aug, hoping for more uncharted locations in the MidWest (Lollapalooza?) or West (Vegas?, HoB Anaheim?), then back to Japan for the final series of concerts, culminating with the Yokohama Arena on Turkey day weekend. 22 concerts, less the soon to be announced Aug US lineup. Welcome to the "Pigeon Hole", Po! 🦍🍌
There is just SO much talent in Japan it's unbelievable. You mentioned LoveBites, but there are just so many groups, with most of them being female bands. There are at least 20 good female bands from Japan, but Band Maid is at the top of the heap, no one compares to them in hard rock. I saw them twice on their 2022 US Tour, once in NYC and once in New Jersey. If you like Band Maid, you will LOVE Wagakki Band, a true supergroup that combines modern instruments with traditional Japanese ones to create an amazing blend. Their frontwoman, Yuko Suzuhana, is also one the the top vocalists on the planet, with only Adele close to being her equal. She also is a classically trained pianist, an expert in the traditional Japanese style of song/poetry, called shigin, and is also expert in Japanese traditional dance, including the fan (shi) and the sword (ken). She also teaches both at university in Japan. In the area of classic rock, you should check out SCANDAL, another female band that is beginning their 17th year of being together. To me, SCANDAL is what happened if the Bangles and The Go Go's had a baby with Steve Miller. There is so much music for you to check out. And I didn't even mention Nemophila or Li-sa-X Band. Enjoy all of it.
Thanks Q²! Glad you enjoyed Domination! As you have probably already figured out, Band-Maid plays a riveting style of melodic hard rock that always dazzles. The hooks and riffs will stick with you long after the song is over, and it's so well composed that you'll hear something new with every re-listen. They incorporate many styles of music -- they do ballads, they do acoustic sets, they do instrumentals -- you will never be bored. Just to give you some range: From Now On (epic instrumental); Influencer (has everything, including provocative lyrics); Catharsis (beautiful acoustic with an important message); Choose Me (infectious rock song). Bonus: they don't write bad songs.
Their goal and this song is about spreading their music to the far reaches of the world, to Unknown places, and unknown things and say HELLO, HELLO, HELLO. Just by doing this reaction you are helping to spread their music to to Unknown places to others who have not heard them before so Miku's dream of world domination, to be heard around the world may be fulfilled.
Over the last three years I have discovered Nightwish, Bandmaid, and Lovebites among others thru reaction channels. I am thoroughly getting a kick out of you discovering these bands. Keep being you and enjoying the heck out of new music. Bandmaid are fabulous and are basically their own genre.
I never watched reaction videos till I tried one with Nightwish. (I recognized the name from knowing Phantom...that was it) Now I'm addicted...lol Discovering awesome musical talent has sparked the love of music again. I'm a piano teacher and got frustrated with American pop music for 20 years...
If you go on to listen to more just be prepared that they will often make you jump at the start of a song, sometimes they just blast you in the face straight away but they can often have a soft short intro to lull you into a false sense of secruity before blasting off. However they do have a lot of mid and slow tempo songs that are equally as good to keep you calm such as :- Anemone, Awkward, Page, About Us, Start Over, Memorable, Wonderland, At The Drop Of A Hat, Daydreaming and others. Good luck and welcome to this amazing band.
You will quickly figure out that you can't find a weak song from them. They are consistently awesome. If you want to give your heart a (slower-paced) next song, I'd recommend their most recent video. It's a BALLAD. They were so blown away by the response from fans they got during their 2022 US Tour that they wrote a lovesong to their fans. It's called "Memorable." Other milestones to check out: "Thrill" (Their very first video from 2013) "Play" (Official Live) "From Now On" (An instrumental. Their most recent jammin' song) Band-Maid: Saiki - Lead Vocals Miku - Rhythm Guitar, Occasional Lead Vocals, Lyricist, Forming member of band Kanami - Lead Guitar, main music writer. MISA - Bass Akane - Drums

Hi Deb, I met you on your LoveBites reactions & now you're doing Band-Maid, God bless you !! Welcome to Japan, where all female bands are a thing & the music is phenomenal ! ❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘 PS. the Maids will be in the States in May & August & as good as they are in a MV, there even better live !
12:23 Perfectly placed pause as the guitarist you pause on, Miku Kobato, is the one who wrote the lyrics you are talking about. I can't wait. 10 more long days until the start of their 10th Anniversary Tour in Miku's hometown, Kumamoto, Japan.
Love the reaction! Band-Maid is my favorite of the ones you've heard. They have catchiest songs! This is a good one to start with. They get softer and harder than this. Their new one, Memorable, is a soft one. A ballad literally a song to the fans. Then the next new one, From Now On, is a hard instrumental. But this band has beaten out all of my old favorites for number of songs I love! By far! Looking forward to more.
It's always so much fun witnessing the birth of a brand new Maidiac!! Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the huge iceberg of musical greatness from this incredible group of ladies and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! Although, you may want to keep some heart meds handy! Some suggestions: Play, Freedom, Onset (instrumental), Real Existence - all Live, because that's when they really shine! (Best MV's: Blooming, Thrill, From Now On (instrumental), The Non-Fiction Days, Dice, Secret My Lips, Unleash) Thanks!🤘🤩🤘
Rock is said to have been born in America, raised in England, and perfected in Japan. Last year, BANDMAID successfully finished their concert across the United States with all tickets sold out. It has been decided that we will perform at a big festival in America this year as well. Please come and see it live.
I’ve seen a lot of reactions. Some emotional, some excited….you were this first I saw that almost had a genuine heart attack! Band-Maid almost caught a body on camera!! Awesome!! Can’t wait to see you do more!!
Once upon a time, a young lady named Miku Kobato (which translates to little pigeon in Japanese) was working in a maid café and had the idea to combine this visual image with rock music. She then found a young singer/songwriter named Kanami through video here on YT and invited her to join the band as the lead guitarist. As luck would have it, this guitarist knew a drummer named Akane (A-ka-neh) who she had worked with before, who in turn knew a bassist named Misa from their time together at music school. And so, magically, 4 of 5 brilliant musicians have come together.... Young Miku had originally intended to be the lead singer, but realised that her voice lacked a bit of power, so she found and lured our queen on the microphone Saiki (Sei-key) into the band, and started learning to play the guitar herself under Kanami's tutelage.... The ladies may not have known at the time that their music would have an incredible positive impact on the lives of many people around the globe, but they were destined to become one of the best rock bands of our time... So began the wonderful story of this band, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with its unchanged line-up. ✨🕊 And with that welcome to the pigeon-hole of Band-Maid and greetings from the German Maidiacs division. :) _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!'_ 」 --- *BAND-MAID* 'Manners' 🕊
There Maid outfits have evolved a little over time. Miku (rhythm guitar) and Kanami (lead Guitar) still support the typical Cafe French maid style uniform, MISA (base player) shifted to the long black Chinese inspired domestic house maid uniform. Saiki (lead singer) went for the flashier Spanish inspired Matre' d type dress. But Akane has custom designed maid outfits that are made with the open sleeves and leg room/length as to not interfere with her playing the drums. Even the red and blue flowers Miku and Saiki wear in their bonnets mean something, but I don't remember what it is at the moment.
The roses are supposed to represent their personalities. The red in Miku's denotes a more open, bubbly personality. The blue in Saiki's represents a more reserved, tsundere personality.
Ya know that reaction you just had? Breathless, elevated heart-rate, sweaty? That's EXACTLY the reaction I had almost 2 years ago when I heard The Maids for the first time. The song was "Dice" (mv) and it's AWESOME! But (and I'm being LITERAL here) ANYTHING you pick next by Band-Maid is going to make you laugh hysterically, based on your statement, "When I get that overwhelmed by music, I just start laughing". 🤣 Welcome to The Maidiacs, Deb!!!
Welcome to the Maidiacs, Deb. This was my intro to Band-Maid, so I think you did a perfect choice when you picked this one as your first. If you continue down this pigeonhole, I can guarantee more excitement and laughter. Don`t forget to breathe. Cheers from Norway.
I am also in The South and I am going to see both Band-Maid and The Warning in Daytona in May at the Welcome to Rockville festival! You need to hear more of both of them! The Warning just came out with a new live video from the same show you reacted to their song "Animosity"! It's called "Disciple". I can't wait to see your reactions to more BAND-MAID and The Warning!!
Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid. Please react to DICE next. Band-Maid's crowd participation is great, they are the masters of getting the crowd fired up. Found Band-Maid two years ago and they are now my favorite band of all times. I saw them in Tokyo in January, the best concert I've ever attended, they even topped my former favorite band Dream Theater, no small feat.
Loved your reaction 😂 much like all of us who now call ourselves Maidiacs seeing these musical unicorns for the first time , welcome to the best addiction in the world, BAND MAID will musically forearm smash you while gently stealing your heart and their talent and charisma is off the chart. Cheers from a new Aussie subscriber, enjoy your BM journey you won't be disappointed, terrified or not please do more BM 😂 Viva the Maids peace and love Po 👍🎼🥁🎸🎤🍻
Welcome to the club. These girls just rock and are probably best described as their own genre within rock. I noticed you had been given enough music to chase down the rabbit hole for awhile. Keep in mind, they will be all over the south in concert in May 2023. I ha e tickets to Atlanta, Nashville; and st. Louis. Try to catch them if they are close. They play with no opening act and the show is close to 2.5 hrs long with 18-20 songs
Another all-female metal band from Japan that doesn't get mentioned enough is Mary's Blood. Check out Marionette ruclips.net/video/MLM2unV0kwU/видео.html. Oh, and also Hagane and Aldious and Bridear and Albion and Fate Gear and Lonesome Blue and....well, you get the picture. There are so many all-female Japanese rock/metal bands. Cheers!
So glad you cleared up that you actually liked this, honestly I couldn’t tell😂lol, (also glad you didn’t get a heart attack), you’re so cute and this was a great reaction, please watch more band maid, my favorite is “choose me”❤
First you got Lovebitten and now you're about to became a Madiac, just to warn you, when you fall into the rabbit jhole of Japanese metal and heavy rock, there is no return, you're trapped forever.
"I love that they're femenine!!" is a statement we dont get to hear enough in this day and age!! Much love!! Also you reaction "sounds" are amazing! You're so jolly hehehe
If you like the female empowerment, there was a German symphonic metal band called Arven with only the drummer being male. They did 2 albums and were pretty good.
They are great. And everyone that listens to them at sometime forgets to breathe. My 3 favorite songs of theirs are Play. Moritorium and Rinnie. Enjoy. You can't pick a song of theirs and not love it.
Best rock band on the planet. Lovebites is more metal. They're both excellent but I lean towards Band Maid. By the way, hard core fans are called Maidiacs. If you want something slow and beautiful listen to ABOUT US. It's a love song written to the fans during the pandemic. I think your heart will survive and you'll really like the song too.
If you want ballads. Daydreaming, Wonderland, Page and At the drop of a Hat. Bangers…. Blooming, Warning, Manners, Play, and Don’t you tell Me are a few you will like. Instrumentals, From now on, Onset and Without holding back. For Miku lead vocals Sayonakidori the rock and acoustic versions.
MISA! MISA! MISA! Holding the Line in Solid Guitar Rock, Band Maid has picked up the Mantel of Rock'n'Roll where the West has left it behind!! More Band Maid Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po! (oh, and that part that you liked where the music dropped...they call it a 'Break' or the 'Break down' or the 'Drop'...hehe...so many words for AWESOME!!) (oh, and their dresses...since you didn't make the connection, they are "Maid" costumes...hence 'Band Maid'..LoL!!)
Funny you said it’s a Puzzle to figure out. Go watch their song Puzzle (live) for another of their sounds. They have many and they are all amazing. Also Blooming music video. Enjoy!
Band-Maid rules! So many kickass rockin' metal & rock bands coming out of Japan. Also check out Nemophila, if you don't mind a little bit of screamed vocals (you happy now, Pale Horse?) with your metal. They're pretty awesome too. Or you want to check out something different from Japan, watch Heartless Scat by Ningen-Isu. Cheers! PS...it was me who suggested this 😀(along with others, I assume...since you thanked Gordon Barton in the pinned comment haha!)
i can count on one hand the good female bands that have come out of the states and i'm going on 70 in 3 months. japan ? i'd need 3 sets of hands to count the japanese girl groups in only the last 10 years . and we are talking SERIOUS talent. not a bunch of wannabes. there's never been anything this exciting in my lifetime until now. no black leather clad tattooed posers. humble beautiful ladies that rock your face off
OMG! You are hilarious (also gorgeous)! If you're feeling down or need energy - listen to BAND-MAID and you get instant relief. My favourite rock band of all time (and I'm old) 😉🤘✌
Back in October 2022, BAND-MAID met The Warning at a festival in California. Both groups expressed an interest in touring together. Fingers crossed that happens!
Check out Real Existence (live) and Wonderland (live). All the studio recording kick ass but the live stuff really gets your blood pumping and your feet moving!
Thanx always to reacting to our favorite bands, Band-MAID and also LOVEBITES!!😄 Always living your reaction!!! You can't calm down when you're listening to BAND-MAId!!!😂Thanx again from TOKYO!!!😊🤘
Lovebites: Metal Band-Maid: Hard-rock. Ok, both groups stray from strict genre catagories, but that's a simple way to distinguish them. So, holy mother of goat's milk, you have opened the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative. You are going to get a lot of suggestions. I'm subscribing just to see you dive into this rabbit hole. Problem is most of the links get taken down pretty fast. These are a bunch that are official or unlikely to come down. First, a little background on the girls: Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 28 years old MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old Kanami Tono - Lead guitar Composer and main arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through. She envisoned the idea of a maid-band that plays hard rock and metal. She recruited Kanami, after finding a Kanami guitar cover on line; Kanami then recruited Akane, who recruited MISA. Akane and MISA had been students together at the Tokyo Music Academy. The group decided they needed more vocal “oomph”, and collectively recruited Saiki. Miku didn't know how to play guitar when they started, so Kanami has been teaching her. She's become good so fast that she is really adding to the music mix, and Maidiacs are daring to dream of a dual solo. They are that rare band that sound perfect live, even better than in the studio. metal makes you feel things that nothing else does i swear on it. if it werent for metal id be dead. the best euphoria of emotions pour through you. its like nothing else. loved the reaction. And lots of plaid wearers are metalheads. welcome to the best community in the world. :) PS - metal is made to release all the emotions you experienced throughout this. youre adorable to watch react. cheers from canada.
Japanese girl rock band 30 years ago, pop rock band princess princess hard rock band It started with SHOW-YA. And now as a professional About 30 to 50 groups of Japanese girl rock bands are major, There are about 20 professional women's hard rock bands.
Band Maid brought hard rock back to life for me (and I've been listening to rock since 1970). I refuse to put Band Maid into a "hard rock" box, though. People in reaction videos say they hear influences from many different bands in Band Maid's songs, but that just tells me Band Maid is not quite like anyone else. Band Maid is creative and fresh. They definitely have their own sound. They have almost created their own genre. Plus, Band Maid's positive vibes on stage make the experience of listening to their music all the more enjoyable. I rarely watch their studio videos. I have watched their live videos --online and on DVD--countless times.
Well now you've done gone and done it. Here's your obligatory must-react songs for BM: Freedom (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html Memorable - ruclips.net/video/DQX8BTTsHHU/видео.html Choose me - ruclips.net/video/MZIJ2vFxu9Y/видео.html From Now On - ruclips.net/video/a6ZSvmnkS00/видео.html Warning! - ruclips.net/video/9yD3IqrLtPk/видео.html Influencer - ruclips.net/video/e_bEf1C0spY/видео.html Daydreaming - ruclips.net/video/RCaeUkrItyY/видео.html
Breathe, Debbie...BREATHE!!! Awesome video, by the way. You have opened the door to Band Maid and expect their fanbase to welcome you with open arms! So much history and music to cover...I will let others do that. Suffice to say that these ladies ROCK, and they blur the lines between the different genres. I will make one recommendation. You will need a yoga/meditation session first in preparation, and then watch their MV "Don't Let Me Down" with captions on. You called them sassy...well, they add a little sauciness to their sassiness in that song. Just remember to keep breathing!
You just found Band Maid, a female hard rock band among the other female bands like Lovebites and Nemophila. Those 3 bands are get most reaction on RUclips. Band Maid is a hard rock female band, Lovebites is a power/heavy metal band and Nemophila is multiple genre rock band but sometime they can be heavy depends on what song you want to react.🤘
Band-Maid just has a way of breaking through the language barrier and winning fans. Be careful when you check out BabyMetal. Start with piano version of Monochrome and enjoy. pure bliss.
I'm not going through all the comments to see if anyone mentioned it, but you don't need to "ghost" Band-Maid videos for copyright issues. You can show them in all their wonderful glory.
Take it down a notch.....while she listens to the all female bands of J/Rock & J/Metal..... LMAO!!! LB and BM the perfect compliment, best metal band now the best rock band finally sucks you down the endless talented rabbit hole of music dominated by Japanese women. Another world class band of musicians to show you how much you miss when you stick with modern music from the record industry. Next Aldious doing dominator LIVE, Mary's Blood, Nemophila, etc. Women dominate the music academies in Japan and these women often are in bands very young and are battle tested by their early 20's, meaning they either can perform LIVE on stage or you are gone. This is the level of competition you face in Japan. Love the reaction and the Maids back story is great and how they now control their music. There is so much great music out here in the YT universe and not enough time to enjoy it all. Remember when you listen to Japanese bands.... breathe!!!!
Band Maid rocks, every song, every time, best rock band going. I’d love to see you react to Hanabie-We Love Sweets and Gacharic Spin-I Wish I or Mindset, be warned they are high energy.
A SPECIAL Thank you to Gordon Barton - Patreon SUPPORTER AND Mike Judas Priest Kalsek that requested this song/Band! Thank you SO MUCH, as you can tell...I ❤'D IT!!!! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
By the way, that "shift" is what I call Band Maid doing Band Maid things.
Glad you enjoyed it. This was my introduction to the Japanese rock and metal scene and it’s a deep rabbit hole.
Happy to see Band-Maid on your channel and I hope to see more in the future. Cheers!

Great as always 😄👍🍻
You've found a band that gets your heart pumping.👍❤
I was gonna suggest some songs for you, but you will get Plenty in the comments.
And besides, they don't have any bad songs anyway. Nope, not kidding! 😎🤘
Yup. Loving watching folks' jaws drop...
But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits like Sense, Glory and Unleash (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ruclips.net/video/7LB_EPS48HE/видео.html)
And many songs are represented with nearly 50 well produced music videos. ruclips.net/user/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:

If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo
Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.
For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009
Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

Wow, that’s a LOT of info!! Thank you so much 💙
💯% agree 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
THE best Rock band in existence. Live or music videos, they are always exceptional. There are a few all-female and female-led Rock and Metal bands in Japan, apart from the 5 Rock goddesses who are Band-Maid - Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Asterism, Aldious, Hanabie to name a few.
And TRiDENT!😁
Your reaction is pretty much how many of us felt when we first come across them. :)
Such a wonderful reaction! I listen to BAND-MAID because they bring joy to my life! Looking forward to more reactions! 🤘😎🤘
Band Maid will be touring the US in May and August. Grab some tickets if you think your heart can take it!!
(I recognized the name from knowing Phantom...that was it) Now I'm addicted...lol
Discovering awesome musical talent has sparked the love of music again.
I was looking forward to this one. I am smiling after most of their live songs 🙂And yes i was little woried about hight energy of their performances.
Nothing wrong with being a Metal Head!
I’ve been one since the early 1980’s.
It's called "Memorable."
Other milestones to check out:
"Thrill" (Their very first video from 2013)
"Play" (Official Live)
"From Now On"
(An instrumental. Their most recent jammin' song)
Band-Maid:
Saiki - Lead Vocals
Miku - Rhythm Guitar, Occasional Lead Vocals, Lyricist, Forming member of band
Kanami - Lead Guitar, main music writer.
MISA - Bass
Akane - Drums
From JAPAN ■Introducing BAND-MAID and the latest information. Thank you for reaction BAND-MAID. (^^♪
BAND-MAID is a five-member girls rock band. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and fans consider them one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 20 songs and 2 hour gig. Formed in Japan in 2013, led by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato has experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in her maid outfit. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was the first music video of 2014, reaching 2 million views in 2 weeks, and they escaped disbandment and decided to become a hard rock band. Also, they perform LIVE overseas and increase the number of fans. Now they write, compose and arrange all their songs. 130 original songs. And 47 songs have been released on the official RUclips, all of which are killer songs.
■ 10th Anniversary Concert at Tokyo Garden Theater on January 9th of this year.
They finished 2.5 hours of 26 songs and Blu-ray and DVD will be released in April.
★ They released their latest song Memorable two weeks ago.
It is a ballad song as a present for the fans who have supported them.
★ They will have a US tour in May and August of this year.
■ Official videos are often not blocked. ■
■ Hard Rock : Rinne ・DICE ・Thrill ・Unleash!!!! ・Sense ・Warning!
■ Cool Rock : Influencer ・Bubble ・Manners ・Nonfiction Days ・YOLO ・Different ・Blooming
■ Great Live : DOMINATION ・PLAY ・FREEDOM ・REAL EXISTENC ・CROSS ・CHOOSE ME

BAND MEMBER They are unique, serious, shy and cute women.
Miku Kobato : Side guitar, backing vocals, lyricist, band founder, publicist, good at cooking.
Saiki : lead vocalist and youngest, Members refer to her as teacher and make a lot of decisions. good at cooking.
Kanami : Lead guitar, composer (prolific genius), good at piano. hobby is reading. good at making sweets.
Akane : Drummer, good at funny faces, big eater. loves anime. She has many friends. enjoy learning how to cook.
Misa : Bassist, playing with bare feet. She is the most shy and reticent. she is good at cooking (^^♪
They refer to their outfits as armor and our Maid's always battle hard. Welcome to BAND-MAID.
Hey that's great Lonnie. Deb seems really cool & you can't fake that sort of exuberance :)
That part where it changed up is called a 'breakdown'. Welcome to the Maidiacs!
These girls are the real deal. So much talent on that stage.
(Best MV's: Blooming, Thrill, From Now On (instrumental), The Non-Fiction Days, Dice, Secret My Lips, Unleash)
Thanks!🤘🤩🤘
Rock is said to have been born in America, raised in England, and perfected in Japan. Last year, BANDMAID successfully finished their concert across the United States with all tickets sold out. It has been decided that we will perform at a big festival in America this year as well. Please come and see it live.
Great reaction! Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. Am looking forward to more Band-Maid content.
I’ve seen a lot of reactions. Some emotional, some excited….you were this first I saw that almost had a genuine heart attack! Band-Maid almost caught a body on camera!! Awesome!! Can’t wait to see you do more!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
And with that welcome to the pigeon-hole of Band-Maid and greetings from the German Maidiacs division. :)

「 _'Our rock never dies ever.
Love your reaction ✨🥰🤘
It was a fun reaction, thank you. You are their fan. You have many friends, so please join us in honoring the maids
Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid.
"This is like Lovebites but it freakens ROCKS" says what Band Maid is all about PO!!!!! WORLD DOMINATION PO!!!!!
These girls are a lotta fun!
Cheers!
Saved it. Thank you!
Don't know where you live, but they are doing quick US tours in May and August. There may be tickets still available.....
So glad you cleared up that you actually liked this, honestly I couldn’t tell😂lol, (also glad you didn’t get a heart attack), you’re so cute and this was a great reaction, please watch more band maid, my favorite is “choose me”❤
Thank you, Brian! I know… I really need to work on expressing how I feel… And also not dying 😂
Just watched a video that said metalheads are the happiest people in the world.
I believe it!!
Welcome to the fandom. I suggest these songs: Thrill, Dice, Bubble, Manners, No God (live) & Warning (live)
Thank you so much. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I’m glad you did too 💙
If you like the female empowerment, there was a German symphonic metal band called Arven with only the drummer being male.
Metal head Debbie. Energy is what metal is all about.
And breath !!!! There is much more to this metal stuff .
I have been listening since 1975/6
If you want ballads.
Po!
(oh, and that part that you liked where the music dropped...they call it a 'Break' or the 'Break down' or the 'Drop'...hehe...so many words for AWESOME!!)
(oh, and their dresses...since you didn't make the connection, they are "Maid" costumes...hence 'Band Maid'..LoL!!)
My only request is to turn the volume up on the music you are reacting to. Have a great day and keep them coming !
Thank you so much, Mike! I edited my pinned comment and added YOU. Thank you, this was SO MUCH FUN!! Even though I almost died 14 times lol
i can count on one hand the good female bands that have come out of the states and i'm going on 70 in 3 months. japan ? i'd need 3 sets of hands to count the japanese girl groups in only the last 10 years . and we are talking SERIOUS talent. not a bunch of wannabes. there's never been anything this exciting in my lifetime until now. no black leather clad tattooed posers. humble beautiful ladies that rock your face off
…rock your face off! Well said!
LOL ! loved your reaction. I think you better watch their latest song 'memorable' next. it's a ballad :)
Welcome to Band-Maid Deb!
OMG! You are hilarious (also gorgeous)! If you're feeling down or need energy - listen to BAND-MAID and you get instant relief. My favourite rock band of all time (and I'm old) 😉🤘✌
Thank you so much 💙🥰❤️
Band-Maid is a phenomenal band, over 120 songs of awesomeness. This is a good starter song, but hold on :).Thanks for the reaction!
welcome
Seen both Band-Maid and Nemophila live. Just super talented ladies, really some of the best players around today. Also, check out BabyMetal.
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 Badass Bass Assassin and the best Hard Rock band in the world right now 🤙🏼
Back in October 2022, BAND-MAID met The Warning at a festival in California. Both groups expressed an interest in touring together. Fingers crossed that happens!
That would be insane!
@@thequestionqueens search for "Band-Maid meets Warning" for 20 seconds of the coolest meetup ever recorded on video 🤘
Check out Real Existence (live) and Wonderland (live). All the studio recording kick ass but the live stuff really gets your blood pumping and your feet moving!
And "Gosh My Oh" trends across the planet! Stay safe. All the best to you.
(Hang a spare 'watch' on your mike) 👍🌹
Thanx always to reacting to our favorite bands, Band-MAID and also LOVEBITES!!😄 Always living your reaction!!! You can't calm down when you're listening to BAND-MAId!!!😂Thanx again from TOKYO!!!😊🤘
😂😂😂🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
Lovebites: Metal Band-Maid: Hard-rock. Ok, both groups stray from strict genre catagories, but that's a simple way to distinguish them.
So, holy mother of goat's milk, you have opened the floodgates. Why do you love this? Because they may be the best rock group in the world today (I think they are). They are certainly the most creative.
You are going to get a lot of suggestions. I'm subscribing just to see you dive into this rabbit hole. Problem is most of the links get taken down pretty fast. These are a bunch that are official or unlikely to come down. First, a little background on the girls:
Saiki Atsumi - Lead vocals Born Feb 8, 1994 28 years old
MISA - Bass Born Oct 15, 1992 30 years old
Kanami Tono - Lead guitar Composer and main arranger Born Sept 28, 1991 31 years old
Miku Kobato - Rhythm guitar, backing vocal Born Oct 21, 1991 31 years old
Akane Hirose - Drums Born Dec 14, 1990 32 years old
Miku was working in a Maid Café after being in an idol group that didn’t break through.

His Holiness TinyHat-san welcomes you to the Unseen World that is BAND-MAID as you join them on their quest for World Domination.
Beautiful reaction. Congratulations for finding the best current band. Next song… any song, but maybe check Freedom live MV. Thx 👍👍
Japanese girl rock band
pop rock band
princess princess
hard rock band
It started with SHOW-YA.
And now
as a professional
About 30 to 50 groups of Japanese girl rock bands are major,
There are about 20 professional women's hard rock bands.
Love your reaction ♥️
Well now you've done gone and done it. Here's your obligatory must-react songs for BM:
Freedom (2020 Live) - ruclips.net/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/видео.html

Welcome to the land of the Maidiacs. 😁 BTW, Band Maid and tears aren't untypical. Just enjoy.
Welcome to the pigeon nest!! Enjoy your ride gurl 🤟🤟 top 3 bands... a trifecta. BAND MAID LOVEBITES. NEMOPHILA 👍 👍 🤟🔥🐺🦧🍌🙏
"plaid people don't like metal" 😄
plaid-maids
Just based on YT reactors, the Scots seem to especially love the 'maids 😃
Band Maid is rock not just metal. They do pop rock, ballads and hard rock. Lovebites does just Metal.
Remember when you listen to Japanese bands.... breathe!!!!
I think I totally failed in taking it down a notch 😂 it was so flipping awesome I couldn’t help myself!!
Band Maid rocks, every song, every time, best rock band going. I’d love to see you react to Hanabie-We Love Sweets and Gacharic Spin-I Wish I or Mindset, be warned they are high energy.
