In an interview here on RUclips Saiki and Miku indicated that they intersperse English for two reasons 1) people in Japan think it's cool, 2) it helps reach out to the English-speaking audience and keep them engaged.
Jimmy Page visited Japan before the pandemic and saw a Band Maid show and was so impressed, he insisted on meeting the drummer backstage. There is a picture you can find if you search it online.
MISA is playing a five-string Black Smoker bass from Black Cloud. She uses Orange and is the bass guitarist who convinced me to switch my amp and cab from Fender to Orange. Miku plays Zemaitis guitars and uses I believe EVH, and Kanami plays a few different PRS guitars and uses Mesa Boogie. They've stated that they deliberately write small bits of easy English into some of their songs so that audiences the world over can sing along when they're played live.
Ooh cool. I didn't know you played.👍 What's also genius about Miku incorporating English into the songs is that she deliberately works on the phrasing so that it doesn't sound disjointed from the rest of the song :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Yep, I'm 43 now and have been playing bass since I was 13 or 14 and guitar since I was 18. I played the drums as well, but I didn't take it as seriously and stopped once I developed arthritis in my shoulders.
Just want to point out that this song was the 22nd song of a 23 song performance, amazing energy and stamina! Band-Maid brings joy in every song, keep it coming!
A thing about the maid outfits, Nick & Lex: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working. Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
Mainly the reason Miku decided to start Band-Maid is because one day while working at a maid cafe she thought it would be cool if girls dressed as maids made cool music and it yes would create the "gap" or contrast between the two and that would be new and exciting and she was right. Her plan was to be the signer and rythem guitar player even tho she didn't know how to play guitar at the time so Kanami taught her and she realized her singing wasn't "cool" enough so they hired Saiki.
@@TomClark-Futoura I'm sure if they do make it big then in the future like a couple decades I think it would make for an interesting movie, especially focusing on Miku and her whole idea and plan to take over the world like the Beatles did. But only time will tell that tale.
Show Lex "Freedom", known for it's drum solo. Jimmy Page saw them in Tokyo, and went backstage to get a picture with Akane, the drummer. The band was started by Miku, the rhythm guitarist / vocalist, who was the lead vocalist in the beginning. She didn't play guitar until she moved to backup vocalist when they added Saiki on lead vocals. Miku used to work in a "maid cafe", where the waitresses dress up as maids. The drummer recruited Misa, the bassist, who she went to music school with. I think the lead guitarist, Kanami, writes the music. Also show her the other female bassist from my "Road to the Himalayas" request. Then there is the Lovebites "Swan Song" which starts out with Miyako, the dark haired guitarist playing the Chopin Revolutionary Etude on the piano.
Nice reaction. They consider themselves to be a hard rock band but do incorporate some metal elements. Right before this song...they performed Play. There is an official live video for that. It is another crowd pleaser and really highlights the bass.
My favorite band in the world and Akane is one of the most amazing drummers I have ever seen! I am a 70 year old jazz fusion prog rock drummer and she constantly amazes me. The combination of Akane and Misa is one of the most amazing rhythm sections on the planet. They have a HUGE catalog of wonderful songs. Only 3 months 8 days until they come to Phoenix and I finally get to see them live!!!!
Exactly! No bad songs! “No God” has to be in the first 4 or 5 songs they hear - Misa’s bass virtuosity in that one (and Manners/Black Hole) is otherworldly!! Lex’s head will dang-near explode 🤯 I’m certain. How she pulls those 3 songs off - how?!?! 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼
BAND-MAID are the very essence of their own ethos. E.g they give you an awesome feel good feeling all the time, every time with their killer brand of Hard Rock Heaven :)
@@GaryHolloway-810 Decided what I'm wearing to Band Maid. The classic " I'm a Madiac" But underneath. " Is My Tramp Stamp" I'm going to a tattoo artist and I'm getting a fake one that looks real. Anyone wants to see it. They gotta pay. Money or whiskey! I'd get a real one. But a tattoo above my ass Is something I won't do even for the Maids. Unless one of them personally told me to. Well then PO!😏😊🤣
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 When Band-Maid announced in February their US tour schedule starting on Oct. 9, 2022, I was pleased with the news but, at the same time, a little bit disappointed due to blank schedule in Japan. Then pre-US tour in Japan was announced on April 1. I am now a happy ticket holder of B-M's concert in Tokyo on Sep.7 😄
@@rickwagner- Thanks. You are going to enjoy two shows including one on Misa's birthday. It sounds special! My second O-kuji will be ... Ta-dah! I have got a ticket to their big show on Jan. 9 next year 💛
@@flugelhornoldman1362 Very good. TOKYO GARDEN THEATER OKYUJI should be amazing. I'm glad you can help them get "revenge" for the cancelled show at Budokan.
@@rickwagner- It is Band-Maid who is helping me being patient of absence of another BM. Two kinds of joys are now making my life at this age colorful.😄
This is BAND-MAID. As consistent and melodic and powerful and FUN a Rock band as you will find. MISA, with her 5 string Black Cloud, is affectionately known as the barefoot assassin because she performs in her bare feet and slays everything she plays. I will suggest PLAY-LIVE and ONSET-LIVE which is a Rock instrumental that needs to be seen to be believed. Also, there is a 2fer1 from an Online concert without an audience called MANNERS/BLACK HOLE which will show the diversity of the band, from the groovy bluesy MANNERS to the controlled chaos and madness of BLACK HOLE. As Awesome as BAND-MAID is the more you listen and watch them the more Awesome they become. Peace 42.8
Another killer bass tune is “No God” “Manners / Black Hole” - official live video - probably the best next video for NicknLex, I think. It gives them a true classic rock masterclass in Manners, followed by the incredible, unbelievable Black Hole - what other band would write two such diametrically opposed song-types - and then pull both of them off live so powerfully & perfectly - in a virtual online concert setting - just remarkable! Gives me goosebumps every time 🔥🔥 plus I think it gives both Nick and Lex something unique to experience that will suit each’s taste preferences. Rock On 🤘🏼
@@bobespirit2112 As much as I love their Live with audience vids, I can't stop watching the Manners/Black Hole vid. It's become my favorite. I really don't think they miss a beat in Black Hole and the vocals/2nd vocals/harmonies are out of this world for that kind of song. And that was the next to last song in the concert. Talk about synergy and trusting each other. 😎
Guys I love that you are getting to Band-Maid. I have been listening to rock music for 50 years and I have to say that they have impressed me more than any other band. Their songs are brilliantly written and also catchy as hell. I have honestly never heard a song from them that I didn’t like. That being said, I also much prefer their official live videos. “Manners/ Black Hole” gives a good contrast of some of their stiles. One last thing, I forget what they call it but when they gather around Akane the drummer, they are playing a game of trying to get her to make a mistake. Never happens !
Good job!!. Very nice reaction. Fantastic that you shared it between the two of you. They are mainly a hard rock band, but they trip far to the edges frequently. Their songwriting uses to blend all styles of rock music so you will find difficult to classify them. I use to say they are jazz in the drums, funk in the bass, rock in their guitars and pop in their vocals. Thank you!, a lot of fun.
Hi guys, this band is new to me and the 2nd time [ on here ] I have seen them. I have to say the production values of the soundstage + video is top notch. They must have paid a lot for such excellent quality with this live concert. I've seen a lot of live concerts on video/dvd and this is superb, especially the editing. Great reaction. Would love to see a ballad by this group. Byeee Jim X
Oddly enough Domination is from the Line Cube Shibuya show and has the worst audio quality of their live releases, others being Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and Zepp Tokyo 2018. The issue with the Line Cube recording is that the guitars are very muffled, Real Existence which was the first one Nick reacted to was from Zepp. If and when you get the chance to see the other two I am sure you will notice the massive jump in quality. They did up the production levels for these concerts for sure as they were being recorded for DVD, Studio Coast being my favourite.Oh and ballads, lets say rather than ballads they have a wealth of slow to mid tempo songs some of which may be called ballads for want of a better description such as Daydreaming, About Us, Page, Smile, Wonderland, Start Over, Endless Story, Anemone and Awkward.
This is their Signature LIVE song. Another signature song is "Daydreaming".... official music video. Band-Maid always delivers the goods. Best rock band going.
Manners is superb, but I just can't imagine Black Hole being Lex's kind of thing really. It might even be a stretch for Nick! If they want to do Band-Maid reactions more regularly, I think Nick and Lex might most enjoy Band-Maid's earlier material in the first instance, such as Choose Me, Puzzle, Alone etc.
@@ben_dornie oh I think they’ll both dig Black Hole. It may take a couple listens but they’ll get it, I think. Nick will definitely be intrigued with the guitar work and Lex will die for Misa’s bass playing and sound. I think it’s worth the chance - Manners is a sure thing! Rock On 🤘🏼
Miku was working in a maidcafe, when she had the idea to build a rock band where the girls are dressed as maids. She wanted the gap between cuteness and rockmusic. Nothing to do with marketing. And yes, this band is not casted, they found together by themself....a miracle, like she later said. The most of them are multinstrumentalists some of them from a music school, Kanami the lead guitarist is a classical trained pianist and did also compose classic music...and guess what, she is composing now the songs for the band.😄
Miku went into a meeting with management where they discussed her future after her Lil Cumin group failed to take off. She mentioned that she was interested in "cool music" (not specifically hard rock) and maids. She was encouraged to combine the two interests and put together a band. Fans like to downplay managements contribution and pretend it was exclusively Miku's idea, but that's how she described the events early on in BAND-MAID's career.
When they gather around the drummer, they are pulling faces at her to distract her. She doesn't miss a beat, but pulls faces back at them. If you watch "Play" or "Freedom" (official live videos) you can see the drummer briefly pulling faces at the others. I think they do this so the drummer doesn't feel isolated at the back of the stage. And they have a great mutual bond.
Great reaction! 👍 If you want to keep it going with them, I'd recommend "Play". It's from this same show and it's an awesome song, I'm sure you'll love it! 😊
I prefer the more recent video of "Play" that the band put up on youtube. Miku gets a bit more to do this time around, and they get a lot more crowd interaction. ruclips.net/video/3LxX_t4vg7U/видео.html

Difficult.. Progress.. Courage.. Evolution.. Clever' and a few bars later your hear Miku singing her 'Ah ah ah ah' in descending notes. Just magic!
Someone outkicked their coverage. ;-) Good for you! Thank you for trying out BAND-MAID. This is a special band. So many bands are merely doing variations on a theme; and though they do it very well, imho they lack the creative courage of Band-Maid, in many ways. They show up to be “a metal band” or a “prog-rock band” or a “pop-punk band” etc and that immediately limits them creativity. Band-Maid has the courage to start every song with a blank sheet of paper 📄. Other than writing songs they can and will perform live - it seems to me they are putting fewer and fewer, if any, limitations on their songwriting. They do acoustic songs, acoustic arrangements live of songs, metal songs, soft rock songs, mainstream rock, Blues-based rock and Hard rock, pop songs, etc. They’re increasingly incorporating a wider and wider sound palette with jazz elements like horn samples (a couple of them play some horns), jazzy piano (Kanami plays), synth keys, even classical music 🎶 My recommendations for next songs: - “No God” - official live video - Misa’s bass is otherworldly in a pop-punk/prog-rock/Motörhead-esque song - “Manners / Black Hole” - more great bass while showcasing a wide range of rock music influence - a absolute masterclass in modern rock with a nod to 70’s - “Onset” - official live- instrumental beauty - “Without Holding Back” - official MV - step up in level from Onset - “Rinne” - official MV - heavy - “Blooming” - official MV - another masterclass Lots more after that! Rock On 🤘🏼
After enjoying so many of your reactions to classic rock songs that I grew up with it is just awesome seeing you react to these ladies. They are now my favorite band because they are just so much fun! And of course because they're freaking awesome!!
If Lex likes prog and classic rock (I thought you guys said that in a Lovebites reax), she MUST see Bandmaid’s live video “Manners/Black Hole.” Two songs: Manners is funky rock like 70s Aerosmith, and Black Hole is prog speed metal with MELODY. Really.
I'm so excited to see you guys finally getting to Band Maid! They are becoming my favorite bad! Next you must listen to Freedom and Play, the official live versions of both! Freedoms features Akane doing a wonderful and impressive drum solo and Play give Misa, the bassist a chsnce to really shine. There's so much more, but those two will be a great start! I got my tix to see them live this coming October in Los Angeles! Keep an coming. Oh, and I love you two! Your a lucky man, dude!! #nicknlexrequest
THE best Rock band in existence. The only thing they're incapable of is making a bad song. Japan is producing the Rock and Metal for the 21st century. 4:20 - The ladies are around the drummer because they are playing Hengao (strange faces), what we would probably call Funny Faces or gurning, in an attempt to put Akane the drummer off her beat.. It shows their confidence in each others' abilities - and of course she doesn't miss a beat!
The part where Misa (Bassist), Miku (Rhythm) and Konami (Lead) are up on the drums, they are making faces at Akane (Drummer) to try and break her beat. The synergy between them is absolutely amazing. Misa is also known as the barefoot assassin. lol She can switch from slap to picking so fast that you would miss it. There was a part where they showed her hands mid switch. And you want to talk about versatility... Check out Manners/Black Hole live. And then I would suggest Daydreaming for a ballad. One of my favorites from them is Blooming.
Nice reaction you two. I usually don't like couple reactions because the reactors spend more time on each other than the music. You were great. So, I think of these girls as punk and metal influenced hard rock with pop vocals. The best of everything from the past 50+ years. Check out something recent next. I bet both of you would enjoy Blooming.
I'll never get sick of the smiles on peoples' faces when they discover my favorite band for the first time. I'd classify Band-Maid as a hard rock band with heavy pop-punk elements, but they branch out into a dozen other genres, sometimes in the same song. There's really not a bad track in their entire catalogue, can't wait to see what you react to next!
Saiki is like a dominatrix, she demands that the crowd respond to her commands. Saiki and MISA are the ones dressed in Gothic. Actually when the group began they all wore similar outfits, then as time went on Saiki and MISA turned Gothic on us. Most often MISA and Kanami are doing their solos at the same time. As usual Band-Maid is Jimmy Page approved!
He spoke with the drummer Akane and took a picture with her, at the Classic Rock Awards in 2016 when Band-Maid was awarded “Japan Next Generation” prize. They played a 5 or 6 song set, I believe, and word is Jimmy really like Akane’s playing and asked to speak with her.
I hope that eventually you will get round to Puzzle, probably the song that a large proportion of fans would pick as their number 1 but only if they were told they could never listen to Band Maid again if they didn't make a choice. Puzzle becomes even more staggering if you follow it with the acoustic version, preferably with Anemone, although they come with a health warning, they are very emotional which is a heck of an achievement when you don't understand the language (live versions in all cases obviously). A bit of a theme with Band maid is there are often multiple versions, studio, live (often with added intros and solos), acoustic and then their alter ego Band Maiko, just one more thing that makes this band so listenable.
This song is very much a mix of metal and rock. A lot of their other stuff, their best stuff I'd say, is far more rock (and more punk and more pop ftm), but this is a fairly mixed blend of both.
Band-Maid is my favorite but there's so many great bands there! Many types too. I recommend Polkadot Stingray -alt pop, Glim Spanky-classic rock blues, BRATS-hard rock, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra -ska, Ado-hard to describe lol.
just the tip of the Band Maid iceberg. Band Maid is Phenomenal Live. so many great songs. just push play and listen. You can't go wrong with Band Maid. for MV. try Blooming or Choose Me for starters. for live. try Puzzle and Don't Tell Me. but in reality Band Maid is such a Phenomenal Band that anything you listen to is Amazing in its own way. Welcome to the Maidiacs Club. Come in and Listen to one of the Greatest Bands to come in a Very Long Time. if you want to hear how phenomenally talented Saiki's voice is try acoustic songs Puzzle Anemone or Wonderland or About Us just to name a couple
The Maids are Awesome......but Beware of their Charm or you'll soon be a Maidiac, fortunately the penalty is a Big Smile and an almost uncontrollable urge to listen to another song!!......So I recommend for your next listen a song called, " Play. " ❤🎙🎸🥁😎👌
I don't know if you have done NEMOPHILA yet but they are a very attractive band but heavier than BAND-MAID and definitely punk metal but they do lots of covers as well that are also very popular and quite often reacted to. I like their cover of Maximum of the Hormone because the drummer has her toddler in the video as she drums her brains out. She also has a baby and NEMOPHILA has a song called life congratulating her on her baby and welcoming her back and assuring her that she is an important part of the band . It's a very hairy band and in the live version of Oiran it's on full display. There should probably be a hair care advertisement half way through the song. Anyway I wanted to make sure that you knew about them because they are the other all girl Japanese band. That is to say NEMOPHILA and BAND-MAID are the best Japan has to offer. The BAND-MAID song Blooming has some great guitar and drums and is a great film.clip . Dice is probably their catchiest song but their earlier songs are pretty popular still . FREEZER and SHAKE THAT and well almost everything really . PinD does photo collages for the early songs that don't have film clips and Dorian is great as well. BAND-MAID interviews are great because they are all completely nuts. ( did you know that the rythem guitarist thinks that she's a pigeon? It's true and that's just the start) BAND-MAID are so entertaining on every level and have about 120 songs so I hope you will enjoy your BAND-MAID experience.
@@GaryHolloway-810 I watch a lot of history and heaps of other things but I do enjoy connecting the dots. Nemophila have just touched down in America and I think Nemophila and BAND-MAID not supporting each other is a missed opportunity but hopefully they will sell out. I think BAND-MAID has already sold out.
Nah, they certainly aren't the best Japan has to offer. None of the female bands are on that level yet. Only shows that you have no idea when it comes to Japanese music.
Bass - Misa = Steve Harris Drums - Akane = John Bonham Guitar - Kanami = Eddie Van Halen there are 3 prodigies in this band, their talent is enormous, as many Rock lovers say, this is the best band of the last 40 years. when they listen to songs like Manners, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming or Real Existence, they will realize it.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu But It's very truth that Kanami is a fan of Eddie's work. However, like you wrote, MISA has a completely different bass playstyle from Steve Harris
@@2abug I have no doubt that she is a fan of EVH, I don't know many guitarists who aren't, but I just don't hear enough similarities in tone or style between the two to say "Kanami = Eddie." I don't get the "Onset" reference either aside from Kanami tapping throughout most of it, but I've probably heard several hundred guitarists tap in my lifetime. It's not like it's a difficult technique to learn.
Hard rock? Heavy metal? Sometimes I think it’s either heavy rock or hard metal. Then I remember the correct genre type: Band-Maid. Great react: my suggestions for next is either Warning MV or Different MV. Then do a live video like Play or Onset. Can’t go wrong with any of our suggestions.
Great reaction guys! You'll def love their track Freedom as well! For a new group request, please check out Li-sa-X Band, a project by Li-sa-X who's a 17 yo Japanese guitar prodigy! A nice reaction! Good Job. I should have filmed my 1st reaction to your reaction as I've never come across your channel before. You might try these 2 additional BM videos: Freedom (Official Live Video) and Onset (Official Live Video). Onset is an instrumental.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-maid. Many Japanese band and artists including English within their songs. Have you ever react to the Japanese band name Scandal? I can give you some suggestions and links for Scandal songs.
They're playing a sold out tour (maybe one show left for tickets) of the US in October so that should be good for them. Hopefully not long from now they'll be filling stadiums.
They've announced that 10 of the shows have sold out. Aftershock is a festival, but the other 13 shows are headliners. The New Jersey concert at AMERICAN DREAM still has general admission tickets available. Also still a few left for Houston and DC.
I am late to the comments, although i have watched your reaction about 6 times (I have also shared this reaction to a few Band Maid facebook fan pages). I wanted to point out that the girls gathering around the drummer is not anything like Iron Maiden, (that I know of). What these ladies were gathering around Akane ( the drummer) for was to make funny and silly faces at her to see if they can get her to laugh and distract her to see if she will mess up and make a mistake. Watch it again and yo will see Misa the bass player's goofy face that she is making at her. Lol. Once again a stellar reaction. You probably will not see this comment.
Add these Band Maid songs to your playlist : Moratorium, Don't You Tell Me, Play, Take Me Higher, Puzzle (both the Live and Live Acoustic versions), Blooming, Warning, Dice, Anemone (both the studio and Live Acoustic versions), Manners, Bubble, No God, Freedom, Secret My Lips, Secret Maiko Lips, Gion Cho, Real Existence, just to name a few.

You'd probably like either their jazzy sounding "Wonderland" live or their Band-Maiko song "Gion-Cho", both from their YT channel. Both songs are a bit of a creative extension from their normal hard-rock sound. This is a great band with a lot of great song in their rather large catalog.
They're perhaps not as young as you think - they're all around 30 years old, give or take (around 27 at the time of this video). They've been together for 9 years.
Great reaction guys. Can we have some Rush live please? Can't recall you doing any Rush live yet? Maybe Freewill, The Camera Eye or Working Man from the Time Machine tour Cleveland 2011. Great audio and stage set. They also do the whole moving pictures album live during this concert!
All this female Japanese Bands, BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, NEMOPHILA, HANABIE, TRIDENT-JAPAN, ASTERISM(female guitarist) they will make your jaw dropped....
dear Nick and Lex! Greetings from Shizuoka City under the benign care of Mount Fuji! You probably realized you have opened the trap door into a rabbit hole with no end in view! Some major commentators have already zeroed you such as Tom Clark, Gary Holloway and BM 4 Life! Be sure more will come and be around your neck until you exhausted this unfathomable gold mine! LOL It is nigh impossible to suggest anything as this is a rare band without a single bad song/filler or what else for the simple reason that Kanami (lead composer and composer), Misa (bass) and Akane (drums) have either undergone a very long classical or jazz education. Lyrics are mostly written by Miku, the real leader of the band (she actually created it). Saiki is an unconventional singer for a Japanese lady as she can run for very low notes to falsetto without a hitch. Individually, one might always find a better artist, but as a group they simply have no equal on the rock scene, although they are very capable of metal and acoustic guitar ballads/love songs. Their typical live concert is built on 22~25 songs with almost no break, although they never do encores. Usually their live concerts are even better than official videos with a few exceptions. My humble suggestion would be (in any order) -Instrumental: ONSET (Iive i Japan) and Don't Be Long (Live in Dallas) -Ballad: Daydreaming (video version for once), SMILE (online concert) -Acoustic: ANEMONE (live version) -Hard rock/metal: WARNING (Video version) -Live rock: Turn Me On,, Freedom (Akane's drum solo!), That is for a start, but you will never see the end as they churn out one album a year, all songs different in genres, and they will be on tour in August in Japan (more love videos), put a new album on sale, and go onto a massive tour in the Us in October (more live videos)! Mata ne/又ね! A bientot! Best regards, Robert-Gilles (Robert-Gilles Martineau)
Band Maid is hands down my favorite rock band today. Japan is full and I mean full of great bands. Nemophila is my #2 metal band today and is also Japanese and are awesome, their new single Adabana is a must watch. I cannot wait to see the Maids this fall as they are a monster live band.
I wish you could listen to drum isolated tracks of some of their songs. It's a completely different experience where you see how melodic, creative and versatile her drum compositions are. Bandmaid combine so many different elements seemlessly and you often don't pick all these elements and details on first listen.
Great reaction guys! I hope to see more BAND-MAID on your channel (I recommend the songs Warning!, Dice, Rinne or pretty much any other song from their HUGE catalog)! I also recommend Nemophila (especially their last song, Adabana). More metal than BAND-MAID and more modern than Lovebites in sound, but certainly a feast for the ears!
What I think is the Maids' best work, "Puzzle", a song about a fractured romance from the viewpoint of the jilted partner. The acoustic version from the Zepp show in 2018 is a lament... ruclips.net/video/ayJtzPkgZTc/видео.html The full up electric version is something ELSE entirely... ruclips.net/video/zvuqmSQEnaA/видео.html
11:11 yes they're look so young but not that young, as we know asian don't raisin. both guitarist and drummer already reach 30, bassist and vocalist both in their late 20s. it's their 9 years in the industry as a band so yeah they know what their doing.
Using English lyrics, and just English text in general, is pretty common in Japan. I've seen posters well off the tourist train, that have been entirely in English. Many bands, even tiny bands, write songs with English lyrics. They certainly would be too small to have included them with an eye on the international market. It's just something seen as 'cool'. I guess. The presence of English lyrics or not doesn't seem to have any impact on these bands internationally.
Hi from the UK 👋 🇬🇧 something you might like to check out the band is called Nightwish it's a symphonic metal band from Finland with a Dutch singer floor jansen ( the vakyrie) This band has a massive following in Europe and the Internet the go to song to start your Nightwish journey down the rabbit hole that is Nightwish Nightwish ghost love score wacken open air concert 2013 and prepare for the Nightwish army arriving at the door 🚪 lol 😄
Flip (* Fl!p *) were solid rock and very creative. The lead singer/writer came across as ferocious, IMHO. When management said they needed to go more pop, they put on one more hard rock concert and then disbanded. I have mad respect for them doing that. Wish we had more from them though. If I were rich, that's a band I'd want to invest in.
I have no idea what you mean by that, but you are deluded if you think that they are or have been marketed fundamentally any different to any other rock band or frankly any other artist ever. They have got where they are by doing it the old school way, starting off playing in bars and small clubs, every festival that they had the opportunity to play at, building up a following and then blowing up when their first MV was posted on facebook by JRock Radio. Subsequently relentless touring in Japan with some overseas tours, releasing more or less an album a year since 2014 at least 4 of which are now amongst my favourites of all time alongside my Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Cream and Free albums.
That's quite right ... but that "someone" is the founding member of the band, rythm guitar and second singer Miku Kobato. While working at a maid cafe to pay for her singing lessons and living in the expensive Tokyo, she came with the idea of a band that would rock hard while keeping her work outfits. Not really different than Angus Young decision to keep his schoolboy outfit on stage.
He told Akane she sounded like the reincarnation of John Bonham.
MISA is now using Aguilar amp equipment.
I wish it was possible to watch a concert with Rush and Band Maid...great reaction. Enjoy your Band Maid journey!!!
Just want to point out that this song was the 22nd song of a 23 song performance, amazing energy and stamina! Band-Maid brings joy in every song, keep it coming!
What was the 23rd song?
@@davidgilman3230 Endless Story.
In my opinion the best ROCK and ROLL band in the world at this time.
Awesome comment, Tom. I also consider B-M to be the best Hard Rock band in the world. Don't forget about me, here i am.🙋♂️⬅️
@@GaryHolloway-810 I could no longer forget about you than I could forget where I put my keys. Hey, btw... have you seen my keys? 🤣
@@kyles5513 One day, their story has got to be made into a movie!
Next suggested Band-Maid:
1. Manners/Black Hole
2. Onset (instrumental 🔥)
3. Warning (music Video)
4. Anything else in their channel

Peace 42.8
Excellent hints for guitar and bass players :-)
Another killer bass tune is “No God”
“Manners / Black Hole” - official live video - probably the best next video for NicknLex, I think.
I agree: Manners and Black Hole live, with subtitles!

It's called Hengao , the art of making strange faces, we would call it gurning.
Band-Maid son la mejor banda actualmente. Muchas gracias por la excelente reacción. Thx 💪🤙
I love Band Maid. Girls rock!!!! Watch their live video for "Manners/Black Hole". Amazing.
Miku - when she was known as Mika - also used the maid image in the idol trio she was in, Lil Cumin.
If you want to keep it going with them, I'd recommend "Play". It's from this same show and it's an awesome song, I'm sure you'll love it! 😊
I prefer the more recent video of "Play" that the band put up on youtube. Miku gets a bit more to do this time around, and they get a lot more crowd interaction.

They’re increasingly incorporating a wider and wider sound palette with jazz elements like horn samples (a couple of them play some horns), jazzy piano (Kanami plays), synth keys, even classical music 🎶
My recommendations for next songs:
- “No God” - official live video - Misa’s bass is otherworldly in a pop-punk/prog-rock/Motörhead-esque song
- “Manners / Black Hole” - more great bass while showcasing a wide range of rock music influence - a absolute masterclass in modern rock with a nod to 70’s
- “Onset” - official live- instrumental beauty
- “Without Holding Back” - official MV - step up in level from Onset
- “Rinne” - official MV - heavy
- “Blooming” - official MV - another masterclass
Lots more after that!
Rock On 🤘🏼

Even though I like Love Bites a little better, I have to say, that both bands bring something new and fresh to the rock/metal scene ....
If you like BAND-MAID..then you'll also like BAND-MAIKO.
You lie. No way Band-Maiko is as good.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

They've announced that 10 of the shows have sold out. Aftershock is a festival, but the other 13 shows are headliners.
The New Jersey concert at AMERICAN DREAM still has general admission tickets available.
Also still a few left for Houston and DC.
@@rickwagner- is that right? I was just going off my mediocre research. That's right on then, thanks for the update bud.
Thank you for pointing that out and for your kind, supportive words!! ❤️ - Lex
@@NicknLex the pleasure is mine. Cheers.
Oh those crazy Japanese rock bands. So cool!
Kate the Netflix movie had a scene with Band-Maid on stage!
Your YT channel intro (flourescent neon-light & sound logo) has the similar look & theme of the Netflix assassin movie, Kate (2021) which features Band-Maid performing their song, "Choose Me". Definitely check that out along with "Dice" and "Alone".
BAND-MAID | FROM NOW ON
MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin , from same concert songs Freedom , n Play .
Miku’s gift. They are the best.
Time for some more Band Maid, po!

I looked for you 9 days ago & you weren't here so i've come back to say "Congrats on the shout out".👍 Shocking behaviour that no one else has.😮
@@GaryHolloway-810 Thanks Gary!
To me it sounded more like metal, because of the double kick, the "speedy" rather than melodic solos, etc.
If you love this performance, you're gonna love checking out their songs. Freedom, Manners, Blooming, Dice, Moratorium, Onset, just name a few.
Their genre is BAND MAID.
dear Nick and Lex!
LOL
It is nigh impossible to suggest anything as this is a rare band without a single bad song/filler or what else for the simple reason that Kanami (lead composer and composer), Misa (bass) and Akane (drums) have either undergone a very long classical or jazz education.
My humble suggestion would be (in any order)
-Instrumental: ONSET (Iive i Japan) and Don't Be Long (Live in Dallas)
-Ballad: Daydreaming (video version for once), SMILE (online concert)
-Acoustic: ANEMONE (live version)
-Hard rock/metal: WARNING (Video version)
-Live rock: Turn Me On,, Freedom (Akane's drum solo!),
That is for a start, but you will never see the end as they churn out one album a year, all songs different in genres, and they will be on tour in August in Japan (more love videos), put a new album on sale, and go onto a massive tour in the Us in October (more live videos)!
Mata ne/又ね! A bientot!
Best regards,
Robert-Gilles (Robert-Gilles Martineau)
In Japan English is used to draw attention, emphasize something, or just to sound cool.

Hi, I enjoyed your video. That's great. Thank you🎁💞😆
Dice MV would be a good choice for more Misa (Bass)
They are well diverse and dynamically good... I recommend to react manners and black hole 2 song in 1 mv this show thier versatility in music
MISA is (most) probably one of the 10 best bassist alive today.
Watch the MANNERS + BLACK HOLE live video (two very different songs for the price of one)
When they gather around the drummer they are making faces at her, trying to get her to mess up
What I think is the Maids' best work, "Puzzle", a song about a fractured romance from the viewpoint of the jilted partner. The acoustic version from the Zepp show in 2018 is a lament... ruclips.net/video/ayJtzPkgZTc/видео.html
The full up electric version is something ELSE entirely... ruclips.net/video/zvuqmSQEnaA/видео.html
Que onda mundooo.muy buena .reaccion, como siempre..🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
11:11 yes they're look so young but not that young, as we know asian don't raisin. both guitarist and drummer already reach 30, bassist and vocalist both in their late 20s. it's their 9 years in the industry as a band so yeah they know what their doing.
Hahaha raisin!!
You told you gonna show it to your wife and you did: Ehrenmann! Grüße aus Deutschland
They incorporate English because often the English words have a better flow in the song than Japanese.
Hi from the UK 👋 🇬🇧 something you might like to check out the band is called Nightwish it's a symphonic metal band from Finland with a Dutch singer floor jansen ( the vakyrie) This band has a massive following in Europe and the Internet the go to song to start your Nightwish journey down the rabbit hole that is Nightwish

The band flip the song butterfly live from the liquid room in Scotland would be nice
Hard Rock
Someone did a really good marketing job when it comes to this band.
The maid idea came from Miku, rhythm guitar and backup vocals. They have the musical chops and write most of their own songs (including this one).
The marketing genius was Miku the rhythm guitarist. Not bad for a pigeon.
Po!!
