This song was the last one written for their Unseen World album. The concept was to make a song that was a bridge between the early Band-Maid sound and their current direction. Band-Maid always writes the music and melodies first, and Miku adds lyrics that she thinks go with the music. I'm not sure how common this is, but it seems unusual to me. So Kanami is free to dream up whatever she wants with no constraints, and she's seemingly endlessly creative.
I think in the May _Player_ interview, they said "No God" was pretty much the only song where Kanami had requested a particular lyrical subject. (The downbeat nature of Mincho's own attempts at writing lyrics seems to be a source of some mirth among the band.)
Kanami’s work ethic is almost frightening. She adds more than a dozen new riffs to her files every day and writes at least one new song each week. Saiki says Mincho writes heavy when she’s stressed. Considering the totality of “Unseen World” I am amazed by this woman.
These women are a Japanese national treasure, creative, musically gifted, they have no overpowering ego's ( no Yoko's either) They are just so good! I admire them so much as they have found and used some secret formula lost to the rest of us mere mortals! So glad I found them, got to believe that all the rest of the internet fans are saying the same.
After Warning maybe "Blooming" (MV) or "Real Existence" (Live) or a beautiful slower song "Day Dreaming" (MV) or an earlier pop-punk song "Alone" (MV) .

I heard "Manners" right after it dropped on RUclips, it fed this old Hard Bluesy Rock (Is that a genre?) lovers soul in a way it hasn't been fed in a long time. Each time the chorus comes around, it just gets better and better. After "Manners" and "Warning!" I knew the "Unseen World" album was something special. BTW Clutch! 🤘😎🤘
Manners is my favorite,too,followed by Turn Me On and Dice. Another reviewer,Chase Carneson,pointed how brave Band-Maid was with Manners; they performed 4 distinctive riffs which could have been used for 4 songs. They chose not to be lazy. He's a musician like you and gives awesome reviews,pointing out much detail. I really like your reviews of them,as well. You're quite talented,as I saw when you included a small clip of you on the guitar. I look forward to your next Band-Maid review.
Agree. Turn me on is a great straight forward rocker that's a lot of fun and let's Kanami get her wah wah on Unfortunately, it doesn't get a lot of play since they took down the live video.
Manners is probably my favorite BM song, as an old school groove hard rock type guy myself. My favorite Band Maid is when they ride that line between groove oriented hard rock and metal. I don't know why The Dragon Cries gets so much grief from many BM fans, it's a great song. Maybe many BM fans just arn't used to songs that don't jump into a major key for the chorus lol. My only complain with TDC is I don't know why Visconti had to drown everything in so much reverb. Some of Saikis best vocals though, although Saiki's vocals in Manners might be my overall favorite, especially her part towards the end where the instrumentation is leaving a lot of space behind her.

If there’s ever 5 women that deserve super stardom,it’s these 5 wonderful musicians. Really remarkable and deserve all of the spoils that come with success. Just need to convince the US mainstream that The Maids are the real deal. Hopefully it’s just a matter of time...the more that see them perform live,the more appreciation they should receive.
This track is a great example of their wide array of their musical pallet. Their world class level musicianship has allowed them the freedom to incorporate the best elements of Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, Metal, Funk, Punk and Pop to form into a track that is familiar yet unique with their own signature. Band-Maid and MISA have pushed the Bass guitar forwards as something more than a bridge between the drums and lead guitar. The band are a perfect storm no wonder Miku is excited by the future.
Until I discovered Band-Maid, Clutch was my go to...🤔...not sayin' that I still don't love Clutch(I've got tickets to see them in August), but these ladies have changed the way I listen/approach music!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

Honestly, this is the kind of music I ike the most of them. This is also the reason, why I like the two previous albums more than Unseen World, although I get more and more used to the songs. But my real Love is Rock with good guitar riffs and a good voice, like they did before.

lol indeed. I think I've replayed the section of "Play ( official live video)" from 45 seconds to 50 seconds ( when Misa starts the band back in after the call and response with Miku) about a billion times because as a musician it's amazing how tight Misa, Akane, and Kanami are in that little spot.
This song makes me nostalgic and comfortable.Any smell of town and the scenery I saw when I was a kid. It makes me remember that. I really love this song.

You nailed that one, Ryan! I feel the same way about this song, it being far and away my favorite off of their new album (which is saying something). I've had bands melt my face off, but Saiki's vocals alone in that last bit where she was getting nasty would melt my face off just by themselves. This song (well, again nothing new for BM), puts a big fan grin on my face after hundreds of listens and I strongly suspect always will. My only request would have been double or triple the length of that guitar solo, but hey...
A great "old school" feel interpreted in a new way! Only BAND MAID can do this, there are other bands that have virtuosos and amazing song writers, but few have such mastery of the medium in every role, this is a once in a lifetime band putting out some great music! BAND MAID forever.

Variety is the name of the game with Band Maid. It is impossible to get bored with their music. They are always looking for something new while keeping that hard rock, heavy metal base. And they are more interested in what their fans want than any other band I know of. Remarkable. To add if anyone criticizes their music it is mostly because they only want them to play one kind of song. Sorry...it ain't gonna happen.
They combine so many genres and excel at all of them. Beautiful and amazing!!! My favorite Band Maid song is whichever one I am listening to at the moment. No other band compares to them!!!
I love Clutch. Been listening to them since the 90s when I first heard A Shogun Named Marcus back whan it was released. Still a favorite of mine. Also really like A Quick Death In Texas. But they have a lot of really good stuff. I've always loved southern blues rock. Old ZZ Top is some fantastic blues rock too.

Yeah, band maid are extremely sound technically, and blah blah blah... But what sets them aside is that they really GROOVE as a band. Manners is also one of my favorite songs. Unseen World, for that matter, is my favorite BM album. it has everything, from a grooove masterpiece like "manners" to sheer insanity like "Giovanni" or"black hole"... All it's missing is a ballad, and they released one shortly after... So I consider it part of the album :) You want to hear insanity? listen to the instrumental version of Giovanni. Band-maid recipes are very addictive. Ingredients are not always the same, but always cooked just right, with the right mix with embellishments on top of it, leaving this irresistible aftertaste. (But of course not for everyone cos there are people who are allergic to some ingredients...lol)
I went through months of new favorite songs, but I think Manners (Helter Skelter on bass steroids) No God and Black Hole, all so different, all incredible. What this band is doing is just awe inspiring ! by the way, love the channel Ryan :)

For sure this song when it dropped jumped up on my favorite song list... Such a damn good song. Reminds me of that classic 70s groove rock sound. I listened to this song for like 2 hours straight when it dropped. i love all their songs, some of my favorites are Puzzle, Wonderland, Clang, Daydreaming, Take me Higher, etc. ... You may have noticed by now that their MVs often have little "Easter Eggs" or "In jokes" with the fans. Akane eating, Kaname gushing on Saiki, Miku and a pigeon (or dove). Misa drinking, etc. ;) Look for them and you'll notice its a recurring theme that I think illustrates their strong relationship with their fans and simply fantastic personalities.

Five consumate musicians, the best rhythm section anywhere ,great singer, genius composer who writes rock but in much more complex musical forms. Unmatched. @@RyanMear yes, Miku could not play any instruments when she started recruiting the girls. Miku originally wanted Saiki to have a guitar as a prop, because it would look better. Saiki said she only wanted to sing, so Miku had to carry the guitar instead. In the beginning she only did a cord now and then, but now she plays for real 😄

Kanami is her guitar Sensei, and she says the speed in which Miku has progressed, she needs to step up her own game so that she does not stagnate. Miku is still nervous whenever Kanami tells her to show her progress. Miku said she would rather perform in front of thousands of people, than performing under the inspecting eye of Kanami 😂

There is a band version and an acoustic version (sung by Kanami and Saiki), and we recommend listening to them continuously. Both are killer.
FYI, Miku Kobato, the founder of Band-Maid, didn’t know how to play a single note on guitar when she formed the band! Kanami, Miku’s Sensei, taught her to play and she’s an incredible guitarist now!

"Hard Bluesy Rock" is a genre that goes all the way back to Sabbath, and earlier. Maybe the original Hard Rock genre. :)

Love this song. If Band-Maid would go back and forth between this type of song and No God/Warning type song, I'd be the happiest camper.

Band-Maid and MISA have pushed the Bass guitar forwards as something more than a bridge between the drums and lead guitar. The band are a perfect storm no wonder Miku is excited by the future.

@@RyanMear I have a few of Clutche's older albums, the rest on Spotify. Have you heard of William Elliott Whitmore? He opened for Clutch a few years back, very unique voice. Check out Hell or High Water, Mutiny, or Johnny Law. He's more folksy. 👍👍🤘🤘🤘

Honestly, this is the kind of music I ike the most of them. This is also the reason, why I like the two previous albums more than Unseen World, although I get more and more used to the songs.
But my real Love is Rock with good guitar riffs and a good voice, like they did before.

lol indeed. I think I've replayed the section of "Play ( official live video)" from 45 seconds to 50 seconds ( when Misa starts the band back in after the call and response with Miku) about a billion times because as a musician it's amazing how tight Misa, Akane, and Kanami are in that little spot.
This song makes me nostalgic and comfortable.Any smell of town and the scenery I saw when I was a kid. It makes me remember that.

You nailed that one, Ryan! I feel the same way about this song, it being far and away my favorite off of their new album (which is saying something). I've had bands melt my face off, but Saiki's vocals alone in that last bit where she was getting nasty would melt my face off just by themselves. This song (well, again nothing new for BM), puts a big fan grin on my face after hundreds of listens and I strongly suspect always will. My only request would have been double or triple the length of that guitar solo, but hey...
A great "old school" feel interpreted in a new way! Only BAND MAID can do this, there are other bands that have virtuosos and amazing song writers, but few have such mastery of the medium in every role, this is a once in a lifetime band putting out some great music! BAND MAID forever.

Variety is the name of the game with Band Maid. It is impossible to get bored with their music. They are always looking for something new while keeping that hard rock, heavy metal base. And they are more interested in what their fans want than any other band I know of. Remarkable. To add if anyone criticizes their music it is mostly because they only want them to play one kind of song. Sorry...it ain't gonna happen.

They combine so many genres and excel at all of them. Beautiful and amazing!!! My favorite Band Maid song is whichever one I am listening to at the moment. No other band compares to them!!!
I love Clutch. Been listening to them since the 90s when I first heard A Shogun Named Marcus back whan it was released. Still a favorite of mine. Also really like A Quick Death In Texas. But they have a lot of really good stuff. I've always loved southern blues rock. Old ZZ Top is some fantastic blues rock too.
I think Rising Sun may be my favorite.

Yeah, band maid are extremely sound technically, and blah blah blah... But what sets them aside is that they really GROOVE as a band. Manners is also one of my favorite songs.
Unseen World, for that matter, is my favorite BM album. it has everything, from a grooove masterpiece like "manners" to sheer insanity like "Giovanni" or"black hole"... All it's missing is a ballad, and they released one shortly after... So I consider it part of the album :)

Band-maid recipes are very addictive. Ingredients are not always the same, but always cooked just right, with the right mix with embellishments on top of it, leaving this irresistible aftertaste. (But of course not for everyone cos there are people who are allergic to some ingredients...lol)
I went through months of new favorite songs, but I think Manners (Helter Skelter on bass steroids) No God and Black Hole, all so different, all incredible. What this band is doing is just awe inspiring ! by the way, love the channel Ryan :)

Thanks for doing this pearl! This song has climbed to the top of my list. It has so much cool little details from each musicians, while it is a damn great in general too. Just loving it.
You may have noticed by now that their MVs often have little "Easter Eggs" or "In jokes" with the fans. Akane eating, Kaname gushing on Saiki, Miku and a pigeon (or dove). Misa drinking, etc. ;) Look for them and you'll notice its a recurring theme that I think illustrates their strong relationship with their fans and simply fantastic personalities.

So hard to call out on thing over another in this song as there are just so many moments of HOLY SHIT. But yeah, Saiki's vocals are on point here. Respect tp Clutch but Band Maid is the very best in the world. This is the tip of the iceberg. Five consumate musicians, the best rhythm section anywhere ,great singer, genius composer who writes rock but in much more complex musical forms. Unmatched. Perfection every time and their live shows are legendary.

@@RyanMear yes, Miku could not play any instruments when she started recruiting the girls. Miku originally wanted Saiki to have a guitar as a prop, because it would look better. Saiki said she only wanted to sing, so Miku had to carry the guitar instead. In the beginning she only did a cord now and then, but now she plays for real 😄
I did catch an earlier video where she is clearly wearing a Rickenbacher as a prop.
@@RyanMear that's Thrill! She has come a long way since then. Kanami is her guitar Sensei, and she says the speed in which Miku has progressed, she needs to step up her own game so that she does not stagnate. Miku is still nervous whenever Kanami tells her to show her progress. Miku said she would rather perform in front of thousands of people, than performing under the inspecting eye of Kanami 😂

FYI, Miku Kobato, the founder of Band-Maid, didn’t know how to play a single note on guitar when she formed the band! Kanami, Miku’s Sensei, taught her to play and she’s an incredible guitarist now!
