  • We had so much fun watching Predator. Nothing screams 80's action like a group of sweaty men in a jungle unloading bullets into the jungle!!!

23:40 It wasn't a different trap, it was the weight of the spike trap. :)

One of the greatest classics of all time. The Predator was played by a man named Kevin Peter Hall. Look him up, he played in some great movies like Predator, Predator 2 and Harry and the Hendersons.

As others have mentioned, the Predator was played by Kevin Peter Hall. He was a GIANT, and a hell of a cool dude. He also played Harry in Harry and The Henderson's. A comedy about a family camping trip where they find Bigfoot and bring him home to the suburbs. Fun family movie. In the early 1990s, Kevin Peter Hall was in a bad car crash and was rushed to the hospital. During surgery he was accidentally given contaminated blood and passed away. RIP Kevin Peter Hall

The log was actually the counter weight for the rope vines to pull predator up into the spikes.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was supposed to play the Predator but he was replaced by Kevin Peter Hall. He was 7'3" and was also in the second movie. He passed away at 35. He also playe Harry in Harry and the Hendersons.

19:20 😂 lol Hamlet. That was good, man. "To hunt, or not to hunt, that is the question." 💀
21:00 I think I'm with you. I think I'd probably also be more afraid of this thing than a xenomorph. Both would be scary as hell, though.

Regarding the mud… It depends on how long he’s been covered with mud. If the mud was only recently applied and still cold, it would definitely work pretty well (except for portions of his body that remained uncovered).
Since, on the other hand, he slathered himself with mud and it dried that night, the mud would probably have equilibrated with the body temperature, in which case it wouldn't really do much.
What do you think? Loving the discussion below!

      @xenomorph2056 2 года назад

Funny enough, the Mythbusters tested that theory, and yep...it actually only takes a matter of minutes to equalize temperature. Cool concept, but not quite the right approach....

The mud doesn't need to cool him down, just change the infrared frequency.
When the film was made they tried, at first, to use an infrared camera, but it didn't work because the place was so hot that everything was a red blur. Like the Predator's sight without the helmet. However, it's not all exactly the same temperature. If they had a camera with more advanced technology and software that highlights specific frequencies they could make people visible in the footage. That's exactly what the predator's equipment does: it selects some specific frequencies. A mud cover has the effect of refracting the electromagnetic radiation that passes through it, changing the frequency and therefore masking his presence.

maybe it's just that the mud is a texture that cover the alien sight and got nothing to do with just the heat.

Covering yourself in mud will actually block your heat signature for a few minutes but leaving it on for more then like 5-10 minutes it doesn’t work anymore

Up till now you've probably noticed a pattern in the way Predators/Yautja take trophies. Most of the time they will skin their opponents. However, if their "prey" puts up a worthy fight, especially if they choose to fight hand-to-hand, if a Predator defeats such an opponent, they will keep their skull (and sometimes their spinal column as well) as a trophy, which they will mount in a personal trophy room.

My #1 Favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie!
Facts you didn't know about the movie:
Jean Claude van Damme played the Predator in some parts of the movie, but quit production as he was tired of wearing the original suit which looked like a lizard insect hybrid.
He even wanted to kickbox Arnold but the producers refused.
Kevin Peter Hall, RIP, was cast as the titular character as he was more of an intimidating opponent for Arnold's character Dutch, being 7'2".
The PREDATOR suit was designed by Stan Winston Studios, and they would later return to the franchise for PREDATOR 2 in 1990.
Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Arnold and Director McTiernan whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches.
Schwarzenegger would later hire his own personal Chef to give the actors the food they needed.
The special effects team built an AC unit inside the suit to cool Hall down and prevent him from passing out.
It was 110 degrees in the shade while it was 42 degrees at night.
It rained for 2 weeks making filming even more difficult.
It made $100 million dollars ($360 million dollars today) against an $18 million dollar budget.
It's now considered to be one of the greatest action movies ever made.
It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to InnerSpace.

Love that you're reacting to the rest of the films in the Predator franchise, but please watch the first two Alien movies before you watch Predator 2, as (tiny spoiler alert) Predator 2 has a very important Easter Egg that sets up the crossover between the two franchises: Aliens Vs Predator.
