Film description: Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

So Charles can read Hank's mind well enough to know he is a mutant, but not well enough to know he is a closeted one?
It's young Charles, he's not quite aware of how many mutants truly are there around (he hasn't linked with Cerebro yet) and meeting another one makes him excited and act before thinking. Plus as this is the "mutant division" he would've assumed even quicker that it's alright.
Just because he can enter a mind, dosen't mean he just gets all the information in a tidy box. It's been shown numerous times, especially with trying to help mutants with trauma that he has to dig, and dig to try and find the true roots of how to help them and every factor thats at play for them. This was clearly one where he sensed immediately he was dealing with a mutant mind, but obviously didn't dig deep as he didn't know Hank hadn't actually told anyone in Charles own excitement. As this predates cerebro and charles knowing how many mutants there really are.
Charles is a very powerful telepath but not a very fast one.
@@Otto500206 Like in Babylon 5 how the telepaths can easily read surface thoughts, but a deeper scan is needed for more.

Magneto didn't want to embarrass him but he was laughing his ass off silently when he found out that hands for feet was his power.
Until Beast gave Magneto a choking reception later on.
nah, you clearly don’t know magneto. He was impressed. Remember he even mentioned later in the movie that if he looked like mystique or beast, he wouldn’t want to change it.
When Charles said Hank is an Mutant., Hank was like WTF 😂

Hardly surprising - Charles just outed him. Which makes Hank's reference to the eventually implemented US military policy of 'don't ask, don't tell' law all the more potent.

I think Raven was so seemingly enamored by Hank's mutation because it's a physical mutation like hers, she sympathized with his struggle...and yknow...what they say about guys with big (hands for) feet.

Of all these so-so movies, the scene where Charles outed Beast instantly was one of the best moments in an X-Man movie. It just set the tone for their lifelong friendship off the bat how contrite Charles was about it.

...Yes. That is literally the point of the scene. Charles casually scanning Hank's mind like he's reading a dossier, even plucking out the mutant part because it seemed topical, then only realizing after reading the CIA boy's mind that "Whoops, that was a secret."

The X-Men have been stand-ins for marginalized groups since their inception, that includes LGBTQ+ people.
X2 literally has a scene where Ice Man has to "come out" to his parents as a mutant, and his mother asks if he's tried "not being a mutant." It's not a subtle metaphor, why are you complaining about literally one line in this movie?
