The deer seemed like a waste of meat even for Southern deer sizes, anyone know If she would normally have grown much bigger in weight If he would have went for another deer ?
7mm-08 is a as very underrated rifle caliber. I have no idea why so many over look it. Meat on the ground in a late season hunt. Congratulations.
I've been an ought six advocate for years. I love the Sierra 165 gr HPBT gameking bullet over a stout charge of 4350.
When my boys started hunting I bought them a Savage Axis 2 in 7mm-08. I hate to admit it but I believe it is about the perfect whitetail rifle. Short, light, easy to shoot, plenty of power and uses about 20 less grains of powder per shot. Still love and use my ol' ought six but when the kids don't go that 7mm-08 finds it way to my deer stand more often than not.

7mm/08 and 260 Remington have preformed better on Whitetail than any other round that I have tried. And I have tried basically all of the popular cartridges in my over fifty years of dear hunting.
And that is exactly why I love this round. I've had many deer fall this exact way. Out to 200 even. Congratulations on ur deer. Great meat for the freezer

@@jedermachtigallmighty7345 me? No I never went on any safaris. Stuck to whitetail, mulies, pheasant, turkey, grouse/chukar/quail/prairie chicken, and coyotes. Coincidentally, the last coyote I bagged was with my 7-08 just outside belle fourche, sd. Folded him up at just under 200 yards.

Btw..... there is a nerve bundle that runs through the neck to the front shoulder. High shoulder on a deer with most calibers has that effect. Heart and lungs they usually run but not too far. High shoulder it’s like a switch is flipped.
I've been hunting with the Remington model 7 in 7mm-08 it's light weight and very accurate. And I use the same round you use.
I had look at getting one a couple of years ago, but melt holding off. I do love the model 7’s I have, but I want one in stainless and have no 7mm-08. But I’ve been looking on gunbroker this week, can’t hardly find any model 7’s and they have gotten high.
Told ya that 7.08 was a fantastic hunting caliber for deer and more !

My favorite rifle of all that I own is a .275 Rigby or a 7x57. It has nearly identical ballistics as the 7mm08. I have taken the two largest elk I have ever harvested with it. I believe the 7mm bullet is a superior diameter to fulfil all my hunting needs. It really likes the 139-140 grain bullets even though I have been trying to convince it to like the 154's. I do load my own.
Man that 7 MM 08 did a really good job and acted like a 30-30. Congratulations on the meat
I love my 7mm-08! I've taken a doe at 274yds, ran 10 yds and dropped dead using 144gr Browning BXR bullet. The next year, 368yds got my buck using 150gr Hornady ELD-X bullet. Same thing, ran about 10 yds and dropped. 2 years later, 425yds, pronghorn doe, dropped just like your doe did here right where I shot her, using 139gr SST.
Have shot 3 deer with the exact same gun in 7-08. All 3 of mine did the same thing yours did - dropped where they stood and expired quickly. The American is an excellent gun for the $$ - and deer don't seem to stand a chance with the 7-08. Very efficient combination for whitetail and possibly larger game.

Sweet buddy ,nice shot .Im a big 7mm fan . I shoot a 280 Remington with 140 grn.Nosler ballistic tip reloads. The 140 corelok is my go to if I don’t have my reloads for some terrible reason . Great to see you take that doe that was awesome . Help to fill the freezer for shure . Happy New year and again awsome shot and a sweet caliber and rifle !

It’s old tech but I still think Remington core lokt is still the best white tail medicine out there for any caliber.

I took a nice 7 pt buck this past season with my 7mm-08 Tikka T3X 22.4” barrel using Hornady 139 grain American Whitetail Interlock at 162 yards , it did the exact same thing, dumped him right there on the spot.
Such an efficient cartridge it achieves optimal performance and efficiency even in shorter 20” barrels , it excels well .
7mm-08 is such an underrated and overlooked cartridge, but that’s ok because it just makes more ammo available for me to buy 😁

Excellent shot. You don't realize how far 139 yards is when looking through a scope. When hunters used to rely on good ole iron sights for putting food on the table, it must have been really hard.
That's when you actually had to hunt. Old eyes weren'your friend for sure
You should do a video of a 30-06 150 grain bullet vs a 180 grain bullet, I prefer the 150 i think it comes out quite a bit faster
Dropped my very first deer with a 7mm-08 in a Remington model 7 youth, a redfield widefield scope and those same core-lokt bullets. A nice 7 point. Dropped like a rock. Taken a lot of deer with it since. Only thing that's changed is the scope got wrecked about two years ago and got replaced with a Leupold. Considering it lasted 25+ years of rough use I was okay with that.

7-08 is to a 270 what a 308 is to a 30-06, basically identical ballistics in a half inch shorter shell. Awsome round, great shooting. 👍🇺🇸🇦🇺👍

350 Legend works best in thick woods were distances are short. All of the fields are crammed with hunters, but not as many in the thick stuff.

I have a 30-06 and a 6.5 Creedmoor but am looking for a lighter weight rifle for hunting that there are heavy bullet cartridges available like the Nosler partitions and Corelokts that are usually available at Walmart. Just an observation. You have your dope on your stock in MRADS/Mils and you sighted in doing math for a 1/4 MOA scope. Might have been why the adjustments were not as close as you predicted.
