Lyrics
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Oh, breathe, just breathe

No auto-tune, no mixers, no stabilizers, no bullshyt... just raw talent and a mic. Why is Anna Nalick not more popular? Because she is a REAL artist and the music industry wants FAKE pop stars.
Why isn't this woman more famous?! She's a brilliant writer/songstress not to mention damn easy on the eyes. What else is there?
Some selfish rich guy took her away..
the problem is people always make slutty ass shaking girls mainstream famous. what a shame. this girl is better than Beyonce and madonna and who've r the fuck u wanna say.
Stack of Pancakes umm.... She was a folk singer, and pop ruined her. She sings better in folk but people wanted her to sing pop so she tried and I guess it ruined her :(
Cuz the system would kill her
@@pagefire2 ill take her away anytime
"Life is like an hourglass glued to the table."
so beautiful written!
"2 AM and I'm still awake writing this song, if I get all down on paper, it's no longer inside of me threating the life it belongs too."
And you're right, I used these words however I want to.
@@leadwithlove7657 Your just as far in as you'll ever be out...
In 2006 I deployed to Afghanistan. On the commercial flight from the States to Kuwait, this song was on rotation in the in flight music. Her voice helped keep me calm and almost warm inside. For some reason it helped me concentrate on eternal things and helped keep my mind on prayer and Christ. She was right that we will use this song however we want to.
Thanks man, In early 2003 I was on a C130, you could hear yourself breathing it was so quite everyone scared, the crew chief had a small walkman playing a song that I had heard several times but had never really paid any attention, to day I know all of the words often sing it in the shower much to the wifes dismay and can play it on bass, guitar and piano... Always wondered if anyone else had an experience similar to that in a time of stress. The young lady singing, I had never heard of till today, great voice, good song writer and easy on the eyes - just think 3 years earlier and you could have had Elton John
The played Metalica on our flight. lol
Listening in 2024 and it still hits the same like it did in 2005. Core song for me.
One of the most beautiful songs ever.
Thank u donna rose as anna
The whole album
Beautiful and with reality.

This song always comes back to me at the right time in my life. I never really look it up willingly, simply ‘cause I never really think about it. But like a superhero, it always swoops in to save me from going too deep inside the dark pits of my mind. I’ll hear it on the radio, or the intercom in a store. This time my school played it while I was suffocating within myself, and it’s been calming me down since.
This is why I love music.
dont you just love that synchronicity
The song title is "Breathe" but when I hear it I can't breathe, so I know how you feel. Stay strong, you got this...
Several years ago my right leg had to amputated above the knee. After a couple days in the hospital I went to a rehab facility for a week. During one session I fell down and as I was trying to get up my stump suddenly cramped and spasmed terrible. As I fought the excruciating pain I guess I forgot to breathe. In the background I heard my therapist say breathe, breathe, BREATHE! Through the pain I thought of this song.
I love this song. Not only is it wonderfully done, but I've always felt a very close personal connection to it's lyrics. It came out not long after I was discharged from the military, depression and alcoholism having made me unfit for active duty. By the time this song came out I had been an alcoholic since my 21st birthday (in October) at Fort Bliss. My life was in shambles and I really needed the message to just stop and breathe
allnightfalling, from the lover/caregiver pov it was my go to as well. Sadly my (OIF I & III) 19D punched his ticket. Despite all his efforts the VA pulled him off a 6-combo prescription cocktail (that took us several years to find the perfect mix & gave him only Zoloft) after both his psychologist & psychiatrist retired months apart.
It kind of pisses me off to see all the TV show soundtrack references in the comments. As this song literally once was more meaningful to military/veteran homes/lives.
Thank you for leaving your comment. I feel less alone & am glad to see someone else possesses similar sentimental values with this song.
Stay busy & keep your head up, always. 💙
Praying for you
Some songs hit so close to home that sometimes its chilling!
I truly hope that you are doing well!!!
I'd cry if I knew how to any more.
@@ChrisWMF Get up! You can!
Ryan Reynolds is amazing on guitar in this video!!
This was the soundtrack to the saddest moment in my life. It was playing in the hall in the vet's office when I had to go and have my beloved baby boy put down. Really struck me that I was listening to "breathe just breathe" waiting for him to stop. Now I listen to it when I need a good cry.
Been there, done that...hardest thing I've ever had to do...
No one cares
Anna, reminds me of a cross between Jewel and Alanis Morissette with those beautiful mixtures this has to be a smash, love her she is so Humble, long after she has grown away from the spotlight.
My favorite sing by her ever.💕❣️🤘🏻
Great analogy!
No show or movie brought me here! This is just the kind of song that everybody knows the beautiful music, but nobody knows the beautiful name of it. It's the kind of song that's just always been in the back of your head, but you don't know how it got there.
This song is absolutely positively beautiful.
this song is so therapeutic. cuz its depressing, but true with lyrics like
"Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button" And its nice to hear someone else telling u they've been through it and there's nothing u can do..so just breathe and it'll all be ok..
Wow she actually sounds good live. That's more than what you can say about most artists.
Been wondering for over a decade why she never made the jump to superstar, brilliant voice, beautiful - seemed to be just a matter of time..
I'm so glad I was able to remember the name of the song, because I had heard it once on the radio a few years ago, but they didn't give her name. I finally searched for it by the title, and came up with more than one person. I listened to each of them, and recognized the one I was looking for by her beautiful voice. Thank God I wasn't having a total "senior moment", lol. Love this song! I grew up with classic rock, but I have heard other music that is really worth listening to as well. Some of my friends suggested other artists that I might like. They know me well, because they've never steered me wrong!! 😎
First song I learned to play. I was, and am still madly in love with this beautiful woman. The way this is written is amazing. I love the flow of the words.
Grey's still forever the best series!!
What a beautiful song!!!
I remember when this first came out. I was in middle school and it got so much VH1 air-play; they would play so much. And that's the main reason why I started liking it so much and actually voting for in their charts. I just recently discovered Grey's Anatomy and during season 2 they play this. It felt so good to hear this again. I know it took the show to remind me, but I don't care. The song had a place in my heart before, and it will always.
lifes like a hour glass glued to the table
Lexie on Grey's...God that scene made me cry like hell. This song is amazing
This is the first song I heard, when getting into my car, after my mother was declared brain dead. Hence my newest tattoo...which says, "Just breathe" on my wrist with a fleur di lis
you're awesome, stay strong...I'm sorry about your mom, my mother had a stroke and passed within 24 hours.
I’m giving y’all a hug.
it is our mom.
@katiejayne I just got the same one it. It says just breathe with dandelions flying into the air.
Ohmy
She's so pretty and I love her voice.
+Marissa McHugh Agreed.
Such a beautiful song.
Thanks "Grey's Anatomy" for making me listen such a beautiful song!
This song helped me through some rough alcoholic shit. I love Anna Nalick.
"And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd because these words are my diary screaming out loud"
I love this song. And Anna Nalcik. She's so talented!
This is one of the songs that truly inspires me. I can really really relate to it. I love it!
I got to see Anna for the first time barely over a year ago. She's helped me with so much❤
Such a great album a few years ago and she showed so much promise..then she just disappeared. She has way too much talent to not make it big.
I was lucky enough to see her in concert in San Franciso a few years ago when she was supporting the "Wreck of the Day" album....a great album, by the way.
Come back, Anna.
Please God, help me turn around! 🙏
I'm using these words just like I want to!
THIS video was uploaded in 2009. The single was released in '04.
Whatever happened to her? She was insanely talented. Just simple, emotional, lyrics. An amazing voice that needed no autotune. She's everything you could want in an artist.
She had a fall out with her label and they never let her release her second album. I know she independently released an album last year but I don’t know anything else. I think she’s still in legal fights with Sony Music.
still around lots of great music
Regardless of how i found this song, the original is certainly underrated 🥂🥂
what a beatiful song,....
I've known about her since her album was first released. Love her so much. Listen to Anna's music everyday. :)
FN Awesome!!! Best version ever!!! Wonderful Song! Hugs!
this song should be more popular
Actual poetry
First time i heard her, i fell in love............lol she is totally natural, and so beautiful
This song brings beautiful memories of a dear sweet friend brutally murdered almost two years ago.(Her family is in court with her killer as I write this) Picturing her singing this song soothes so many of our souls. (that is the last memory some of us have). Choking back the tears as I listen. Rest in peace Laura
I’m so sorry for your loss! ❤️
It’s been a few years, how is this persons family doing?
💕❤ 💖........thx Anna ....song made me buy the CD years ago .....applies EXACTLY even now ...
" these words are my diary screaming out loud and i know that you'll use them however you want to"
Best
I came to know about this song when the movie trailer for Catch & Release with Jennifer Garner and Timothy Olyphant was released, I fell in love with this song.
such a beautiful song. how does this not have at least a million views
PRINCESS POWERS IN USE!!! TY SO VERY MUCH!!! 😍🌹
My god is she drop dead gorgeous or what?
I am addicted to this tune. My friend Bridgette and i duet on this song. she does the singing and guitar and i do guitar. fun to play...especially when Bri sings it.
Ahhh Grey's Anatomy
2 AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake
"Can you help me unravel my latest mistake?
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season"
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize
Hypocrites, you're all here for the very same reason
And 'cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, girl
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Oh breathe, just breathe
In May he turned 21 on the base at Fort Bliss
"Just a Day, " he said down to the flask in his fist
"Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year"
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while
But, my God, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles
Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button, boys
So cradle your head in your hands
And breathe, just breathe
Oh breathe, just breathe
There's a light at each end of this tunnel
You shout 'cause you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
And these mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around
2 AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, it's no longer
Inside of me threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them however you want to
But you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand
And breathe, just breathe
Whoa breathe, just breathe
Oh breathe, just breathe
Oh breathe, just breathe
i may not find the rewind button.. but at least there's a replay button
She is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL; she's got a cute song too....
I have Breathe 2 AM song by Anna Nalick on a White Inkjet Blank CD-R Disc burned in Summer 2005 on my iMac desktop computer in MP3 Format and it has no scratches and I will keep it forever 💿.
I don't know who else gets the JLO commercial before this song, but it's like a slap in the face when you're expecting Nalick's beautiful voice.
Those final notes make me see sunshine in my mind; sunshine and that white dress shivering in the wind.
I just found this song. Our world is out of control, and music is the only way to stay sane.
This girl is AmaZingly talented, and the lyrics are so gut wrenching, for those of us who have been there !
This was the perfect music to put on that Grey's Anatomy episode with the bomb explosion, Dr Bailey giving birth, and Tucker having his craniotomy.
just. Beautiful..melts me....thank you....still today..hearts..lol..
I am mesmerized 😳..the voice,the breathtaking beauty...💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
This song makes me cry every time I here it :'(
Caleb Gibson this song helps me not cry when I have been all day... she reminds me to calm down and breathe
Caleb Gibson me too......don't know why.....
Caleb Gibson, if you need an ear...just add gmail. I'm/we're here.
God, this song gives me chills.
quando toca em greys anatomy é perfeito, just breath...
Beautiful song :) Reminds me of stepping back from the hard times and running away to my sanctuary that only I know about so that I could just breathe.
I’ve never understood why this mega talented lady never became one of the biggest stars in the world.
Top 3 best song lyrics ever written in my opinion.
Breathe......Anna Nalick
Copperhead Road...Steve Earl
Tangled up in Blues.........Bob Dylan
Full of emotions and short sweet memories 👍👍
But my god, it's so beautiful when the boy smiles...wanna hold him💘

I don't know what's hotter...her voice or her face. :)
Probably my favorite version of this great song. Beautiful lady, beautiful song, incredible voice. She still sounds great ( maybe better) in 2020 and is just as beautiful.
stole the words off my keyboard. isn't exactly my kind of music but i heard this on the radio while driving home in the rain, it was bliss.
something about her voice reminds me of alanis morrisette! gorgeous song
...just breathe... ...yah, i gotta keep reminding myself to do that ;)
...she makes it sound so simple.
...and so beautiful.
...thanks Anna...
...you're an inspiration!
truly, jAckie messenger (songwriter/ singer/ guitar-girl from Hawaii =)
? 30's fine .. like sweet wine ;) song's a classic... long after we are gone, for sure
I can never get enough of this song
Griffin and phoenix brought me here, amazing song!
Utterly believable.
omfg breathe is soooooooooooooo cooooooooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talent! Seriously, there are techniques you can learn -- to extend your breath, to hide your berating, etc.
Anna is so talented.
I don't remember how many times I've listened to this already and I don't care
Her voice is utterly amazing!!!!
No cute kitties, no "relaxing music", no funny videos. This is the only vid that can calm me down and make me breath.
I come to this video every time I feel things are not going well and I don't know how to fix them. This song just have this big power of relax my soul and convince me everything is going to be ok.
So, thank you, Anna Nalick.
Such soaring, deep beauty...With mindfulness...and curiosity..and interest in what's arising and passing away...great mystery of life...what is this? Look into it...and breathe.. ♡♡♡
Cant stop listening
Fab!
Something hauntingly beautiful about this song.
who needs drugs...music takes you higher than anything.
@Mr4433 god bless you and your family in your service to our nation. Thank you!!!
Everytime it's 2 am and I'm awake I think about this song and listen to it ♥
Such a beautiful song! I could listen to this one for hours!!!
She's Amazing.
I love this song... I heard it on Pandora, and I came right here. Very beautiful song, and it seems to be extremely heartfelt.
Still a classic even after all this time. I loved this song when I was younger 🥰
its actually about AA and getting over your addictions. jumping the track is referring to skipping steps. but as all great works of art the meaning is in the eyes and ears of the beholder so take it as whatever fits you.
She is just like a genius... Im so touched by this music again
Winter of 2015 just wasn’t my season 💔
I like her more live than I do on the radio edit. She's so passionate when she sing live. I love her.
I saw her ast year in Halifax N.S. Awesome show
