Was having a panic attack a few days ago and I heard the chorus to this song in my head. I haven’t heard this song in almost 20 years. The power of music people. Crazy.
Just had to take my dog to put her down yesterday with my husband. I've been balling my eyes out in bed and this popped into my head. Also haven't heard this song in 20 yrs
My mom showed me this song when I was going through a mental breakdown and I felt like I couldn’t keep going. Today she passed away and here I am listening again. Trying desperately to remember to just breathe.

Just wow! I recently had a run of bad health ( capricious youth and heavy drinking caused major damage in my adulthood ) I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted. The physical pain mixed with the alcohol withdrwals ( which are a cruel form of self induced torture ) were causing a large amount of anxiety stopping just short of full blown intense panic attack vibes. As I was sitting getting ready to begin surgery this song comes on the radio in the office, and I was immediately taken back to 2005 and felt a rush of relief course through my veins. I got choked up and teary eyed listening to those words, that melody and her incredible voice as I took her advice and just started breathing and I was comforted instantly and got through the surgery just fine. Now anytime I get too stressed I just hum this chorus to myself and start to mellow out. The power of music is amazing!
I'm old as dirt and I just came upon this by accident. What a great song! I'm not sure why Anna didn't break out more into the big time. She's beautiful, talented, and has wonderful music. Gonna check out more of her tunes.
I am an old guy...........just about to turn 70............sitting outside my local coffeehouse when this song enters my world.............Wow..........Who's that? What is that song?..........My phone, miraculous device it is, enlightens me. Love Anna's voice, and this song, can't get it out of my head..............don't want to actually.............Very glad I came across this talented young woman,. Question is, was this an accident or, as many believe since "There are no accidents" , something I needed right now?............I much prefer to believe the latter.
This song is one of the best written, not only because it’s a fucking masterpiece, but because it’s simple. It tells everything, in a smart way, and it rhymes. I can’t put into words how these lyrics speak to me. It deserved a much better video.
I agree. Such a missed opportunity. It’s her trying to be model-y the whole time, completely ignoring all the emotionally charged stories and situations of the lyrics.
I feel like the video was super calming. Reminding you to enjoy the little things like the flowers she plays with and art like the pictures hanging from the string in her room. Like the sheets of music she caresses. “Just Breathe”
It should have been more like the part where she sings "and I feel naked in front of the crowd cause these words are my diary screaming out loud and I know that you'll use them however you want to."
So my abusive father (I lived with him at the time) had a girlfriend , and she loved this song. But my dad accused her of stealing drugs. And that night, he kicked her out of the house to go stay at a hotel, but that night, she walked 5 miles home. And slept on the porch. My dad screamed at her, and I can't remember what happened after that. But all I know is that I haven't seen her since. And she loved this song. I really miss her, and I hope she is getting better and is happy.
Hey I hope your good in quarantine rn and I've also had a LOT of domestic violence until I was 8 (I'm 16 now) but im glad your with your mom now. I wish you the best. Much love ~ Kim lee
It gets me teary eyed as well. You can feel her raw emotion through the airwaves without a doubt. So well done. Unlike most artists in that time frame she actually wrote and composed her stuff. I would take an Anna Nalick anyday over Taylor Swift whining about breaking up with 3/4 of Hollywood and her millions of clones that don't offer anything original or as meaningful as this song
This song will always take me back to my dad when he was in a coma and in his last months of life. I would sit by his bedside and hear this song and take that chorus literally to heart for him... JUST BREATHE... JUST BREATHE... I love and miss him, but one day we will meet again..
I wish this song would have won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy, and been number one of the US charts. Probably the most underatted song ever. God Bless.
Threatening the life it belongs to... Those words resonate, because as a poet, I often wake up with words I need to write down before I forget them and go back to sleep. It does feel like the words are eating you until you write them down. Anna, you're the best!
Fantastic. This woman is not only drop dead gorgeous, but she also has an angels voice, and her song writing ability is rivaled by none. One of the best lines in a song ever: " 'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table...." Absolutely fantastic. She should be a HUGE star...somebody isn't doing right by Anna. Very few albums I can listen to all the way through...she has two that I can't get enough of....
I love how the music drops out at 2:56 and it's just the vocal. On the Spotify version the music actually gets heavier there, I like this video version better, feels more raw.
a feeling of comfort of a rolling wave of understanding of inner feelings, wave after wave like a tide of the unattainable essence of things and the causal connection between them
We are at an insane time in history when flask and sober is considered "dirty"; if someone can't hear those words without hitting the bottle, they have bigger problems than this song!
Every time I hear this I can’t help but think of how kind Kyle Chandlers eyes are and the sadness and fright in Meredith’s. I’m not a Greys fan, but that is an absolute amazing heartfelt scene (paired with this song) in TV history. Just breathe….
I listened to this song constantly during my time in the grippy sock hotel the summer before I turned 18. I’m 30 now, and though the memories of that rough patch in my life are still there, I see this song from a more positive perspective. Life and time will always move forward, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all there’s nothing wrong with sitting down and just breathing and taking it all in.
The greatest one-hit wonder in music history. An iconic, unforgettable song. Anna Nalick never had another hit, but it doesn't matter--she's a legend for this one alone.
That trite, overblown cliche "iconic" that says absolutely NOTHING just stifled your words because your use of that trite, overblown cliche, not a word at all, stood in the way...
@@James-pq3qq Isn't it a little trite and overblown to repeat the words "trite, overblown cliche" twice in a single sentence? Calm down, take a breath, and rewrite your comment properly.
I listened to this and the sun started breaking through the rain. If that isn't a message, I don't know what is. Just breathe, everything will be ok. Thank you for this beautiful contribution of artwork to the word!

Song saved my life. My dad had just died, my house was in foreclosure, and the day before I found my dog laying on the floor lifeless. I had been working with a customer to resolve an issue that was partly her fault and partly ours, and thought we had come to an amicable agreement. After she agreed to the resolution, she tore into my company, and then me personally for taking so long to come up with a resolution that she didn't like. Spoke to my senior rep, then my coach.... With all that had been going on, I was devastated. I almost walked out of the building (not because my coach blamed me for the bad call, just because I couldn't take it anymore), and probably would have wrapped my truck around a tree.... But one of my co-workers came up to me, but her earbuds in my ears, and made me listen to this song.
I have heard this song so many times before but right now end of 2022 and what i am going through it helped me find my peace. Every word of this song just hits so hard and gently true...it puts me at ease. Thanks Anna your song is beautifully articulated! A classic!
What a beautiful song every time I hear it captivates my soul ... no matter the struggle no matter the mountain no matter how bad the weather gets breathe and remember God always puts a way out of the tunnel I love all you guys in the name of Jesus
I listen to this to get my mind off of my boyfriend (since he’s not doing a good job on doing his part). Because the song is so soothing, it decreases the chance of my anxiety and stress levels from going up. Whenever I get really scared or nervous about something, my anxiety levels begin to build up, sometimes causing seizures or tears to come into my eyes. This is the song that soothes my mind and keeps me less stressed and more calm and relaxed.
I'm not someone who listens to this kind of music and I'm more of a video game, trance, metal kind of guy but this song has saved me through my first job out of college struggles 10 years ago and mental health/almost middle age crisis recently. So beautiful hearing this
This song has helped me through so many stages of life from teenage trauma, all the way to mother hood. I always use it to check in and it brings me to tears every time, good ones too, to stop and breathe no mater what is happening in life. Today I am mom to 3 littles and a grateful cancer survivor. Thank you Anna for writing this song-it has truly taught me to " just breathe" and be a better human xo
I heard that for spiritual giants, like myself, our hearts don't really shatter. It never hurts us like regular people. We just brush it off and carry on.
OMG, I haven't heard this song in more than 10 years, completely forgot about it and got it in my recommendations. Clicked on it because something about the name sounded familiar. Now listening. Chills!
Hi, great comment! She actually has two new albums out and one of them is all covers! I'd really appreciate if you'd give it a listen to and consider purchasing her music through her website. She is so wildly underrated! If you have any kind of reach on social media I'd appreciate it if you could give her a little shout out! Thank you! 🙏
The comfort this song has brought me for years is so appreciated. Anytime I'm anxious or having a panic attack I sing along and by the end I feel better. Thank you!
I am glad to be able to watch this again on RUclips. It had been removed from RUclips a while ago (maybe because of the forbidden words in the song: "flask" and "sober"). Make sure that, whatever you do, you NEVER, EVER utter or write those words! Unless you want to burn in Hell for all Eternity!
This comment hit me directly in my Spirit. I remember my own period of crying 😢 in the car on the way to a horrific, abusive, devastatingly toxic job. I've moved beyond those days but I still feel remnants of utter sadness about what I forced myself to do in order to survive. Wishing you continued strength and a future in which you never endure such a torment again.
Didn't know it was on a soundtrack, I as a hetero black male, absolutely love this song, and it has more soul, than most Gospel hymns...... because it's real pain and the description of sorrow
Amazing song to meditate to. After applying a breathing technique, everything came together. The problems all seemed far away and I felt so much bigger than them. We are all stronger than we know. We just have to tap into that strength.
I was also still awake and got those calls. This song got me through a heartbreak in college losing someone very important to me. I went through the loss alone and music got me through it.
Yes, grieving my mother's suicide when I was 16. This holiday season is very difficult as my husband walked out on me Sep.9th. I have been devastated and extremely hurt. Just got to remember to breathe. ❤️
Im into rock music, punk, alternative. But I can say this is in my top three all time favorite songs. It's just beautiful. One of those songs you just close your eyes listening to
Me too. I thought I had this on my playlist somewhere. I think its obvious & predictable how most ppl around this time, or wever ppl grew up listening to, in their times, certain songs will always stick to those certain ppl more. But It just sounds like a coming of age song to me. I dont get ppl how come back yrs later to certain songs talking about oh, now I get it. Honestly, where the hell have u been? Bc alotta sh is kind of basic & not even that complex. Maybe some analagies thrown in, w/ some play on words... at times, but some stuff couldn't be any more literal. Anywho, I remember when Tommy Lee (mc) said this was his jam. Ha, not that I'm some huge MC fan but I did not see that coming.
I've watched several times the movie Griffin and Phoenix. It's beautiful. And this song is part of sound tracks of the movie and fitted perfectly. I just can't get enough!
Quite simply, one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Delicate, simple, moving, sad, melancholic. A masterpiece. Thank you for this wonder, which I listen to again and again ....

Now anytime I get too stressed I just hum this chorus to myself and start to mellow out. The power of music is amazing!
Best of luck to you ! Just Breath !
Hugs
It’s her trying to be model-y the whole time, completely ignoring all the emotionally charged stories and situations of the lyrics.
she and the song is beautifil.
@Eva's Edits she rolls through the lyrics as though it was all a fcukin game to her. Which it probably was.
"Life is an hour glass glued to a table." A strikingly beautiful line with the shock of truth.
HI I hope you're safe and AWAY from your father, and/or that he has gotten help HIMSELF. Take care. - sure hope you and she are doing better.
@UCZm41v-BVcVcMFt6K39UCqQ thank you a lot. I live with my mom now!
i have made it to 65 good luck to you/.....
Hey I hope your good in quarantine rn and I've also had a LOT of domestic violence until I was 8 (I'm 16 now) but im glad your with your mom now. I wish you the best. Much love ~ Kim lee
@@averylevine.1835 thank you! I hope you're enjoying your quarantine! There are a lot of fighters on this world! Thank you for the support! 💖 -Lillie
This song is getting me through the toughest time of my life. Thank you.
That a capella part after 3:00 hits just deep. Her eyes gets watering, it's just very emotional
Each verse is like an emotional string being plucked. One of my favorite songs.
This song will always take me back to my dad when he was in a coma and in his last months of life. I would sit by his bedside and hear this song and take that chorus literally to heart for him...
JUST BREATHE...
JUST BREATHE...
I love and miss him, but one day we will meet again..
I lost my Dad too. My heart knows your pain and I wish you lots of light
Touching and heart breaking, sending love
Your words cut right through me.I watched my Dad pass after making the decision to end his suffering.Real recognizes real.💕
Amen!
Anyone else visit this video often, when we need some encouragement to "just Breath" ??
And I'm here again...
And Again ... July 2024
And again
and again August 2024
It's September 2024 and back again.
I wish this song would have won an Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy, and been number one of the US charts. Probably the most underatted song ever. God Bless.
Simply a masterpiece. The lyrics. The orchestra. Lovely.
Threatening the life it belongs to... Those words resonate, because as a poet, I often wake up with words I need to write down before I forget them and go back to sleep. It does feel like the words are eating you until you write them down. Anna, you're the best!
❤❤❤ I remember meeting her at a concert in Jax, Florida. I even bought a t-shirt and a cd. Beautiful soul. 😊 Love her.
Song is about abortion. . . .
You should check out her acoustic version, her and her acoustic guitarist. She's even more drop dead gorgeous in it ... Whew!!!
Wow 2:57 gave me chills, I never heard that a capella version, had a whole new rawness to it
I have loved this song ever since it came out. It just touched a nerve and it still does!
Same here Lisa! Loved it when I first heard it play on the radio
Same here
It's about abortion
@@Mike-ri3qv how is this song about abortion? Explain…nothing in this song is even close to being about abortion
Beautiful piece of music even 22 years after being released!!!
I love how the music drops out at 2:56 and it's just the vocal.
On the Spotify version the music actually gets heavier there, I like this video version better, feels more raw.
I absolutely love this song but the fact that they censor the words “flask” and “sober” is just freaking ridiculous
Sober 🙊
There are certain religions that ban drinking that spend a lot of money on websites much like this one. Just saying.
@Floatinghihi don't call arianna a hoe she did nothing to you
Reckless & Relentless I am in total agreement with you my fellow Marvel fan. EXCELSIOR 👍👍👍👍👍
Reckless & Relentless Those aren’t even dirty words!
I can listen to Anna Nalick "Wreck of the Day" album from start to finish without skipping a single song, that's how amazingly written each song is.
a feeling of comfort of a rolling wave of understanding of inner feelings, wave after wave like a tide of the unattainable essence of things and the causal connection between them
We are at an insane time in history when flask and sober is considered "dirty"; if someone can't hear those words without hitting the bottle, they have bigger problems than this song!
😂 😂
It sounds like she sings, "He said down to the cock in his hand" lol
Snowflakes!
I literally paused my brain thinking, did I just hear “flask and sober” get bleeped out? WTF???? 😳
Yup, that's our new world.
Clean? CLEAN? There was *nothing* explicit about this beautiful song!
Every time I hear this I can’t help but think of how kind Kyle Chandlers eyes are and the sadness and fright in Meredith’s. I’m not a Greys fan, but that is an absolute amazing heartfelt scene (paired with this song) in TV history. Just breathe….
there is alot of genius in this song. Almost to a level unmatched and understood. This woman is something. Very intelligent.
I dont think I ever met a song as versatile that made me happy and sad at the same time. God Bless.
Am sorry this song is awesome but Lexie Grey made me know this snd she did a great cover of this😭😭 ps ur voice is swell🔥
Griffin and Phoenix
The simplest of songs can make a profound impact on us like this song.
I just, October 2024 found this song. Well it found me and it is amazing.
LEXIE GREY IS COMING ❤
Someone said that this song reminds them of holding a bomb in there hands 🤣
She's back💯🎉
Merder ❤️
I'M CRYING 😭😭😭😭😭😭
YES
At 2:58 when the music cuts out is so powerful. So glad to see this video back out there.
That was the last scene shot for the video.
MrGL1973 weird thing is the original video played her taking her breaths. It’s a powerful moment that truly shows the emotion behind the lyrics.
annanalick.blogspot.com/2010/05/32205.html?m=0 This entry discusses the bridge section which was the last take of the video shoot.
Anna Nalick never had another hit, but it doesn't matter--she's a legend for this one alone.
true, and not enough mention of her voice, it's very pleasant and easy to listen to.
You are mistaken that she "never had another hit". Look up her other songs. Enjoy !
I didn't know the song was about abortion either.
Volviendo después de ver el trailer del 17x10 en Grey's 😭😭😭💔
Yes! 😭
Me too. 💔😭
Two AM and she calls me 'cause I'm still awake,
Can you help me unravel my latest mistake,
I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season
Yeah we walk through the doors, so accusing their eyes
Like they have any right at all to criticize, hypocrites,
You're all here for the very same reason
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button girl,
So cradle your head in you hands
And breathe, just breathe,
Whoa breathe, just breathe
May he turn twenty one on the base at Fort Bliss
Just today he sat down to the flask in his fist,
Ain't been sober, since maybe October of last year.
Here in town you can tell he's been down for a while,
But my God it's so beautiful when the boy smiles,
Wanna hold him, maybe I'll just sing about it.
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table.
No one can find the rewind button boys,
So cradle your head in your hands,
And breathe, just breathe,
Whoa breathe, just breathe
There's a light at each end of this tunnel, you shout
But you're just as far in as you'll ever be out
These mistakes you've made, you'll just make them again
If you only try turning around.
Two AM and I'm still awake, writing a song
If I get it all down on paper, its no longer
Inside of me, threatening the life it belongs to
And I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
'Cause these words are my diary, screaming out loud
And I know that you'll use them, however you want to
'Cause you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable,
And life's like an hourglass, glued to the table
No one can find the rewind button now
Sing it if you understand.
And breathe, just breathe
Whoa breathe, just breathe,
Muchas muchas graaaaciiaaaas
Love this song!
Life has a way of turning completely upside down.
I wish you calm waters for the rest of yours. ☮️
This has got to be one of the most beautiful and true songs I've heard in a while.
I have heard this song so many times before but right now end of 2022 and what i am going through it helped me find my peace. Every word of this song just hits so hard and gently true...it puts me at ease. Thanks Anna your song is beautifully articulated! A classic!
Only 7.9 million views ???
I must have watched this video half of those views !
Lets get those views up for this masterpiece.
I never thought that this beautiful song is also performed by a beautiful woman😍🌹
So beautiful hearing this
A go to song for getting a break from the crazy world without doing something stupid.
Just Breath ! You Got This !!
Her voice is like silk on my face. The payoff is that the voice is matched to a beautiful woman.
Everytime I hear this song it feels like there's a bomb on my hands
Nahum Rodrigues ahh ik
:'(
hahahahaha
😂😂
Like Meredith gray
Thank you!
She has the clearest smoothest singing voice ever!🤗
Anna is singing directly to my soul with wisdom that pierces my heart !
This is a lyrical masterpiece !
Sony kept filing copyright violations whenever the video was posted to non-Vevo channels in this version (with no censoring).
😂
How many views this video had before?
I had a job that I really hated and I would cry every morning on my way, but this song always brought me together again before I got there. 💕
You need Johnny paycheck take This Job and shove it I ain't working here no more just saying
Back here after they announced the return of LEXI GREY, after almost 9 seasons she is back. I'M SO HAPPY!
Listened to this song in college after i lost someone i loved, cried like a baby but loved this song for getting me through it.
Yes, grieving my mother's suicide when I was 16. This holiday season is very difficult as my husband walked out on me Sep.9th. I have been devastated and extremely hurt. Just got to remember to breathe. ❤️
One of the best songs ever written. It is philosophically significant. Some very intelligent person will study it in the future, mark my words.
A classic. Will forever love this song.
It's about abortion
Im into rock music, punk, alternative. But I can say this is in my top three all time favorite songs. It's just beautiful. One of those songs you just close your eyes listening to
This song always took my anxiety away when I was a kid. I'm so happy I found it again 💕
So majestic 2:55 the acapella part, love it!!
I haven’t heard this in SO long and the amount of nostalgia its giving me-
When this song came out I was going through some rough times, and this song really helped me to relax and "BREATHE"
Thank you Anna!
I don't think I've ever heard a song that could make you feel every emotion there is plus a few new ones. This is such a beautiful song.
I've watched several times the movie Griffin and Phoenix. It's beautiful. And this song is part of sound tracks of the movie and fitted perfectly.
I just can't get enough!
You know that feeling when you come home and everything is clean and tidy? That’s what this song is for my ears and heart.
I'm not able to explain how much this song touches me and describes particular moments of me. Thanks for that !
I love the part at 2:55 when the music cuts out and its just her voice, then the music just picks back up. It added a completely different feeling.
So therapeutic! I love your voice, the lyrics and the calming effect this song gives me. It never gets old for me. Thank you Anna!!!
anna nalik's handwritten song is precious, God bless you, pensive women...I'm thankful
Happy New Year everyone! Nothing makes me warmer on a new year than listening to the song. It’s better than going to church. #grateful
You Didn't let her Correct Just One Word, that ment everything to her. HER SOUL SCREAMING OUT LOUD. Love you Baby.
Quite simply, one of the most beautiful songs of all time. Delicate, simple, moving, sad, melancholic. A masterpiece. Thank you for this wonder, which I listen to again and again ....
