  • Anna Nalick is a platinum selling songwriter, singer, and musician from California. She grew up in small towns outside of Los Angeles, and began writing when she was in grade school. She wrote her first album, “Wreck of the Day”, while she was still in high school. Nalick has always written all of her music by herself entirely, and was surprised by the sudden attention from record labels after a few live performances at Hollywood’s Hotel Cafe. Nalick’s first album, “Wreck of the Day”, featuring hit single, “Breathe (2AM)” was officially released under ColumbiaRecords/SonyMusic in 2005. The success of the first album sent Nalick on her first international tour. With “Breathe(2AM)” topping charts in several countries as well as twice in the US, the tour stretched for the better part of four years, and introduced Nalick as a musical guest on the daytime and late night talk show circuit. Nalick’s music is still regularly featured in movies and television. In 2009 Nalick released “The Shine EP” featuring her third hit single, “Shine”, under ColumbiaRecords/SonyMusic. After a short US tour, Nalick made the decision to part ways with Sony in order to attend college and travel. Nalick states, “I knew I had to give myself room to develop creatively in the most honest way possible. I don’t want to be thinking about numbers or image or schtick while I’m working. When I write I want to laugh at it, grieve with it, be sarcastic, be abstract and obtuse, unabashedly romantic, or brutally honest in my observations, with no censorship or angle. That’s the only way it works for what I’m trying to accomplish because it digs deep. But it takes a minute to learn how to apply executive CEO brain while still protecting artist brain. It comes with age I think.”
Before going back to school for creative writing, Nalick released her first independent album entitled, “Broken Doll and Odds and Ends”. Mostly acoustic with a collection of unique instrumentation, Nalick describes it as a collection of songs that felt too close to leave behind when she left the label.
After school and a run as the lead in a 2013 stage-play about a woman with mental illness, Nalick returned to life on tour. In 2015 she began producing a new album, entitled “At Now”. Nalick describes the album stating, “It will span genres and eras with a fusion of acoustic and electric, digital and analog, and with the creative genius of some of my favorite musicians who also happen to be some of my best friends…. Thematically it is as tongue in cheek as it is visceral or intellectual or romantic. Its my story and it’s the world as I see it, but it’s poetry and metaphors so it’ll speak to whatever people want it to mean. I’m a studier, a lover, and a human. It’s human. I hope that makes it timeless in some way.”

This is among a handful of songs/[encapsulated celebrated life] that should go down in history as 100% feeling. As the song goes, I can imagine the waves breaking on a sandy beach...Breathe...just breathe.
