If my grandma could return she would SOO agree with you Dan!
And say:’ the best mental exercise is practicing CALMNESS, the best physical exercise is doing normal things: walk, run, jump, instead of sitting, laying or standing too long..’
That combined with releasing old stuff, counting your blessings, being grateful, being content with what you have, have healthy thoughts and behaviors, lovely interactions with people, and good food.
She became a happy healthy 96 year old, so I look forward to apply your and her approach for the long good future that lays in front of me!
Have a good weekend with your mom Dan!and everyone else too!

I had a very interesting experience with this.
My 84-year old friend got COVID. On the phone, she told me that she felt very bad and might not make it. I went to see her and found her responding to the bell, standing in the door frame and talking to me with the same vigour as usual.
In the end, I simply told her that though she might feel lousy, she looked rather well and had no shortness of breath at all, and that I thought she had a mild case.
She lit up and fully recovered within 5 days (and told me that I had saved her life). Bless her. ❤
It’s incredible what the mind can do.

I’m still trusting in Jesus even though I’m still struggling putting groceries in the refrigerator, and paying bills. I’m a single mother. Like many others, I lost my job as a social worker because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition (Lupus) and Heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption from Forsyth Hospital. I’m waitressing but not making nearly enough to make ends meet. My husband is in heaven with God. I’m all alone. No family nor friends. Both of my sons are autistic, and non verbal so they require a lot from me. Every month is a struggle, a battle to not end up on the streets. Im so tired and I want to give up. BUT I HAVE FAITH GOD WILL PROVIDE. He has this far. Thank you Jesus. I BELIEVE. Faith over fear!

I got Covid during the first wave, March 2020. Suffering from a long list of horrible symptoms, combined with the whole unknown (will I survive) and social distancing (being alone at home for weeks), caused both my body and mind to freak out. Very realistic in my situation, but I'm certain that I could've avoided or shortened my over a year of Long Covid if I wouldn't have had such fear about it all. I actually had Covid two months ago and, although also physical symptoms being milder although still bothersome, knowing about TMS and my nervous system and trying to stay calm and trusting my body, I am now getting back to my old self already.

I agree, there is much fear around the entire thing including the shots. Whether or not they are involved in you feeling sick is unknown. What I can say is that fear is not your friend here. What if your fear is what is creating and keeping symptoms going? Calm is always a better strategy whether there are legitimate issues at play or not.

Fear suppresses the immune system. All viruses can leave post viral symptoms. All we can do is eat healthy and go live. My GP says has to be 4months plus. I was left with sinus and throat issues. Took another three months to feel normal. Got covid again along with a bacterial infection, same issues again but I know it'll clear and on the plus side my antibodies will protect me this winter.

I never get sick, but I did in January 2022. I assumed it was the flu. I went on to develop POTS, fatigue, cognitive issues, brain fog, vision problems, etc. I attributed all of this to a car accident I was in in 2020. Now, I'm almost certain all of those symptoms were a direct result of getting covid.
In February of this year, 2024, I suddenly developed venous insufficiency in my legs. Since then, over the past 3 months, veins are bulging in my arms, hips, lower abdomen, hands, fingers, up my sides near my ribs, and in my legs & feet. The veins are spreading and new ones are bulging by the day.
I did some research and found long covid reddit threads full of people experiencing the EXACT same thing. None of us have gotten any answers as to what is causing this.
Every doctor I've been to tells me "it's normal because you're thin", as if I'm some moron that was born yesterday and doesn't know what my own body looks like. My friends and family are just as concerned as I am and clearly notice the change in my veins as they are rapidly getting worse by the day.
It's hard for me to believe long covid is simply TMS or PDP. There is definitely something physically going on in my body to cause such a sudden increase in vein dilation. Again, not a single doctor, including my VEIN specialist, has any idea what's going on. My vein specialist told me point blank that they're never seen this before. I'm at a total loss and have no idea what to do. I'm scared out of my mind.

Pausing to comment on the part where you mentioned a client's TMS symptoms decreasing during a bout of viral illness. One of the great indicators of PDP for myself was that the week my beloved cat was in ICU, I had ZERO SIJ pain. After he passed away, the pain returned. I now understand that my mind was solely focused on worrying and caring for him. I am still deeply saddened by the loss, but I am grateful for yet more evidence that I am approaching this correctly. Hi ! (Disclaimer : I can only talk about my own long covid experience and therefore can't make claims about the illness in generall)
I've had TMS (lower back pain) and I treated it almost overnight some years ago simply by understanding and recognizing what was going on. Now I've experienced long covid and I must say, I think it has a huge mind/body component, but I truly think it's not TMS.
What I believe to be true : something physical (can't be by-passed or turned off by the mind) makes the autonomic nervous system extremely fragile/irritable. Now your thoughts are going to be instrumental, in order to calm the nervous system down and avoid it running wild. And obviously, if you're already anxious, having a fragile nervous system is going to be a bigger issue. I also think a lot of people maintain or nurture the illness (just like in TMS) with their reaction and their inability to calm down. But I think it's a "real" physically caused illness.
    Some thoughts/arguments :
    - It didn't go away instantly, it took some time and was progressive, just like skin that's healing from a scratch.
    - Paying attention to the symptoms never made it worse (except if that made me panick), quite to the contrary, it payed dividends to listen to the flare-up signs and detect and avoid the triggers.
    - Adapting your life to your condition and limitations has helped, instead of furthering and solidifying the illness, like it was the case with TMS.
    - Accepting that you're ill and that it's okay, that it simply will take a bit of time as you treat your condition, is what made me better. The resume-your-normal-life approach of TMS, despite the mental conditioning, the positivity, the belief, has always led to flare-ups.
So the mechanism of my long covid seems to be different from what I've experienced with TMS. That being said, a lot of the TMS doctrine still applies (and I think that's why many people think long covid is TMS). Hope/belief (placebo-effect) for instance is still a key part of getting better. Switching the focus from the physical to the mental aspect too, even if there is to be a physical cause to the condition. Finally, fear is bringing you down big time, mainly because of how it's negatively affecting your nervous system.
    Thanks for reading
    Patrice from Québec

Hello Heat and hello Dan! Correct me if i am wrong. I have long covid too. I hear many stories. Some people have lc for 6 months and some people for more than 2.5 years. Why this difference in time? I think (my theory) lc is a severe tms sympton. Too muchs stres for such a long time and the virus was the match to set the gasoline on fire..If i have tms in my finger and i choose to FEAR LESS instead of freaking out it can fade away pretty fast. But i think lc is a more severe TMS sympton. I had so much stres in my life when i got covid after covid i developed lc. I think my lc will fade away faster with time if i choose a non panic respond to the symptons and by believing it is my terrified brain creating the symptons instead of freaking out. I don't want to live 3 years with these symptons so i have to choose a good respond to the symptons to let it fade away faster. Is it ok to think this way Dan?

Hey Dan, I have severe CFS as my tms symptoms. Basically it's like having the flu, hang over and jetlag all at once. It's alot like covid. I actually got covid a few months ago and honestly at first didn't even know I had it cos it was Basically more of the same symptoms 😅. I'm so glad I found your videos and some NLP stuff shortly b4 getting covid as I was sooo much less freaked than I would have been (there us so much fear in cfs community's about getting covid ontop of their symptoms and getting worse) I really had to let go of that.
Also, alot of ppl who have "cfs" were stressed and/or have the typical personality traits then something happens that is the cherry on top and causes symptoms to arise -for many its getting some sort of virus etc.
So the link between cfs and Ling covid (just in my opinion ) seems super similar...like I actually wonder if long covid is just cfs, and cfs is actually just tms 🤣🤣😅 it's crazy !
Also I've heard alot of recovery stories with both cfs, long covid AND typical tms symptoms doing some sort of work like brain retraining courses or tms approaches and fully recovering, so that Harvard study is awesome as is more proof we can improve and recover with these approaches 🦄

Dan!! I had a question regarding my recovery; I’ve had trouble with my energy levels in the past and I’m still in the state of ‘needing a nap’ during my day. I try to get out of it as I know that it’a fueled by fear of not having enough energy if I don’t take a nap, but I’m failing until now and fall asleep on the couch at least one time per day. Any advice?

Do your best to change your story about your energy levels. And if you don't want to fall asleep on the couch, keep moving. I take naps sometimes too. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for making a (co)video Dan 😀.I got covid 6 months ago it began with fever and coughing. But in contradiction of this video i wasn't afraid of covid and i did not know about the existence of long covid so i could fear it. I suddenly wake up the 5th day of the infection with shortness of breath and since 6 months after the actually infection i still have shortness of breath and i am extreme tired. All doctor scans were clear... But i had a lot of stress (to much stres) before i got covid....My lungs are clear but i am still self directing my breath and that makes me weak and tired. I think it is tms but it is hard to get rid of it. My backpain went away in 2 weeks applying the Sarno method years ago but SOB is harder and i don't know how to switch the breathing from non automatic to automatic.

For what it's worth my allergies/sensitivities to food/pollens etc increased dramatically. I carry an EpiPen. Felt breathless but oximeter regularly at 100%. I think maybe our immune system ramps up once it's been in battle. Also my throat was so sore, got tonsillitis and strep throat, again I felt that was because I was run down etc. Same thing happened after having my one and only swab test throughout the whole Pandemic, after an accident and admission to A&E(thought they might need to operate) I was more scared to let them do that! All the fear mongering has done more damage in my opinion. Am putting my faith in it's TMS and recoverable.

Get your b12 (active) level checked, zinc and iron. My fatigue lasted 8months. After my 2nd hit of it a month ago I'm still tired but nowhere near the same level as before.

This video doesn't say you brought on shortness of breath due to conscious fear of covid. Symptoms are brought on by the subconscious. Some symptoms come about due to actual Covid. The fact they are still around may be a result of continued fear and focus on the SOB. Dial down the fear. Shift your attention away from the breath. When your brain feels safe, breathing will return to normal. Consider the course and group coaching if you want more formal help on this. www.PainFreeYou.com/join
