I grew up listening to NOFX and learned a few good guitar licks from their music. Whatever words one may have to say about Fat Mike, should not be said if they are harsh. That dude started punk af and remains punk af. What more could you want out of a person but to remain true to who they are. That's rock and roll.
Kinda digging this platform for an interview. Feels more comfortable and more natural for someone to say what they want.

Dude this is amazing!!!! Fat Mike on Doug Stanhope’s podcast was probably one of my favorite podcast’s of all times. Also, that reggae song album is AMAZING

Cool to hear something Mike produced ! My dad brought to see the misfits when I was a kid! ... and marky Ramone band opened!... and that was my 1 st or 2 nd punk rock show. PENNYWISE played same venue that year cant rememeber who I saw 1 st. American psycho tour Ft lauderdale Florida was a cool misfits show. I had never heard them before but I was a ramones fan. My dad hung out with them in NYC back in the day. He liked Max’s Kansas City and he worked at CBGBs but like Doyle said... it was kinda a dump. My dad had his record in the jukebox there so it was a big deal for him. I think he liked hanging out at CBGB’s more then most for that reason. Yeah I love misfits from like when I was 0 yrs old 82’. EARTH AD cd I bought for $1 under the bridge of my school in lake worth Florida. Played that cd walking the streets of west palm/lake worth all the time. I heard they suck live was also blasting out of my boombox way too loud as I walked through every neighbourhood. 😄loved the Mike bday set thanks for the views ! One of my fav(actually I think it is my fav) quarantine iso era live stream-Esque full set shows. I love when great bands I love put up full live sets. Cool to see Mike producing some reggae bands too. I love punk rock but I love reggae bands and ska and more chill music too in my old age. Been checking mikes label and always psyched to hear “mikes choice” new bands ! Super cool he gives the younger bands some love with his label

its honestly sad to see, but its way sadder in the past with literally everyone you meet in the music industry doing some kind of hard drugs like theyre some kind of candy.

Fat Mike said that he drank and did coke for 15 years with no major issues. The problem started when he was written pain med prescriptions. Then he had to go to rehab because things got out of hand. That makes sense to me.

He has been clean, just not since he was a child.
He goes through stages of being sober and being completely fucked up. You’ll notice it on their albums too. When he’s fucked up, the music usually sounds better cause he’s just going. (No, I’m not condoning drug use, he’s an adult and makes his own decisions.)
He has a clean house.
@@bonebips Mike was actually completely sober during the recording of every NOFX record except for First Ditch Effort (where he was drinking and doing blow every day).
He quit everything for something like 180 days a couple of years ago when he went through detox to kick painkillers, which he was very public about. After that, he kinda started back up. But come on. How do you not party when bands like Get Dead are playing at your house?
I dont think hes been clean for more than a couple months at a time since the 90s lol
