  • Fat Mike joins Ted Stryker in the Tuna on Toast Studio (aka my second bedroom) for an in-depth interview and hang.
The interview starts with Stryker asking Mike some hard hitting questions that were actually written by Fat Mike.
This leads into some talk about Mike's Cokie the clown shoes which he wore in his uber ride.
The guys chatter about Travis Barker here as well.
Mike tells Stryker about the first time dressed in woman's clothes publicly, walking through the Heathrow Airport.
The guys talk about the early NOFX days and the loan Mike got from his Dad to start Fat Wreck Chords.
Mike tells Stryker about the first time hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit and the time he passed on going to Amoeba Records with Krist Novacellic.
Mike talks about the difference between Oz Fest and the Warped Tour and how much he loved Warped!
The guys ping pong all over the place as this leads to chatter about Brett Gurewitz, Epitaph Records, and Bad Religion.
Mike talks about attempting to get his real estate license in 1989!
Mike tells Stryker what he looks for in bands that he's signed over the years...and Mike says he's starting a new label, focusing on individual songs.
Mike also reveals that he and the great rapper, the DOC are working together on a project called Co Defendants.
Mike talks about meeting El Hefe, Eric Melvin and Erik Sandin aka Smelly,
Stryker and Mike discuss what success actually means. Mike talks about why he never thought the band was a "radio band".
Mike and Stryker chat about his new podcast called Fat Mikes Fat Mic.
The guys take a shot of Tito's and talk about "Home Street Home", the musical.
Fat Mikes gives a huge shout out to the awesome MJ Rodriguez, the first trans actor to ever win a Golden Globe! MJ will appear in Fat Mike's musical!
Tuna on Toast then world premiers the song called "Catching Out", written Fat Mike and performed by MJ Rodriguez.
The guys talk about Mike's time at San Francisco State and how he actually got the nickname "Fat".
Mike tells Stryker all about the Punk Rock Museum in Vegas and the artists/musicians that are part owners..Bad Religion, Mark Hoppus, Fletcher, Pat Smear and more!
Mike hopes Green Day will jump on board!
Mike reveals to Stryker that there will be new NOFX music in 2022, 2023, and 2024 and Mike world premiers a new NOFX song called "Fuck Day 6". This is a song about Mike going to rehab.
Mike shows love to Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance as being really good guys!
What a fun hang with the legend himself, Fat Mike from NOFX, thanks for watching or listening to another episode of Tuna on Toast.

      You're really good at this!
I'd love to see you interview Laura Jane Grace from Against Me.
      She's hella iconic and underrated.
And most interviews I see with her are so focused on her being trans that they rarely get to anything interesting. Which is a huge disservice to her and her music.
I think you could do a good one tho.:-) pls consider it.

Mike is always entertaining, and his new podcast is awesome!
I've known the band since '84, and when they had no where to play back then because Erik's dad was working in the shop where No-Fx practiced in La Cresenta (above Sunland/Tujunga where I lived), they played in my garage. I called it punk rock ditch day lol! Anyway; half way through their set our big heavy ass garage door came off one hinge and fell on top of Mike's head and shoulder, and he held it up with his head and shoulder, but kept jamming through the song Ant Attack until I was able to push the cotter-pin back into the hinge,, he was so fucking punk! And my brothers friend fought with one of Mike's friends, that was not punk, and made me look bad and made me so mad. I've been a big supporter ever since, and I'm very happy that they are all happy and doing well. That was a fun podcast, well done Stryker! 👏🏻😃🎉

Fat Mike definitely did catch lightening in a bottle with the late 90s-early 2000s FatWreck bands! All those bands he mentioned, Lagwagon, Strung Out, Propagandhi, No Use...., Good Riddance, shaped my entire musical world and they still influence me to this day! Those bands in that era occupy a large portion of my all-time favorite records to this day. I still listen to that shit on a regular basis!

I turned 40 on January 6th. I heard Nofx the first time in 1991. Ribbed. Flat out still my favorite album by them and in my 10 fav all time albums as well. Just the Flu, Green Corn, Moron Bros, etc etc so many great songs and the playing is so fast and tight and the guitar solos are blistering. Fat Mike, Eric, Smelly, and all the other guitarists they've had thru the years- man, I still love this band, and am truly happy all of them are alive in 2022 thru monster addictions and a live fast die young attitude. I've survived 21 years of an i.v. heroin and fentynl and cocaine addiction so I feel pretty grateful to be here too. Hopefully get a band going again this year. It's not to late ever when you love what you do the music can still be good- respect strycker

I heard wbcn in Boston and heard the mighty mighty bosstones and offspring from there I found gd and blink. Because of this I found my first warped tour and whoosh my world opened up. I bought my first nofx reel big fish and Less Than Jake album. LTJ took my top of the list and never left lol. I have an 8 year old daughter who rocks out with me while everyone else goes country.

Warped tour WAS awesome back when nofx played at lassale park. In buffalo ny. With snapcase and rancid ,bad religion, etc fishbone..bodycount suicidal tendencies , lunachicks h20 ...but
the grass was ruined for 1 season.... so that venue ended. Point being it wasnt policed like a huge metal show. It was chill as fk! M and my cousin proved it was safe to jump into lake Erie at the spot. So we all jumped into lake erie !
with the dudes from h20 and the lunachicks. the main stage was backed up to the lake, and a street skate spot set up back there..it was my most memorable warped ! .

Wait a minute, he wrote a song talking about how terrible his dad was, maybe more than one, and his dad co-signed the loan that started it all. At least he did that

Mike is a cool guy and I think a genius songwriter, but I wish he would stop interrupting the interviewer so often just because he has a thought. I understand he looks at life as everything is absurd and he's direct with his opinions,, but i'd give him more room.
