In 2016 Within Temptation performed at the 013 in Tilburg (NL), as part of their annual "Black X-mas" show. This is 'Stairway To The Skies from 'The Unforgiving' (2011).

I've played this song on the piano after a good friend had to move away after having lived together in the same house for one and a half years - and I started crying, because the emotional power of this song is just absolutely ridiculous!

If there's a Black XMas 2019, I'm gonna try my damndest to be there...
Can definitely recommend to go. Been to both they have done so far. Better check their website on a regular basis. But nothing announced yet concerning a 2019 Black x-mas yet. However they are touring the US next spring and will perform some summer festivals next year in Europe.

It's a very nice version, but the original intro with the piano and Sharon humming is better, in my opinion. Maybe I only say so because this is one my favorite WT songs :)
They performed this yesterday and it sounded pretty much like the album version.
@@ronaldboers8061 you mean during their new tour? I was at the Moscow show of the tour in November, it was a very pleasant experience. Yes, Stairway to the skies was like the album version, it sounded beautiful.
@@viktork5905 correct. I was at the very last performance of that tour. I was so close to the podium i eve had eye contact with her twice.
That intro is the same used at "Theaters on Fire" tour. Since they used a lot of aspects of that tour at Gothic Christmas the choice of that version is not that surprising. I'm glad that both versions were released, so we have more options to listen this masterpiece.

I love The Unforgiving album but I couldn't find a single live performance for the songs (except for Sinead) that I like :(

@@ronaldboers8061 in general. I feel that Sharon exaggerates a lot this "new voice" she started using with the Unforgiving and I'm not really a fan of it. I do like it for Hydra songs. I was really disappointed by that stairway to the skies version :(
@@alcx112 it is not new voice, she use her chest voice, it sounds different what we used to hear on their first albums. This is not the best live version of this song, but you should hear Faster or Where is The Edge on acoustic version, Sharon sing better. Songs like Shot in the Dark or Fire and Ice sounds very well live at the same time of Sinéad
