    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 4 года назад +1

      Pumpkin Spice Latte you could just try the method again making sure you use the damp cloth and you really should only be pressing the iron not moving the iron around. Every brand of interfacing has their own set of directions I don’t know how many seconds you’re supposed to press your iron onto the fabric. Most likely that won’t be a concern because you will be sewing the fabric anyway

  • @Hatchstruck
    @Hatchstruck 3 года назад +1

    What type of fabric are you using for the damp pressing cloth? It looks a bit like part of a tshirt.

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  3 года назад +1

      It’s muslin fabric. It’s made of 100% woven cotton. It’s not stretchy like a T-shirt but feels more like a woven dress shirt.

  • @lifeexpectancy1517
    @lifeexpectancy1517 3 года назад +1

    To the point! Nice! However, some say just press and lift the iron (vs smoothing it across the fabric) so that you don’t inadvertently spread the adhesive to unwanted areas outside of your fabric. But love your video❤️

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  3 года назад

      Thanks for writing! I have seen the iron lifting technique before. I’m sure it’s a great way to fuse interfacing I just prefer to move the iron across. Thanks for your input. 😍

    Do you think this material can be used as an underlining material to make white trousers less see through?

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 года назад

      You could but it would make it quite stiff. That is the purpose of interfacing to make the area more stabilized. You would probably want to use lining fabric. It’s a lightweight woven fabric that could be used for this purpose.

    Thank you for the tutorial! Can I use two different weight of fusible interfacing in one mask? Medium 931 weight fused to the front cotton and 845 lite fused to the inside cotton? I ask because two layers of medium are hard to breath though. But, I want the stiffness that an interfacing provides on the inside as well. I have a lot of 931 so, just trying to figure out my options. Thank you for your expertise!

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  4 года назад

      You can do that but breath ability may be an issue. It’s still two layers of interfacing. You should consider that. What type of lining are you using? Maybe make your lining a heavier weight. Hope this helps.

    The fabric store gave me something called Pelion 915 Cambric. I don’t know how to sew, I said I was clueless what I was doing but I said I needed some material to make the pockets, the little strip that the buttons were put on and the collar, more sturdy. Really discouraged. The woman gave me this material and said to iron it onto the fabric and walked away.

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 года назад

      Are you using the Pellon on basic cotton fabric or silk or polyester? Another question… is this interfacing the fusible kind or the sew-in kind? It should have attached paper to explain which kind you have. If it’s sew in then you have your answer as to why it burnt up.

    • @Nubstar33
      @Nubstar33 2 года назад

      @@whatsshecreating As I previously mentioned, the fabric store told me it had to be ironed on. That’s when I found your awesome video. My husband and I both couldn’t figure out a smooth side and a rough side. We weren’t sure because we have never dealt with anything like that before. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 года назад

      @@Nubstar33 if you can not figure out the smooth vs. rough side then it is sew in. It’s not a problem. You just have to stitch all edges of the fabric with a loose stitch instead of ironing to fuse it. Thanks for your comments. I hope this helps.

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  2 года назад

      @@Nubstar33 sew each piece of interfacing to each pocket piece. Sew using a 1/8 inch seam allowance or sew 1/8 inch from the edge around entire piece. So if you have a square pocket you will have a square stitch around edges of pocket. I’ll probably do a video next week on this.

    • @whatsshecreating
      @whatsshecreating  4 года назад +2

      Yes it will hold up. You may want to try this type of interfacing but also research these:
      Here are three examples. I took this from thesprucecrafts.com:
      Cut-Away - Most commonly used with machine embroidery, cut-away stabilizer is also good for hand embroidery on stretchy fabrics. Baste or hoop it in place on the wrong side of the fabric before stitching. The stabilizer under your embroidery remains, but any excess is cut away after you're done.
      Tear-Away - Similar to cut-away stabilizer, this is great for when your fabric needs some support as you stitch. Some tear-away stabilizer is fusible and often it is applied to the front of the fabric. Unlike standard fusible and cut-away, the stabilizer is removed when you're finished.
      Water-Soluble - This stabilizer is temporary like tear-away, but instead of tearing it away, the stabilizer dissolves in water. It's useful for marking a pattern, but it can be used on the back of your work as well.
