It's sad that the Pellon website doesn't have anywhere near the information about their own product that you provide here. Such a comprehensive education you provide here. Thank you so much!
This is by far the most informative video on interfacing I’ve found so far. Thank you! As a new sewer it can seem daunting with all the different interfacing options to pick the right one and sadly the staff at my local fabric store are not very helpful and get annoyed when you ask questions. I feel like I can pick out what I need with confidence now after watching your video.
This has been the BEST demonstration of interfacing I have ever seen on RUclips or any other platform. For that, I have subscribed and liked. It is a good reference to rewatch when investing in bag ideas. Thanx.
So many products out on the market but not enough instruction. This video is so informative with visual as well as an audio explanation. Wonderful! Thank you!
Fabulous video. I ordered Shapeflex 101 after seeing your video. I had been using a non woven fleece before and found I didn’t like the bulk. This was brilliant. Thanks
Your wonderful instructional video far far surpasses all the many I have watched on interfacing. I finally feel like I can now choose and order some that will apply to the job. Thank you ever so much!
Good morning ☕️. You know how you do something (in this case use interfacing) for decades but don't know WHY you do it but you do it because that's what you were taught? Well, that's me ... until now ‼️ Talk about a revelation 😻. Can't thank you enough for THE MOST ILLUMINATING TUTORIAL since I learned not to just scoop flour out of the bin when baking 😝. Blessings to you for the blessing you just gave me! ❤️️
I am so glad I ran across this video. You gave me such a clear understanding of using interfacing that I am going out to purchase some for my clutch bags that I make. Again great tutorial
Higthly recomended to understand how interfacing behaves within the making of different projects. I love your presentation. I will save it on my Pinteret and use this as a reference to chose the best kind of interfacin to be use in my projects. Thankyou very much. GBY TX/PR
Deby, It's funny that I just watched your vid regarding recessed zippers where you used headliner fabric for the first time and struggled. I am sooo glad that I watched this right after. I too would have put the soft side to the fabric like you did and would have suffered too... even with the Teflon foot. Another very informative piece of work. I have it bookmarked for future reference. Thank you very much. Nancy
Thank you, very much for all the information you provided and how to and not to iron them. Now, I have and idea of what to purchase. I'm new at sewing and have been wondering how and which one yo use.
Thank you so much for this video, l love RUclips, any time I have a sewing or anything else that I need help with, RUclips is my go to for the answer. 99.9% of the time I find a resolution to a problem that I'm having, or get an altogether different idea from one video. Thank you so much to everyone for all of your help and advice 😘😘😘.
I am so thankful that you did this video and shared your knowledge in a Visual way with Fabric Application. Thank you so very much!! I am just learning bag making and I had no idea really where to start with stabilizers and I have been trying different stabilizers and sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t…it was purely a guessing game. But now I feel as if I have a good knowledge base because you took the time to share your knowledge in such a way that I understand and I am so grateful!! I do have one more question, what do you use for the bottom of the bag? You know the part that feels like hard like plastic that helps the bag have a stable bottom so it stands up. I would appreciate any and all advice you have. Thank you again! 😊
Thank you so much! I've always wondered what fusible fleece looks like on a piece of fabric. I also use Pellon 987F on my zippered pouches, it's amazing! :)
This was all so helpful and resourceful! Thank you for this wealth of information. I have been searching the internet to find out when to use a fusible interfacing and when to use fusible web. Why would one use one over the other? I am making a quilt which calls for both for different applique pieces to be sewn onto the quilt. Do you have any insight on this topic? Thank you again!
Alice Brown: I use fusible web to attach the applique to the quilt, then I stitch around the edges of the applique (use whatever stitch you like). The fusible web is used when you want 2pieces of fabric attached to each other. I do not trust the glue on the web to continue to hold the applique to the quilt or garment through repeated washings so I stitch it down; but the glue on the fusible web does a good job keeping the applique in place without pins or basting while I stitch around the edges. There are some nice YT videos demonstrating this. There is a technique for attaching fusible interfacing to the applique by stitching the interfacing wrong side to the applique right side, (use 1/4" seam allowance). Then cut away the interfacing center area, leaving a inch or so border of interfacing all around the outside edge. Then turn the interfacing to the wrong side. You can now press the applique with fusible interfacing to the quilt, and then stitch around the edges. Interfacing doesn't make the applique as stiff as fusible web. I hope this helps some. If it only confused you I apologize I for adding my 2cents worth. Fusible interfacing only has glue on one side, while fusible Web has glue on 2 sides.
@@jojosewist8921 Thank you for this detailed information! My pattern calls for the technique to attach the fusible interfacing to the appliqué right side. So thank you for this added support! I appreciate you taking the time to share your two cents. 😊
thanks for sharing all these information about interfacing. I'm new to using these. do you add fabric on the back of interfacing along with the front fabric?
Deby, thanks again for a refreshing course, and I also learned few techniques in your video, also I wanted to know if you have used "In-R-Form Plus" for bag making, it comes both side fusible and also one sided, it is sewing machine friendly, made by BOSAL, and is also made in the USA, if you have not used it before, give it a try, you will love it, thanks again for another great video
Loved this! Very helpful. Would really appreciate a link to where you source your interfacing. Struggling to find good variety of interfacing where I live and ordering online is challenging when you can't see or feel the interfacing in your hands. Thank you.
That's exactly the problem I was having, I didn't know what they were like so I was afraid to order online. I hope this video gives you more of an idea now. In terms of where to buy them, I just ordered online from JoAnn here - bit.ly/1z5hBol They often have a 50% sale on the bolt so you can buy a big bolt at a really good price that will last a LONG time.
+So Sew Easy hi there, I have just attempted to order to Australia online, but joann dont do international shipping, are you based in the US or the UK please? lots of sellers on amazon but they wont ship to Australia either, frustrating as online sellers in Australia are 3 times the price, :(. thanks.
Thank you for your video. Very informative. Im attempting a quiet book project but i am unsure on what i should use for interfacing to make the pages a bit sturdier. What would you suggest?
I have a bag of Liberty scraps that have not been cut on the grain.I have two projects in mind. one EPP hexagons.and a scrap quilt. can I fuse the fabric in each case?
Thank you so much! I just started sewing and was so confused about which interfacing to use - I just made my first drawstring project bag and used Pellon 808 and felt maybe it was too stiff when I pull the drawstrings closed - it didn’t drape as nicely as I’d like. Do you have a recommendation? After watching your video I thought I’d try the shapeflex 101. Thanks again!
How would you iron this on to Fleece? I work with mainly fleece and when I make baskets they were not standing up good enough so I bought some extra firm pellon, I believe it is the F71. It does say iron on and I paid a lot for it so I want to use it. Thanks
It would be helpful to give the formal names and actual catalogue no’s fir ordering ! After watching this I went to visaline web site and can’t tell the thickness to order I want a fusible soft fleece but not too thick ???
Learnt many new things. Thank you! I only know and use the thin, paper-ish fusible one. Now I understand som other types. I make (learning, actually) clothes mostly.
Very informative! I didn´t know that there are existing so many different kinds of interfacing..:D I have to look where I can buy these special things in Germany. Thanks for the Video :)
A sewing or bag pattern will often ask for an interfacing by number, say SF-101 and as I'm trying to buy on line I have no idea what I'm looking for . Is there a list of these numbers and what the interfacing is i.e., whether it's for dressmaking, bag making or for something else?
8 years later, still new people like me finding this video! Thanks for sharing!
Gluing the lightweight interface over the heavy/firm one is genius! Exactly the tip I needed for my current project!
It's sad that the Pellon website doesn't have anywhere near the information about their own product that you provide here. Such a comprehensive education you provide here. Thank you so much!
Rhonda Rands I agree. I tried the Pellon website before coming here.
I agree 100%

I have the same problem here in NJ. Thank goodness for this video!
This has been the BEST demonstration of interfacing I have ever seen on RUclips or any other platform. For that, I have subscribed and liked. It is a good reference to rewatch when investing in bag ideas. Thanx.

One of the most useful tutorials on different type of interfacing that I have come across. Thank you.
Your wonderful instructional video far far surpasses all the many I have watched on interfacing. I finally feel like I can now choose and order some that will apply to the job. Thank you ever so much!
Thank you for this! I can see this video is a few years old but the information is timeless!

That was so helpful! I'm a new sewist & asked my mom about interfacing and she didnt know- She's been sewing since childhood!
Best video of interfacing I have seen...just what I needed. Kudos to you and your demonstrations as well
Where have you been all my life!?!? THIS is what I've been looking for. Thank you so so much!!
Thank you very much for explaining the different interfaces. I wasn't sure about which one to use for my project but now it makes more sense.
Definitely the best teaching I’ve seen. Tfs

so glad it was useful for you Sheria.
yes it was. Again, thanks
Appreciate that information as I was not sure about the differences for bag making. Watched before I started thank you very much.
