Very good 👍 i actually watched over 4 videos of polising resins but i never understood what they used. This is a good tutorial for beginners like me that doesn't know anything about sand papers n polishing
I hate polishing so bad I will paint resin on it! And a really good uv nail polish will work too!! Just go easy on how much you paint on at a time so there are no streaks
Yes you can, but in this video like he said he is pressing hard to shine, that is because with epoxy you should go up to a even higher gritt not only 3000, after 3k ya should go gritt 5000 6000 8000 10000, and then use the polish, then you will have even a more shine result as this one
Thank you! My epoxy resin is supposed to be glossy to begin with, the side facing the mould comes out matte while the side facing and drying in the air comes out perfectly glossy... Does one has to use a specific mould in order for it to come out glossy?
Yeah, some molds will give a gloss finish. Depends on the type of mold material and the part that was used to make the negative. Some releasing agents used on the part can also effect the molds texture. You may also find that molds may go more matte over time as they get heavy use or if you cast more abrasive or corrosive compounds like concrete or polyester resin.

Hey there, I use the Dremel to work on the overpour part of my piece and now I really need to sand at a finer grit with my Dremel. Can you explain what the next grits I need to use on my Dremel? I plan on using the ultra gloss you suggested
If you dont go up to a super high grit you won't get a glass like shine. You have to sand up to at least 2000 grit. Depending on your project you may be able to do a flood coat.
@@colescreations6680 So basically it means that its either we dont touch the resin piece at all (basically its okay and has no problems after making it) or if we do we have to start all the way from coarse sandpaper to fine in order to get it back to a nice gloss?
@@nigelgoh1362 if you don't want to do this because it can be super annoying I recommend getting a mold that has a glossy surface. That will insure the piece comes out glossy or if it's a flat piece you can always dome the resin on top.
@@seraphimstep8443 I personally have not had any lick with that one. I stick with Hut ultra gloss. That's will give you the best results in my personal experience.
Try using grits with no more than a 60 grit jump. Clean throughly between grits, anything above 240 grit and you are polishing the surface. 3M has really good sanding products and polishing products too.
I'm really appreciate all the detailed information, exactly what I've been looking for.

Thank you for taking the time to teach others.
Excited to try the products you recommended. I knew the sanding process but that was it. Lol
Your welcome. The polish is what really does the trick.
Thanks for this insightful video.
Thank you, it's really helpful
Im gald this helped you out.
This was super helpful, thank you!
😁
Can you explain y u have to do so many different sandpapers?
Yes, you have to go through all the grits of sanding to get the smoothest possible surface to get a high polish.
Thanks for this. Can you do this with UV resin as well?
Yes you can, but in this video like he said he is pressing hard to shine, that is because with epoxy you should go up to a even higher gritt not only 3000, after 3k ya should go gritt 5000 6000 8000 10000, and then use the polish, then you will have even a more shine result as this one

You can also get the higher grit sandpaper at auto parts stores

My piece still stayed cloudy looking even after i polised and buffed it,, what can i do to fix that? Im using flitz polish
In the link in the description I have the polish to use. I've never had luck with the flitz polish.
Does it stay shiny. if you make a gift for someone will it get dull again?
too much work, it would be easier to put thin coat of resin
It definitely is a lot of work but not all projects can done with a flood coat.
Can any polish be used? Like that suitable for plastic or cars too?
The polish i use in the video is the only polish ive gotten to work and get the shine how i wanted. I haven't had luck with any other polish.
@@coles481 thanks ☺️
Does the shine dull out in time
Ot that I've seen
This was helpful, thank you so much
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful.
What are you making shiny please
Im sorry but i don't understand what you are asking.
How long will this stay shining ?

I don't use a dremel. I sand by hand and all the grits i use are in the video. There maybe a way to use a dremel but im not sure of them.
Great job! Have you ever tried using epoxi over fabric, like embroidery or sequin?
Oh no, i haven't done that.
@@colescreations6680 Ok, thank you. I would like to try that...
Hi, how long do you sand for with each different paper?
There is no set time, i just sand until i feel like i got every spot then i move on to the next.
@@colescreations6680 Thank you, I will give this ago. 😊👍
Do you use the same buffing on clear pieces as well?
Yes, I do.
Does it work on uv resin?
I have not tested this on UV resin so I'm not entirely sure if it would.
If you apply RESIN to the object, won't it shine just as much?
Excellent 👍 but could do without the music which is difficult for those of us with hearing impediment.
Try meguiars plastic polish then come back
If your talking about the stuff for cars it didn't work for me at all.

Is it still possible if I only go up to 400?

@@coles481 yeah thanks, I tried to just do 400 cuz it's the highest I have atm but ur right it's still super cloudy 🤦🏻♂️🤣
If you polish it without sanding would it become shiny too?
No, it won't be as glossy. You need to get the piece as smooth as you can first then polish.
Can I just use 220 grit only?
I would recommend going as high with the grits as you can. You need it extremely smooth in order to get the best shine possible.
@@colescreations6680 is it alright to skip grits?
@@nigelgoh1362 you wont get the same high gloss finish if you do. You need to go through all the grits to get the piece as smooth as possible.

Why does it takes a lot og sand paper to go through 😭
sanding is very frustrating work for me! every time I use polishing compound I scratch it through! :(

After drying it goes to previous one
Why not just wet sand the entire time instead of just after 600?

Supposed you don’t have all the different kinds of sandpaper then what
Too much work for a 10 dollar piece
Then don't do it. No one is forcing you too.
Way too much work to do
Then don't do it.
I did it myself thanks to Stodoys.
