    Happy Easter lovely Emma!
I really think you played this piece perfectly. The tempo, the pauses, the transitions, (especially the ones at 1:59 and 3:20) the dynamics, I really enjoy this cover! I´m sure Helen Jane Long will be very pleased. (I just assume she is going to watch this :))
Can´t wait to go on the Easter Hunt with you later :)

Another beautiful piece Emma. I just found my next iTunes purchase. Thank you for sharing. I can't express to you enough what watching you play and the pieces that you choose does for my desire to learn more. I have my next piano lesson on Tuesday, and after some practicing, I should be able to at least get a rough draft on the piece
"The Water is Wide" on to video. Also, I'm also going to record the very first piece that I wrote, and since I have no followers, you will be only person that will see it. Thank you for being my inspiration. You truly are a very talented player. Happy Easter!!!!!

Hey Kenny, thanks for your comment. It brought a huge smile to my face :) I'm so honoured and pleased to hear that you are recording your very first piece. It is so great to hear you could feel inspired by my playing. Support from followers like you is an inspiration to me in return. You know you will have my support on your channel. In fact, I have just subscribed in anticipation to hear your upload. Good luck! :)

Hi Emma, I tried recording my piece over the weekend and since the only recording device I have is my phone, the sound quality was absolutely horrible. I just can't post something that sounds so bad. Any tips???

Wow, three comments in a row... are you sure they're all for me?
Thank you for your music. OK, it might not be yours, but it's yours, you make it yours, and then there're those times in which it's truly your music of your own.

Woops, sorry. I don't know how that happened. That's really kind of you. I try to put my own impression on the pieces I play, even though it upsets some people because it isn't note to note like the original. It's always better to be true to yourself :)

I love when people nail it note to note. A few years ago I went to this concert by a Deep Purple tribute band called Hush (I have two videos from that concert on my channel but the sound is awful at best). Ian Paice, the actual drummer from Deep Purple, was playing with them that night, which was the reason why I went with some friends, otherwise I surely wouldn't. One of those friends is a big fan of D.P., a real true fan. Well, we were amazed because they were playing the songs from Made In Japan not only note to note, but even making the exact same mistakes (only these weren't mistakes at all) and live jams and adaptations from that concert. My friend and I looked at each other in utter disbelief :D
But that being said, you "only" have to be a good player to do that. It's hard, it's admirable, it's whatever you may think, but it's "only" that.
It's much, much harder to "make a song your own". Not only you have to be a really good musician, but also a creative person, with your own personality and, let's say, your own seal. And it's risky. It's not in the hands of everybody being able to make "One" from U2 and "Hurt" from NIN your own just like Johnny Cash did back in the day. But when that is achieved... it's much, much better than nailing the song.
And needless to say, I love the way you give your own touch to whatever you play quite more often than not.

Thank you so much. I totally understand your view. It is a real skill to perfectly mimic someone else, but making something your own can be extremely difficult to pull off. In that sense, Johnny Cash was a musical genius. :)
I don't think I'm brilliant at it. Usually, a piece will remind me of something or put a certain thought in my head. It might not be what the original artist intended but it helps me to interpret the music in my own way. For me, that isn't difficult, it is actually helpful and makes it easier to play. I'm not sure there is any right way to play anything. There are certainly lots of wrong ways to play things though!
