    Thanks for this! My sons on an elimination diet for his eczema and his non dairy items do not contain enough protein. It's nice to know it's okay to add some to his DF yogurt, milk or smoothie!

    Thank you for the information. My two boys (ages 10 and 12) are both about 20-30lbs over weigh. I'd like to incorporate more protein in their diet ( historical eating habits were mainly carbohydrates) to a) help them stay satiated with fewer calories, and b) help them develop lean muscle as we are beginning to be more active as a family. What would you recommend when using protein powder for a child in this scenario?

    I am confused bc I saw you say that kids need 1/2 their weight in grams of protein per day (my son is 68 lbs, so he would need 34 grams)...another dr I was looking at for growth in kids says it equal grams of protein to weight (68 grams of protein for 68 lb child). Can you explain why an extremely active child would only need 1/2 their body weight in grams of protein?
