I bought mine 2 months ago, black on steel bracelet. Superb watch! All those little shortcomings from 1st gen are removed and now this is really polished product. Enjoying it every day.
I bought a black dial one this morning. I went in the boutique thinking I would not like it because of the faux patina… but boy oh boy I don’t see it as faux patina but more like a color scheme/design. It is so beautiful in the flesh. I like it a lot more than my SMP.
When I first seen this watch on line I did not like it, I felt the inboard numbers just looked off, but after seeing it in person it was love at first sight. This watch is drop dead gorgeous!! Simply put it is pure class.
What a beautiful watch. I was looking at the 39.5 PO but I’ll have to check this one out. I love the simplicity of this. Definitely need to check this one. As always, thank you for a great review.
I own this watch blue dial and also have the new no date submariner 124060. Seamaster is more comfortable on the wrist and it gets more wrist time for me.
Audrey showed me both of those watches. I was tempted… But since I already own the SMP 300, I held back. I did promise her, that my next Omega purchase, would be coming from Miller’s. So many wonderful choices
My all time favorite watch is the omega sea master 300 with the bronze body and gold trim with a black bezel and black dial I’ll take this watch over any Rolex any day of the week I love this watch
I really like that they are including the jump hour feature on a no-date option. I think a jump hour is helpful, but not if it means you have to jump the hour a bunch to change the date ever other month. This watch is pure class
@@BruceWilliams For a watch with a date I think it depends on how often you travel. There are 5 months with less than 31 days, if you travel less than 3 round trips with a time zone change (one each way giving 6 time changes) then I could see the argument. But even then if you let your power reserve go dead frequently then it again becomes a pain to set the date. So it really depends on your lifestyle I guess. On a no-date watch like this though it becomes a lot more enticing. For me my ultimate travel watch is my “The Citizen” model that is solar, perpetual calendar, high accuracy, and has a jumping hour. That is the perfect combo of complications/features to make it a great grab and go watch
Bruce you know my view... I love this watch in blue! I think is one of the best, side by side with NTTD and a little bit behind the Spectre edition :-)
I’m biased as I have the Spectre - it’s nearly perfect. The 12hr bezel is visually the best balanced, and I prefer the all brushed bracelet. But compared to the prior “standard” 300, I’d go with this updated one.
I already own SMP300 so to switch it up a little I purchased this Heritage 300 version with Blue face on a Blue Alligator leather strap & folding clasp..clean & simple
@@BruceWilliams thank you sir for the reply. I am really wanting to get the Omega Railmaster blue dial 40mm. I need to fine a way to move a watch or things first. All the best to you and family.
Great review, as always. This is my favorite version of the 300: perfect size, retro simplicity, a great everyday watch and a strong alternative to a Rolex. Thanks for the review.
Everyone always seems to compare the SMP 300 to the submariner when this watch is actually more in its class. I would like to see a comparison of this watch and the black bay 58
Prefer mine, the previous model - it's more faithful to the original. Don't like the Panerai numerals, the awful lollypop second hand or the bubbled crystal. Honestly think this is a backward step by OMEGA. Still a very cool watch, just prefer the more original authentic design of the previous model. Cheers Bruce 👍🏻👍🏻
The Omega Seamaster 300 Heritage is my grail watch and I assume the titanium version is even better without that conical crown. I love the old style of diver watch with a bigger case size.
Many thanks for sharing your thoughts Bruce. Some interesting views. If there was something that I would have preferred it would be a return to the pointer on the seconds hand and consider a ceramic bezel insert but with a radial brushing or micro stipple surface effect (to simulate the look of an aluminium (yes I'm from England :-) ) bezel insert) but keep the lume. The sandwich dial looks awesome. Only minor niggles that certainly would not put me off checking one out at the AD. After all we can't please everyone and that's what makes the hobby interesting and fun.
I've got the previous gen of this watch which also has the polished steel next to the color part of the bezel. I have worn this watch hard every day for 7 years. Scratches all over the case and bracelet, but not one scratch on the steel on the bezel.
I think these are fantastic pieces. My preference would be to have printed indexes versus the sandwich dial but that's a very minor item. the movement is fantastic and such a classy looking diver.
One of my pieces I tried on at the meet-up. I'm torn between this and the GO SeaQ 39.5 - would love to hear your opinions comparing those two, as I know you've had time with each. My personal new Omega (the CK 859) just arrived and Brad did a video on it today. Check it out! It's a beauty!
I watched the video. It looks perfect CONGRATS :) As far as this vs a SeaQ... The GO is a nicer watch in terms of fit, finish, and detail work. Better bracelet too. Wears quite a bit smaller than the Omega. The SM300 has better presence, better lume, and some features of the movement I like better (silicon hairspring, time zone feature). Its also a good amount less at retail. I would pick the Omega myself
@@BruceWilliams i've tried both at my retailer and i would disagree that GO has better fit and finish. Yes, it's smaller so it fits better on smaller wrists (but i don't care since mine is bigger), but the finish is at the same level as Seamaster 300, not better. And the price difference is not justified at all. Omega is 6500 EUR and GO 10 000 EUR. For 3500 EUR more you get inferior depth rating (200 compared to 300), inferior caliber and bracelet that does not taper. So, the choice is pretty logical and easy....Omega every given Sunday:)
@@adrianobanak2824 good feedback from you both. I haven't had the opportunity yet to see the GO in person. I did try on the Omega recently and absolutely loved it. The sandwich dial and lume is a big pro for the Omega I think. Price wise the GO is more, but not as far apart as the MSRP suggests. I could get the GO on a rubber strap for about the same price as the 300 on bracelet - then add a bracelet later. My point being that basically the price difference is the cost of the bracelet. Part of me is pulled towards the GO for some brand diversity (I have 3 Omegas already). The 21mm lug width on the 300 bothers me a bit. I wish Omega offered an OEM rubber for the 300 to alleviate this (their rubber straps are terrific). That said, it looks great on bracelet or NATO, and I think an Artem sailcloth strap is a perfect aftermarket option.
@@BruceWilliams thanks for the feedback Bruce. My plan is to swap my original BB58 for the 925 silver version, to open up the "black dial diver" slot in my collection for one of these 2. I really love Omega as a brand, and already own 3 now (Speedy Pro, Blue SMPc, and now the CK 859). So the "pull" for the GO is definitely partially for the sake of some brand diversity in my collection. That said, it's hard to deny what you love, and I love Omega. As a big strap junky the 21mm width bothers me, but it could be alleviated if I could find a good rubber strap for the 300. It seems that options like Zealande cover just about every other Omega but I don't see any for this. Really wish there was an OEM rubber available from Omega.
Omega should stick to this model. I know the Seamaster 300 diver "james bond" is maybe more iconic, but honestly this model is the only model among any other models and brands that can go hand to hand with the class and sophistication of the Rolex Submariner!
Personally I preferred the previous model. It looked more masculine. The lollipop hand doesn't work for me. I think the rado captain cook has a similar look and at 2k is way cheaper. Also the seiko sla043 is nicer at 4.5k , albeit it doesn't come with a bracelet. You also have the bb58 at around 3k , so there are plenty of alternatives . The fact that you can pick up a slightly used seiko sla043 for under 3k , is my choice any day of the week. Its just a better looking watch in my opinion.
It's a fabulous watch, I tried it on yesterday. Absolutely beautiful, but OVERPRICED. Omega knows it. They are asking too much, they gotta compete better than this.
@@BruceWilliams Here's my take: (great video btw, Bruce), Omega is asking 6,500 for this watch. I was staring down right at it, with my Black Bay 58 sitting there, which is 3500. Bruce... Is there any wonder why so many people are pocketing 3,000 and just buying a Tudor these days? If you want a vintage inspired watch, with a good movement and excellent polishing, why wouldn't you just save 3K, or go pick up a Rolex if you need better name recognition?
@@ViolinistWilliam if you consider the Seamaster 300 vs BB58 as you suggest, there are a number of things the Omega does better, as it should at twice the price! But to me the advantages are: -the superior lume (on the rotating bezel, the BB58 has no lume whatsoever on the bezel numerals, whereas the SM300 is well lumed on the dial AND the bezel) -the display caseback -METAS certification -more elegant bracelet (no faux rivets) -quick micro adjust available on the Omega bracelet (no quick microadjust for BB58) Now whether all of those advantages is worth $3500 is up to the buyer, but for ME and many others they definitely are.
