    I have this exact watch on a bracelet and I love it. I bought it as a place holder while I wait probably 2 years for a Submariner. After having this watch a week I changed my name request from my Rolex AD from a Sub to a GMT as I no longer need a diver. I love everything about it other than the thickness (could do without the view case back and slimmed it down 1-1.5mm) and the polished center links on the bracelet. I looked at the blue and black side by side wanting to like the black more but the dial seemed to pop more with the blue. That being said there is no wrong choice (other than the leather strap). I think this watch is 90+% of what the Submariner is and I got mine with a 10% discount so it was 2/3 the price of the Rolex. Great review, keep them coming Guy!

    Its 14mm because of the domed glass. Its the same thickness as the seamaster 300 professional.

    This was a really excellent review. I really enjoyed it, and not just because I bought this watch.
    This piece is so underrated, which I love, because it makes mine a standout conversation starter. I agree with you on a number of the specifics you raised.. right down to the lollipop hand. It’s the only element I don’t especially like, but I have a feeling it’ll grow on me. I bought this watch in my late 20s as my first luxury timepiece, and as an honest, workhorse, lifetime companion. I intend to leave it to my children.
    I had been lusting after it for years before the right occasion struck, and I got so lucky because I ended up buying about 6 months after they released the newer, cleaner 2021 model. Aside from the ceramic bezel, it was upgraded in so many categories.
    It’s my first, and I love it.

  • @mannycalavera2335
    @mannycalavera2335 2 года назад +5

    The most attractive from the current Seamaster line-up for me. The one thing I would have wished they kept from the last generation of this watch is the ceramic bezel. I also like that the old version kept the faux patina on the hour markers and not the bezel or Arabic numerals.

    I love this watch design and it has even been improved with the female end links and that beautiful lollipop second hand, I really like it. I just wish this watch had less polished surfaces on top of the lugs and the bracelet links.

    I own this one (black on steel bracelet) so someone could call me biased, but i would say it is the best Omega diver for every day and most occasions. It's far better than SMP 300 in every sense. Seamaster PO 43,5 mm is equally good, but since it's a chunky boy and looks like a true sports watch you can not pull that one in more formal occasions. So, to conclude, YES Seamaster 300 (2nd gen) is the best Omega diver.

  • @typebflieger
    @typebflieger 2 года назад +12

    This is my favorite of the current Omega divers. The second hand is not my favorite, but I’d live with it if they could come up with a slimmer version of this in 39mm. It’s just a hair too big for an everyday diver, IMO, but pleasantly restrained and under the radar compared to their other divers.

    • @JustBlueFish
      @JustBlueFish  2 года назад +3

      Yeah my favorite too, and a 39mm model would be awesome wouldn't it?

    • @Vess_Iossifov
      @Vess_Iossifov Год назад

      I agree on the 39mm version. On the other hand, the case is actually 40mm and the bezel is 41mm. This would mean 38mm case and 39mm bezel. I assume this would be a bit small for this thickness

  • @cody4586

    Love the review. Just wanted to point out at around 6:20 in regards to faux patina. Patina only refers to the oxidation (aging process when left in open air) of materials over time. So distress and/or damage don’t apply to “patina”

    A great review Guy. I have to agree with your comment on the lollipop second hand, the old arrow pointer would have been much better in my humble opinion. I love the old sandwich dial arrangement and sizing is fine for me. I also like that this model is just enough different from the mainstream and keeps some individuality. To be honest I think I would prefer the older model aesthetic but that's just me, just add the sandwich dial and that would have landed on my wrist. Who knows I might lean to this newer version but not just yet.

    Bought the previous model a few months ago (used) for myself, an Aqua Terra for my Dad and a vintage Ladymatic for my sister ( Xmas). Just sent mine off for a service ( £485 & 13 weeks!) . Point is I chose the previous model because it's closer to the original. I don't like the numerals ( too Pan) & really dislike the bubble crystal - too skindiver style and looks too vunerable to knocks. Agree with you the second hand looks nicer pointed- more precise. Still a seriously cool watch tho.

    I think these are really nice, and probably one of the nicest Omegas I tried on at the A.D. From a design perspective, I wish they also had a version available with white lume, minute markers to the 20 minute mark, and an applied logo. I really think that would make for a more affordable (and available) Submariner alternative. Omega may think the regular Seamaster is the competitor to the Sub, but I think this matches up better from a clean design, size, and feature perspective. I'm undecided on the lollipop seconds hand, which is the same as what they did on the 007 variant. I can't really begrudge the 21mm lugs, as even Rolex went down that path with the updated Sub. Maybe I would be the only one interested in such a variant of this Seamaster 300 line, but I don't think I would be.

  • @cheemomugdoo799
    @cheemomugdoo799 2 года назад +2

    I am a big fan of this watch as well, with a few exceptions. The lollipop seconds hand just doesn't do it for me. If I were to own this watch, on it's first service I would have them swap out the previous model's second hand which was a pointer. I would lose the sapphire case back. Sure the movement is nicely finished, but I don't need to see it, and a metal back could probably shave off a few millimeters. Other than that it's just such a nice clean look that could be a great everyday watch that would look great for most occassions.

    For me the thickness is the sole drawback to this watch. I’d think a non patina lume on a black dial would make it truly perfect with a slim down but you can’t have everything I suppose. I don’t mind it but some do. The lumed bezel and sapphire caseback are things that stand out over the sub

    Hey man, thanks for the cool video! I've recently gotten into watches, and am now looking to buy my first proper watch. I was hoping you or someone in the comment section could give me some suggestions from personal experience.
    I want this watch to stay with me and keep functioning properly I thought I'd buy an automatic watch, with sapphire glass and 10 bar of water resistance (or higher), for around 300 euro/dollars (but I would go up to 500 should I really like the watch).
    So far I've set my sights on a Citizen NH9120, since on paper it has all the specs I want, looks cool and has a cool titanium coating. But there are little to no reviews or videos on the internet I've been able to find, so there's not an easy way for me to check whether the good specs on paper are as good as they seem.
    Does anyone have any experience with this watch or another one that checks the boxes that they would really like to recommend?
