I am an Apple guy but I have the previous generation Fire Tablet 8" and it is indeed a terrific budget content consuming device. A big plus is the ability to add inexpensive SD cards. I load mine up with Netflix Shows and books by Audible for air travel.
A few things worth mentioning: 1. You are able to turn the tablet into a mini echo show by either plugging it into a dock (sold seperately) or plug it into a power source and find the option among the quick settings or by having Alexa turn on/off Show Mode. 2. Fire HD8 2024 has3GB RAM if ya get the 32GB version, 4GB RAM if ya get the 64GB version. 3. Not surprisingly, AI is coming to quite a few of their older tablets, as well as their newer ones. Was reading about those on PCMag.
Am still using the amazon fire 5th gen from 2015. I didn't realise it was that old until I decided to buy a new one it's still in good condition, screen undamaged, but it's very slow got a black Friday deal from littlewoods Catalogue £63 was £129 for the 32gb version
Just bought the previous version when it was on sale. You can't beat the price. It's a process to install Google play but for the tenth of the price for ipad it does most of the features and apps you use daily.
Just a quick note to buyers, the screen isn't "full HD" as the host mentioned, but closer to 720p, which is colloquially referred to as HD. Full HD (or FHD) is 1920x1080, and this tablet is 1280x800. Still the display is reasonably sharp with the smaller 8" screen. Another tip for this tablet is to get a screen protector immediately, because this screen does not have an oleophobic coating, and as such is a fingerprint magnet. A screen protector helps with this immensely, especially one with a matte finish (which has the extra benefit of glare reduction).
Going to get it and give my android tab to my brother for Christmas if it 40 to 50 total buy there i use to play app game no more i have to look into to see if Google docs and sheets works
It really comes down to the price and what you're going to use it mostly For me, my 2020 Fire HD 8 is mostly used for manga reading and it's more than enough for that purpose
@@kellymendez That's not the point, I shouldn't have to fap around with a tablet, or phone to have a function it already should out of the box, which is why I buy Google Pixel phones with stock Android, and Walmart ONN tablets that have near stock Android builds.
You can find the Fire HD 8 tablet on Amazon with our affiliate link here: amzn.to/3zLcV3S

I believe with the most recent update they took away this feature
I bought it off of Amazon for $59. It could charge a little faster but other than that it's not bad.

I love the aux option on devices.
It is a pain to lose power with wireless headphones 😢
I have had a 10" one mounted in my car for a very long time. Slap in a good sized sd card and ya got your own "little" drive-in in your driveway.lol😜"
I love mine I use it as a color kindle…battery is pretty good of course not better than my paperwhite
Allready have the 11” Fire max tablet and like it
My audible app is installed, but not on main page , how can I get in main page ?
Is this suitable for use as a kindle?
Yes
You mentioned a camera. Is this device Zoom / Teams compatible? Thank you.
Yes on Zoom I do it often you may want to check on teams
@lukebouma9292 I just checked and the Zoom app is not available for my 15 in Echo Show. Neither is Teams. Thank you.

I have this one
I like the shape of your head.
Wish it had google play Store
There is work around on RUclips to load the Google Playstore; I loaded it onto my 2022 model. Might be worth a RUclips search.
3 GB of ram in 2024, will that even run a web browser nowadays?
Yes it doesn't have all the Google crap. Google apps suck up the RAM.
unfortunately running silk is super slow on day 1. it'll be even slower as time goes on. @@coolerking7427
iPhone XR only has 3gb ram and got the latest iOS.
I bought it off of Amazon for $59
I bought the last two 8+ devices because it had wireless charging. Unfortunately I won't be buying this one.
3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and no Google Play Store on an Android based tablet in 2024 are all red flags for me to say NOPE!!!
I have a fire tablet with the google play store that i side loaded and it works great
