    @opeyemi Godis I am not a nurse but i can say that your analysis is biased. In your presentation, you only mentioned what an entry-level nurse earns, not mid-career, not senior level. All professions have entry-level positions. Most if not all of the professions you talked about don't start with such salaries at an entry-level position. As you ascend the professional ladder, your salary increases, although the rate of ascension on the professional ladder viz a viz salary increment now differs depending on your type of profession. The salaries you stated for all those other professions are what they actually earn at mid-career/senior positions and not junior positions. Nurses may not be the most paid in the UK but it's still one of those professions that you get into and you can be confident that you have job security. Thumbs up for all nurses out there!

    • @The_Dikes
      @The_Dikes 2 года назад +4

      Totally agree with you Fakua, those salary ranges from 25k - 100k are there in nearly every profession but is entirely dependent on level of experience / seniority in that career path. Perhaps it is more difficult to get through that ladder in a Nursing profession, I am not an expert, I don’t know but there are BAs who earn as low as 25-30k in the Uk and as high as 100k ( maybe mid-senior level BAs or Contractors) but the idea that these are entry level earnings is simply not true. There is a lot of context around wages including what type of industry or sector you are in.

    • @Profitfromcoaching
      @Profitfromcoaching 2 года назад +7

      Very valid, pretty much all the job types mentioned have lots of people working and earning less than £30K a year. And there are many career paths where you can earn more than nurses. Bottom line is choose the career path that aligns with your strengths and please find mentors and sponsors, develop an intentional career plan and ensure you maximise the time, energy and money you invest in the marketplace. There are top earners and low earners in pretty much every career. I know too many law graduates who never even get to practice and they end up doing completely unrelated jobs. And a few who've gone on to build phenomenal careers. What I'm confused about is why so many seem to opt for nursing when there's so much more out there. No problem if thats what excites you but there's so much more to explore.

      Honestly, I find this video very offensive. Thank you for your comment. As a nurse, the joy I derive when I care for my patients and they get well and go home healthy gives me joy.
      Every profession have their entry point, her points are without figures and facts.
      After tax, as a ward nurse, I do have take home of 2200- 2400 sometimes cos if you do 6 night duty a month, you earn more, if you do weekend, you earn more.
      Aside my part-time job weekly pay(bank shift) that if I do 3 or 4 a month, after tax I can have close to 800 or 900.
      How many companies employ lawyers readily especially from African countries as much as NHS pay?
      I opined that you are one of those people that went for nursing cos of the money not for the love and passion for humanity, its a big shame to hear that you are a nurse and you spat this from your mouth.
      Encourage people to get side hustle and multiple source of income not to rubbish nursing by saying they earn 'meagre'
      Within 8 months of working as a nurse in the UK, I know how much I jave saved and spent in helping others.
      You shouldn't be saying this at a time that where is a 'Macedonian call' for nurses in all NHS hospital due to shortage of staff.
      Do you also know that the more you earn, the more tax you pay? So those you said earn upto 50-60k per annum, ask them if they don't also pay upto about 20-25k for tax yearly.
      So what's the difference?
      I will pi k this and report it to NMC that you are as a nurse in made a video like this.
      Shame!!

    When starting as a nurse in the nhs I agree with you that the pay is not that much, but get thru a ladder to obtain training and get into specialised area. Now I would say with more knowledge and hands on experience, I earn more than average(not disclosing). And nursing are currently in demand everywhere either a work from home or in a hospital setting. NHS is not the only place, there is also private hospitals that pay more aside from being in an agency. But all this takes time just like other careers, if you are an ITU/HDU or other special fields in nursing the pay is really not bad. Good content though, keep it up 👍🏻

    Hello Opeyemi, like the quality of your video. However, I think you need to do more research on your topic. You have not been fair to health care service in the UK. Salary range for new entry for nurses is between £25,657 - £35,000. We also have different level and types in nursing field. There are nurses who are earning £60,000 per annum.
    As for the Law professionals (Barristers and Solicitors) it all depends on the type of law - corporate law, family law, property law etc. There are lawyers in their entry level who earn £25,000 per annum. There are law graduates who are still looking for training but couldn't find any. Also, UK are only employing professionals from other countries into only hard to fill roles in the country which law, project management and others you mentioned are not part of it.

    Great video. Another 'easy' profession to get into in the UK is CBT Therapy. The NHS will pay for you to complete the 9-month qualification. While you train you get paid £36,000 then once qualified, you start at Band 7 - £40,100. As a nurse, it would be very easy for you to get into. With a nursing qualification, you can also get onto the training...just make sure you have mental health work experience. As a CBT Therapist, you can make about £90,000 a year with agencies or private work.
    There is a lot of information out there about CBT Therapy. Sometimes it's called High-Intensity Therapist.

So many professionals in nursing earn so much more than you mentioned. You can actually compare professions without being judgemental. You a nurse? Nahhhh you must be health care support worker

    Yaaaaassssss! You could do project/programme management in the UK Health Security Agency (formerly known as PHE). I’ve seen jobs there wanting people from a nursing background (£50-60k starting). Register at Civil Service Jobs and set up alerts. I’ve also seen similar roles in NHS (but, they wanted more PM qualifications). I would also recommend doing the APM PMQ (project management qualification). You can purchase their self-study guide then sit the exam. That will definitely help you to get your foot in the door. Interesting yes of course many more professions earn more than nurses in the UK including brick layers road builders, plumbers electricians and other non professional and professional categories However the key issue for Africans in the UK is what professions will most likely hire Blacks and retain them in big numbers? Comes back to nursing care and health profession mainly Most Blacks in the UK even though qualified as lawyers project managers etc do not get opportunities in these higher paying jobs. Nursing however is nearly guaranteed and Blacks are expected to work in these professions. So really it's a matter of access. Racism denies many qualified Africans and Blacks access to higher paying professions outside nursing. Let's understand WHY many Choose nursing and I think it's not because the profession pays well. It's a well established fact that nurses in UK have been demanding higher wages. Many have quit the profession because of low wages or moved to countries such as the US where they earn more

They just don't finish Uni and earn that amount in ICT and the rest. With law its even worse as depending on what one chooses, if you have an accent you may find it difficult to be certified. A lot goes into all this. There are people who are just security personnel in international or big organisations who earn 40k plus depending on the shifts they also do. So this presentation unfortunately is very flawed and people need to do their own research too. That being said she has at least given some people ideas and something to think about. Accounting is very lucrative in the UK, even with your ICAN and work experience , especially if you are in the big 4 in Nigeria, you can easily relocate and get a job in big 4 accounting/audit in the UK. If you now add certification like CISA you are hot cake. If you now enter Canada ehn..moneeeeyyy... There is money in nursing as a registered nurse and you float your care agency in the UK, that s the reall money. All the best in your choice

      Unfortunately, nurses aren’t well paid in the UK. I tell people, if you want to make money as a nurse, go to America. UK is better for work life balance not for becoming wealthy. Thanks for your comment Josset.

    The NMC requires student nurses to complete 2300 hours of clinical placement while training (NMC, 2019), however it is up to the individual universities to decide how this should be included. I don't know why the UK nurses are paid far less than other industrialised advanced countries. Uk is the 5th largest economy in the world from 2021 research study.
    The possibility the following countries I going to mention pay far more than the UK is so annoying and alarming. The UK government needs to increase the salary of UK nurses to at least £35,000 to £38,000 per year.
    Nurse Salary per country
    1. Luxembourg $91,000
    2.USA $73,000

    • @OpeGodis
      @OpeGodis  2 года назад +1

      A lot of nurses prefer going to America where they will earn a lot. UK government needs to do something about the pay-scale for nurses. It’s so sad.

    NHS is above 27,000 and not 25k. Also most nurses add agency jobs or just agency and earn up to 6k -8k monthly.

    Good video but please cut out the repetitive and irritating use of "like", "like". Also, it would have been useful for you to balance what you've presented with the cost of living in the UK so that viewers in NGR who might get over-excited with the salary figures and think it's all a bed of roses can put it into perspective. The cost of living in the UK; especially in city centres is humongous. Most of the people in these jobs and with so called "high" salaries are in a rate race and can't save any money from their so called high salaries salaries due to the high cost of living and taxation.

    Nurses should not complain when there are other professional who put themselves at risk for Queen and country and get paid less than them..SAS soldiers' pay ranges from less than £25,000 a year to around £80,000, depending on their skills and rank. This compares with a basic £13,000 for privates in other regiments. Now nurses do you want to join the military????
