No HomeKit support is a complete fail. Surprised you featured this on Max Tech given that. In fact, it’s annoying that they say no support at this time”. They have made these sort of statements before only to never support HomeKit. Will stick with companies that support a secure ecosystem thanks.
I really love the fact that it’s 4K while solar powered and can run for months without sunlight. I do appreciate your reviews and thorough tests. 🙌🙌 That security case is clever and love its design.
I've had Eufy's 2K cameras and homebasae for a couple years now. It's fairly good but there's some serious issues too. The biggest one is that the activity zones simply DO NOT work! I have the spotlight camera on my garage and try to exclude the road and my deck but nope, I can draw a 3x3 activity zone and the thing picks up everything no matter what. Also it misses a lot of activity as well as bushes blowing in the wind give false positives. In addition the time to get the message to your phone can be delayed making it not real time. But for no subscription fee and something not really used for security but just to check on your home it's ok. Once you use this for a long period of time you'll find these flaws :)
@@ericacharles5492 Well, if a person is close enough to the camera it seems to not miss much but with that said if you have areas like a road where you don't want it recording everything that drives by there should be a way to exclude those areas. The software has "activity zones" which should define what the sensors record BUT they seem to do NOTHING and it's been that way from the start, no firmware has fixed this. In addition, I find a lot of "false" alarms from bugs, blowing branches, rain, etc. I also have a Browning wildlife camera, the type that people use for hunting and it does not go off falsely like the Eufy cams do and also seems to catch even a distant animal 100% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the Eufy system for what it is but I'd never rely upon it solely as a real security system. Also getting alerts on your phone can be delayed by quite a bit of time.
Great review, however, one big miss is HomeKit secure video, which eufy supports for previous generation cam. Will have to wait out until it’s supported.
I have a couple Eufy cameras included in my HomeKit setup. I’ve got one hooked to a solar panel and one is connected to power through an outdoor light fixture. They all work great along with my other HomeKit brands like Aqara and Logitech. Only downside using them with HomeKit is you can’t use the 2-Way audio feature with them and that sucks. Another nice thing about having it work with HomeKit is HomeKit secure video and it doesn’t count against my iCloud storage.
How will the solar work in winter when sun only is available some days for maybe 5 hours and otherwise shadow and frost on the solar panel? Winter may have -10 celcius +/-
Can you replace the battery after a couple of years as that battery will hardly charge most likely after a while, also it probably wont work where they have snow all winter? I think I see this product made only for warmer climates.
I had bought some other cameras and then I realized you need a monthly subscription. I bought a couple Eufy cameras, and they are great. I bought some much cheaper models, and the quality is perfect. They just work out of the box. Highly recommend
Two issues 1. Eufy cam 2/Pro did not auto change to dark mode. Had to turn on/off each night 2. Geolocation seldom work. Same as above, change manually
Do you mean the nightvision ? I have no issues with it even the outdoor light is switched on by a motion sensor the Cam 2 switches to IR nightvision and back to normal
What is the max distance the camera can be from the base? I'm thinking about getting some of these to capture vehicles and licenses plates of cars entering and leaving my complex.
Why are you using the plastic anchors when you're installing in wood? Those anchors are only meant for installation into stucco or concrete. Did the instructions say to do this?
@@MaxTechOfficial OK, I see. It's good enough for a test, although in a permanent installation I might suggest using a real wood screw instead, as most plastic anchors don't work all that well, even when used for their intended purpose. And yes, I have a small box full of free, included hardware that I've accumulated over time from various products because I switched them out for something better. 😄
Home kit compatibility? This product looks awesome, but no home kit compatibility is an issue. I realise it dumbs the video down to 1080HD, but some people like myself like the home kit integration, for example with my apple tv. Do you know whether home kit compatibility is coming as a later software update?
I have their cam pro 2 and using their solar panels. I have 2 locations to monitor. The internal batteries only last 2 maybe 3 years. I’m on my 4th cam.
I have a Eufy Solocam S40 which was the first built-in solar model and it's been working great for the last couple months since I installed. Use it to keep an eye on the yard at a vacation home and the battery stays charged despite there being quite a bit of unavoidable trees. Glad I only bought one of those, because I will likely get some of these.
I don't have the new camera yet, so I don't know. But the light on the S40 seemed quite strong, but I actually never looked at the light in person, only via the video feed.
what about if you don't have a good wifi signal, assuming the cameras connect to the base and then the base is maybe somewhere between the router and cameras and has a power supply this may help increase the range? Having a hub also puts less load on the router.
sometimes having a subscription means the camera is cheaper and if it responds fast it might be worth it if the subscription is only $4 a month though keeping in mind the price could go up later.
Unfortunately solar panels are really only useful in certain areas and orientations. I have four outdoor Eufy cameras, all of them hooked up to solar panels. Of those four, only one can be positioned to get enough sun while covering the areas I need them to while still staying within wireless range of the base station. While one hovers near 100%, the other three have fallen to ~60% in just a couple of months. And this was during the summer. Approaching winter, it would only get worse. Solar panels are useless in the shade of the house or trees, which in many cases is unavoidable. Odd that there was no discussion of HomeKit support. The Eufy cameras I have are all compatible with HomeKit Secure Video.
@@dvxAznxvb Not really. With my iCloud+ account that I had before I ever bought a camera, my videos are saved online without having to use internal storage, These videos don’t count against my 2TB plan, which is useful because some of my cameras don’t have a hub for saving those videos like Eufy’s indoor cams or my Eve and Aqara cams. The 1080p is just fine, even though those cameras are currently capable of 2K. It’s also far more efficient to control everything from one place rather than having to go to different apps for everything. The conveniences outweigh the higher resolution. If I were Eufy only with all devices using the HomeBase, I’d agree with you, but I have devices from many different brands.
@@techinrl9869 I've been using HomeKit Secure Video and my problem with it is that it only stores activity detected snippets of video for 10 days. This isn't really useful if you really have a real security issue--and need to access the videos much longer after the incident. You really need a continuous feed recorded to storage to look at later that is saved for a longer time. I think they could add this feature to HomeKit, but until then--something like this is an interesting backup to my existing HomeKit cameras. But it's still a bummer that there's no HomeKit support at all--it would be nice to at least get activity notifications from it.
But it doesn‘t have homekit support? I have the eufy cam 2C Pro system and the quality of FHD to 2K is not really difference. In the video i don‘t see a real difference to the 2C Pro either.
homekit takes all footage to 1080p thats what cam 2 pro says when you link to homekit if you read it apple wont allow such data usage to icloud to their servers 4k is more difference than 2k the zoom will be much more as well; i noticed eufy pro 2 zoom only has 2x zoom but when you have 4k sensor then you can zoom more without so much pixelation

I have mine setup wireless. We tend to loose power a lot because of being cut off due to fires. I have portable solar generators that can often keep my modem, base, and cameras working. Having two Homebase’s, 4 (365 days battery power) cameras and a doorbell in use for a year now I have to say I’m very happy with my eufy cameras. There are a few issues with the doorbell and my cousin experiences the same problem. Sometimes it won’t connect to the doorbell while it can perfectly connect to the camera next to it so not WiFi related and sometimes it misses human detection of people leaving my house and passing the doorbell. I absolutely love the cameras but cannot recommend the doorbell. Also responding door people at the door is too slow. So not happy with the eufy doorbell. The app is indeed great and simple to use as well. Talking through the cameras can be a bit weird but that’s not what they were made for in the first place so that’s ok. I should try out these new solar cameras. Eufy camera’s are great indeed 😊
I am thinking of upgrading from my Arlo system. I hate that it's cloud based and the delay in getting notifications and feeds. How quick is Eufy system when you are away from home?
the eufy has less delay than the arlo; its cause arlo has a trash system that need to be authenticated with their servers first then be transmitted with your network even if its local storage;the cam pro 2s was a better system overall but zoom and local storage were the pain points; i kept my arlo ultras instead to not use multiple apps but i want to switch eventually
This is Max replying (not Vadim who installed this system at his house and made this video). I don't have an Arlo, but another major brand and it takes twice as long to open up the live feed compared to this Eufy. Now I want to swap out my system which I have 5 cameras and costs $10 a month but this system has no monthly payment and is better in every way.
Silly question but is 120 seconds of recorded video enough? What if there's an incident happening outside and it cuts out just when I needed it to be recording? Does the recording continue immediately after the 120 seconds and so on? I'm new to this field so I'm curious and tempted by this kit. Thank you for the excellent review 👍
My camera (this is Max not Vadim who did the video) only records 60 second clips and most of the time its enough. I wish mine did 120 seconds like this Eufy that vadim now has set up. I'm most likely going to ditch my system which I already have 5 cameras and switch over since is so much better.
I read it only has a 30 feet range from camera to hub under ideal conditions, so if this is correct, pretty much the camera needs to be right next to hub. No thanks.
It’s actually useful for me since I currently use Arlo. The issue with arlo is I keep having to charge the battery periodically and doesn’t differentiate between animals and humans.
I saw on the website that it does but then a rep said it doesn’t but then he just said perpetual recording. I’m seriously thinking of upgrading if someone can confirm they record 24/7
theres hacks of doing similar things but you need to have some kind of constant power source first; and to have maximum record time; but the cooldown timer to rerecord is 30 seconds i believe
I install real camera systems for a living and believe me there’s no such thing as what he has. You can get these or something similar but you will eventually have issues. Wired is best. But for a house I can see why people go with these cause it’s hard to wire at a house
Yeah that’s great and all but doesn’t have any benefit for the people that put them in a covered patio facing their backyard or at the front door covered by the roof. So kind of a pointless benefit. You want cameras mounted in a discreet location, not out in the open.

The app is indeed great and simple to use as well. Talking through the cameras can be a bit weird but that’s not what they were made for in the first place so that’s ok. I should try out these new solar cameras. Eufy camera’s are great indeed 😊
It is not good in fog with IR on at night, but otherwise it is a good product.
Oh good I’ve been looking for something to get rid of my Nest and Ring.
This looks great, does it work with Apple Home?

Cant wait until Eufy release a camera with M1X chip!
They said they was?
HomeKit secure video???
it will dumb it down to 1080p cause of apple so it will be a waste
Discount don’t work for uk
I read it only has a 30 feet range from camera to hub under ideal conditions, so if this is correct, pretty much the camera needs to be right next to hub. No thanks.
no its much further assume how far your 5ghz network reachs outside and thats how far it will transmit
Can you have more than two cameras
yes you can have i think up to at least 8; the network technology they use is very robust with the base station
Convinced ❤😊
The fact that it doesn't have two factor authentication is just a dealbreaker honestly
That’s incorrect, Eufy has 2-factor. I can have it ask me for a SMS code every time I log on
where is your source?
Super impressive
Btw nice vid i will watch it till the end 👍
Not HomeKit compatible. I’d stay with Logitech circles for now.
Wow. This is for me 👍 Not needing to do the cables is a big deal.
Sticking with my Ubiquiti Camera G4 Pro.
Great video 😊
Awesome & Thanks :)
Your recent "infomercials" have been disappointing. Your objectivity appears compromised. Are you guys selling out?
Not sure why you comment like this. (a bot?) Just make a judgement without providing explanation or evidence is not fair.
@@frank_71598 Sure, blame the bots when someone states something with which you don't agree. lmao!
I gotta say agree with the comment. I am a big fan of yours, but this content is not that useful.
Yeah good point here
It’s actually useful for me since I currently use Arlo. The issue with arlo is I keep having to charge the battery periodically and doesn’t differentiate between animals and humans.
the amount of trackers in that app is ootw

Easy to setup and use
I assume this cannot record 24/7
I saw on the website that it does but then a rep said it doesn’t but then he just said perpetual recording. I’m seriously thinking of upgrading if someone can confirm they record 24/7
theres hacks of doing similar things but you need to have some kind of constant power source first; and to have maximum record time; but the cooldown timer to rerecord is 30 seconds i believe
itll be on my list when its at costco :)

I install real camera systems for a living and believe me there’s no such thing as what he has. You can get these or something similar but you will eventually have issues. Wired is best. But for a house I can see why people go with these cause it’s hard to wire at a house
If you change to stream in 4K, you will be able to zoom in 8x..
Hmmm … given latest info concerning eufy/anger lying about data privacy … should we expect more payed reviews from you?
Rawl plugs in a wooden post…….nah
Yeah that’s great and all but doesn’t have any benefit for the people that put them in a covered patio facing their backyard or at the front door covered by the roof. So kind of a pointless benefit.
You want cameras mounted in a discreet location, not out in the open.

Oh thank god, I’ve been looking to replace simplysafes garbage for a while now
why do I get nervous, when a live camera hooked is up to your ROUTER!
