- Labour have won the Blackpool South by-election after a huge swing from the Tories who narrowly avoided finishing in third place to Reform UK.
The by-election was triggered after The Times revealed that Scott Benton, the former MP, had offered to lobby ministers in exchange for money.
It marks the eleventh by-election defeat for the Conservatives since the last general election, on a night which has also seen a series of key councils fall to Labour.

@@Gary-le7dzEverything is getting worse therefore it will be even worse under Labour. Until we do something about illegal immigration nothing will get better. You cannot have uncontrolled immigration and a welfare state.
I agree immigration needs sorting , the Tory’s have a net migration of 400000 per year last 5 years , under labour it averaged under 10000 ….. as for costs the asylum seekers cost this country £6 million per day , to put that in context the uk Tory govt algae added on average £500 million PER DAY for the last 14 years , so asylum seekers cost just over 1% in comparison, yes it needs sorting but this is not anywhere near the main reasons the decline we have seen last 14 years
Reform are basically what we've had for the last 10 years. Failed experiments with low taxes and Brexit. If you like Reform then I imagine that you're really happy with how the country is now? :S
