I'm at a healthy midback length. Striving for waist length to show my friends and familia that mature hair naturalist CAN grow long healthy hair! Let's Go MD!❤
@@karenhorton148 Yeah, they still think it's a wig, since I use to wear them as a protective style and boy did it grow! Skeptics still aren't convinced no matter what!🙄
I am joining this challenge...aiming for BSL in the next 2 months. I am almost 3 years natural and at 13inches. For me to be at Waist length I have to be at 23 inches at my nape. 😂
Oh you got this!! Def health over length always! Check out my nape video if you haven't already. The link is in the description. Hopefully that can help some. xox
I Just wanted to update that the challenge was somewhat successful for me. I grew the normal amount of 0.5 inches of hair growth/month in most areas of my hair when I lately have been growing less than 0.5 inches a month or less. Surprisingly, I grew 2 inches in the front of my hair (which the front of my hair usually grows normally anyways) but lately my hair has been growing slow until I decided to take vitamins, eat healthy food choices 90% of the time, exercise and implement some of the techniques you've suggested in your videos while washing my hair. I say somewhat successful because the right side near my edges did not grow longer and the right back side of my hair grew but at a slower rate than the rest of my hair. So my success rate was about an estimated 80%.
Also I don't want to forget about God. I spent more time with him than I usually do so it was a factor into why my hair grew normally and slightly faster in some areas of my head than the past few months.
I have accepted the fact that as much as I try, I am never going to have waist length hair. It is clear that you can cut your hair several times a year, and your hair will always grow to waist length. I have accepted the fact that while regimen and good products play a role in length retention, genetics also plays a role.
If you would like to wash all the chemicals out your hair. Wash your hair with baking soda to get back your natural hair. Then use petroleum jelly on your hair from roots to ends to retain length. This works for all hair types. I do this. 💚 For more information about using baking soda and petroleum jelly, there's more videos on RUclips that discusses their benefits and how to wash your hair with baking soda successfully. If you prefer straight hair and you have naturally curly hair, try a silk press instead of relaxers or perms. 💚
My hair has not be waist length for at least 2 yrs! Do genetics play a factor in just about everything? Absolutely! Anyone who wants waist length hair has to focus heavy on retention…including me! Figuring out the “perfect” formula to holding onto your length is not always the easiest. The times that I’ve had my hair super long I was so strict with my regiment…the sec I get a little lazy I have to bust out the scissors. Thanks for watching my video Belinda! Hope to have you apart of the challenge!
@@MelissaDenise this is so true. I have become a little lazy myself and my hair is not growing/ retaining length as much. I know because I use a hair dye and I don’t see much growth on my roots. I only colour once a year, just so I can see the growth
The problem I have now with my natural hair is that I’m at the stage where I feel like my hair is stuck at one length I definitely see the healthy in my hair now I’m ready for the length retention at this point
I’m super late but I just restarted my natural hair journey. No more perks for me or heats at all. I already got me a shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, and leave in conditioner. I got an hair growth oil and some hair growth supplements as well. I’m happy for this journey I’m starting off again. I was natural for 4 years but I went and got a perm then I never was moisturizing my scalp at all, that’s the key is moisture plus stop manipulating your hair. I braid my hair down and normally leave a head band wig on top of it. I notice after a month of this my hair has grown. I don’t wash my hair 2-3x a week anymore as well because it’s not good. Thanks so much, one day my hair will be like this. I’m doing this routine for the next 2-3 years because I a want full, moisturizing, and long healthy head of hair.
Hey Girl! Thank you for recommending the protein drink. I noticed my hair acting up after I recently started on a plant based diet. I am thinking about doing the hair growth challenge. Thanks for the encouragement!
Water is Life❤️ Too bad most people I know don’t love it as much as I do. I appreciate your promotion of it. I turn 55 this year and No One believes my age…I guess it’s due to the fact that I have no wrinkles and maybe only 10 grey hairs. Looks like this will be a fun challenge🌹
You look gorgeous Ms. Karen!! Water is soooo life!!! Too many people don't understand how important it is for overall health. Annnnd I wish I only had 10 grey hairs lol. Appreciate YOU so happy to have you apart of this challenge!
Melissa Denise* I want to thank you for so many tips and hair advice that I’m actually using now. I use the black seed oil just about every other day, especially on that balding spot, and I also cornrow the nape of my neck hair whenever I refresh it. This has really made a difference and my hair is growing so fast in that area now because of me tucking it away. Thank you so much ♥️
Just seeing this upload now. I know this challenge is over but I added the collagen powder option 1 from your description box to my cart and plan to stick to a regimen for the next 6 months and compare from my starting length. This was so specific. Love it!

Thanks for your sweet comment Lanya. I'm with you on falling off the wagon OFTEN but these alway help keep me accountable! Thanks for watching! Appreciate you! xox
The pink bonnet is super cute ❤️🥰 I tend to lean towards bonnets that are not too tight around my head & nape because that is the quickest way for me to get a headache 😩 so I use a satin sleeping cap with a drawstring attached so I can adjust it to my liking 😌 but definitely going to take a look at the bonnet u showed in the video ✨
Awee I missed this challenge. Maybe next time. I’m trying to grow my hair to waist length. It is mid-back length I just had to trim my hair about 1 -2 inches off due to my ends were so horrible I don’t trim my hair often so it needed it badly. I’ll try to join the next challenge. Yes my nape has problems too, a lot of breakage. My hair has reached a plateau but I think the protein shakes and treatment will help. I tried the Aphogee protein treatment it was amazing!
10:12 your not using a styler during the week? Just wash conditioner and then mist the hair during the week? That's what I do. I have a very low maintenance routine but my hair is thriving. Ok interesting I would like to do the challenge but I will not do half of what you're asking for me is too much i will use my oils, do my washing of hair and do a protective style yes my diet is always on point a nod and I might use some vitamins
Hi i live in Seoul ,South korea 🇰🇷 my hair got damaged because of the water so had to trim some off but it seems they trimmed a bit too much according to the hair stylist my hair was a bit damaged so my question is how long does ot take for trimmed hair to grow back. Thanks
Hi 👋 I just went to your Facebook page and I would love to be a part of the hair growth challenge since I have been at a hair plateau for years I really need to get past this😩
Hey!! Ok great! Im going to go and approve everyone today...sorry for the delay! You got this!! Glad you are on board. PS where is your plateau? If it's anywhere on or near your shoulders or even mid back it might be friction that is holding you back. Check out this video (idk if the link is going to work in the comments bit it's the description as well)....idk if this has anything to do with your problem but it might help xox - Why Hair Wont Grow Past Certain Length - ruclips.net/video/rFtH92rmqlQ/видео.html
My hair is shoulder length but I do protective style I had problems with breakage from dryness due to products that didn't help much with retaining moisture i found new products that really help combat that so I hadn't seen much breakage lately so I'm really glad about that I have started to see a little more growth now 😊
I have a question, I’ve noticed that I have a bald spot at the top middle of my hair line. I only use silk scarves to tie my hair up and I tie it with the knot in the middle top of my hair, is this what is causing the thinning in that area even though it’s a silk scarf?….Thx
Hello. That's what's causing it definitely since you are constantly tying the knot in that place. I noticed that when I was doing that at the top of my head that my hair started to break off and became extremely short. Avoid tying it in that spot and use oil like JBCO, Coconut oil, etc to massage in that area and avoid manipulation in that area in order to let it grow back. Hope this helps.
Yes that was some great advice above. This is what was happening to the nape of my neck bc of my scarf. I braid that section of my hair up now to protect it and its helped. I would def just switch up how you tie it or maybe try a bonnet.
Hey thanks for joining the fam. I would suggestion finding a good oil that and applying it to those problem areas multiple times a week. Black seed oil, Black castor oil and castor oil are all great options. Hope that helps
Please assist me in growing my hair out...I'm not begging but I'm REALLLLY asking for your help. I have hypothyroidism and I have a lot of vitamin deficiencies. My hair is suffering 😭
Not the beddd lol!!! My goal is to always finish my water before 2 (never reach that goal) bc yes peeing all day and night!!! I don't understand how ppl drink a gallon a day!

Can you do a video on some of the foods you will be making for the challenge?
Yes I can do that...I legit eat the same thing all the time but Yes I can fit that in.
I will set my calendar for measurements!

What type vitamins are you taking ?
My hair is waist length but thin 🙄🙄 I just want some thickness, some density, and thicker strands 🙏🏾
Try various vitamins, rosemary rinses, coffee rinses, or it could be genetic.
I think if you have a very high protein diet you don’t need protein treatment I found that out the hard way

My hair is shoulder length but I do protective style I had problems with breakage from dryness due to products that didn't help much with retaining moisture i found new products that really help combat that so I hadn't seen much breakage lately so I'm really glad about that I have started to see a little more growth now 😊
Now that am fully natural I would like to grow my natural hair to mbl like I did my relaxed hair
Cant wait for you to reach your goal!! xox

haw abut people who have to avoid protein due to health condition ?
Melissa Silva* Thank you for the answer, I was beginning to worry.💜
Am a new subscriber n am having a hard time with really bad edges any suggestions
Hey thanks for joining the fam. I would suggestion finding a good oil that and applying it to those problem areas multiple times a week. Black seed oil, Black castor oil and castor oil are all great options. Hope that helps

Has your hair always been shoulder length or longer?
No it hasn't. I've been fully natural for about 10ish yrs so it has been long for some time now...but it hasn't always looked like this.
