I consider myself privileged to have been invited to work there in 1996 as part of a team. We were building a laboratory block and living accommodation for the British Antarctic Survey scientists that are stationed there. It was absolutely breathtakingly amazing. It took 13 days to get to work from the UK by plane and ship! To see killer whales, Adele penguins and seals in their natural habitat was so special. We spent Christmas and new year there and although i was only there for 10 weeks the experience will stay with me forever. Keep up the good work :)

The only viable way of building anything their is using local materials, the Mars colony has to be near autarcic because imports from earth are so expensive and unpractical.

It is inspiring that facilities can be built in remote areas such as drill equipment, oil refineries, coal mines and weapons facilities.

It’s amazing..... I can’t get planning permission to build a porch on my house but here in the most unspoilt part of the world is a massive construction site. Oh I forgot... to study how unspoilt it is, or was before they turned the place into a construction site.

During a Symposium of my study association, one of the BAM engineers who worked on the project and visited the build site during the first year of construction. It was quite impressive, to hear about the project from him.

Wow. im in construction, I drive a 6x6 bell 45ton. I never thought I'd see these types of trucks being used in a place like that. I agree with the narrator that'd be the project of a lifetime.

@B1M this video has taken your presentations to another level. Was it undertaken by yourself or is it using stock footage and interviews from somewhere else? because if its you guys i wish there was a way to nominate it for a RUclips award for production values, quality of content and information. Just next level video...well done all at the B1M.

Scientists trying to study so called man made climate change using all the equipment they say causes it in the environment the most easily affected by it, seems ironic to me.

Fred Mills your channel just did it once more-great documentary ,brief and to the point-the environment is truly extreme and worse still far from civilization as we know it yet even inspiring is how the team took extreme measures to keep invasive species from entering Antarctica .Construction is a great career but the way it overcomes hardships to beat deadlines , keep customers and have a mind for the environment shows how much the field is becoming conscious by the day in the atmosphere it is operating-great visionary team leaders will take this industry without making it boring.
