Just did one of her cardio workouts earlier this morning! I’m two months into working out and have definitely seen an improvement with my cellulite on my legs.. keep it up!!
Thank you so much for your vulnerability while talking about your bad work day! I can definitely relate! Those days make me question my career choice. 🤦🏼♀️It’s comforting to know you have those days as well! ❤️
Stylists are not magicians! Some people have such unrealistic expectations. They bring in a picture that's clearly styled and they say I want this look but I don't want to have to style it or they'll say I want to look like her and you ask, "u mean her hair?" They answer I want to look like her, the hair, the face and the body, it's kinda funny.
I love how transparent and real you are about these situations in the salon. Sometimes i feel like I’m the only stylist who has these experiences. Feels good to hear another stylist talk about the tough days 💞
I really love hearing your salon stories. I'm a hair stylist of 5 years. I'm on maternity leave right now. Due next Thursday! But I totally get the double booking yourself. Especially when a client says one thing. You think its gonna be an easy highlighting apt. And then you start lightening and see everything that's underneath the surface. So many clients ask for color not knowing it's going to require it's a full multiple hr color correction. And you may not be able to achieve their goal in one session. It takes time. But it is what it is. We can only do so much while still keeping the hair healthy. It could be multiple appointments. I love my clients. But some can be really picky. The whole "I see yellow" is so true. You want a warm blonde. That's what you get. (Warmth) You want pure white. We have to get all that warmth out.
Thank you so much for talking about this!!! I can relate to these feelings so much, and when i have a bad day like this and want to quit and i feel so alone, like i failed at my career. Picking yourself back up after a bad day can be so hard. I appreciate and value your honesty, wisdom and stories! They have helped me a lot as a fellow cosmetologist, i started watching your videos about three years ago before i started school and now I’m licensed and doing what i love, and you’ve been such an amazing and inspiring guide throughout my journey in cosmetology! Some things are out of our control, you’ve got this! ☺️💕
I’ve been having a hard month at work between a couple NO SHOWS (hasn’t happened in forever) and clients not knowing when their appt was... (they get text reminders). I think it’s in the air!!
Oh Sam so good to see your video, have missed you! Can totally related to this, I'm a pleaser also, even when its been fast in the past, some days the flow is just a oh hell nooooo or they or we just have an off day! You're not alone & thank you for being real!!! Tomorrow you'll rock as usual!
Plus remember the increase of color correcting has increased sooo unbelievably (& "they" want to take our profession away) the last couple years & there will ALWAYS be those people who can't be pleased, don't pick yourself apart, your a professional you got this ALWAYS!
As a stylist 19 years in… I have such a hard time saying “No” to my clients and always try and squeeze them in, or come in early or stay late… it’s so tough I swear. A problem always occurs when I try to make it work lol. It’s a catch 22. 😂
Just be honest and say I am fully booked today let’s book a appointment sometime this week/ next week. People should not have a issue with you when they can’t get in last minute they should be glad to have found a popular, hard working, busy stylist that is booked far out in advance then one that never seems busy enough and always can “squeeze” you in. It adds value to your work and your time. Another tip for time is making notes of how long a client takes if they get repeated services and booking accordingly.
Fellow stylist here... I feel you so hard on this. This is one reason I don’t do corrections anymore and only work in natural hair. Managing client expectations is soooo difficult especially after you’ve jsut come out of a stressful situation or squeeze and you’re just off your groove a little. Sending love
So funny when you were talking about the color issue with your client this is the same thing that’s happened to me when my stylist friend has used shades on me! And for some reason shades always comes up dark on me.. and I’ve learned that the higher the level the better for toning me or else my hair will be darker than what I started with! For some reason I can’t trust shades because of it or could just be my hair idk! Just thought I’d share my experience!
I work in a salon and I highly recommend having Malibu quick fix and Malibu CPR on hand incase a toner/color goes too dark or just doesn’t come out as it was supposed to! Quick fix is made for that scenario and can be used up to 48 hours after the application and can be done right at the bowl. However, we one time didn’t have quick fix on hand and used cpr on a clients lowlights that came up violet and popped her under the dryer for like 20 min (even though she used a 7N on her lol) and it took that tinge right out. Less damaging than putting bleach back on it too!
As a receptionist I experience this a lot and it’s hard we want to help our clients and fit them in, accommodated anyone running late etc it’s stressful. Thanks for sharing.
Love the long videos 🙌🏼 Your workout inspired me so much 🤍 I’m 28, have two babies and my body has suffered 😂 I’m going to start doing her videos too! Thank you!
Yay! Welcome back home! Vacation sounds like it was perfect and your nails held up beautifully! 😍🧡 I love wearing jewelry that I don't have to take off every day! Thanks for sharing! ♥ Jenny
It happens! I’m sorry I just started doing hair so thank you for reminding me that everyone has days like these. Also i would try adding crystal clear to your formula! It helps so much when the hair is too porous
Today I got in my car and started crying after a rough month in a new bigger city, in a new high end salon. I have never wanted to not be at the salon and do what I thought I loved doing. The new salon has ran me raggid, im exhausted mentally and physically by work and clients with unrealistic expectations that do not listen. I’m not happy but have no idea what to do. I feel ya girl
The chloe ting 2 week shred is perfect for people just getting back into working out! I decided 2021 was going to be my year of fitness and I didn't know where to start. I did the 2 week shred and saw amazing results after 2 weeks. I did 2 of her other programs and now 6 months in I do like 2 of her videos a day (random ones) and then go for a walk and I'm still losing weight. She is the best and idk why she gets a bad rep on youtube!!
I have days like that at work too. I hope things get better for you. And I think some clients probably have unrealistic expectations. I also like the fact you are honest about things and that you try to learn from your mistakes. Also your dog is so cute. I live in Scotland but if I lived near your hair salon I would definitely get my hair done there. I love getting my hair coloured. I have been visiting the same hairdressers for 25 years. I hope you manage to find some relaxation time for yourself at home after your work. I think some clients forget sometimes that hairdressers are human too with their own problems and worries.
Girl I feeeeeelllllt that day I’ve been there and as I’m rushing thru it all I’m thinking WHY DID I DO THIS TO MYSELF . What I’ve found helps with my shades eq toners is, adding clear ,putting them over olaplex #2 , and processing full 20 minutes .If it still overtones use Malibu quick fix , idk what the first thing you used was , you said you did something but didn’t say what it was . The other lady is just a blonderexic I’ve had one of those, I understand because your heart just drops ! Gorgeous result btw, you’re an awesome stylist don’t let this day deter you from excelling in this profession!
I’m a stylist in Seattle and I totally get what you mean about toning with shades it’s happened to me too! Love you and your story times! Thank you for sharing!
I was laid off from my my desk job and am going to esthetician school in July. I thought of you when I was enrolling. I actually do have an active cosmo license, but wanted to delve more into the skin side of it.
As someone who’s been doing hair for a while that is so stressful to see and hear people compare their hair to other people it’s called lighting different textures different processing people don’t understand that anyways what you did looks amazing her had looked so brassy before with no life and the after photo looks like there is actually life to her hair what an amazing job!
I’ve noticed the V’s have been so dark lately, but to prevent the porous hair from sucking it all up I’ve been using the redken extreme lamellar water before I tone, and I spray it only on the ends so it’s filled before the toner! And it’s been working better for me!
So sorry you had such a poopy day! first off your after photo was perfection. lmao you should make a Benny white special on your menu for those "fun" clients xD as a fellow stylist i feel for you! and ugly laughed at that meme YESSS HAHA
Love your videos !! Thank you so much! I had this issue also before I started adding Clear to 8V. The only time I use full strength is when I’m going to watch at the sink and honestly I don’t use it alone anymore at all ..
I miss you! I haven’t been watching much RUclips in the past few months but I still love your vlog! I work in a salon now! After pandemic and all the bs with cosmetology school I finally did it! Thank you for being an inspiration
Yes girl! I just started working out on April 12th, I did the old 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels and then 2 weeks shred by Chloe and the body is looking SO MUCH BETTER 💪🏻 now I am on day 8 of chloe’s 28 summer shred and still loving it 👏🏻🤤
Oo oo oo okay new profile pic!! 😎 Love that you're SO real and keep it 100 with everyone. We all make mistakes no matter what job you do! You're AMAZING and don't you forget it lil lady! 👏🏼❤️
You are such a great stylist Sam, the videos you have shared are the proof. I have long blonde hair that gets foiled all over to make it look almost a solid color that I love. There has been mishaps too and to be fair, sometimes it’s because of my hair being porous, and a time or too the toner was on too long. But I think your right in this one, it was more then likely the lightening she was looking at!
I feel your stress...honestly the main reason i dont take new people is to avoid situations like that.. I do more nails than hair but this is very relatable. Our job messes with our mental health big time im glad you make these videos Heres a virtual hug 🤗
I've always wanted to go to SC or NC! It's so pretty there. I'm sorry you had a rough day :( I definitely am not good at being stressed for time and have a hard time. Also omg Benny got so big all of a sudden!
I’ve noticed lately redken shades has been having issues with their toners actually being labeled wrong, I guess they’ve been using a new factory since covid and it’s been causing a lot of issues. I’m in a group on Facebook and there’s a lot of people experiencing this same thing
Omg I haven’t heard anything about that, but it would explain a lot!! I’ve been using shades for a couple of years now and never had an issue with it until this incident, and it just made no sense to me because her hair wasn’t super damaged or anything and it toned perfectly the last time. Very frustrating!
Hi Sam!! Idk if I’ve said it already but, I’m so happy to see how much your channel has grown over the last couple years! Yay! And Q: any advice on how to find a great colorist near me? Thank you!
Aw sam I know exactly how you feel when this happens ! Ever since things opened up back in Texas my salon has been so busy and booked which is great . But there’s also so many times when I have had to say no to squeezing people in . I literally regret it every time ! It’s almost as if the people who went to be squeezed in last minute are the ones who don’t respect or appreciate your time ! It sucks but i have learned the hard way too :( Your work looks amazing though ! 💕 it’s hard when you love what you do and you take everything personally because that’s our art !
Sam I was having the same issue with Redken and finally adventure out and Discovered Matrix and will never go back it’s easier to learn and read and formulate and true to color
I’ve been doing hair for 4 years. Ow and I still have those days sometimes and they SUCKKK…it makes you wanna never touch hair again. And it’s so hard to balance the pricing with all that too. You sacrifice so much sometimes and it’s so draining… keep it up
Get some Kenra Porosity Spray to apply before toning. It helps fill the hair so it doesn’t grab as fast! Or sometimes I leave in conditioner before applying the toner if their hair is porous.
The V's get super "grabby" and the 8's are so pigmented, which you need to cancel that yellow at level 8. I still add some Gi, for that reason. But she must have been especially porous from the lightener. Do you use Olaplex? I do the No 2 after the bleach is washed out, and that really helped my toners take better. I also wonder if the bottle was mislabeled. That has happened to me before. It happens and it sucks. I am happy to listen. I feel ya.
Ugh that’s so frustrating! I’ve been using shades for years and almost always use clear whenever i’m using primarily an ashy tone. They always pull darker and grab in my opinion. I have a hard time trusting any damn ashy tone these days 🤣🤣
The “squeeze in” is REAL! Right now especially. The world is opening back up and people wanna get their hair done so badly and I get that. But they have to wait till there is time. We all have a vacation to go on, we all have an event to be at or a birthday coming up, ya gotta plan for that people! Lol I do hair dressing though!
"It doesn't look any different." That's when you whip out the BEFORE pic. Some people can't be pleased. Those IG photos have filters. Also, I let clients know. "You might want to pre-book for a toner refresh, or your next appointment"," and it's because we do a lot more luxury and corrective services, now. It takes as long as it takes, and when people are dropping $300-500 on their hair, they want one-on-one. I can totally relate. LOL.
This falls under the category of "It must be picky person hair day"..lol...things happen..but on the upside ur all moved in and u had a good vacation! 👍 we all luv u for being u! ❤
normalize putting your health before other people's needs
Especially if you want longevity in this industry. It takes a toll on our bodies.
That client with the “yellow” hair. You did such a great job. It’s a literal TRANSFORMATION. She’s blind clearly.
How cute and gentle you are with your amazing dog 🥰🥰🥰
Don’t quit chica! You got this. This is good that it’s happening. These times are very emotional but you will learn so much.
This is so relatable Sam, I felt like I was sitting in the room with you and sharing our day together, I loved this
I'm not even a hairstylist and I 1000% appreciate your transparency. You are amazing Sam!!!!! Lots of love from NJ
DOESN'T LOOK ANY DIFFERENT?!?! is she serioussss. that after photo was GORGEOUS! I'm a hairstylist as well and I feel this.

You do high-end dimensional gorgeousness, and they knot it up in a messy bun in a tight elastic. OK. But expect breakage.
I work in a high end a la carte salon and even the experienced stylists we have, have clients like this sometimes….I totally get you!
I love how transparent and real you are about these situations in the salon. Sometimes i feel like I’m the only stylist who has these experiences. Feels good to hear another stylist talk about the tough days 💞
you inspired me to pursue cosmetology school and i graduate in 43 days! thanks for being you girl. keep up the amazing content ❤️

@@styledbysamvay I’ve had issues with 8V recently! It’s come out darker and more WARM. I had to stop using it on my sisters blonde all together

Just know your not alone!! As a hairstylist I experienced those days as well!!
Thank you for sharing this real experience 🙏 I'm sorry you went through that but also I appreciate hearing this story and seeing I'm not alone. 🙃

I absolutely love you! My baby boy, Moonshine, loves when you vlog with Bennie. He gets so excited when he can see him in the background lol.

Your work looks amazing though !
Or add a bit of clear if redken has that available! (I use Kenra so I’m not sure of their line).
How crazy I'm literally at the airport right now heading to OBX tomorrow!
I feel ya.
Just found your channel and have been binge watching lol!! Where’s that cropped hoodie from at the beginning?!? Love it!! Looks so cozy!
H&M :)
I missed you!!!!
Sam you have the cutest laugh! (At the “memes” part- “I still see yellow.”) Thank you for sharing your difficult day. “Benny White!” The Best!💜
A 40 minute video!!! YESSSSS
Hey, could I ask where the grey hoodie in the first clip is from? so cute x
Ugh that’s so frustrating! I’ve been using shades for years and almost always use clear whenever i’m using primarily an ashy tone. They always pull darker and grab in my opinion. I have a hard time trusting any damn ashy tone these days 🤣🤣
So true!
LOL.
That is true!!! My stylist takes me outside too. I love that!!!
I love your nails 💅🏻 🧡 U look amazing btw 🙌🏻 Now u have me wanting to work out and eat better lol 🙌🏻☺️
Thank you!!
Where is your grey cropped jacket from? It's super cute!💕
